gone wrong...
Or is it right?

The crisp shuffling of a book opening its pages to the viewer permeated the air in the small room, followed by a dull sigh. More page turning commenced, as if the person viewing them was incredibly bored already with the book.
“She has nothing fun to do!” the blonde spellswordstress cried out in annoyance, tossing the medical book to the side. It joined several other tossed books, each of different topics, yet all unread by Nevada nonetheless.
The blonde woman stood up, rising from the bed with a huff as she walked to the marble desk Ren had in the corner of the room. Plopping herself into the wheeled chair, she groaned and looked at the books sitting on the shelf above. Jack shit to read. Well, fun stuff to read, at least. “How can I be related to someone so bori-”
Knock Knock Knock.
“Ren?”
Nevada’s rampant complaining was cut short by the appearance of the youngest Tegishahara entering the small confines of the eldest’s room turned office. It seemed as though he and his newly acquainted aunt/older sister shared the same perspective on the whole situation as he too looked as if he might have been bored to tears. Well that was until the idea he had come up with just moments before entering the room.
“Onee-chan I just had the most wonderful thought ever!” Aiden said with a noticeable gleam in his eyes. Hopefully his idea would break the vicious cycle of inactivity that had been plaguing the two since Ren’s recent departure for work in the Fourth Division’s emergency room.
“Guess what it is!” he said as he made an encouraging gesture for Nevada to play along. Oh how he loved turning everything into a guessing game of sorts.
Nevada looked at Aiden with an eyebrow raised, crossing her arms briefly. He wasn’t Ren, that was obvious. A quiet sigh came from her as she longed for a little visit from her older sister. Maybe Ren would be home soon to yell at her to get out of her room.
“And what might that be, li’l guy?” she inquired, unfolding her arms and bending down to pick up the former Rukongai denizen. She held him onto her shoulders, keeping emerald eyes on him as she made sure his head didn’t hit the ceiling. There wasn’t any danger in that, sadly. She was far too short.
“Well here’s a hint,” he took a quick breath before happily introducing his newest mind boggling riddle. “The path of the serpent is one of bondage to the ground, and the flight of the hawk is the freedom of the skies. The gazelle races proudly across the plains, while the lion stalks silently for it’s prey. Of all these things I have said what type of person can be described as exhibiting all of these features,” he asked despite how awkwardly it ended up coming out.
I probably didn’t quote that just right, but I suppose it will still do.
The woman looked at her nephew with the strangest of expressions, completely dumbfounded. As if riddles weren’t bad enough, she did have a dislike of them after the scavenger hunt of the Eight. Repress the memories of a slutty dress, repress the memories of a slutty dress.
“Uh.” There was a pause as an expression of deep, deep, deep thought. Like, really deep thought. Then, the youngest of the sisters spoke, answering the son of Ren. “I have no fucking idea, Aiden,” she admitted, looking up at her shoulder-perched nephew. “Who can be described doing that sort of stuff?”
“Well I believe you and mother already know who it is,” he noted while smirking mischieviously. Whatever was cooking up in his brain it was most likely something he would probably be brutally scolded and punished for if Ren ever found out.
“To explain what I mean this person feels absolute hatred of having to be bound to one area at any given time. He feels the most freedom when he is in the middle of hard combat, and is very proud of how quickly his prowess continues to expand. And finally he is a very notoriously quiet person at times since he spends most of his time alone, and therefore when he does speak it is usually when he is on the hunt for renegade souls,” Aiden specified trying to be as precise in his description as possible.
The person he was referring too was in fact the very one who helped save him, although he had rarely seen him since that time, but whenever asked about him Ren would always give such a detailed picture of the abysmal one’s mannerisms. Of course a look of doubt was somewhat evident in the majestic purple eyes of the young boy, staring at his aunt with anticipation of her response. He honestly didn’t think she would catch on at this point even though he made his description so vividly. Well at least in his opinion anyways.
This child had a vocabulary almost as good as Nevada’s! But the blonde woman continued to think, slipping Aiden off of her shoulders as if doing so would clear her mind.
