"I wonder what he wants to accomplish today..." the healer mused to herself, holding her scarf close to her as the nippy Japanese winds whipped around from different directions. Silvery eyes staring ahead, taking in the surreal experience of being above the clouds.
Right.
Instead of the grass swaying with the breeze, instead of a fog rolling across the earth, instead of a forest standing around her, this place was very different, so beautiful and free. From the ice-capped mountain on which she stood, the afternoon sun barely peeked from the horizon, with clouds rolling across the floor of what seemed to separate heaven and earth.
It was breathtaking, in a literal and figurative sense. A shinigami on the human world is already bad enough, the lack of reishi in the air proving it an unpleasant experience to bear. But a shinigami on a high altitude where even human bodies have difficulties in keeping up. She could not feel it much, but something at the back of her mind says it will worsen, if they take this too long.
Somehow, I do hope that he accomplishes it fast, whatever it is.
The bamboo doors of the senkaimoon parted as Theo’s tiny feet stepped into the frigid snow. Oddly enough the child enjoyed cold things and embraced them. He took in a deep breath of the mountain air before exhaling the exhausted respiration. From one extreme to the other, first it was a hot salt flat and now a serene mountain top. The scenery did not bother him so much as the reason for him being there. It was true he had issued the challenge to the woman but it was only for his own personal gain.
The vapor from his breath hung around his neck as he struggled to get a grip on just how hard it was to breath. “No turning back now Shidari-sama.” He trudged on before being stunned by the warmth of the sun and Ansherina Miyahara. He hated to admit it but it felt nice, her unbridled warmth could be felt deep into his bones as the harsh cold brought his thoughts back to what he had come to accomplish.
The wind blew fiercely as his lulled words crawled to her ears. “You are looking well Miyahara-sama” It seemed that every time the two met there was some extenuating circumstance that made them enemies or at least from Theo’s perspective. This was again once of those times.
Another fierce breeze rushed past as the shadow of a smile crept on the healer's rosy lips. At least, although they seemed to meet during rather unfortunate circumstances, the little arcanist seemed to have a degree of respect. Impeccable mastery of lip service, if not that.
"I am quite well, mister Holiday, as per your keen observance," Ansherina spoke, smiling slightly at the smaller shinigami. "Somehow, I feel that it is safe to assume that you are, as well, considering you have called me out to reclaim your place on our division's roof. It is of note, of course, that you still find it more... thrilling to be on the Fourth's roofs than the First's observatory's roof. Something tells me that I should be flattered that you are willing to go that far."
She simply stood there, mildly amused at the young man. What could have happened if, out of humor, she decided to let André take her place? It would have been a feud between children. That would, of course, have been highly insulting to Theodoor.
"Or were you here to show that you have, via the courtesy of another division's roof, mastered Kaiousei no Tate?" There was a smile on her lips, with the same kind of cheer in her eyes. However, something in her voice indicated that it was more than just a friendly inquiry. Whatever that is, though, was definitely left for the arcanist to decide.
