The young boy was tired of dealing with everyone. Sai, Gamma, Beta, all of them seemed too much to take care of. Something in the back of his mind told him to just wash his hands of the entire operation but, Theo had never experienced failure before and he certainly wasn’t one to give up. He paced back and forth within the walls of his room not sure on how to proceed.

Was he supposed to just eliminate the men that he was working with or should he just let them continue their research and report into him with what they had accomplished. Eventually letting time just erode away at their success and the research notes just drifting away into the vast sea of information within the Ninth Divisions hard drives. This was a prime example of why the tiny arcanist was not fit to be a researcher. He was far more useful at putting the big picture together.

It was often during long nights like this one that Theo thought of the garden at the orphanage. It was a small garden, tiny glass panes lined with mold stretched the entirety of the greenhouse. Within, flower beds sat against the edge of the walls organised in sections according to plant type and color. The organization was not entirely up to Theodoor but the caretaker of the garden had grown a soft spot for his blue eyes. He did not understand it then but Armin frequently talked to the young boy about the bees.

“Theodoor, do you know why our flowers do so well?” The old man scratched his beard as his posed the question to the adolescent.

His deep blue eyes looked up at the age ridden man as confusion ran through his brain. “I do not, Sempai.” Even at a younger age Theo always spoke very well which is why he got along so well with the older generation, that coupled with his complete lack of social skills to get along with anyone remotely his age.

The elderly man bent over to water the nearby fireliles as the petals scent graced his nose and the sound of buzzing hit his ears. “It is because of them, our little friends the bees. Apis Mellifera or honey bee. These girls work their entire life only to make just a tablespoon of honey. They are fascinating creatures little one. You would do well to learn from them.”

It was not until now that the young shinigami reflected on the teachings on his old master. The one thing the child missed in his life was focus and in that garden listening to those bees, it was the most clear he has ever thought in his pre-shinigami life.

The more he thought about it the more his old teachers words rang in his head. People would always fail him and no matter how hard he tried to control them time and time again they would disappoint his unachievable expectations. He picked up the phone and dialed Gamma, Beat, and Sai.

Each one of them received the news and demanded that a meeting be held but the tiny shinigami had already made up his mind. He would wash his hands of the three men and their research only to subjugate himself to solitude and the tranquility of nature.
Theo already felt like he lived too much in the spotlight despite not really doing much. His name was on countless documents and he had a few testimonies swimming out in the Second Division archives. He had tried once to leave this place and for some time they left him be until they noticed he was missing. The fuzz on his neck stood up in the nostalgia of when he was hunted down like a dog by an assassin from the Twealth.

Instead of leaving the Gotei, this time he would simply be absent but appear when absolutely needed. This way he could watch over the Gotei and help it from afar like a Queen, or King, to its hive. Although in this colony the King would do the protecting instead of the workers.

The tired boy went to sleep and awoke the following morning with a weight off his shoulders and a new flare for life. One that would require him to only put up with the monotony of life for a few hours a day. His reward would be the task in creating this oasis he had envisioned, a place he could think straight and enjoy the simplicities of nature but, above all, he could watch over everything.

He ventured out of the division constantly ignoring his phone the more it rang. He finally turned the device off and enjoyed a silent walk with no attachment to anyone in the Gotei, it was a nice feeling. His feet became covered in a layer of dirt the farther he ventured from the organized area of the Gotei out past the gates and even farther away from the edge of Outer Rukongai.

He was around no one but nature, the quiet howls of the wind were like a soft melody to him as the barren land seemed to forbid anything from growing in it. However, the young death god knew exactly how to treat dirt in order to bare fruit. He grabbed a handful of earth and grated it in his small hands as the cogs in his brain turned.

The dirt dropped from his hand as it came to point against the face of a mountain. “Futetsu! Futetsu!” Blue lightning erupted from his finger one after the other as they drilled two shallow holes into the side of the mountain.

The results were less than what he had wanted. Theo would either need explosives or a stronger hadou spell. After a few more moments of thought on the matter he chose to head back toward civilization where he would be able to gather the supplies needed to make his little oasis. It would take time but he knew that working alone and only doing what was needed of him would allow him to maintain a bit of sanity when it came to dealing with the people around him.