“I’m assuming it would be Reshin, since he seems to be an emo Boy Wonder. I don’t know anyone else that would show those traits, at least that me and big sis know,” she spoke slowly, as if bewildered still. The blonde placed Aiden on Ren’s soft bed, mildly roughed up by Nevada’s body when she rummaged through Ren’s room. The blonde herself sat in the rolling chair, looking at Aiden. “Is that right?”
The boy’s sly grin returned to his face as he nodded his head in affirmation. Then chuckling somewhat he proceeded to lightly bounce on the already ruffled bed without a care in the world. The fun that he could have when unsupervised was immeasurable in his eyes.
“I say we go find him and ask if he wants to play with us,” he commented while lightly using his emphasis on the words ‘ask’ and ‘play’ to implicate what he really wanted to do. The youthful spirit was now speaking on making the black swordsmen a victim of his outlandish antics.
Mischief was a language Nevada spoke fluently. “Well. I would love to do that. I can brag about how strong I’ve been getting too!” she replied with a grin, looking across her sister’s room at her ball of joy nephew.
And so it was the gruesome twosome set out to find their object of their mindless torment. Fortunately for them their target had yet to even rise out of bed earlier in the day and remained motionless on his bed in his living quarters.
The blonde rose from her chair, propping the door open with her foot for her nephew to escape through before closing it behind her. With that and their plan in mind, the two began the trek towards the Eighth Division. What joy walking was.
It didn’t take too long before the pair managed to reach the Eighth Division’s barracks since the location was set just down the road from the Tenth Division which made the walk a straight shot for a few miles. Passing through the gate and onto division grounds Aiden who was guided by Nevada made a quick break for Reshin’s living quarters.
“Reshin, get your big butt out here!” the woman called out to her comrade as she and her nephew crossed the courtyard. Judgemental eyes moved to the blonde and her young sidekick-in-training, some laughing at the kid as he kept up, following in the woman’s footsteps. When Nevada finally reached her spellblade comrade’s door, loud knocks fell on the mahogany wood. Not normal knocks. “Shave and a haircut...”
The door creaked with the final knock, revealing the statuesque man. “... two kicks! Which is what you’ll be getting if you don’t wake up!”
Awoken so abruptly like he was it was understandable that the male would be tremendously irritated by the random visit. These things were only a small part of the reason he never really liked living near anyone because there was almost always someone who seemed to be unable to maintain some form of silence in the barracks. Stepping outside with only his lower body dressed he went to address the rather noisy guest.
Opening the door while wiping his eyes his vision cleared just to reveal his fellow division member and the boy from the rescue standing before him. Unwilling as he was to talk to Nevada at the moment because of her most recent action against him he was even more uncomfortable looking like a douche bag in front of the kid. Sighing heavily he let the two into his living quarters and quickly closed the doors behind them to evade onlookers who watched with misunderstanding eyes.
The woman noticed his exhaustion, scoffing at it when she and Aiden went into his... lovely room. Careful not to trip on any of his strewn about clothing or other objects, she sat on his roughed up bed with a smile. “Someone looks sleepy.”
Reshin was not amused one bit by the turnout of his morning so far, and he felt as though it would probably only get worse from here on out. Instead of displaying his disdain outwardly like he normally would he refrained from doing so simply because he was still too tired to do so. Responding to Nevada’s comment he tried his best to keep from including curse words in every sentence that would’ve been directed at the younger Tegishahara sister had Aiden not been there.
“Of course I’m sleepy because you woke me up an entire two hours before I planned too since I had an assignment for a late night patrol,” he replied lethargically. “But since you’re here feel free to tell me exactly what you bothered me for,” he said speaking with emphasis on exactly so that Nevada wouldn’t confuse his inquiry for a more casual than serious question.
Nevada rolled her eyes and huffed like a whiny teenager. “Someone’s in an irritable mood. How can you be annoyed around me and Aiden? I mean,” she paused, looking at Aiden, “how can you be annoyed with someone that cute around?”
When there was no facial shift to anything less disgruntled, she let out a sharp sigh. “We want to goof off with you. I haven’t seen you since you helped me with my Shikai release. Why not come bug you?”
