Saiyoisen’s zanpakutou is a katana of standard length with a straight lined hamon instead of the normal wave pattern, with a white tsuka. The guard is in the shape of two crescent moons; one open towards the blade and one open away from the blade. The saya is black with a white sageo, with the kojiri being shaped like a blade tip, not the traditional blunt cap.
The spirits that reside within Sai’s blade are Shishi, a pair of very large, stone, lion-dog guardians that keep watch at the front entrance of a Shinto shrine. The inner spiritual plane is an endless forest with a single shrine at the center, guarded by the two spirits. The building behind them consists of a single enormous room, bare except for a soft mat for Sai to practice. The spirits themselves rarely interact personally with training Sai, though they give soft nudges of guidance here and there in order to be able for him to come to his own conclusions about his own powers.
Shi Kai:
Kinin, Komainu!
“Return to your post, Komainu!
FORM:
Holding his zanpakutou straight out in front of him while saying the release phrase, the blade flashes, shatters, and is blown backwards onto his arms, forming a pair of gauntlets. They are intricately patterned with silver metal symbolizing the furious energy contiained within set on top of a flexible and thin yet extremely durable black cloth to cover the places on his arms requiring freedom of movement. The right wrist contains an image of one of the shishi with an open mouth, while the left wrist has a face with a closed one.
ABILITY: “Raging Sire”
The powers granted by the twin lions complement Sai’s own greatly. Powerful, flowing, yet merciful; all adjectives to be used when describing both him and his release. From the time of release, the lions’, and thus his gauntlets, begin to burn with raging furor for the destruction of their master’s enemy. This intensity is slow to come into the physical world initially and starts off as causing the gauntlets to be merely hot to the touch. Every round where he is involved in melee combat the intensity level increases by one, and every round he is not the intensity lessens by one. For each level of intensity, any enemy in close range takes that % of his reiatsu in heat damage. From intensity level one and up the lions’ rage causes the gauntlets to catch fire, causing his fists to make trails of fire as he moves and adding 1% of his reiatsu as fire damage to attacks; additionally, after the gauntlets have caught fire he can spend 2% of his own reiatsu to release the flame from his arms for a moment and make the arcs of fire snap out like a whip to attack at medium range. The maximum level of intensity for shikai is 3.
Ban Kai:
Gyoi Komainu
“Stone Guardians’ Imperial Garment”
FORM:
By uttering the release phrase, Sai calls forth the guardians in all of their fury from their post on his wrists in the restrained form of his initial release. With both gauntlets held with the faces on his wrists held outward and uttering “Bankai”, the spiritual entities burst forth from the armor on his wrists and fly up to his shoulders, all in a violent, swirling explosion of violet energy. Upon setting on their new position, the gloves shimmer and shoot up the remainder of his arms, creating armor on the full length of both arms from fingertips to neck, with the two spirits now transformed into large lion headed pauldrons, facing outward to each side, giving him several tons of mass to increase the force of his punches without a loss of speed.
ABILITY: “Burning Siege”
The burning power released during shikai is a pale comparison to the unbridaled wrath let loose upon the battlefield when the full powers of the guardians are released. The lion head pauldrons emit trails of smoke from their eyes with a faint candle of light emanating from their mouths. For each round fighting, the level of intensity of the fire increases by one, with no decrease for lack of combat; once the lions’ are truly let loose they refuse to go back. For each level of intensity, every enemy within close range takes that % of his reiatsu in heat damage. Starting at intensity level one, the lion heads ignite, shooting raging fire down his arms, causing large fire trails as he moves his arms and adding 2% of his reiatsu in fire damage in attacks; additionally, starting at intensity level three he is able to release the fire from his arms and send tree trunk sized arcs of flame to attack enemies at long range. The maximum level of intensity for bankai is 5.
ATTACK:
Gekirin
“Imperial Wrath”
In close combat, the ability to accurately land a blow can be the deciding factor in many a melee. Through
Gekirin Sai has developed an attack that eases that restriction and focuses on pure destructive force. By expending 5% of his own energy, Sai releases the mental block from the flames for just an instant, causing the guardians to break from their places on his shoulders and burn anything in range mercilessly; creating a clawing, slashing, ripping, fiery tornado, with which all creatures within 30 feet are subject to. An attack of pure violence without prejudice.
ATTACK 2:
Hasamiuchi Komainu
“Stone Guardians’ Pincer Attack”
Upon designation of a single enemy, Sai expends 5% of his own reiatsu as a catalyst to start this attack. The small fire smoldering in both pauldrons ignite with a roar as a gigantic, ethereal copy of the front half of the lions burst forth in an explosion of flame, one from each side. Flying to opposite sides of the enemy; they both utilize their powerful limbs to slice into them, with all of their claws intersecting like a deadly chain link fence, creating 81 points of destruction on the enemy pinned between them.
Owe ya an attack still.
