Roy 'Fuujin' Karosiji

Contact Info: Kindred Society
Name: Roy Karosiji [English Format]
Age: 27; Age at time of death: 20; Years Spent in Soul Society: 7

Persona:
Being calm, reserved, and polite were never Roy's strong features. Excelling in situations that had required quick judgments to be made with swift execution on the fly gave him the nickname of "Fuujin" among the streets. Known well for being gentle amongst his comrades yet fierce and overwhelming to his adversaries; Roy indeed had modeled himself to represent the very nature of wind.

Roy could easily be characterized as the type of person who speaks his mind regardless of status quo or common principle. Granted there have been situations where he knows that he shouldn't open his mouth, but he would more than likely point out that there have been very few times which have required a halt to his witty retorts. Since Roy grew up in such a harsh environment he was forced to become so independent that at most times, unless something directly involves him, he's not really bothered by it. Because of this natural carefree attitude, Roy tends to regard unrelated tragedy with a kind of disassociation / lack of caring where as others would have their emotions or psyche affected or even damaged. But this hasn't made him a cold-hearted or careless man of little words by far; in fact quite the contrary can be said. Because he's mostly never burdened by the overwhelming stresses produced by every day events, Roy can be more at ease with others and very sociable.

One "fault" Roy does have is that he loves to get into fights. With a crazed look in his eye and a confident smirk, Roy will accept challenges contently as if he was dealt the winning ticket to the lottery. So much that it could almost be said that he's 'addicted' to it by nature from growing up and living on the streets for so long. Another is that he would never believe in the word 'formal', nor be confined to such conformities when possible.

Hates - Sushi, green tea, getting lost in complex places, and uptight people.

Likes - Food, beautiful women, music, and fighting.
Physical Stature:
Roy is quite the looker being 5'6 with short spiky brown hair, light brown eyes, and a well-built average size body for speed. Often at times he will let his hair run a bit wild in its own natural style, but that's only because he doesn't really mind how his hair looks.

Unlike most Shinigami, Roy wears a pair of fighting gloves with pieces of hard metal incorporated into it to allow for one to block attacks from weapons. This is similar but different from gauntlets in that the fingers can be seen at the tips to allow for every day tasks to be accomplished without the need of removing them. Beneath the customary Shinigami garment Roy wears a tight sleeveless red t-shirt tucked into his pair of gray pants. Instead of the usual sandals Shinigami wear; Roy wears black steel-toed combat boots.

He'll occasionally be seen with a moderately long piece of wheat in his mouth while laying about leisurely here and there during his very short breaks from work and training when there's nothing to do but rest.
Division and Seat: 5th Division (Kidou Division); 8th seated.

Zanpakutou:
Roy sees his Zanpakutou as a very useless and shameful looking one. The tarnished broken looking blade is covered by a golden brown hue of rust that seeps even into the very core of the blade through its multiple series of cracks. Since only half a foot of the blade remains intact, Roy keeps it at all times in its sheath to avoid humiliation from how the blade came out original when formed. He even went so far as to tie a red rope around the handle and scabbard to symbolize his decision not to use the blade even in combat.

When considering of Roy's current state of mind and code of fighting, this doesn't really come of as a surprise. Roy acknowledges the role of the shinigami, but has extremely strong issues concerning his code of ethics that he's yet to be overcome. At this point of time he's against using unnecessary lethal force or taking life without very good reason. As such the holes and cracks in his moral ground have been represented as cracks and holes in his soul slayer.
Biography:
Roy was raised on the streets learning how to live off of his wits and to adapt with whatever came his way. He never knew of his parents and lived his life from day to day not knowing if there would be a tomorrow. Naturally there were others just like him in the slums and, like birds, flocked to one another for comfort and protection. Because of such harsh living conditions Roy grew up knowing all to well how to fight and to use his streetwise in every situation possible.

At the age of 16, Roy grew sick of the corruption that was plaguing his neighborhood like a festering disease. Organizing under him a strong gang of fighters that he grew up with, Karosiji sought to help protect the streets and bring about a little more order to the chaos of his world. The gang entitled themselves as the 'Lone Wolves' and promoted good virtues among people and other gangs alike. Their way fighting followed their motto of "Respect, Honor, and Mercy." This meant that no matter what their opponent did, they fought without ever taking human life. As a result more and more gangs in the area began to hold the Lone Wolves in high regard, so much that some even joined and merged.

