RADIO KAEMON (and Yasuo) GOLDEN PRESENTS:
SOUL DATA PROJECT F.A.Q.

Well what is it?
The Soul Data Project is an effort to comprehend just the total composition of a soul and stretches not only into the fields of Soul Transfer development, but Spiritron dynamics as well. Over the millennia the research has been active many applications for the Project have been developed including, but not limited to, soul/spiritron regeneration, elimination, augmentation, and even the reanimation of traits made dormant by reincarnation. Being very broad in scope, the only limit to what researchers in this field can achieve is the degree to which they are bound by their imagination.

Who started it?
Details on the true facts of when, where, why, and who started the Soul Data Project has been lost in the ages since it started. However, it is widely accepted amongst most researchers that the Project was started by the First Vizard, whose identity is also unknown, or one of his first converts. In more recent times, the Army of Masks added a new caste, the Yashin (Ambition), to their ranks to specialize in and monitor all affairs concerning the Soul Data Project. This caste was initially formed by the current Overseer of the Fukushu Vizards and it is rumored that his successor is still heavily influenced by the Lord of Vengeance.

Why did they start it in the first place?
According to speculation put forth by the Central 46 based on field reconnaissance by the Onmitsu Kidou, the Vizards probably started the Project en masse due to serious flaw in their Soul composition that develops when they attain their Hollow mask. Popular belief dictates that Vizards can not reincarnate properly once their soul has been torn asunder to create room for both Shinigami and Hollow aspects. Arrancar need not worry since it's been documented that their souls are purified when slain with a Zanpakutou, but there hasn't been any evidence showing that Vizards have the same benefit. Additionally, then and now, the Army of Masks has always been outmanned by the forces of Seireitei, so augmenting their troops to outclass the Shinigami has always been a priority to streamline the success of their efforts to overthrow the Central 46.

Other than the Vizards, who else has researched the Project?
The Shinigami of the Gotei 13 as well as the Arrancar leading various bands of Hollows in Hueco Mundo have also been known to conduct experiments pertaining to sequencing the Soul Data.

Well if it was a Vizard project initially, how did it leak to their enemies?
Around the time of the Great Hollow War, the Army of Masks had spent centuries of intensive research into the Project only to enjoy limited success. The present Fukushu Overseer, who then was an officer in the Handan caste, was in charge of the Vizard effort on the Soul Data and proposed a bold plan to finish sequencing the data: to leak the data to the Shinigami, who with the much larger resource base of Seireitei stood a greater chance of filling in the holes.

Okay, well then, if the Shinigami had it, how did the Arrancar/Hollows get it?
Once the Vizard plans to leak the Project to the 12th Division Captain at the time, Suikuske Oowanryuu, were complete, the Army of Masks had to find a way to "steal" back the research the Shinigami finished. This involved two things: infiltration of the Gotei to monitor the Suikuske's progress and to find a way to distract the Shinigami while the sequenced Soul Data was being "stolen." The first part of the plan was easy enough as the Jonetsu Overseer herself infiltrated the Gotei and rose to prominence as the 4th Division Captain, Inoue Taka. With spies now in place all over Seireitei being led by the stealthiest Vizard in their ranks, the Army of Masks simply needed a distraction. The young Handan officer, today's Fukushu Overseer, brought up an idea, have an ambitious Arrancar named Emptybones sack Seireitei for a magnificent treasure that would make him stronger than he was now. So, by giving Emptybones a small morsel of their sequenced Soul Data technology, the Vizards were able to guide the Arrancar to allying with the infamous White Corona and the brilliant Brainfang to stage the greatest "distraction" in the history of the spirit world.

So, the Vizards shaft the Shinigami and the Arrancar just to get their last upgrades. Well, why is their a conflict over the Soul Data Project now if the Great Hollow War took place?
Well, the Vizards miscalculated severely by approaching an Arrancar as powerful as Emptybones to be their decoy. Emptybones himself discovered Inoue Taka as a Vizard and discovered that the Army of Masks were baiting him for something larger. In the end, he broke the deal with the Vizards and started acting on his own accord, "killing" the persona of Inoue Taka and effectively forcing the Jonetsu Overseer and her surveillance to leave Seireitei. Subsequently, a young Shinkou Masaru and Seiji Yasuo also sniffed out the conspiracy in the Gotei 13, namely the 12th Division's new Captain, Karappo Kotsu (Emptybones incognito) and fled from Seireitei, dismantling and dispersing what the Shinigami had finished of the Soul Data Project. The rest is history, but in the end it seems as if parts of the Project ended up within the Hollow ranks and with a few select Shinigami, including Seiji Yasuo and his allies. With his plan absolutely ruined, the young Handan officer who had came up with this grand scheme suffered a demotion from his current standing as the Overseer of the newly formed Yashin caste. ...Though it would not be long before he returned to power, this time as the Overseer of the much more overtly aggressive Fukushu Vizard caste.

