Welcome to The World Tournament! This tournament is canon tournament, open to all races and factions. The prizes, the glory, the legends born from this tournament are all real. This tournament was created as an act of good faith between Soul Society and human world, a symbol of unity between the living and the dead, created as a chance for both worlds to momentarily put aside their differences and engage in sport. The tournament will take place all around the human world, in locations specially prepared by members of the Fifth and Ninth Divisions.

Also unlike previous tournaments, there are not going to be separate cups! Instead anyone may end up facing anyone else. Unseateds may fight Captains. Agents may fight Generals! However... there are plenty of ways even the odds...

Tournament Information:

Each fight is given two weeks to finish. If no victor has been determined by the end of the period, the victor will be ruled by me and the GMs. If a combatant stops writing, it is considered to be a forfeit. The following round fights can be started immediately when both combatants are finished with their previous fights. The bracket will be updated at the end of the two week rounds.

The damage taken in the tournament is real, as is the expenditure of items and thresholds. While a round is active, you cannot replenish abilities and items mid fight, even if a week has passed. Between rounds each person will regenerate 50% of their reiatsu and refill their thresholds. Shinigami may stabilize wounds with reiki and humans with Salve may stabilize and heal minor wounds.

Rules of good sportsmanship apply, which sums up to no unfair attacks/unnecessary arguing/godmodding ect.

Spectators can watch fights but they can't directly impact the fights. Though moral (and perhaps amoral) support is allowed!

Threads for the tournament should be labeled in a manner as follows:

[4th/9th] Week --: Round 1: Caleb Fletcher vs Yin Feng

Tournament Rules:

Unlike previous tournaments, this tournament will be run off a point system and a bracket. The bracket is set up to be a three game guarantee. This is to say every entrant will be guaranteed to fight in at least three rounds! At the end of the tournament, everyone’s points will be tallied, with the winners being granted several prizes.

200 Points - Completing the Fight (win or lose)
300 Points - Winning the Fight
200 Points - Underdog Bonus (at least 20% weaker than opponent, win or lose)
200 Points - Equalizer Bonus (volunteer for limiters to equalize strength. Both combatants are given the bonus)

The Equalizer Bonus is calculated as follows. The stronger person's reiatsu is equal to the weaker combatant's. The stronger person's total stats are equal to the weaker opponent's at the same proportions as normal. The Equalizer and Underdog bonuses are separate from the other handicaps.

Furthermore, each combatant will be randomized a mandatory handicap for the round. Combatants can choose to roll for a single additional handicap in order to get more points! The handicaps are as follows:

Rolls will be done on this site with the Lobby being HDTourney:
http://rolz.org/group#

1: [Ether] -100 - Restore 100% Reiatsu
2: [Addle] 100 - Base Technique Costs Doubled
3: [Disarm] 0 - Unable to use Unique Items
4: [Haste] 50 - All ability durations or persistent abilities reduced to one round
5: [Torment] 200 - Cannot use the same technique or ability in consecutive rounds
6: [Encumbrance] 50 - All Stat Thresholds reduced to 0.75x
7: [Lucky Seven] 7 - No Handicap
8: [Shield Break] 100 - Defences halved (barriers block only half of the cost in damage)
9: [Potion] -100 - Heal all wounds
10: [Mana Burn] 200 - No Reiatsu bonuses from Release

At the end of a fight both combatants should post their new point totals along with their final word count. Each combatant rolls for their own handicaps at the beginning of the fight on the honor system.

The roll order is as follows.
First decide, if possible, if the stronger combatant is going to equalize.
Then each person decides if they are going to elect to take 1 handicap or 2.
Next, each person rolls for their handicaps.
Finally, roll for your location.

Exhibition Matches:

Like with the previous tournament, exhibition matches are open for people to partake in. At the beginning of an exhibition match, the combatants can choose to gamble some of their tournament points in a winner take all style!

