Call of the Sea

Call of the Sea is a first person puzzle adventure game. You play as Norah, a woman with a mysterious illness. Her dear old pal Harry has gone off searching the world for a cure, but he has disappeared! Norah then mysteriously receives a letter one day with a location. She sets off in the hopes of finding her dear old pal again. Only the letter eventually leads her to a mysterious island full of ancient structures.

Find it on Steam.

Will you answer?

Call of the Sea is a fun little romp through an tropical island filled with mysteries. Since Norah is sickly, she isn’t exactly fast or graceful, but I got used to the slower pace of her movement soon enough. Also, the fresh air is doing her good, so she is able to run around if you don’t want to walk everywhere.

The game is divided into chapters, and each chapter is a zone so you never have too much to keep track of. Each chapter does have some nice visual differences, even if it is all on the same island. The locales are as inviting in their mystery.

A strange dagger.

As you explore, Norah will automatically take notes. These notes will all be useful for the puzzles, so what she writes down is sort of a clue on how to solve the challenges you encounter.

Puzzle time!

There are a good variety of puzzles and little in the way of inventory management. It is mostly finding symbols and figuring out how to properly apply them. And all while you’re exploring, Norah will be giving her comments or reading old logs from Harry’s expedition on what they found during their time on the island.

Explore the camp.

Slowly, you’ll discover things on the island aren’t what they seem. And you’ll also discover the fate of the missing expedition. Suffice it to say, there is a dark secret going on, and the sea is calling.

This is not looking good.

The deeper you go into the island, the more it’ll entice you with its hidden secrets.

Call of the Sea is a fun first person adventure game with some good puzzles that provide a decent challenge. The game will helpfully highlight interactables, though you can turn that off if you want. The setting and atmosphere are both great with gorgeous island scenery and strange rock formations to accompany you.

Go explore the strange island in Call of the Sea.

When you sea it.