Well then, where exactly do the present-day Gotei fit into all of this?
Today's Gotei is one that has been, up until now, been relatively free of the effects of the Soul Data Project affair. However, it caused the first Great Hollow War to occur, and it is currently driving the flames of this Second Great Hollow War. Seiji Yasuo and the Sanbagarasu are the specialists concerning everything about the Soul Data fiasco and are doing their best to make sure that this current generation of Shinigami are freed from its curse. Nonetheless, they will need cover from the Hollow hordes surrounding Seireitei in order to set things right. If you guys can keep the Hollows in the spotlight, we'll take care of things backstage.

Anything else we should be worried about?
Taking the battlefield for the first time in centuries could be Recombinant Hollows. These creatures known as Shifters have been presented to the Captains as "transient" creatures that are not capable of being killed by any conventional means. While they are normally docile, when provoked they become menaces of unimaginable ferocity. They will be easy to bring down at first, but once regenerated, usually within an hour, their behavioral patterns become more complex and intelligent. Currently, the Sanbagarasu are researching how to neutralize these considerable threats, but as of now all Shinigami forces are to STAY AWAY from Shifters and are to bring them down only if they are threatening key Shinigami interests.

As a final note, this scroll has been imbued with a degree of artificial intelligence; should you have another question, writing onto this paper should yield an answer.

(That means post questions, if you have 'em --- Yasuo)

If encountered with a shifter and forced to fight, by what means would be best to go about such things? Are any clues about this matter even known to us?

Kaemon says: Strategically speaking, taking advantage of its long neck should be of prime importance. To be as prehensile as it is, the neck of a Shifter is quite easy to cut through and should disable the creature long enough for severe damage to be dealt to its anterior surface.

Yasuo says: A word of caution, the head and neck won't be gone for long thanks to the creature's near-instant regeneration. Additionally when severed, the head and neck can act independently as a worm-like creature to defend the bulk that it left behind. These Shifter-wyrms as we've dubbed them are considered to be anywhere from B to A-Rank in skill capacity and should be somehow restrained before focusing one's offense on the rest of the Shifter.

Remember though, the entire thing will resurrect shortly anyway much more tenacious than before. The best means of combatting them would be to somehow move them away from where they are attacking through the use of a lure or bait. You only do them a favor by killing them, so do your best to distract them; they aren't stupid however and will eventually refocus on its task at hand after a while.

Can the arrancar manipulate these shifters. And, stupid question, being docile do they have no allegiance or are they considered enemies even if they don't attack us.

Yes, the Prime Driver Shifter located within Hueco Mundo is allied with Emptybones, but was originally created by Brainfang. The Shifter Drones that you'll encounter in the field during the next plot missions are docile, but can be provoked by either friendly or enemy forces; so count on them being fairly livid during battle. The Drones can't help but be driven by the objectives which are relayed to them by their Prime Driver.

From what i have read, is there no means of purifying it? And to my understanding the only way to do it is to destroy/kill the Prime Driver Shifter?

*Currently, there are no known ways to purify a Shifter; the soul(s) that was/were augmented to create the monstrosity must be destroyed outright.

*The only two ways to wipe them out permanently are as follows:

1) Destroy or disable all five Shifter drones within a short, minute-long window and then proceed to find and destroy the Prime Driver before it can revive the drones.

2) Destroy the Prime Driver and then turn efforts towards the drones before they can revive it within the hour.

All in all, method 1 is recommended much more than method 2 given that the current location of the Prime Driver is unknown and suspected to be deep within Hueco Mundo.

I was wondering that too..

is there some way that we can delay the regeneration processeven just a little bit longer to buy us some time?

Nothing that the Sanbagarasu have been able to discover really works to sever the link the drones have tot he Prime Driver. Since they've been labeled as "transient" creatures, they exist not only in the sole location where their physical body stands, but also wherever there are other drones and the Prime Driver as well. So for example:

At all times ---

Drone A has pieces of B, C, D, E, PrD
Drone B has pieces of A, C, D, E, PrD

So on, so forth...

Again, the code for regeneration in their soul composition is present in all six Shifters (5 Drones + 1 PrD) even if you could somehow rewrite the contents of their soul (which is possible with existing Soul Data technology), the others would override your edits immediately. Now, if you manage to somehow rewrite them all simultaneously, there's still the issue of the Arrancar monitoring the status of the PrD. If for some reason the PrD can not self-correct its code and the code it supplies to the drones, the Arrancar will do it manually.