Prizes

Consolation:
30% of Points to Kan, SRDI Phantom Five

Third Place Prize:
60% Points to Kan, Lifetime Supply of Tetrazac P, Shouen Bouheki

Second Place Prize:
80% Points to Kan, A.D.P.A, Gyoku Ten’on

First Place Prize:
100% Points to Kan, Mephistopheles CXZ7 Sport, Daiitokumyoo

Daiitokumyoo:

The mark of the ultimate champion, merely possessing this fabled cloak signifies the user’s unrivaled skill in combat. The cloak is colored a pitch black, with ornate golden markings embossed in the fabric. The cloth is unnaturally fluid, but at the same time is surprisingly durable. The cloak continuously draws spiritual particles from around the user, storing it within the swen matrix. It reacts to its owner’s reiatsu, amplifying it wildly. This causes the user’s reiatsu to appear immensely powerful, mesmerizing those who chose to fight them. Once a week they can activate the ability of the cloak, instantly drawing the attention of those in a 15 meter radius towards them.

Shouen Bouheki:

A rare artifact of power, legend says that it was held by a mythical hero in a time long past. Shouen Bouheki takes the form of a bracer which sits on the upper-forearm of the user. The bracer is gold, with an intricate pattern of a blooming Chrysanthemum etched into the metal. The bracer is capable of projecting a golden shield empowered with 350 reiatsu once per collab.

Gyoku Ten’on:

Borne from the forges of Seireitei's High Blacksmith, Gyoku Ten’on takes the form of an ornate staff. At the top of each staff is a Tourmaline gem, embossed in the middle of a golden, web-shaped, design. The shaft of each staff is colored a same hue as the embedded gem, golden spirals travelling down in a helical shape. Each gem is a capacitor of latent reiatsu and, once per week, can be emptied to return a 700 to the user.

SRDI Phantom Five:

Modern communication for an ancient soul, the SRDI Phantom Five is the newest and hottest phone in Seireitei. Filled with all the necessary apps for a motivated spiritually active being, no one should be caught trying to subdue hollow threats without it! However, as a downside, interdimensional communication service ranges are a bit spotty.

A.D.P.A - Autonomous Digital Personal Assistant:

The future is now thanks to the great minds at APACHE! After years of research and development, the team is finally ready to send its latest creation on to you, the consumer! The Autonomous Digital Personal Assistant -- or A.D.P.A. for short -- is a handy tool for anyone leading a hectic, on-the-go lifestyle; capable of checking email, managing schedules, making phone calls, and so much more! Additional functions may be added through the use of upgrade modules (sold separately). The best part about it? Hands free! This cute little orb can manage all of its functions autonomously thanks to a built-in personality construct! Several personalities are available so you can find one that matches you perfectly! Just try one and soon you’ll find the A.D.P.A’s hovering their way directly into your hearts! Batteries not included!

Personality Cores Available:

Miyagi - A calm, elderly-sounding Personality Construct who always has a bit of wisdom to share with his user. The Miyagi core has been designed with infiltration in mind, and is equipped with a radial motion tracker that can detect incoming hostiles within a small, twenty meter radius of itself and alert the user.

Brick - A hot-tempered, brutish Personality Core with a bit of a violent attitude. Not the sharpest tool in the shed, Brick should not be relied on for anything more than reading email -- even the alarm clock is rather risky.

Aeries - A cynical and snarky female Personal Assistant who is fluent in twelve languages, but most frequently utilizes sarcasm. Can handle more advanced functions begrudgingly. In addition to advanced translation suites, the Aeries core is equipped with a small three-dimensional projector to display information to its user.

Isaac - A combat model core, Isaac has had most of his extraneous functions removed in order to handle more advanced modules and increased computational demands -- leaving what is left of his personality cold, calculating and robotic. The Isaac core is equipped with an advanced software intrusion suite, allowing it to crack into most computer systems if given enough time, though it is limited greatly by its lack of processing power.

