Personal Information

Physical Stature:

Age : 18
Race: Spurri (Laicar-Velen)

Despite his mixed blood, Lucian has very few characteristics of his Velen mother. He stands around 5’7”, with a slender but toned frame from years of a pedigree upbringing. His eyes are the blue-green colour of foamy ocean shallows, his skin slightly tanned like the sand that lines the shore. His head is adorned with muddy brown hair, kept neatly parted on the left, the only remnant of his highborn mannerisms. The only sign that he is of Velen decent as well as Laicar are small patches of greenish brown scales on his shins, forearms, and chest

Luc usually wears nice, dressy clothing, intentionally tousled and slightly frayed, but always nice enough to conceal the scales around his body. He’s typically found in long sleeve button-up shirts of any colour that isn’t glaringly bright and attention seeking, kept untucked, collar loosely fitted, occasionally with a vest and a tie haphazardly hung around the open collar. He wears nice black or brown pants, whichever goes best with the shirt, and leather shoes to match. In riskier areas, or just colder weather, he will don a grey cloak as well.

Persona

Lucian is the quintessential noble-turned-runaway. After years of etiquette classes, expensive tutors, formal parties and balls, and the ever-present undertone of disapproval for his bastard heritage, the young noble ran away. Luc’s disconnect from the “commoner’s world” left him naive to and curious of the world outside his family estate. This instilled in him a desire to explore and learn, not in a stuffy academic setting, but from real-life experience.

Despite his vagabond attitude, Luc hasn’t been able to completely leave behind his upper class upbringing. The shame and discomfort of being a Spurii still haunts him. His taste for the finer things in life hasn’t abated, either. Fancy attire, personal grooming and appearance, and above all else, fine wine and food. This has led him to taking on odd jobs whenever he can, as well as petty theft when the legal income isn’t high enough. He also hasn’t fully rid himself of the naivete of a sheltered life, which often lands him in trouble.

Biography

Lucian was born into a wealthy family; his father, from a well known and respected merchant family, is a high ranking member of the Commercium, his mother simply a noblewoman in an arranged marriage. Being a marriage of convenience and profit, Luc’s father had no remorse for his wandering hands, and the man eventually got a Velen woman, his secretary at the Commercium, pregnant. Lucian’s parents did everything they could to hide the truth from him, and the world at large, hoping he would never question why he was different; it wasn’t a matter to be discussed, simply suppressed and ignored. They were ashamed of him, and he could feel it even though he wsn’t aware of it. The day he found out the truth was the day Lucian became a prisoner in his own family home.

The older he got, the more rebellious he became. He began by sneaking out of his room into parts of the house normally forbade to him. This escalated to truancy from his tutoring and formal events, mischievous pranks around the house, and unaccompanied trips out to all parts of the port city they lived in. But the harder Luc pushed his boundaries, the harder his parents pushed back, which only made him resent them more. Until finally, a few days before his sixteenth birthday, he ran away for good.

The former noble found himself on the streets, not as able to cope as he thought with only his academic knowledge and noble upbringing. He quickly lost hope and was considering returning to his parents when a small group of thieves, a ragtag group of runaways and orphans led by a cunning and sometimes cruel man named Umbrus, took an interest in him. He was taught how to defend himself, how and what to steal to survive, and thoroughly used for his knowledge of the rich and snooty. Until one day, after a botched mission, when Umbrus killed one of the children in a fit of rage. Lucian ran from the city and eventually made his way to Terminus.
