Current 11th

The current 11th was restructured and underwent a bit of a division split. The division is still Heavy Combat/ Combat Specialists but operates in terms of 2 fully functioning units- the Operations Squad and the Support Squad. Every member is a member of the Operations Squad which does the physical training and the fighting but not every member is on the Support Squad. The Support Squad does all the behind the scenes work usually relegated to the Captain and Vice Captain to ensure and easier work load for all and more training gets done by the top two. Those who make it onto the Support Squad are handpicked by the Captain for the positions they are given and carry a mantle of responsibility. They are held to a slightly higher standard than the rest of the division as they are technically pulling double duty.

Overall, the new system has lead to a more structured 11th and allowing for the needs of all of it's members to be adequately serviced. Problems are located sooner and fixed even faster. Everyone is getting the kind of attention that they need and most of all, the division's effectiveness has increased greatly. All in all, this new 11th is turning out to be the best 11th ever known and Diega intends to keep it that way.

While the structure is well and good, the shinigami within it are even better. Lead by one of the strongest Captains of the Neo-Gotei 13, backed by an intrepid Vice Captain, and held together by a strong 3rd Seat, the new 11th is certainly a proud division and through intense training and hard work, fully intend on becoming one of the strongest divisions in the Gotei 13.

Captains of the 11th

The known Captains of the 11th Division listed in chronological order starting with the earliest recorded.

Zaraki Kenpachi
The bloodthirsty Captain of the 11th, his name has been echoed through the centuries and consequently bestowed upon the strongest shinigami alive. It is he who started the tradition of strong Captains in the 11th and established the brotherhood that remains in place today.

Zaraki Kenichi
******* son of Kenpachi, Kenichi succeeded his father upon the lunatic's passing at the request of the interim captain Kusajishi. A morose person with a wicked temper, Kenichi opted not to take his father's name even though he was the strongest in the Gotei at the time of his induction as Captain. Living in his father's shadow had been hard and there was always bad blood between him and his father. Kenichi married his father's vice captain and had a single daughter, Aiko. While not as strong as his father in terms of leadership, Kenichi was strong in his teaching skills. When his daughter married his Vice Captain, he stepped down and became a teacher at the shinigami academy.

Itsushika Kagezen
3rd in the line of Zaraki Kenpachi, Kagezen married the granddaughter of the infamous captain. He did not take her name to perpetuate the line, instead establishing his own lineage and name. As Captain of the 11th, he was best known for his Julius Caesar-esque tactics. A brilliant commander and fearsome warrior, Kagezen's 11th was easily the most feared division to go up against. He chose his youngest son, Tsukizen, to succeed him. Kagezen died of a progressive disease transmitted to him via a nasty Hollow bite.

Itsushika Tsukizen
4th in the line of Zaraki Kenpachi, Tsukizen was the son of Kagezen and Zaraki Aiko. A well known Captain, he ran the 11th efficiently. His zanpaku was unusual, taking the form of a sectioned staff. His Vice Captain was his brother, Hizen, and the two seemed to jointly run the squad. They both died in battle within moments of eachother when they were eliminated by twin Cero blasts. The rescue squads headed up by two Seated Officers by the names of Cofresi and Muraki were unable to reach them in time.

Itsushika Erozen
5th in the line of Zaraki Kenpachi, Erozen succeeded his uncle, Tsukizen in Captaincy. The 11th under his command was a fierce fighting unit though it lacked organization. While not one of the best Captains, the 11th under his command gained the nickname of the Kamikaze Squad. Erozen was killed in his sleep, dying from a massive air bubble in his brain. His murderer was never found.

Tsang Shun
An interim Captain, Shun was nothing strong nor anything special. He was defeated by his own Vice Captain who succeeded him within a year of him attaining his Captaincy.

Cofresi, Joaquin - Great Hollow War Captain and one of the 5 Resistance Commanders
Husband of the current Captain, Joaquin was the Captain of the 11th Division for the better part of a millennia. His version of the 11th was a specialized aerial and aquatic combat unit that did exceedingly well. During the war, they learned to become more adapted to land battles as well being named one of the 5 Resistance Commanders of the war. After the war ended, Joaquin stepped down as Captain, opting to assist in the rebuilding of Soul Society.