He gave up attempting to reason with Nevada seeing as the spellswordstress would only continue to push her point through whether he liked it or not. Although it was true that he hadn’t seen the girl since he assisted her with the awakening of her zanpakutou. Perhaps it was because he either didn’t have a choice, and or relented in standing his ground, that he decided that he would allow them to stick around.
“Well then what is it that you wanna do then?” he asked.
The blonde rolled her eyes as an exasperated sigh left Reshin’s lips. Totally not a morning person, was he? Nevada looked at her young nephew, raising an eyebrow. “Well, I’m not sure entirely. I’m content just seeing you and goofing off. Kago isn’t anywhere here, probably buried in his office with paperwork, and Udo is busy in the Ninth. I would help Ren with her gardening, but she hasn’t come home in a while.”
She looked at Reshin, a simple twitch of her lips showing her worry of her sister’s disappearance. There wasn’t much she could do to change the fact. “So Aiden’s here to help cure my boredom by tormenting you.”
“Torment? Sounds....... a little odd,” Reshin said unsure about the proposition he was just left with. Perhaps she was just exaggerating by using that as a form of pun or metaphor, but the novelty of the whole thing still made him fairly uncomfortable with the whole thing. Then looking to Aiden he gave some what of an odd grin, although it didn’t take too long for the boy to mistake that as an invitation from his more self-dependent friend.
With the strength one would expect of the sister of Ren Tegishahara, Nevada immediately had Reshin in a headlock. A rather odd sight, given the foot or so of height difference, she was thankful he was sitting and she was standing. “I am odd.”
“Don’t you think you’re throwing the mental and emotional training as of late... right out of the window, Nevada?” Taiyou no Ban’nin quipped inside of Nevada’s mind, her voice dipped in honey and disappointment.
This is perfectly okay, I needed a break. Just let me enjoy a day of not being so ‘high society’, Sunshine, the sister returned, looking down at Reshin’s messy mop of hair. “Aiden, today, we’ll teach you a thing about noogies. Come here, little guy.”
The concept of a noogie seemed interesting to the young boy, and given the ramifications something that would be a great way to pass the time. On the other hand Reshin was already begin to feel the sense of impatient rage beginning to boil over, but what would he look like in front of the whole division kicking out a girl and the little kid? They probably would’ve thought he was just being a deadbeat dad or something. So instead of responding he put himself into a state of deep meditation to escape his external problems.
The dull humming coming from Reshin as he began to try to tune the two Tegishahara’s out only made Nevada more content. She knew just how to get people out of meditating, what with her sister’s constant meditation. But she had a lesson to go on with!
“Alright, first, you ball your hand into a fist. And bring that sucker right on his cranium. Riiiight,” she paused, making sure her hand was firmly on Reshin’s moppy head and her knuckles pressed against his head more, “here. Now, after that, you just rub his head as hard as you can. Reshin here looks like someone who can handle it, so let’s do it!”
With those words, she commenced the terrifying Tegishahara Noogie. Her petite arms had the strength in them to just rub his head annoyingly hard, and that was all she cared for.
Aiden watched with an almost devilish sense of satisfaction in watching his fellow peers torture each other. As bad of an influence as it was probably setting neither seemed to be aware of it so as a result Reshin was left to deal with the pain. The knuckles digging into his skull weren’t all that painful, but they were very irritating and uncomfortable. Trying to ignore it he tried entering his inner world, but everytime he tried to concentrate those digging little rocks would grind against the top of his skull and throw off his focus.
Finally he would have enough, and taking Nevada’s opposite arm he dropped forward in a toss known as a dragon whip. In the meantime Aiden just stood back and watched the carnage unfold before his ever studying gaze.
With the grace of the most ungraceful creature, Nevada was flung onto the floor in front of Aiden. A dull thud came from her as body met wood, but she didn’t whine or cry. Instead, her emerald eyes opened up after a brief shut from the surprise. And with the opening, energetic flames roared from them. “So we’re onto that now? Alright!”
She sat up, turning away from Reshin to look at Aiden. “Reshin is impatient and wants to skip the wedgie seminar. So now, we’re onto one thing. Black eyes. Shiners. Fun to give, painful to get.” A toothy grin set itself on the young blonde’s face as she turned her head to Reshin. “He’s our test subject. Let’s see how black I can make his eye.”
