Vice Captain, 13th Division

Age: 18 years on earth, (7 years in Soul Society) appears to be 18
Persona: He is clever, sarcastic, and occasionally blunt, a man that loves to talk to people just to gage their personalities. Jinju can be a bit modest at times as he tries to impress others around him, which usually ends up backfiring. He has an iron will. When he has made up his mind about something, there is no changing his decision. Jinju is a man who would do anything to protect his comrades. He cannot stand to see people harmed or in pain, and will always blame himself for not being strong enough to prevent it. Though simple sparring with practice swords is no problem, he hates a real fight and would do anything possible to avoid it. With that being said, fights always seem to find their way to him. He can be very easy-going at times to the point of laziness, and hates formalities or proper manners. Jinju will get frustrated often, but he will rarely get angry. Jinju is someone who loves to think about anything and everything for no apparent reason at all, which he is known to do on his habitual long morning walks. He will never reveal anything about his past or logic unless he absolutely trusts the person he would reveal it to.
Physical Stature: Jinju is a little over 6ft tall, weighing about 175lb with an athletic build. He has dark blue eyes, and 2ft of dark brown hair that is either tied back in a rat-tail, or left loose to blow in the wind. He has recently let his long bangs fall in front of his face, which partially covers his eyes. His gi is much baggier than normal, and allows him to easily conceal items inside such as his sake decanter. Worn around his neck is a necklace that has the yin-yang symbol on it. He wears his zanpakutou on his left hip, in a perfect position to quickly draw and block if necessary. He also has a scar that stretches from his lower neck, down in-between his breasts, and across his stomach that marks the last moment of his life on earth, and the source of his motivation.
Biography: The earliest memory Jinju has is hearing the voices of his family as they were killed in front of him; he was about four at the time. What exactly happened that night still remains a mystery to Jinju, but he knows he was only spared because the police showed up right before the murderers were able to kill him.
Jinju grew up at his grandfather's house. His grandfather taught him the art of swordsmanship and staff fighting to teach him both discipline and respect. He actually became quite good at it, especially for someone his age. He was 18 when his grandfather finally passed away.
Jinju at the time was very trusting, as he had never felt the hardships of being betrayed. He became friends with a group of people he met on his journey. This group of people was known as the Wangin Gang. They appeared to be friendly until one day they plotted to rob a bank. Jinju, being the righteous person he was, tried to stop them, but was killed in the process. The details on how exactly he died should remain untold, but Jinju has the scar across his torso to remind him every day.
When Jinju arrived in Soul Society and learned about the shinigami, he wanted to become one so he could have the power to protect people. Something he wasn't able to properly do in his past life. Jinju feels not a single soul, friend or foe, should suffer the pain and torture he has.
Jinju's first heard the voice of his zanpakutou on his first mission as an unseated member of the Thirteenth Division. He was nearly killed by the hands of a hollow inside a sacred cave while being accompanied by Shigenhiroi Junko, the Vice Captain of the Eighth Division. Junko managed to come to his defense, saving him at the very last moment before a last attack would have finished him off. Jinju didn't exactly realize the voice was that of his zanpakutou's at the time, thinking he was just hearing things being at the edge of death. By the end of that mission, the two shinigami became inseparable friends, able to express any feelings they had with each other.
Once he discovered the voice he hear was in fact the voice of his zanpakutou, he searched around, trying to hear it once again. He was completely unsuccessful in his attempts, and went to go see his old sensei Zabzuki Rikkaku who was still an instructor at the Academy. After a long discussion with his sensei, they had a spar, where Jinju was brought to the edge of death once more by his sensei's hands. It was at that moment he not only heard her voice again, but also saw the avatar's form. She told him she was made up of his emotions, and his power would be gained by reflecting upon them in combat. He refused to become someone who would live on vengeance, and his connection with his zanpakutou was shattered.