Torres-Cofresi, Diega - Current Captain and holder of the title of Kenpachi
Wife of Joaquin Cofresi and mother of his children, Diega started out as Joaquin's best friend and he served as her mentor for years. He was instrumental in helping her become stronger not only as a shinigami but also as a person. In his honor, she chose his old division to be the Captain of when the position became available. Under her command, the division has become small but the fighters it does possess are in a class all of their own.

H.A.W.T.S. (Hollow Airborne War ToxinS)
The updated and far more destructive version of HOTS, this is the deadly gas form. Difficult to create and use, it is harmless to shinigami and souls but for a hybrid or Hollow to breathe, it's like inhaling pepper. It burns the lungs of the creatures and acts in a similar manner as NERVE or SARIN or mustard gas. D ranked Hollows fall in a matter of minutes whereas the gas is only a minor irritation to A-ranked Hollows and higher.

Heavy Combat Uniforms
These uniforms are specially designed and tailored by several members of the Shinzui house, the cloth handwoven by a master weaver. The uniforms are two part: regular shinigami robes and a body suit worn underneath. The regular robes do not look outwardly different but they do have a slight shimmer to them. Made with fine strands of flexible steel, these uniforms reduce physical attacks by 5% and offer resistance to fire, earth, water, ice, lightning, and wind attacks. The body suit worn underneath is comprised of material woven specially by a Shinzui member's zanpaku. The top is like a turtleneck longsleeve shirt that is tight and formfitting and the bottoms are akin to leggings. Though they are not much as far as a fashion statement goes, they serve a valuable purpose. They help to keep the body cool while in combat (or warm if in cold climates) and act as back up armor while maintaining flexibility. When worn, they also help to regulate and maintain a shinigami's reiatsu, helping them to use their reiatsu more efficiently.

*Note: The uniforms protect against the HOTS and HAWTS weapons physically. Any hybrids handling the substance should where gloves and a mask- or have really high SP. Hoodies, bibs, and gas masks are available for hybrids with too low SP to have resistance.

H.O.T.S. (Hollow Offensive ToxinS)
These are special chemical for use on Hollows and hybrids. The HOTS material is liquid form and can be ignited by the application of a wick or merely applied to a blade or surface. If a Hollow or hybrid touches it, the substance will react in the same manner as hydrochloric acid, spreading over the surface of the creature touching it. One HOTS capsule can completely eat away a Hollow or hybrid's limb and then some. HOTS also works against Hollow abilities and armor. D ranked Hollows fall in a matter of minutes whereas the gas is only a minor irritation to A-ranked Hollows and higher. The inventor of the HOTS is credited to be Faustine Brunhilde and Dane Schultz, both scientists of the Shinzui House.

SUPER PEZ
(Comes in 41 flavors: apple, banana, beer, blueberry, cherry, coconut, coffee, cola, chicken, chocolate, cookie dough, eggplant, filet mignon, grape, guava, ice cream, key lime pie, kiwi, kumquat, lemon, lime, mango, mint, orange, oreo, papaya, passionfruit, peach, pear, pineapple, popcorn, plum, plum wine, raspberry, red bean mochi, roast beef, root beer, sake, strawberry, vanilla, and watermelon.)

Each little piece of SP candy, provides a 5% boost to ONE stat for 3 turns and recovers 10% of one's reiatsu. Only 2 SP candy can be taken at once. Any more and one will suffer horrible side effects including but not limited to: hallucinations, increased heart rate, chance of stroke, increased desire for crustaceans, higher sex appeal to Hollows and hybrids, stroke, fatigue, dehydration, and/or death.