For over three years power slowly began to shift to The Lone Wolves due to more and more people joining under the belief of making the slums a better place. As the ranks increased the violence and chaos of the slums began to decrease in turn. But this only seemed to draw even more dangerous people to challenge for control of the turf. To prevent loss of life, Roy made a simple declaration. If anyone wished to take control of the slums, all they had to do was fight him and win in a one on one fight. Needless to say Roy took on all challengers and won every single fight, regardless of the circumstances.

One point in time another gang leader even confronted Roy with a gun aimed at the center of his face. To everyone's amazement Roy charged the person head on and actually avoided the bullet to a point where it only scathed his left cheek before pounding the living crap out of his attacker. As a result the people started to nick name him "Fuujin" .

Just when it looked like life in the slums was finally becoming better; Roy left. No one knew where or why, but without him society crumbled and regressed back into the depths of misery. Many have often tried to search for him, but all failed. One year later news of his death came as a shock. His body was found torn and mauled in an extremely unnatural manner. How Roy died is even a mystery to himself as he doesn't remember anything within the one year period that he left The Lone Wolves.
Items:
1) Gauntlet like Gloves. (See Stature.)
** Baizou Tatari -- "Double Cast" (Aur/-/-)

The user is able to fire off two Kidou spells at once for the price/cost of one. For users with a Connection below 4,000, only low-level Kidou may be used with this Tech. Those with 4,001-6,999 Connection, low and mid level Kidou may be used. Those with 7,000+ Connection can use all levels as long as they have the Kidou reserve for it. There is an eight to fifteen second recoil time afterwards that Kidou cannot be used. When using Baizou Tatari, the Kidou used must belong to the same family, i.e. Hadou, Bakudou, or Bougyoudo. Baizou Tatari may be used more than once if Kidou reserves are over half, but once Reiatsu drops below 50% capacity, the cost of using this Tech rises by +20% increments per additional usage.
** [ Senmonka ] -- Bakudou - "Specialist" (Aur/-/-)
The user picks a family of Kidou to specialize in, ie, Hadou, Bakudou, Bougyoudo. With training, the cost for using spells from that family is reduced by -20%. If there is no specialization, the reduced cost is spread out evenly among the three Kidou families (three, since the 5th division is specializing in everything other than Chiyudou) for -6.7%
[Achieved with Saiga and Lok]
*** [ Touitsu Sensen ] -- "United Front" (Bst/Syn/-)
In battle, two characters who have spent much time with one another and are fighting together against an adversary receive a +20% stat boost to two stats of their liking (except Reiatsu and Connection). Outside of PC vs PC battles (Sou Kyouko, direct duels, etc.), Touitsu Sensen does not take up a slot in either the List or Allocation. However, in order to be used in PC vs. PC fights, Touitsu Sensen must be equipped, and takes up an Allocation slot.

[Attained after 30,000 words have been written together. May be learned at a reduced requirement of 22,000 words between members of the same Division.]
[ Atozukeru ] -- "Trace" (Aur/-/-)
Based entirely on the reasoning behind meditation, this Technique is performed solely through the control and focusing of the mind. It is a specialized ability to "trace" Reiatsu. This includes the basic form of being able to sense where people are, but in battle, Atozukeru is used to trace and learn "patterns" in movement (by tracing smaller patterns of energy movement, like the wave of an arm, for example), both within the opponent (e.g., footwork, hand to hand combat) and also for the Zanpakutou (e.g., swordsmanship). It enables the ability to "see" these patterns so openings for attack and opportunities for defense are increased. However, the user's Reiatsu is drained at a rate of 150 per round for the duration of Atozukeru's effect.

[Attained when 3,000 Hohou and 5,000 Connection are reached. Optimum efficiency for Atozukeru is reached at 4,000 Hohou and 7,000 Connection.]
[ Baizou Tobiagari ] -- "Double Jump" (Mov/-/-)
The user of this Tech can jump into the air, pause by gathering Reiryoku at the base of their feet, then spring-board off the gathered energy. This Technique is tiring and takes a lot out of a person when used more than once in succession of the base jump. One must also be prepared to compensate for the fall that comes afterwards. During the pause, the user cannot perform other actions than the jump, or else the succession will be broken and they will fall back to the ground. Each usage drains 80~150 Reiatsu, depending on the spring-boarding effect's level of potency.