What happens if a shifter is consumed by a hollow?
Interestingly enough, the defense mechanism here is unique in that the Recombinant creature in question here, a Shifter Drone, will actually convert the Hollow eating it into a new Drone. The code for the drone's soul composition is actually diseminated throughout the spiritual fiber of the new host and bends it to the PrD's will.

As for consuming the PrD? It's highly unlikely this will happen since the PrD is already a high-level Recombinant that only a few Arrancar/Hollows can match up to. But if for some reason the PrD is defeated, the residual data housed in its Drones will cause the survivors to pick amongst its ranks to elect a new PrD. The number of Drones is reduced, but all the Arrancar or the PrD has to do is introduce the Drone "virus" into another soul.

There are only 5 Drones at this time because of the limited progress of research on "transient" beings in the Soul Data Project.

um.. yeah, shifters. scary.. >_>

so, my question may be completely irrelevant, but i'm just curious. basically, i'm just wondering, what about the vizards? if currently there are pieces of the soul data project in hollow/arrancar, vizard and shinigami hands, and at the moment our resources are pretty much entirely allocated to dealing with the threat of hollows trying to get their hands on our pieces of it, shouldn't we be worried that this is another distraction created to give the vizards the chance to get their hands on both the hollow and shinigami pieces of the project while said forces are busy killing each other?

(particularly since the yashin overseer seems to be heavily influenced by lord doom over in fukushu, and lord doom seems to have his hate on after the whole humiliating failure thing he went through last time, and may just possibly want to stand on heaven to prove his uberness and make up for his deep-seated insecurities?)

soooo... should we maybe look beyond the hollow threat and put some resources into finding out what the vizards are up to, or do seiji-sama and the sanbagarasu have that all under control?

What about the Vizards indeed.

Something strange has occurred in this round of affairs; the Vizards have not only made themselves visible to select Shinigami, but they've also taken steps to secure the safety of these said individuals. So far, the overall consensus amongst the Sanbagarasu is to be wary of their strangely open nature and focus on capturing pieces of the Soul Data that are not already in Vizard hands.

The lack of information is troubling, but as of this moment, the movements of the Army of Masks is highly detailed and reliable information in the possession of Yasuo and his allies. It's almost as if they're waiting for something to happen...

In testimony given to Yasuo by Uji, the Handan caste's Herald, the Vizards are not aiming for a war to solve their problems this time around given the disastrous results of the last time they tried to do that. By tradition, a Handan's word when given without their mask on is a sign of honesty (though, it's not really complete insurance either).

(particularly since the yashin overseer seems to be heavily influenced by lord doom over in fukushu, and lord doom seems to have his hate on after the whole humiliating failure thing he went through last time, and may just possibly want to stand on heaven to prove his uberness and make up for his deep-seated insecurities?)
lol, "LORD DOOM."

Curiously enough, Yasuo keeps very quiet about the Fukushu Overseer. It's almost as if they've met under quite the circumstances in the past... It's almost as if he's somber about something whenever that Vizard is mentioned.

Don't tell Yasuo, but Nimuro's been looking into this himself and it seems it has do with something that Yasuo failed to accomplish back when he had to flee from Seireitei into Rukongai...

All in all, from what I gather, the Vizards are in a semi-schism right now; looks like the Fukushu want to overthrow the Handan for virtual leadership of the Vizard castes... Be that as it may, Emptybones and the Hollow horde are the most visible enemies and the ones we should probably take care of first since the Vizards have Uji's word to back up their credibility not to backstab the Shinigami.

soooo... should we maybe look beyond the hollow threat and put some resources into finding out what the vizards are up to, or do seiji-sama and the sanbagarasu have that all under control?

*points to timestamp as excuse for illogical ramblings*
All in all, we have it under control I suppose, but we can't be everywhere at once. Maybe you guys will spot something suspicious during the battle with the Hollows outside of Seireitei's walls? If you all can come up with sufficient evidence to suggest foul play is going on, maybe we can catch the Vizards in the act somehow.

So if forced to fight a shifter, it would be wise to fight it in at least a pair, Right?

So that after the head is severed, one would fight the head and th other fight the body.

also is it possible to organize a mass slaying of the shifters?

It would slowly kill the Shifter if it was left to continuously corrode and regnerate on the Bloodstone. However, in order to kill it that way, you'd have to pin there and leave it to "burn" for about as long as a day.

Fighting Shifters, and all higher-level Hollows and Recombinants in general, in groups is nearly mandatory for the average player in this RP.

And yes, that is what I'm hinting at for a possible final confrontation in this arc. Somehow being able to take them all out at once in a massive orchestrated offensive.
