So despite the sample chapter which I've been working on for months, I wrote all of this when I couldn't sleep last night. I think I edited it alright, but I'm at work, so who knows. Let me know if my grammar are horrible or I repeat words or forgot how to use punctuation or something.

But really, Amaya’s hair is shoulder length and dark brown and she has sharp brown eyes. She stands 5’ 9” and is a lean 125 lbs. The woman is toned from years of constant combat, which is also evident from the numerous scars that cover her body. Amaya has grown into a simplistic woman, only ever carrying what she needs to fight. She has a large tattoo on her stomach (see photo). Seriously I paid a lot of money for this commission. So just look at it.

Persona: Amaya is hot heated, bold, and outspoken. She is quick to fight and has a tendency to judge others before really knowing them. She relies on her instincts above all else, and she is massively stubborn. Repeated heartbreak, abuse, and betrayal has made it difficult for Amaya to trust anyone. Still there are a few individuals that she has long standing relationships with whom trust comes more easily.

Despite her stubbornness, Amaya still looks up to the Captains and Vice Captains of the Divisions. She is loyal to them, and ready to learn from them. This loyalty is firm, even at times when Amaya disagrees with her superiors, which is common.

Biography: Amaya is a veteran Shinigami, who has seen a great deal of combat. During the war in Hueco Mundo she led half of the Eleventh Division underneath a battle between the dread Espada Esqueleto and various Captains. In that war she faced and slay countless hollow, a particularly powerful vizard, and survived an encounter with an Arrancar. In subsequent missions Amaya survived a captivity and torture by an advent human bent on slaying shinigami who would later serve a larger role in her life as a whole. These achievements along with many other missions resulted in Amaya’s promotion to Fifth Seat of the Eleventh Division.

This rank was short lived however, as Amaya was disgraced, and sentenced indefinitely to the Seventh Division for attacking a Rukongai citizen. This assault was on the man who had been her father in her previous life. This man had abused Amaya most of her childhood and had caused her severe psychological and physical trauma. Amaya was taken into captivity by the current Captain of the Eleventh, Yuzuki Masato, whom Amaya had grown to trust, and more importantly love.

Amaya took this arrest as a personal betrayal from the Captain, which ignited a fire inside the woman and drove her to one day surpass the man. In her quest for vengeance Amaya eventually earned her freedom and returned to the Eleventh. The reason for this was due largely in part to two different factors. The first of which was her reconnecting with her brother from the past life. As an officer in the Twelfth he worked to free Amaya from the outside. Then as Yuzuki Masato disappeared, and Tsubaki took the Haori, Tsubaki used her new position to lobby for Amaya’s release, which eventually resulted in Amaya’s freedom.

In anticipation of Masato’s return Amaya trained and grew in power. Through various missions she was given the rank of Co Third Seat of the Eleventh. Once again this rank was short lived, as during the battle of Tokyo Amaya abandoned her post when she received a message from the Advent who had tortured her, claiming her had captured her brother.

When she caught up to the human she found her brother dead, and that she had been lured into a trap. Through means unknown to her, the rogue human opened a Garganta and sent Amaya to Hueco Mundo. There she stayed trapped for weeks, until she managed to befriend and Arrancar who sent the Duelist back to earth. Amaya repaid the Arrancar’s favor by killing him and returning to earth, as she was ever aware of her role as a Shinigami.

On her return she was sentenced to another, much shorter, stay in the Seventh Division. When she was released, Amaya was given her rank back. Afterwards, despite taking part in many missions, the duelist remained relatively out of sight, focusing on growing stronger in anticipation of Yuzuki Masato’s return.

During another mission to capture the rogue human who had plagued her years as a Shinigami, Amaya was defeated which resulted in a coma. She awoke months later, and despite her loss of memory about what had caused the coma, she was determined to find out what had happened to her, and track down the advent human.