Techniques

[Reiatsu Teion] - Spirit Power Bass

By forcibly moving reiatsu to a striking point on the body, when a blow is landed, the target recieves a higher amount of damage. This is accomplished through making one's gathered reiatsu vibrate at a certain frequency for a split second- enough to bruise the flesh and shatter the bone in the area of impact. For new users, the technique will merely rattle their opponent. As the user progresses in skill, the effect goes up to shorting out the opponent's kidou and/or reiatsu flow for a few seconds to bruising the flesh and breaking the bone under the impact. The higher the frequency and the steadier said frequency is maintained flawlessly, the stronger and wider the effect. The technique cannot be continuously maintained as it will harm the user but used in small bursts mere half-seconds before impact.

The effect of prolonged use on the user is depleted reiatsu and eventual bruising of the part of their body they use to strike with. Using the technique for rapid attacks or a blitz attack requires perfect control of one's reiatsu as well as flawless hand to hand combat skills but is very tiring. It is adviseable to space out one's use unless you have high stamina.

[ Berserker Overdrive ]

In battle, it is critical for one to be flexible and adaptable to a fight, just as it is necessary to be able to completely and immediately tap into the primal strength afforded us all by nature. So, this technique was designed to allow it's users to immediately and temporarily unleash a barrage of attacks to stun and quickly defeat an opponent by pushing the body to extremes in the blink of an eye.

Advantages are plenty for this versatile technique. The user is allowed to chain a combo of attacks together in a fast-paced chain of attacks. One can combine hakuda, zanjutsu, and kidou attacks together to deal a high amount of damage in a short amount of time. Another good point about it is that the user experiences no fatigue or recoil until after the chain has been completed.

Process
To activate the technique, the user concentrates for a moment, dispelling their reiatsu around their body and vibrating it to a low frequency to weaken the resolve and mind of their opponent. In the same turn, they will launch into the first and second attack of their chain. Then it goes as described in the Mechanics section. When the chain ends, the user's reiatsu returns to his body and they experience a 15% drop in hohou for a short time to recover. How long is dependant on the tables below.

1 - 5 attacks = 1 turn rest
6 - 10 attacks = 2 turn rest
11 - 15 attacks = 3 turn rest
16 - 20 attacks = 4 turn rest
21 - 25 attacks = 5 turn rest
26 - 30 attacks = 6 turn rest

Mechanics (P v. P)
Obviously, such a technique would be hard to put together and apply in a turn-based scenario. So, this is how I figure it would work. No matter how long the chain lasts, the maximum number of attacks executed per turn is 3. However, while the Berserker Overdrive is in effect, the opponent is limited to defense due to the nature of the attack with one exception. Defense includes trying to get away, which is really the best defense in regards to this technique. This would put the opponent at a disadvantage for a few turns, obviously, but in the cool down phase after the attack when the user's hohou drops 15%, the opponent will have the upper hand for x amount of turns, the user's strength returning in the final turn of fatigue.

Breaking the Chain
There are a few ways the break the chain of attacks. If the opponent's stats are at least 10% higher (in either Zanjutsu, Hakuda, or Hohou), then they get one counterattack per turn. They may use kidou for this counterattack if they wish, including casting a barrier to protect themselves if they choose. Granted, Breaking the Chain also means a shorter recovery time for the user though they will be stunned for a moment as their body ends the Overdrive.

Chaining Attacks
The first attack is always the slowest and usually one attack leads into another so for someone with a high perception or the mechanics of fights, it would be easy to escape the Overdrive attack through careful movement. As the attacks go on, they get progressively faster, building up on the momentum of the previous attack, a concept used in senpuuken. With every attack, one's hohou rises 2%, the maximum being capped at 20% boost to that stat. The number of attacks you get is determined by your connection. Everyone gets 3 attacks to start with plus an additional attack per 2k connection.

Kidou Applications
Kidou can be used while the Berserker Overdrive is in effect but it's usage is quite limited. Either 3 low level spells, 2 midrange spells, or one high level spell. There is no mixing of spells either. You either go for one high level spell, 2 medium spells, or 3 low level spells though 1 medium spell and 1 low level spell is permitted. Additionally, one can only use certain kidou at a certain time.
High Level Spell: Can be used either as the first attack in the chain or the last attack in the chain.
Medium Spell: Can be used at any time, but with two attacks between each use.
Low Level Spell: Can be used at any time, but with 1 attack between each use.