[Attained when 2,500 Hohou is reached.]

[ Kyuu Picchi ] -- "Quick Pace" (Mov/-/-)
Practitioners of the Way of physical combat have always lived by the same principle day after day: Death is only an arm's length away. Even the most powerful of warriors can be brought down by a single weak enemy that can keep them at a distance, and as such, this Technique was conceived to help them close the distance to the enemy in a matter of seconds. For Shinigami, this skill has been labeled as Shunpo, but the ability to attack in Shunpo is beyond the reach of most, and even after it is attained, it can only be used a few times in a battle due to the strain on one's energy reserves. Kyuu Picchi answers the need to close the gap, but also covers the need to attack as quickly as possible by being fundamentally close to Shunpo, but not as instantaneous. By concentrating for a brief moment, the user can summon Reiatsu to his or her feet and burst forward at half the speed of Shunpo, while also being capable of striking the enemy during any point of the movement with added momentum to his or her attack.

[Attained when 2,600 Zanjutsu/Hakuda and 4,000 Hohou are reached.]
[ Nukite ] -- "Spear Hand" (Atk/Sta/-)
A Technique necessitating the formation of a knifelike position with the hands and using Reiatsu to fortify or harden them, enabling the user to pierce through most surfaces. The damage incurred by Nukite mainly depends on the speed and accuracy of the attack, but it rarely finishes off the enemy.

Nukite is mainly used to subdue or weaken a part of an opponent's body. Once this Tech is applied to an opponent, it forces out small amounts of energy to disrupt the flow of power into the struck parts of the body. It basically disrupts the function of that area for a couple of seconds before returning it to normal.

[Attained when 700 Hakuda and Hohou are reached. For every additional increment of 300 Hakuda and Hohou, the user gains one more usage of this Tech.]

Kidou:

Hold - Bakudou #52, 630 Kidou

Description: A binding spell. When the user of this kidou is attacked at close range, the user sends out a short wave or energy. The energy shoots out for a maximum range of five feet.

When the spell is shot out, the binds contract around the part of the user's body where they've concentrated the most power (usually the same part they're attacking with). The binds then freeze that weapon and/or appendage (incase of hand to hand attack) in place for a maximum of 10 seconds.

The bakudou will completely freeze the limb/blade of a person of similar of lower spiritual pressure. It will greatly slow down the limb/blade of a person of 2x the strength, only allowing them to move that limb/blade at about an inch a second. And it will half the speed of anyone at 3x-5x the spiritual energy. Anyone higher than 5x is completely unaffected.

However, while the person has the spell in play, they cannot use the palm they cast the spell with. The rest of the body is fine, however.

Incantation: Freeze the warrior's blood. Halt his evil intentions. Bakudou #52, Hold
Symbol of Summoning - Bougyoudo #63 - 1000 Kidou
The user of this kidou scribes a circle, filled with arcane symbols, of 5 feet in diameter and says the chant continuously while the second person scribes the same circle anywhere else in the world. The second person then steps into the circle and attempts to shyunpo through the circle. They are then transported inside of the circle the first person scribed.

This is a delicate process and not to be used in a stressful situation unless needed. To complete the ritual perfectly, the time required is about 10 minutes.

Chant: The road is long and the need is dire. Fate will change course through our force. Bougyoudo #63, Symbol of Summoning
Time Bomb - Bakudou #15, 110 Kidou

Description: The user focuses a small amount of kidou into their hand. Upon contact with the hand a small 'time bomb' will be placed. To activate, the user of the kidou needs to snap their fingers which will cause the kidou to detonate. At lower levels this will only stun opponents but a higher levels it can cause a decent amount of damage. The strength of the blast is determined by how much kidou is used in the attack.
Level 1 - Base Cost
Level 2 - 200 Kidou
Level 3 - 300 Kidou

Max level of 20 requiring 2000 kidou. Level 1 requires one second to charge, each level after requires an extra second to charge (level 2 - 2 second charge, level 3 - 3 second charge etc).