Tetrazac P:

Take one of these capsules and you’ll feel like a million bucks! This herbal supplement will fill you with energy to take on the day! Fatigue fades away, pain disappears -- take one of these and you'll be on top of the world, at least for the next three rounds! Upon ingestion, it’s [PATENT PENDING] chemical cocktail instantly cleanses the body, removing debuffs currently affecting the user. The pill is is capable of cleansing up to 1,000 reiatsu worth of debuffs. The strongest debuffs are cleansed first. Do not mix with other pharmaceuticals. ‘Scientists’ suggest taking no more than one pill a week, to prevent ‘harmful’ issues such as ‘death’. Worry not however, this lifetime supply will make sure you’ll have a pill every week.
Side-effects include but are not limited to, nausea, mania, and children born with the head of a golden retriever. Results may vary.

Mephistopheles CXZ7 Sport:

CONGRATULATIONS. YOU’VE WON A BRAND. NEW. CAR! Luxury and practicality combine to create the Mephistopheles CXZ7 Sport. The sleek, yet powerful look of the Mephistopheles CXZ7 Sport is sure to awe passers by. The speed of a Ferrari, the elegance of a Porche, the wow-factor of a Lamborghini, this supercar has it all! Zero to Sixty in less than three seconds, the Mephistopheles CXZ7 can satisfy your need for speed. The chassis has been spiritually reinforced, allowing it to handle even the most archaic roads and supernatural threats. Equipped with a wide array of gadgets for a demonic beast hunter, the Mephistopheles CXZ7 Sport includes a visual cloaking device, 10 km spiritual GPS sensor, customizable color scheme and, perhaps most important of all, removable cup holders!

Mephistopheles CXZ7 Sport has been road-tested by an elite panel, consisting of the foremost Arcane Automation Experts.

Some select quotes:

“Five Stars out of Five! And I’d be saying that even if I wasn’t being held at gunpoint!”
“What was that pill that you gave me? Why is the car changing colors? It’s talking to me! It’s amazg!”
“Who are you? What do you want? What’s leather sack for?”

Locations

At the beginning of each fight, one of the combatant randomizes the location that their fight takes place in!

1. The Orpheus Training Lot

One-hundred-fifty square meters of concrete, the training lot for Orpheus is an underground parkade. Rails line the ceiling, carrying targets to and from locations for various training exercises. Spectators can observe the proceedings from a series of surveillance cameras, from a neighboring room.

2. The Cerberus Agoge

A stainless steel room measuring roughly three-hundred cubic meters, the Agoge is a massive training room capable of simulating multiple environments. Stainless steel walls are segmented at various points - occasionally protruding platforms and ledges for the combatants to take advantage of.

3. The Fuji Summit

A secured location at the top of Mount Fuji, this battlefield was once host to the desperate struggle to hold back Prometheus, the Vasto Lorde, and spans no less than a five-hundred meter diameter. The peak of the mountain has been frozen over, almost permanently. However, just below the surface, lies a steep fall down to the core of the volcano itself, still teeming with lava.

4. The Spire

Since its creation, this monolithic piece of metal has loomed over one of the central districts of Tokyo, unable to be removed or destroyed. In an effort to keep its nature secret, the organizations of Earth have quarantined the area until further notice in a small, three block radius. The spire itself is sharp and pointed at sections, but is relatively climbable for the dexterous. Three buildings surrounding the spire offer further venues, potential damage only lending credence to the danger of the spire for the human world.

5. Chimera Facility: Fukushima

Once the birthplace of the splinter cell, Chimera, this underground base has been cleaned of the criminals and has been placed in the custody of Cerberus Fukushima. The venue used is a massive tunnel system spanning no less than two-hundred meters in length, and half as wide. Poorly lit, and with damp conditions, footing is hard to find on the smooth stone floor.