“I swear to everything I know and love if you punch me I’m going to re-kill you,” he warned bluntly. He could deal with all the other crap, but he was not going to be anyone’s target practice, and especially not Nevada’s. Aiden meanwhile only continued to watch the two squabble, and what Nevada didn’t know was that he set it up on purpose just for the entertainment! But of course as caught up as she could get she probably never suspected a thing. And somehow Reshin ended up in the middle of all of this commotion.
“Why me?” Reshin thought disdainfully.
The woman smirked, unsheathing her sword. “Who said anything about punching? I can give a black eye with a sword too. I just hafta be careful to hurt you too much.”
“If I were you short stack I would quit it with these games of yours,” he warned again as he had a grip on his own blade. Aiden however had different plans for the two shinigami having snuck up behind his aunty, and with one sudden push sent her tumbling into Reshin who failing to catch her ended up with her on the ground. And before either of the shinigami could realize what was going on all that either could notice was that their lips were preoccupied with each others which prompted Aiden to mock such an indiscrepancy.
“Short stack?! Hey, I’m not that sho-” a rant about her height was cut short by her nephew shoving her into Reshin, their swords scattered on the floor. Their lips were pursed together, resulting in a rather cute, yet humorous moment. And as soon as it was started, it ended. The woman’s blonde hair could’ve easily been set ablaze by the heat in the room as reiatsu seeped out. But it wasn’t directed at Reshin for it. Neither were at fault for it.
It was towards Aiden. Cute, sweet, combustible Aiden. “You little shit!” There were no harsher movements or anything. She didn’t bear her reiatsu at full release, as the heat was felt everywhere in the room. She didn’t try to attack. Instead, she simply grabbed the young child by his pants and yanked him hard enough to lift his body off of the ground. An atomic wedgie was never done so righteously.
“I’m telling big sis on you... and that’s letting you off easy!”
Aiden could soon feel tremendous pain in both his groin and his rectum as the fabric of his pants came up with pounding force. After a while it hurt so bad that the boy even began to silently sob because of the pain. Reshin meanwhile just watched idly still trying to make sense of this ordeal, and all the while still kept wondering why it was he allowed them to enter his home and interrupt his peace and quiet in the first place.
Nevada set her nephew down with a glare set on her features as she turned her gaze to Reshin.
“And YOU. I felt you kiss back!”
“And what the hell do you even mean? You were pushed into me, so how am I at fault here!”
Tension was mounting in the room with each passing second, and seemed as if soon the entire place would get nuked by silence turned bloody animosity. And all this over a misunderstanding which they both found themselves part in on account of the boy he had helped save a while back.
“If you would’ve just let me give you a black eye, Aiden wouldn’t have shoved me! You’re so... insensitive!”
There was obviously no flawed logic in this conversation. The young blonde didn’t think her words too carefully, possibly due to the flustered feeling from the accidental kiss she and the Styx Child across from her shared. Looking over her shoulder at the youngest child in the room and how he was trying desperately to relieve himself of his punishment, Nevada let one side of her pursed lips to loosen up into a crooked smile.
“I’m still gonna give you a black eye, Reshin. Just not today. But you totally owe me an apology.” Once again, there was a lack of logic in the room.
“Yeah sure,” he said exhaustedly. He had had just about enough of all the excitement anyways, but on the upside at least his morning wasn’t completely boring, and lacking in activity. Either way he was glad that the walking storm known as the Tegishaharas were finally making their way out of his space.
The spellswordstress, begrudgingly, started to walk out with Aiden in tow. The rambunctious tike was a handful, even if she agreed to help him prank Reshin. A prank gone wrong in her opinion. As they walked out of Reshin’s room, Nevada shot a dagger-filled glare at Aiden, turning it to Reshin. “Ren’s so gonna punish you, Aiden. That’s not the kind of pranking you do... stick to black eyes and purple nurples, not forcing people to kiss.”
“He’s not even cute. Udo-kun is way cuter,” she grumbled as the door closed. At least she wasted time and cured boredom, even if it wasn’t in the best way she could think of.