Division / Seat: Eleventh Division, Fifth Seat

Zanpakutou: Sin: Unreleased Amaya’s zanpakutou is a battered and chipped black katana. The blade is made of obsidian glass, and fractures can be seen through the blade, although it never breaks. If one looks closely, the fracture divides the blades into seven sections. When light refracts through the blade each of the seven sections lightens ever so slightly to barely display a tint of one of the colors of the blades in its released form.

Amaya could see the eyes, the dark deep brown eyes that stuck in her mind even when she slept. Bodies moved past her, brushing against her skin, disgruntled insults were muttered, but still she stood motionless. His face was softer than it was the last time she had seen him, his jaw less pronounced. He had put on some weight, not enough that just anyone would notice, but Amaya had known this man better than most. But most of all the killing edge was gone from the brown eyes. Replaced by a nothingness that caused a twisting in Amaya’s gut as she gaped dumbfounded at the man.

It was Yuzuki Masato.

He was gone. It was written all over his eyes. She didn't know what had happened to him, but Yuzuki was missing. It had been her desire to see him again, to drive a sword through him, to show him just what she had become.

The moment was too much. Her lip twitched as fury rose inside of her, his voice ran through her head over and over again as she remembered when he had arrested her and banished her to the Prisons of the Seventh. It was all exactly the same. Her father had the same blank eyes, the same lack of recognition. She could feel it all bearing down on her, the similarities in the two moments consuming her mind.

Turning, Amaya shook her head as tears started to stream from her eyes. This was what she had found before she had gone into her coma. These were the eyes that had haunted her for the last months. Stumbling through the crowd, she struggled breathe. The tears were coming faster now, and she could only just make it to an alley leading out of the busy street market before collapsing and succumbing to the sobbing.

The one lesson Yuzuki had beat into her about her father, the one thing she had taken away from their last talks, was that Amaya had no right to attack her father because he had no recollection of what he had done to her. Had he been preparing her then for this moment, had he been protecting himself from her wrath?

The sobs only grew stronger, and her gasps for breath were so painful and exaggerated she was sure she was dying. There was nothing left. No drive, no need to grow. Yuzuki was beyond her reach.

“Some people are trying to sleep over here.” A rough voice muttered from deep in the alley. For a moment Amaya could only continue to sob, her body was beyond response. She kept hearing Masato’s voice in her head, condemning her for everything, smiling as he ripped inches off her heart. Now she could never say all of the things she had to say, could never drive a blade into him and watch his eyes change as he realized it was her, that she had done it. Amaya started to shake, crumbling against the alley wall with desperate heaving gasps.

“It’s too early in the morning to have a girl crying in my alley.” The man was hunched over in the depths of the street just far enough away that Amaya’s blade couldn’t reach him. She could hear the clink of a bottle and smelled the dark stink of whiskey on his breath.

“Who...” Amaya half choked, half asked.

“Just a concerned observer. It’s not everyday you come across a shinigami in these parts of the world.”

“How do you?” Amaya’s voice was raspy, but the sobbing was gone, and she was already pushing herself up, and reaching for Sin.

“Whoa there sister.” The man laughed. “You could get yourself hurt with one of those things. I’d hate to see that happen.” Amaya squinted into the darkness and saw the glint of a sword next to him.

“Don’t patronize me,” Amaya voice rang cold through the alley in response. For a moment she struggled to get her legs beneath her, her body still recovering from the aftermath of her episode. Still she managed to find a way to her feet before the man could respond. “Tell me who you are.”

“You stumble into my alley, and you’re making demands.” Despite how blurry her vision was, Amaya could see him shifting awkwardly to face her, his own hand resting on the glinting weapon at his side. “Tell me your name, and I’ll tell you mine.”

Amaya could feel the rage starting to bubble up in her stomach. She could feel her mouth opening to yell at him, to threaten him, but the moment overtook her. In its place she felt her mouth starting to water, and bile rising in her stomach. Hunching over and closing her eyes, she could still only see Yuzuki’s face, the faint traces of a beard grown from a few days without the need to shave, the slightly too long hair that would cover his eyes if he had to fight.