Chant: Divine fire, judge the unworthy. By your hand their fate is decided. Bakudou #15, Time Bomb.
Chains of Misery - Bakudou #20, 170 Kidou/Chains of Torment - 700 Kidou

Description (Chains of Misery): The user forces their kidou energy onto their forearm. Translucent, fiery chains are materialized. The chains wrap around the user's hand, but the tips flail out wildly. Upon mental command, three chains can be shot out from the base. They have a maximum length of 30ft, after that they lose the mental command and fall to the ground (and must be mentally retracted after that). The kidou can last for a maximum of 30 seconds.

While they can be used as whips, the basic attack comes from using them to bind your enemy. When bound, not only the user lock their opponents to themselves, but the chains send out a searing flame through the parts of the body they bind.

Description (Chains of Torment): Can only be extended from Chains of Misery and only when your opponent is bound. The user forces their kidou energy through the chains, and the fire on the chains rises. The flames shoot through the chains to the target, and then the target is completely engulfed in the flames.

Incantation (Chains of Misery): The body burns hot, the soul's evil engulfed in the purifying flame. Judgment Absolute. Bakudou #20, Chains of Misery!
Banshiissei - Bougyoudo #28, 1.3 times the Bakudou used.

Description: A Bakudou removal spell. The user chants the spell and concentrates. This focuses a greater amount of energy out of the user to push away and nullify a Bakudou spell. Since there are many different types of bakudou, there is no set rate.

It takes about 3-10 seconds depending on how much the spell has formed and how powerful it is (the more powerful bakudou taking at least 10 or more seconds to break). So, the effects are not instant and any damage that occurs from the spell itself stays.

When the bakudou is released however, a bright flash is released, allowing the user to escape. However, the flash only lasts for a few seconds itself.

Incantation: The captured begs for freedom, selling their souls for a chance to escape. The cornered man forcing his last hand. Bougyoudo #28, Banshiissei.

Shikai

Shikai phrase:
"Yurei; Suroto."
Zanpakutou's New Sealed Appearance:
After Shi-Kai has been attained, Roy's broken and ruined looking blade becomes a long two handed traditional Japanese sword. The handle of the blade is eight inches in length with a golden yellow tsukaito that matches the golden oval shaped tsuba. As for the cloth beneath the tsukaito, the tsuka is a dark ebony black. (See Roy's picture labeled shikai.)
Zanpakutou Spirit:
Suroto by appearance looks like a blackish blue crow with an odd yellow beak. But he actually represents Roy's former lives before the current one that he reincarnated into. Suroto is very philosophical and often quotes a lengthy variety of speeches and sayings as an attempt to shed a new light to his newer self.
Form:
The entire zanpakutou, sheath and all, vanishes into thin-air as a grayish silver, almost ghostly, reiatsu instantly bursts up and begins to circle about Roy.
The Shade's Cloak
Ability Power:
The shade's cloak is really the altered silver reiatsu Roy emits naturally that coats his entire body like a protective second skin. At first sight, this reiatsu appears to be very useless. But this ability makes him immune to effects and filters out harmful substances. Some examples of this is that it negates poisons, paralysis, and even abilities that bind or otherwise hinder Roy in a number of many different ways. This ability does not however make Roy immune to direct energy or kidou attacks.

Since the Shade's Cloak filters harmful substances, the air Roy breathes is cleaned from toxins and other natural pollutants, creating fresh oxygen that is purer for intake. This results in his respiratory system and mitochondria functioning far better than that of other fighters. To break it down scientifically, Roy's muscles are able to work without tire. The human body functions on two states: aerobic and anaerobic. Anaerobic state being where you're body is low on oxygen and the cells inside of you are still trying to live without it. Roy is in a continuous aerobic state since the large amount of oxygen he takes in is filtered and pure. Constantly giving the muscle tissue the energy it needs to keep itself running at optimum level without tiring out as easily. Which is also why Roy usually doesn't seem fatigued or out of breath. (Hohou + 30%)

