Hello everyone! Finally I have decided to just do it, create an account and be a part of PT. Or at least I want to be, if you'll have me;)

I've been nosing arount the site for some days now and I must say that I like what I see. I come from a bleach rpg named Bleach Gotei and a user named Dysney/Machie recommended PT to me. No idea if she's still here...
Anyway, I like the thought of an original game, no fanfic or stuff. And I particularly like the setting here. So, here I am...

If you'd like a few words about me: I am now playing various rpgs for more than 15 years, including pen&paper. But forum games where always a big piece of that, because who has time to play p&p as often as one would like? And I love rpgs a a way to create a story of my own an unwind a bit from reality which, lets be honest, can be quite frustrating and tiring at times.
Apart from that I fill my freetime with friends, my bands (jep, plural), bows and arrows, pans and pots, books and gamepads... Pretty normal and boring guy, aren't I? ;)

Okay, enough blabbering. For now.

Hey there, welcome to PT! Dys is very much still around, although life keeps her busy (frustrating and tiring, as you say). I'm Will.

Not sure about normal, but you sound normal for this crew. I'm right there with you all the way, including bows and arrows, except personally I don't have a lick of musical talent. What sort of music do you do in your bands?

As for the RP itself, feel free to ask any questions if they come to mind. Hop in the Discord channel any time, too. Always glad to have more players.

Hey :) thanks for the welcome.

I do metal. I play bass in both bands and help out with a little background-growling ;) one is a more melodic band with many different metal influences and a rather classic four-man-lineup (called Outlaw Pariah, can be found on fb and insta. We're working on our first album atm) and three different vocals (kinda cool: one clean singer, one high screamer and me as deep growler). The other one is a bit more into hardcore with the singing style and has a bit more complex riffs but is only a three-man-band (this one's called Pilot Projekt and has no social media yet).

For the rp there are a lot of questions. For examplr I don't really understand the item and ability system. The buying and crafting part: are there npcs for that or do I need to find a pc? And the releases...as far as I understood it one can have either a technical, magical or biological "release" which has two stages and can do pretty much anything a player can dream up. Right?

The standart skills are pretty clear, though

You and I are going to get on juuuust fine.

I've been playing guitar and doing backing vocals in various metal bands for years (mostly a band called Curse of Dawn on facebook, though that stopped a while ago, and now a solo home-recording project called Fight the Tornado, also on facebook). Working on my first five-track EP with Fight the Tornado, playing guitar, bass and doing most of the singing and screaming. It's also going to be pretty proggy, because that is just my nature.

As for your RP questions, as far as items go, you make an item with a specific ability that has a cost (at starting level, it will be using dahlitium materials and usually has a cost of around 250 vigor) and if you don't have the required crafting skills, you can chat to other players and see if you can collaborate with someone who does have the skills to do it.

The Magnum (Release) explanation you gave is about it. Pick one: Augur (draws power from an artifact), Artificer (draws power from an Ars which is crafted onto the body), Vistra (draws power from a parasite attached to them). Then gain two abilities limited by your imagination (though it's usually better if you stick to a theme). Depending on what they do, they may have a so-many turn cooldown, vigor costs or both, but generally that's about it.

Oh, and welcome to the family. :)

Ahoy and welcome aboard the good ship PT! We are happy to have you on this RP voyage, Kyojin. It's always good to have a new, eager face on the crew. I'm sure you'll find a great deal to enjoy here. I certainly have! Everyone here knows me as Moonie so that is how I shall introduce myself.

The others have nicely addressed your questions, so I won't do that. What I will do is tell you that you won't find a better group of people with whom to RP (or talk or share your life's trials and tribulations if you so wish). I have known a lot of the people here for years because of writing with them and I can tell you that you are joining a great group of human beings. :D

Well, I guess I'll learn as I go. I have read and am still reading alk the rules and background stuff but it's just so much to take in. I'm thinking maybe just jumping in, making a char and getting help and all the answers with the help of an practical example. How hard can that be? (quoting Jeremy Clarkson here)

Again many thanks for the warm welcome. I already like it here. Let's see were this goes from here and what strange things and far countries we explore together ;)

Jumping in is probably the best bet. We're all here to have fun, you don't have to treat it like you're studying for an exam just to get started! Think about what sort of character you want to write, then consider what's the best way to realize that character with the races and skills available to you. The safest drop-point is Terminus, but you can pick just about anywhere on the globe to start (except the Denuntiares mountains, they'll eat you alive... or the middle of the ocean. Unless you're a velen, then the middle of the Copiae is probably a valid starting place.)

Araevis as a world was created as a mostly-blank slate, and there's room for towns, cities, even countries that haven't been written into the map, yet. If you want to create something new and add to the world, go for it. Examples of countries added by players: Songen (aka PT-Japan), Vahlmoor (kingdom of people too friendly with the dead), and Aselia Astra (everyone loves sky islands).

As for gear, the forum tracks two currencies (more than that, but two main ones). 'Latens' will be what you spend on skill upgrades, and 'exa' is your cash. You can spend both in the Shop (check the top bar of the forum) OOG, and IG you can write acquiring the items however fits best. Like it costs 250 exa for a sword, but in-game it could be a family heirloom handed down over generations. The exa cost is just a small balancing factor.

Crafting is cheaper than buying straight from the market, but you have to RP about it. It also goes further than the regular shop can, so making friends with a player that has crafting skills may be a good idea.

Then I will do exactly that: jump right in. I have a certain picture in my head for a character and though it may take a little time carving out the details I need for a proper application I think the rough outline already stands.

You have enlightened me greatly with the whole item thing. I wanted to ask about it but you gave the most impirtand answer already. So it is like in some p&ps: you get a starting amount of money with which you buy your starting gear outgame but posess it maybe for years ingame. Nice. Btw: i like it that you really have an actual shop, programmed and all. Makes me feel like playing an old SNES rpg. And those were the really good old times...