Days later, he went to go talk with his sensei, but was unable to find him. After searching the entire afternoon, he found him dead lying on his bed at his house near the gate to Rukongai. That is where he found a note, saying he was assassinated by the Arashi clan, a group of rogue shinigami who intend to take over Rukongai piece by piece, and eventually all of Soul Society. It was at that moment, he swore to put an end to every last one of them, killing them if need be. Through aid with the Second Division, he discovered the actual killer was located fairly close to Seireitei. He went there to investigate and bring the rogue to justice. At this time, he had once again been talking with his zanpakutou, drawing a closer bond with it, even if it was out of rage and hatred. He located his sensei's murderer, and after completely losing himself, released his shikai and sealed the rogue's powers forever by severing his chain link and soul sleep.
The shinigami began realizing he was becoming powerless, losing himself every time he would release his zanpakutou. There were gloves created on each arm when he had released his shikai which gave him access to Kidou, something he wasn't every able to use. He sought out help from Junko again, seeing if the Vice Captain would train him a bit in the uses of Kidou. Jinju was able to cast his first few Kidou, but because of him not being able to control his power, he went into a rage and attacked the Vice Captain with the intent to kill. Their battle ended as peacefully as possible, Junko being wounded by a surprise attack. It was at that point Jinju realized he needed to do something or else there was no way his captain, Senbokuji Ame, would allow him to remain in the Thirteenth Division.
Through studying, he realized his lack of control over his emotions and zanpakutou power was similar to the effects a Vizard had when first learning to control their inner hollow, It was at which point Jinju went to Terada Junichi, the captain of the Ninth Division for assistance. Junichi was known to all of the Gotei as being a Vizard, and the only man Jinju thought would be able to help him. Jinju sparred with the captain, incurring various injuries that would be regarded as very morbid and brutal. Going into severe trauma and shock, Jinju fell unconscious. He was taken to an inner world, where his zanpakutou avatar showed him images of his past, the moments of his lives where he experienced the most angst. One of those images was when he was a baby, something he didn't even remember, where he found his parents murdered and his house set on fire. It was at which point his zanpakutou avatar and him came to an agreement to work with each other. It is noted Jinju awakened, becoming fully aware of his shikai's powers, able to finally strike the captain. Junichi offered him a spot in the Ninth Division, but Jinju respectfully declined.
At that point, Jinju progressed through the Thirteenth Division ranks very rapidly, being regarded by some as a prodigy, a shining example of someone capable of walking among the elite. Jinju met additional friends within the Gotei, one of them being Mizumaki Kioko, who was also a good friend of Junko's. Another notable friend he found was Euchre Marcus, an expert healer in the Third Division. Jinju did have few friends, but he regarded them as high, people he would gladly give anything to.
Jinju had a special training session with his captain, Ame. It was a simple training session for Jinju to learn some of the secret techniques only known to division members, but turned into something much more, a question on morals and beliefs. Jinju began to become very close to his captain, trusting and agreeing with every worth he spoke. The two shinigami seemed to meld really well together, becoming more than just captain and subordinate.
Shortly after, Soutaichou Shinkou planned an attack on Hueco Mundo, a plan to siege Emptybones' fortress and eliminate him for the good of all souls. Jinju was Third Seat by then, given duties to command squads in battle. The war was a lot for him to take in at one time, he was unable to deal with the fact he wasn't strong enough to protect everyone. This became especially apparent when two of his subordinates had died to an arrancar and group of hollows on a simple mission he had assigned them. He fought valiantly against the hollows, but was unable to beat them with his current level of power. He was brought to his inner world once again, meeting and fighting with Kuraishikaeshi, his avatar. He awakened with the power of bankai. He used this power immediately, completely destroying the hollows around him. A battle of amazing energy followed as Jinju went up against the arrancar. Jinju was able to purify him, barely escaping with his life. Ame had come to his rescue, healing his wounds before it was too late. While Jinju knew he had come a long way, he still couldn't forgive himself for letting his subordinates die.