6. The Quarry

The location that signified the first act of cooperation between the Gotei Thirteen, and the human organizations, the Quarry is a massive, four-hundred-meter diameter circle. The signs of battle are still evident, remains of the battle against the Pale Horse. Machinery spans the majority of it, construction equipment intermingled with numerous conveyer belts to serve as platforms for combat.

7. Biodome - Jungle

Dense undergrowth covers and monolithic trees tower above. The air is heavy, humid and fully saturated with water. Sudden rain-bursts common, drenching the location with several inches of water within seconds before fading. The terrain is unsteady, with large boulders and uneven cliffs forming the landscape. An immense waterfall created by the Amazon River cascades near the center of the arena.

8. Biodome - Salt-flats

Held in the middle of the immense Sala de Uyuni salt flats in Bolivia, the ground is a nightmare to traverse. Merely standing on the dense flats causes the combatant to slowly sink into the liquifacted salt. The expanse is barren, a perpetually clear sky hanging above. Little water ever falls on the flats, causing the atmosphere to be extremely arid.

9. Biodome - Fog

Constructed on the Grand Banks of Newfoundland, a perpetual fog hangs over the area. The ground is relatively flat, which takes the form of a grassy field. The fog however is immensely dense, crippling vision of combatants to a few meters at best. The air is thick, ladened with the cool moisture of the low hanging clouds. Immense cliffs dot the edges of the cramped island, a violent sea waiting below.

10. Biodome - Arctic

Constructed where only a handful of men and women have dared to tread, the area lies in the heart of the arctic sea. Situated on one of the many floating islands in the expansive Arctic Ocean, temperatures plummet to a brisk -30° F. Even colder temperatures wait for those who enter the water currents surrounding island. The ground is mainly dense snow, though portions of the island are coated in a thick plateau of ice. Icy cold winds constantly blow, a low jetstream creating powerful gusts.

11. Biodome - Neutral

Surprisingly constructed on a relatively normal island in the Pacific, this arena, simply put, has nothing special. The weather is pleasant, the skies appearing to be perpetually clear. The landscape is an expansive field, with several deciduous trees dotting the landscape in patches. The winds are steady and the occasional cirrus cloud appears in the sky.

12. Biodome - Desert

Breathtaking sand dunes cover the arena, towering to rival even skyscrapers. A perpetual sun beats down, temperatures skyrocketing well over 100°F. Exerting any sort of physical effort can quickly dehydrate a person. The sand is slow going as well, making it difficult to move rapidly without being bogged down. A respite waits in the Sahara however. A single oasis hides somewhere in the vast expanse.

Due to general confusion with the 'real-time' nature of the fight time limits, as well as the abundance of OOG distractions that cropped up this round (*cough* FF, GTA, classes), we're going to switch to a more standardized time-frame for the remaining fights.

As part of that, the current round is being extended and will end for all participants on Saturday, 9/28/13.

Note that if you and your opponent are both prepared, you can still begin your fight early. Each round will still end on certain dates, meaning that starting early will net you additional time for that fight.

One additional clarification as well: in order to concede and still count as 'completing' the fight, the fight must go for at least five full rounds before one member concedes. Forfeiting earlier than this will also forfeit the 200 "Fight Completion" points for both combatants as well as any handicap or underdog points for the one who concedes. This means that you are not required to fight a hopeless battle until the timer runs down as long as you make an effort to fight or survive for at least five rounds.

As part of this, if the thread begins and at least 5 days pass with no response from the opponent, the first poster can declare their opponent's forfeiture in-thread. This only applies for the first post. You cannot declare a victory mid-fight if more than 5 days pass between turns.

Just a note as we near end game and the staff is having to tally up the points for each person; IF YOU DON'T HAVE YOUR ROLLS LISTED IN THE FIGHT, YOU RECEIVE ZERO POINTS. Anyone who suspects such errors should remedy them today. After this point, any fighters NOT LISTING THEIR HANDICAPS will receive no points for them.

That is all.
