Back in the out parts of town, the young boy found a couple of people he had spent a lot of time together with in his earlier days. Even though his family made him the person that he is today, all was not made by them. This group of people had a bad influence on the boy when he first arrived in Rukongai. The only thing he knew from his life on earth was crime, as opposed to today. As such, he adopted into the worse circles and kept his previous life as a soul. He eventually got on better foot with himself and learned how to act as a real person.
"I need information,” the young shinigami said as he leered at one of his old acquaintances. "It’s about what has happened around town. I need to know who those people are”
Even though these people were the lowlifes of these parts, you would only need to glance at them to notice that they were terrified of the horrors that resided near their home town. Eiji thought that he had touched a sensitive point in their lives, but that didn’t matter. He needed good information quickly. Without it, he could probably not stop what had been going on for what seemed a while now.
He grabbed one of the boys in front of him by his collar and delivered a right fist straight to his face. Without letting go of him, Eiji pulled his hand back once more. The sun had gotten low behind the mountains a while ago and there was not a decent soul to be found outside. I could probably continue with this all night. If someone tries something, they probably won’t get far against me. One again the dark-haired brute released a punch towards the thug. He had hit his face once again and he was flung back a few yards as he let go of him.
"So will you tell me something now?” he asked as he walked towards another one of them.
The gang of boys replied quickly. They told him all about the men he had seen previously and about their rituals. Unfortunately, they had not known anything about where the hollows came from.
"They probably have a base somewhere around where they held their ritual.” Eiji started walking towards the middle of the town as he made his way back to where he had left his shinigami attire. The building was only a moment away, and the boy was in a hurry.
As he entered the room where he had previously resided, he found someone he didn’t think he would see there. "Marie,” he said, surprised that the female shinigami had arrived at the scene. "What are you doing here?”
She looked at him and smiled. "You need my help,” she said as she walked up to him and punched him in the gut. "And why didn’t you call me earlier?”
He looked at Marie. What the hell does she mean why didn’t I call her earlier? I sent her that damn hell butterfly and she even replied, and sent those people. He grabbed his shihakushou and went to the back to change.
"Marie, what the hell are you talking about?” the young boy replied. "I sent you that jigokuchou, and you even sent me that group of people for help!”
He exited the room quietly and grabbed the female shinigami by her sleeve. "Let’s get out of here fast,” he whispered as they both started running toward the forest where he had been visited by the group of assassins. I can probably call them if I send out a message. But how the hell did they know that I send for help, and how did they intercept my messenger?
Before he had a chance to exit the forest, a loud voice called his name. As he looked back, he saw the silhouette of an elder man. "Who is that?” the young boy asked the shinigami next to him.
Just before she answered, she glared at him and smacked him over the head. "Idiot, look closer,” she said as she bowed before the old man. "It’s Oji-san”
The shinigami turned around towards the old man. "Oji-sama.” He embraced the old man tightly as he kept staring at him. In front of him stood a man almost a foot shorter than him. Even though he had looked good only a few years earlier, it seemed as if age had struck him. He was a lot skinnier than before and his clothes were all torn up.
"Eiji,” the old man said. "Is that really you?”
The brawler let go of the old man and took a step back to get a better look at him. This can’t be! He couldn’t have aged this much in only a few years. There must be something wrong.
"Old man,” the young boy uttered. "What has happened to you and the town?”
"Oh worry not young boy. You should not care about this old man or this old town. We can take care of ourselves.” He stuck his hand down the kimono he was wearing and pulled out an item wrapped in a brown cloth. The item was not bigger than a lower arm and was immediately handed to the shinigami. "This is the Ookami no Tsume. It shall aid you in your quest for salvage. Make sure to use it wisely and do not abuse this power.”
Eiji looked at the man who had given him the chance to become a shinigami and smiled. "Thank you, Oji-sama,” he said as he grabbed him and hugged him once more. "I shall not waste what you have given me.”
Just as he let turned around and faced Marie, the old man had disappeared. Eiji slowly opened the package that had been given to him and grabbed the item inside of it. This is the item that the old man wore when he trained me. He slowly put both gloves on his hands and threw away the cloth. He faced the forest in front of them and glanced at his peer.
