This Sonic game was released on April 1st for free. It is a short visual novel game where you get to hang out with the cast and see what they are like when they are not running as fast as they can. It is a cute game that shows off the various characters well. Not every one of Sonic’s pals are around, but a lot of them are.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Sonic against the world.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n

The game might be short, but it is charming and full of vibrant characters. Amy Rose is throwing a birthday party that is a murder mystery game, so she has invited a lot of her friends onto a train where the game will take place. You play as the newly hired train worker. Your main job is to heat up the food, but you don’t do any of that in game. You act as the sidekick to the detective when solving this mystery.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The game is a visual novel, which means it’s mostly reading, but there are short segments where you have to investigate an area and find clues. Then you have to interrogate the various guests because one of them is the killer. There isn’t multiple paths, so I don’t think there’s a real way for you to lose. If you make a wrong choice, you’ll be allowed to go and correct yourself.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The visual style is charming, and all of the characters have a bunch of fun expressions. It’s great to interact with Knuckles, Blaze and more. A lot of the characters are hiding something, and it’s up to you to figure out what.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

There is also a minigame here. The minigame represents the main character gathering their thoughts and forming a coherent argument. Fittingly, it is a runner style game where you must move across the stage, dodging obstacles and getting enough rings before the end. The game starts of simple, but it does get challenging. For those that don’t want to deal with the game or can’t beat a certain stage, you have the option of invincible mode to make things easier.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Murder of Sonic the Hedgehog may or may not be canon to the official Sonic story. It is ambiguous. But the game is well done and shows the cast of Sonic in another type of game. The characters all get a chance to shine, and they are fun to hang out with. It shows the strength of Sonic’s characters in various types of games. They work just great in a visual novel style.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A grand performance.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n

The game may be free and short, but it is just full of Sonic goodness. The story is good. It’s mostly light-hearted and funny, but there are some serious moments, too. Fans of Sonic the Hedgehog should experience this. And it is a decent introduction to the characters even if you don’t know some of them. I say bring on more of these types of games!<\/p>\n\n\n\n