Advantages:
- One is able to chain attacks together, combining zanjutsu, hakuda, and kidou together in a chain.
- Due to the heightened level of frenzy of the user, the body is able to react faster and ignore the recoil, down time, or fatigue a technique or kidou incurs until after the chain is completed.
- The sudden release of reiatsu agitates the opponent and induces a sort of momentary hesitation allowing the chain to begin.
- Short, 6 attack chains are best, strategically, but it's all up to the individual.

While a handy skill to have, it has it's drawbacks.
- Strikes are not precise and miss their targets by inches or less.
- It cannot be used continuously and it cannot be used from the start of the battle.
- The user must have taken some damage to be able to tap the power to be able to push his body into the attacks.
- It is physically draining, taking 2% of one's reiatsu per attack used in the chain. If 10 attacks are used, subtract 20% of you reiatsu. That way, the strike combo amount is limited to 30 attacks, less if one has burned reiatsu already. If anyone is dumb enough to do that, it's an instant KO.
- After the combo, the user is physically drained for a short period of time. During this time, any potions or chiyudo to re-energize him will not work. The body must rest itself for a few turns. During this time, the user's hohou will drop 15% from it's original value. After the period of fatigue is over, their hohou returns to normal.
- Senka and other instant-kills are not permitted. Even if a user attempts an instant kill despite this rule, the move automatically misses.
- Techniques with stat modifiers can be used but the stat modifiers themselves will not take effect.
- The technique is limited by one's reiatsu. If their reiatsu falls beneath 50%, they they can no longer use the technique until the reiatsu has been raised again.

Job Assignments and Special Positions

Operations Squad Commander
Usually a 3rd Seat, this commander makes sure that everyone is getting trained and everyone is growing in their strength. In the absence of the captain and vice, he or she is the person in charge and is treated with a similar respect. Usually, the most senior 3rd Seat occupies this position as it is a position of trust.

Support Squad Commander
Again, usually a 3rd Seat, this commander oversees paperwork and day to day operations within the division that do not have to do with training or direct military operation. These shinigami are also usually volunteers or civilians who assist the division, wives and husbands or children of 11th division members. The shinigami in the Support Squad are deployed as a military unit as well during wartime and do train in addition to pushing paper. The bearer of this commander position makes sure that the Support Squad or SS keeps up to par with the OS. This is also a position of trust.

Hakuda Master - OS
Within the Operations Squad, there are 4 masters over each aspect of the 4 fighting paths. The Hakuda Master is just that- the shinigami in the division most skilled with hakuda. This person is proficient in many martial styles and is usually found training seemingly endless teams within the 11th. They have assistants to help them during their lessons and are constantly on the go. The person for this position is handpicked by the Captain.

Zanjutsu Master - OS
Same as before except with zanjutsu. The shinigami in the division with the highest zan stat and greatest skill ocupies this position. They are permitted assistants as well and are just as busy as the Hakuda Master. Their skills must lie not only with the sword, but with as many weapons as they can find. Again, the person in this position is hand-picked by Diega.

Hohou Master - OS
Same as before except with hohou. This shinigami is the swiftest aside from the Captain and vice captain. Found teaching shyunpo, the Hohou Master's job is a littl trickier. They teach shinigami to not shyunpo but also to apply their kidou, zan, and hakuda skills along with their hohou to make them fast attackers. Again, this position is hand picked.

Kidou Master - OS
... same as before 'cept with kidou. This master doesn't really get much in the way of students except a few students here and there that want to supplement their regular studies with a little magical boost. The few specialists that exist here are skilled and fast, making them formidable in their own right. Again, a handpicked position.

Chief of Finance - SS
This shinigami oversees the cash flow of the 11th and does the payroll. He is constantly looking for a way to save money without sacrificing quality or efficiency. Usually feuding with the Chief of Logistics over what ply of toilet paper to order every week.

Chief of Personnel - SS
This shinigami oversees the filing of personnel records and making sure that the Personnel Officers keep the entries up to date and accurate. The Personnel department works constantly with the Operations Squad to make sure that assessments of individual shinigami strength are accurate. They also deal with going to outside divisions for assistance like healthcare, etc. Granted, the Personnel department does have a few physicians and nutritionists at their disposal for consultations. Additionally, the Personnel department nutritionists put together healthy menus for the division meals.

