Seraf could only shake his head in disappointment as he left Ishin’s side. How he could show mercy to an enemy who had the positions been reversed surely would have plunged his sword straight into his heart. It made no sense to save the man unless he would be taken in for severe questioning. But from the way Ishin was talking it sounded as if he was promising the Gotei would forgive the man and welcome him home with open arms. The thought made Seraf chuckle. “As If he would ever be welcomed back there again. Ishin only prolonged his life a little before he will be executed as a war criminal. Damn I don’t get that guy.”
Of course you don’t. This is the first time you met him idiot.
“Regardless of that fact, I don’t understand his reasoning for what he did. No matter how I look at the situation, it still would have made sense to kill Hiroshi right then and there.”
Who can know what goes on in a man’s soul? I doubt even the man himself knows why he does what he does at times. Ishin has been made the man he is by his own experiences. It isn’t your place to question his judgment.
“We were dealing with a man who had thrown his ties with Soul Society away. The most logical choice would have been to kill him. He’s a traitor!”
Drop it. What’s done is done, so just leave it. Seraf could only fume in silence as he made his way over to where Keji and Sho were standing. They both were smiling with satisfaction over their victory and probably still taking notes he figured. He was just about to congratulate his companions when the alarms started blaring and the whole ship began to shake like it was tearing itself apart. Taking off after the others Seraf didn’t voice what everyone was thinking, he was actually rather glad when Sho decided to break the silence and ask how they were going to leave. It was a good question.
