A game about life and all the problems in it. Inlcuding finding a severed arm out in the street. Oh, and everyone is an anthropomorphic animal. Why? Because it makes things better, that’s why. Who cares about people having people problems? But animals having people problems is a lot more adorable and precious and you want to see what happens to them.<\/p>\n

You play as Mae, recent college dropout returning to her small hometown. There, she reconnects with her old friends, gets caught up in recent events, becomes a public nuisance, and gets involved with something strange. Really strange.<\/p>\n

Night in the Woods is a look into a bunch of loveable jerks trying to make their way in a harsh world.<\/p>\n

You and the guys<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

From left to right: you, Mae; your friend, Greg; your acquaintaince, Angus; your other friend, Bea. Your relation with them makes up a large part of the story, so it’s great how the interaction plays out. The characters feel like real friends with in jokes and a propensity for getting into trouble when they get together.<\/p>\n

This game is like a slice of life, and you know how much I like those. The best scenes are you hanging out with your friends. It’s engaging and gets emotional.<\/p>\n

Down town<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

Beyond that, you can explore the town each day. There is lots to see and side activities to participate in. The game is all about talking to people, finding out about their problems and realizing you can’t do anything about it. But that’s life. Things change every day, so if you don’t experience something, it’s gone.<\/p>\n

You’ll also learn about why Mae dropped out of college and deal with strangeness going on around the town.<\/p>\n

Don’t think that an animal world means soft and cuddly. This game is serious and can get dark. People deal with real issues such as financial problems, worrying about the future and more.<\/p>\n

Party on!<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

The game has great music and a great style. Making the world full of animals just makes things better. Mix it up with great writing for characters and you have a winning combination of a town you want to explore and find out more about.<\/p>\n

Be sure to on top of buildings, too. A lot is up there.<\/p>\n