Chief of Public Affairs - SS
Handles press releases and other information about the division. This department also scouts shinigami right out of the Academy for the 11th division and reports them to Diega for possible drafting into the 11th. Another function of the Public Affairs department is to do propaganda work and make sure that the 11th maintains a relatively good public image despite the exploits of the division's captain and vice captain. In other words, damage control.

Chief of Logistics - SS
Makes sure that every bathroom in the division HQ is stocked with toilet paper and every shinigami has what they need. The Logistics and the Finance department seem to constantly be feuding since the Logistics tends to be more liberal and the Finance department tends to be conservative by nature. Their ongoing war is a source of entertainment to the rest of the division.

Chief of Internal Affairs - SS
This is the shinigami that oversees the domestic chores of the division. The 11th is almost completely self-sufficient in that they do their own cleaning, maintenance, etc. While not a glorious job, it is most unwise to anger this shinigami because though they might be lower in rank, they are completely authorized to put any shinigami on trash and toilet duty for an amount of time with the exception of the 3rd Seats and the Captain and Vice.

Special Squads
For those who have a special interest or skills not applicable anywhere else, Diega has created several squads to accomodate that influx of skill. These squads also give the 11th a strategic advantage when it comes to their combat adaptibility and giving Diega further license when commanding the troops.


Aerial Assault
A group of shinigami with the specialization in combat in the air. The AAT is a marvel to watch in the air, carefully controlling their reiatsu and releasing it in sporadic pops to keep themselves aloft and change direction. These folks usually have a lot of reiatsu in order to keep themselves aloft for combat with flying opponents.

Aquatic Assault
This group of shinigami is specialized in combating the few hollows that are adapted to water. Owing to the nature of the environment they will be preforming their work in, these squad members are trim and built for speed. They are very strong swimmers and hence, seem to be constructed of muscle. Since aquatic hollows are fairly rare, members of this squad are usually members of another squad as well.

Assassination and Espionage Squad
Called the ASSESS for short, this group of shinigami operate under Diega's absolute direct orders only and in some cases, under the orders of the Vice Captain. It is through them that Diega collects information that she needs on both allies and enemies alike since quite often, the two are one and the same.

Required Skills: 2k Hohou, at least 2k in another combat stat


Berserker Squad
Usually picked from the Frontline Attack Squad but open to everyone with the ability, the Berserker Squad is among the few and the proud. Through unknown means, they are able to tap into vast reserves of strength at the cost of a temporary loss of sanity. A tough group, the Berserker Squad is permitted to use their frenzied abilities only on the field of battle and in carefully monitored training sessions. Any unauthorized frenzies result in immediate court martial.

Required Skills: 4k Reiatsu, plus 2k in another combat stat


Bomb Squad
These guys are the ones that make, employ, and detonate explosives. The BS is small but packed with trained officers who know what they are doing. Their bunker is located under a concrete courtyard layered with several layers of steel, concrete, and rebar. Frequent explosions can be heard from their testing field as they are constantly testing various explosives.

Frontline Attack Squad
When the battlelines are drawn and the troops sent to the front, the heaviest hitters will be lthe first ones met by the enemy. Those wearing a combination of the 11th's division kamon and the FAS kamon are among the proudest in the division and one's spot here has to be earned.

Required Skills: 5k Reiatsu, 6 months in the 11th division


Rear Guard Defense Squad
A step up from Regular Infantry, these guys are the ones in the rear and making sure it doesn't get kicked. These folks seem to have eyes in the backs of their heads and possess a keen spatial sense. The rings of the kamon represent the unity of the Rear Guard.

Regular Infantry
Pretty much everyone in the division falls here if they aren't in another squad. The symbol of the Regular Infantry is a stalk of bamboo, symbolizing strength, unity, and resilience.

