This chapter took several unexpected turns, but I'm really enjoying the layers of intrigue. I also really like the way you detail the surroundings whenever Micali is traveling, really driving home how familiar the process is, how much baggage she carries from the Insidiis. Micali is also a relatable and believable character, skilled and experienced where she should be, but able to be caught off-guard. In your earlier writings, I made a lot of comparisons to Kill Bill, but while there are still certain shared elements, Micali has grown into her own distinct character from the Bride, and the plot has grown as well.
This chapter leaves a lot of interesting questions unanswered, pieces that are waiting to click into place with the rest of the plot. It's enjoyable trying to fill in the blanks, and that's one of the hallmarks of a good mystery: having enough to mentally chew on while leaving the truth just out of reach. As always looking forward to more.
