The young intellectual awaited the entrance of his soon to be partners in the great quest he had set to undertake. He sat in the middle of the room with his legs crossed and Shidari situated on his lap. His azure blue eyes gazed upon the vacant room with a horrifying darkness for someone so young. Sleepless nights and paranoia would begin to take their toll on the young shinigami’s mind. He had never attempted something like this before especially for the reasons he intended. A nock on the door announced the research team’s arrival as they gangly group shuffled into the room in an excited rush.Sai as Theo would come to call him was at the head of the group. His eager smile was only a quick reminder of the man’s enthusiasm toward the subject matter. Two more men accompanied the Researcher, Gama and Beta. Apparently they were twins that enjoyed going by these names; their actual names would never be disclosed to Theo. With a quick halt to the commotion they finally took a seat.
“Theo my man, this here is Gama and Beta. Best programmers I know although they would never admit it. Ain’t that right guys!?” His fist made contact with Beta’s arm in comradeship. The two men were tall to say the least, stretching an easy six feet into the air. Their spider like appendages only accented the pair’s enormity. Each sported a ponytail that was tossed on opposite shoulders. A black visor covered part of Beta’s face while odd headphone likes structures covered Gama’s. They spoke in a creepy unison that brought nostalgia to the azure youth.
“We are the Radion brothers. We enjoy games and your game sounds fun. We only have one rule. No one gets access to the game without our knowing.” The odd pair looked at each other with a brotherly grin. “Effectively we want to be in control of the operating system.” Before the discussion of how the game would be created or if it even could the pawns were making demands that Theo did not know if he wanted to concur with. “I can only agree to that if I am also given the same powers over the system.” The twins looked at each other as if they were having a conversation amongst themselves. Sai let out a big laugh and grabbed the pair and Theo pulling everyone in tight.
“Men, we will all admin the server. I don’t care how good yah be Gama and Beta this here is boy blue’s idea.” The boys all had their arms folded when they were in agreement with one another despite their own trepidation. “Now that we are done with the measuring contest we can get down to the really monotonous work! First, we need to talk about how to connect the worlds. I have a few theories myself but if you have something I will put it on the board.” Just like that the power head of the meeting was transferred to Sai, he steered the boat where it needed to go and was able to put egos aside. He led the meeting with a type of rule that usually lasted for years. The kind Theo was incapable of for the time being.
“It is my understanding that we already have several connections with the human world so the possibility of us using one of those means will be out best bet.” Theo placed a hell moth in the center of the circle as its night colored wings gleamed with purple accents. “Hell moth’s can be seen by anyone who can sense spiritual beings. We could use it as a basis for who can enter the game and who cannot.”
Sai planted his foot on the ground and his arm against his knee as his head propped itself up. He scratched his over grown scruff from last week and let his mind work. Beta was the more safety cautious of the two brothers; he pulled out a device that scanned the hell moth up and down as information flooded on his visor. His voice carried a certain turtle like pace as he spoke regarding the creature. “This will not do, the specimen is far too weak to withstand the amount of spiritual energy it would take for a user to connect to the server.” Gama was the secretive type, always protecting what information he had or creatures he was creating if any at all. “Also, we would not be able to differentiate from Hell Moths being used by shingami for actual missions through the null zone and our hell moths. A new bread would be the only viable option but, there is no grantee we could increase its spiritual stability.”
Sai kept scratching his head as Theo and the brothers bantered back and forth as to what was possible in regards to the hell moths. “Kidou might be a viable option; after all, there are specific incantations for bridging the two worlds. However, those are purely situational and do not last too long. Even if we could keep the connection open indefinitely there is no telling what that would do with a direct portal unregulated by the Gotei officials and that woudl take power out of our hands. ”
The blond haired researcher sat up as a grin sat from cheek to cheek. “We can do both! There is no reason why we could not bread a new species of Hell Moth that could utilize a transdimensional kidou. Yes yes, those are forbidden but we are not transporting people from place to place.” The man’s idea sounded like a lot of hype. No one in the room had access to those kinds of kidou let alone the power to utilize such a kidou. For once Theo and the twins agreed on something. Sai stood up abruptly as he pressed a button. He grabbed a pen and began to draw on the glass panel that magically appeared in the room.
“Think about a place where time passes differently from any of the two worlds. Where seconds seem like minuets, and minuets hours, hours days! This would solve the problem of the vast differences in time from the two worlds. If we have a separate place that the.... World Moth’s! bring you to then we have our own playing field. They only have to affect the mind of the player which would also allow them to fully utilize their spiritual energy. That person’s body is set into stasis while they access the game and depending how long they play or what they do within the game, only a few minutes have passed in their reality.”
The three ideas grew into a concrete thesis. However, they were a long way off from creating the world. They would need many other parts to the system in order to. The small shingami spoke with cold words, “Sai-sama, those are excellent ideas but I fear we still do not have a power source. I think it would be best to take a break for today. I will trust nothing to leave this room and would appreciate it if Gama-sama and Beta-sama would get started on the breeding of a new Hell Moth as soon as possible. I feel that would take the most time.” With those concrete words the men left the room one by one. Hours were spent in debating but Theo did not feel any closer to his goal than when he started. Perhaps victory was a patient man’s game.