General Seated Officer Jobs
6th Seats
These ones keep an eye on the 7th Seats and each 6th Seat usually has 5 7th Seats under him or her. Paperwork is maintained and submitted in terms of daily reports to the 5th Seats on the progress of each 7th Seat's group.

7th Seats
In charge of new shinigami mostly. The 7th Seats tend to have several new shinigami under their wing in a training unit and work with them to get them oriented into the 11th. They set up training schedules and assign duties for their teams.

8th Seats
These fellows are a rather hearty bunch and oversee the domestic chores. Usually, shinigami will have an 8th Seat and a 7th Seat that they take orders from and most 8th Seats are strictly on domestic duties and captains of various domestic teams- cooking staff, cleaning team, laundry team, etc.

Uniforms

The uniforms of the 11th division are easily the most distinctive among the Gotei 13 squads. Diega allows her division to wear their uniforms in a unique fashion though some pieces of the uniform must be worn, like rank insignia.


^ Kamon of the 11th. Seen **** near everywhere and on the right side of the uniforms on the chest as a patch. Also worn as a pin on the collar of the turtleneck.


^ Captain's cord, worn by Captain Diega Torres. The only difference is that there are three hanging cords and three cords looping over the shoulder.


^ Vice Captain's cord, worn by Vice Captain Iwakami. This cord also includes two shoulder knots.


^ Seated Officers 3rd-5th cord. A 3rd seat would have two shoulder cords with knots and one hanging cord. A 4th seat would have just two cords and knots while a 5th Seat would just have just one braid on his shoulder.


^ Seated Officers 6th-8th. A 6th Seat has two hanging cords, a 7th has one hanging cord, and an 8th seat has just a braid.


^ Seated Officers, worn atop both shoulders if a cord is not worn. It can be worn with a cord if a shinigami wishes.

Beliefs
The 11th Division that exists today is not all that different from the past 11th Divisions under different leaderships. Today, it emphasizes both teamwork and individual strength. The saying that one is only as strong as their weakest link holds very true here and while there is a certain arrogance in the upper ranks in terms of their strength, they will not hesitate to assist a weaker division member in helping them get stronger. Possessing the strongest comraderie in the Gotei 13, the 11th division is very close knit and it is rather rare to see one by themselves.

They all practically live, work, eat, and sleep together in the barracks with the exception of the Captain and a few others who live in their respective clan houses. Right now, most of the 11th lies above ground but all that is going to change when the new underground portion is built. Anyways, the purpose of them living together is to further strengthen their sense of comraderie and teamwork. 'A division that lives together, fights together, and survives together.' Chores are done by all ranks to ensure that the barracks and division quarters are kept clean and orderly. They encouraged not to hurry with the chores, but rather to do them right the first time.

Once such a brotherhood is formed, it is rare for members to leave and if they do, they are not just outcasted, but most of the other members will go out of their way to ostracize that member, especially if they transferred to another division. It's treated as high treason among the ranks. The only exceptions to this rule is if you transfer due to injury, disease, or the Captain herself transfers you.

2. The 11th Division has produced 4 other Captains, more than any other division to date.

Attitudes towards the other Divisions
The new 11th is not as hostile towards other divisions as previous divisions have been. The Captain recognizes that each division has a purpose and a use within the Gotei and they recognize the synthesis that exists when the divisions work together.
1st: Respected as being the Commander's division.
3rd: Always respected. Diega will not put up with anyone from her division disrespecting the 3rd for any reason. She also teaches her troops to protect and respect the healers at all times, during battle or on the streets.
8th: Always respected due to their scientific knowledge.
10th: Fun to party with due mostly to the drunk they have for a captain.
13th: Strange bunch.

Rules and Guidelines

While the law of Seireitei supercedes the law within the 11th, the additonal rules and regulations that Diega has put forth have tailored the conduct of the 11th to a slightly higher standard and to further reinforce Diega's ideals.

At any given time, one's rank within the division may be challenged by another, including Vice Captaincy. The challenge may be issued and the challengee must accept or risk forfeiture of their rank. The only exception to this is Diega's intervention or nullification of the the challenge. Regardless of the outcome of the match, the victor cannot be challenged for another 3 months.