At that moment she slouched to her knees again, and any control she had regained failed. Retching, the bile rose with her anger for Yuzuki and her anger at this unknown man who was watching her at her weakest.

“Whoa, whoa, if your gonna puke, do it over there. Some of us were comfortable in misery without the smell.”

The man was leaning back now, gesturing away from her, but Amaya’s eyes were closed.

“Fuck... you...” Amaya croaked into the alley at the man. “Get away from me. Or so help me I’ll...”

“You’ll what?” Suddenly the voice was just above her, and she could smell the stale whiskey and cheap beer on his breath.

Suddenly Amaya felt his warm body against hers. At first she tried to shake and roll away from him, but his firm bulky arms held her in place. She felt herself being lifted, his arms supporting her as she made her way to her feet once again. She could feel the stickiness of his skin, as though he had recently been sweating despite the chill in the air.

“What are you doing?! Let me go!” Amaya’s voice was shrill as she strained her body against his in an effort to break free.

“Shhh, keep it down. We don’t want anyone getting the wrong impression.”

“And why wouldn’t I want to do that?!”

“Look,” The burly man shoved his free arm in front of Amaya, so she could see the insignia of the Twelfth Division on his sleeve.

“Weren’t you wondering how I can see you?”

“I...” she responded weakly.

“Come on, lets get you out of here. You’re a goddamn mess.”

For once, she didn’t feel like arguing.

They didn’t walk far, but each step took its toll on her body, and a few times she doubled over, dry heaving and gasping for breath. Eventually they arrived at an old wooden door. As they approached Amaya heard the jingling of keys. Suddenly Amaya realized what was happening. This man, whoever he was was taking her into his home. Shaking her body, Amaya tried feebly to escape his grasp. She could already feel herself starting to slip away, the darkness was coming to take her. And despite her scratching and yelling the stranger opened the door to the apartment.

Once they were inside he silently carried her to the bed, completely ignoring the shallow wounds her nails opened in his arms. Gingerly he swept h off her feet, and before she could respond he placed her in the bed. Immediately he took a step back.

“Don’t” Amaya’s voice was feeble, and her breaths were shallow and short. “Don’t...” but the darkness took her, and she was gone.

A fan of sheathes on her back does not seem like a combat necessity. And you just got enough actual physical descriptions so that's fine.

Some minor mistakes here and there.
“Some people are trying to sleep over here.” A rough voice muttered from deep in the alley.

This is one sentence, like how you have it later, so it should be
“Some people are trying to sleep over here,” a rough voice muttered from deep in the alley.

“Whoa there sister.” The man laughed. “You could get yourself hurt with one of those things. I’d hate to see that happen.” Amaya squinted into the darkness and saw the glint of a sword next to him.

I think this would work better with Amaya squinted... being merged into the next paragraph, since Amaya is doing the action, and typically that represents a different paragraph since it's not the same person doing the speaking. If you want to mention his blade glinting in the same paragraph, you could just do it without mentioning Amaya noticing it.

“Look,” The burly man shoved his free arm in front of Amaya, so she could see the insignia of the Twelfth Division on his sleeve.

“Weren’t you wondering how I can see you?”

Assuming I'm reading this right, the "Weren't you wondering..." is still spoken by the man It would work better as part of the same paragraph. Such as:
“Look,” the burly man shoved his free arm in front of Amaya, so she could see the insignia of the Twelfth Division on his sleeve, “weren’t you wondering how I can see you?”

or, if you want it as two sentences:
“Look.” The burly man shoved his free arm in front of Amaya, so she could see the insignia of the Twelfth Division on his sleeve. “Weren’t you wondering how I can see you?”

The burly man isn't directly describing how the dialoge was spoken, so it's not part of the same sentence unless you sandwich it in between two peices of dialogue that counts as once sentence.

But anyway, suplex it, jump all other application steps, you're approved.