Bankai

Type: Support/Passive
Released Appearance:
The shade's cloak manifests itself around Roy, seemingly draping him in the translucent many holed black cloth that naturally moves and waves as if it had a life of its own. A light grayish silver aura extends outwards from the silver reiatsu that was first seen in Roy's shikai. Roy's hair turns silver with black highlights as his eyes shift to a crimson hue. Within this silver reiatsu, his regular shinigami outfit looks similar to his hair save the sash that covers over the gi is a light red that's borderline to a pink color. (See Bankai in my profile under pictures.)
The Reversing Shade's Cloak:
This ability is an upgrade from the Shikai ability Shade's Cloak. Upon release, a second layer of silver aura resonates out in a five foot radius from the initial "second skin" coating (If Shikai is skipped and bankai is released, then the first layer will be created along with the second layer). This area could be referred to as a null zone in which any foreign energy or substance created out of energy that isn't Roy's will be resisted if not nullified as it is filtered from the area depending on the strength of the opponent. Since the five feet of rieatsu is created through the aid of bankai, Roy is aware of everything within that area like a sixth sense.

(Note: When I say created out of energy, I mean anything formed by it. Be it just a raw energy attack or formed/manifested into something like an ice attack for example.)
Effect Chart:
Base Reiatsu: Above Equal:
Reduces Stat bonuses by a fourth. Roy must pay 3x the original cost to nullify offensive abilities, techniques and anything else that's created through the channeling of spiritual energy used the by opponent. Defensive abilities not effecting Roy cannot be affected by the Shades Cloak, aka Off Limits. (Note: If the opponent is at atleast x2 Roy's reiatsu, the attack damage is only halfed.)

Base Reiatsu: 1/2 -- Equal:
Cuts Stat bonuses in half. Roy must pay the original cost to nullify offensive abilities, techniques and anything else that's created through the channeling of spiritual energy used the by opponent.

Base Reiatsu Anything Less than 1/2:
Nullifies Stat bonuses. Roy must pay half the original cost to nullify offensive abilities, techniques and anything else that's created through the channeling of spiritual energy used the by opponent.
Kami no Kaizai (Divine Intervention):
As a last defense, Roy may expend 5% of his current reiatsu to will the second layer of reiatsu to rotates in any direction he pleases with him as the center point of rotation. However, Roy himself does not spin in accordance as he's virtually the same as being the "Eye of a Tornado" . This can be explained by the first coating of reiatsu which separates him from the second layer like the grease that keeps an axle from grinding against the metal of a wheel. Because of this the shear speed, ranging from sixty to one hundred mph depending on how the object/person in question is, at which the energy spins will throw anything caught within it. This also creates a vacuum of suction a foot from the exterior of the reiatsu from said high speeds that will pull anything with range up and around to be later released to fly somewhere off into the distance. To an extent this could be considered as Roy's bankai attack in that if he feels threatened by an opponent within his personal space, he may choose to send said person away from him and give himself enough time to escape if needed.
Side Note about Percentile costs:
(Sai said it best)
Saiyoisen: we are talking base cost though
Saiyoisen: it's not they pay 10% and you pay 10%
Saiyoisen: you have to figure out the numbers
Saiyoisen: if they pay 5000 then you pay 5000

Irrelevant Side Note For Shinno:
Roy's mitochondria are starting to get used to processing more and more ATP while using it to support body functions. In accordance to this, when Roy attains shinno he will be able to create and manage more ATP than what an average human being is used, hence improving muscle performance and speed greatly.

NPC Roster

(Note: There are some minor details here. More general, more descriptive ones will be placed in at a later time.)
Ayami Karosiji - Roy's adopted sister.
Toukon - (The puppy Roy picked up.) Npc/Item.
Doctor Asaki: -

Doctor Asaki is what most people would call a mad doctor who knows his limitations on just who he can perform his wacky experiments on. He's a character I was thinking about for a long time and probably would have had him as my main if I didn't create Roy. Asaki and Roy's timeline connects back to when Roy was still alive. Meaning they've known each other for a little more than 8-9 years. For some yet to be explained reason, Asaki has this strange obsession for Roy. Roy simply thinks it's just a creepy form of perversion suddenly brought up between them. Also Doctor Asaki does strange things such as calling him, "my special specimen" and refering to "An unpaid debt" whenever there's an argument. Asaki also tries a lot of weird experiments such as creating a potion that causes hair to grow, but he does it wrong and hair grows in weird places. Or making digestion pills but somehow makes the dosage so strong that whatever the person eats it comes right out the other end. Stuff like that.

Currently stationed as one of the doctors at the healing tent in the 5th division .

Student Npcs:
These are some of the guys that Roy specifically trains under him.
