How to catch an advent human Hitome Style
Hitome cackled darkly as she dragged the hollow to the centre of Tokyo. The beast twisted and turned its body, threw its claws at the Vizard and snarled viciously. Its carrier however, only giggled and threw it right into a crowd of people.
Malevolence danced across the herald's face as she sensed the beast lash out at a few civilians. Those poor creatures surely did not have an inkling about what was happening. Invisible monsters don't exist after all.
Terrified screams resounded from the humans, fear marching through the ranks like a well trained soldier. The people tried to flee, and most even succeeded. After all Hitome hadn't released the demon from the Kidou restraining it. Yet.
Smirking, the Vizard strolled into her favourite candy shop. Scared people were huddled together in a corner, whimpering and whispering among themselves. Baring her teeth, Hitome let out a loud laugh and grabbed some sweets from the shelves.
The people froze. It looked kind of comical, how their faces turned even paler than before. How some closed their eyes or stared at the candy suddenly falling to the ground. And of course at the sweets hovering in the air.
Hitome popped one into her mouth. To the humans, however, the candy seemed to suddenly turn invisible. Just as a woman screamed, a man pressed his hand onto her mouth. The Vizard raised an eyebrow and strolled towards them. One by one, she removed the man's fingers from the woman's lips.
Now it was he who screamed in horror.
Laughter shook Hitome as she turned around, grabbed some more candy and walked out the store. Pity. All humans had fled. Shrugging, the herald concealed her aura as well as she could and released the demon. Now the real fun would begin- it would to hunt the humans.
And surely... at least one with powers would show himself. And fight it! Oh how Hitome loved this mission. Zhukov was a really nice imperator.
HUNGER!
Such was the main thing running through the creatures mind. That thought was joined by a few others. First, was anger at that half masked bitch for daring to attack it. Second was a slight sense of gratitude to her. Due to her actions, it had an abundant source of food. These pathetic humans might not have much spiritual power, but there were a lot of them, and no one ever accused it of being picky when it came to food. It decided to gorge on these pathetic weaklings, then go after the bitch that brought him here.
It was that moment when it caught whiff of a particularly strong reiatsu. Sniffing around, it could not figure out where it was coming from. Left? No. Right? No, not there either. Suddenly, it felt the presence grow much closer. It looked up just in time to see an enormous pipe slam into its mask, shattering it and making the creature disappear.
As the smoke cleared, the figure holding the pipe stood up. He was wearing a school uniform from Tokyo Nishi Koutougakkou, but it was unbuttoned and he had on a bright red shirt underneath. He leaned the pipe against his leg and, with one hand, pulled out a comb and brushed his pompadour. Once he was sure it was straight and impressive, he let out a loud yell.
"YEAH! THAT WAS COOL!"
He chuckled, his muscular upper body shaking with mirth.
"Don't ever go stompin 'round my turf again. You know who you're dealin with asshole? I'm Yosuke Hakamote, and I'm the boss 'round here. GOT THAT??"
As he picked the pipe back up, he noticed a the remnants of some sort of energy that had been covering the creature. While he wasn't terribly smart, he had a lot of experience with stuff like this. His aunt had run a shrine devoted to some sort of gods of death or something, and he saw it was the same sort of energy that pulsated from the shrine at times. It was different in one aspect though. This energy seemed darker, like it was tainted or something. He could see a trail of it leading off in the direction of the candy shop, but decided against following it. As it was, he was probably going to get in trouble with the cops for causing another "psychotic scene" again. That was what they always called it when he would yell after killing one of the beasts, because there was never any proof that they existed. Not that he cared. He knew it was a spiritual being, and he knew that he had the power to get rid of them. He turned and started to head for the park, where he was supposed to meet some of his boys.
Hitome frowned as her gaze followed the aura that had killed the hollow. Just like that. Within seconds. The herald let the boy walk of and followed a long way behind. She had targeted him with her senses, so she wouldn't lose him. Still, it was weird. Hitome had felt some sort of energy from the aura, something special. She had found the kind of being Zhukov wanted.
But... to be honest, the herald was disappointed somewhat. She had wanted to get an inkling of the boy's power. It wasn't like Hitome would not get it... when she'd capture the boy he would use his powers anyway. Still.
"Maybe I should have brought a stronger hollow..." the Vizard silently murmured.
Hitome followed the aura to her favorite place, the park. She knew this area in and out.
Hmm... it's not like I'm in a rush. I guess I can have some more fun before I get that guy.
The herald swiftly slipped into her gigai. It was fortunate that she had brought it. Grinning, Hitome walked up to where she felt Yamoto, the ice cream man.
"Hey, I'd like two balls of cherry and one of vanilla, please."
Yosuke had the distinct impression that he was being followed, but whenever he turned he only saw a sort of shimmer. It almost felt like someone was there one second, then moved so fast they displaced the air. He shrugged it off and continued. When he made it to the meeting place, he sat on a bench and waited for them to show up. He looked around, amazed at how much normalcy had returned in such a short amount of time.
Just a few weeks ago, this place had been a nightmare.
He remembered coming back to find parts of the city utterly annihilated. There were buildings that had basements blown out of them, a large hole in the side of one of the taller ones, and massive damage to many of the streets. He even remembered a few bodies and blood stains. In a miraculously short time, though, most of the damage had been repaired. Not only that, but because of the mayor's warning many people had evacuated long before the nightmare began.
As he was contemplating this, Yosuke happened to look over at the ice cream cart. His jaw dropped.
There was one of the most beautiful girls he had ever seen. Not to mention she was quite well proportioned. The only thing wrong was that he couldn't see all of her face from this angle. He stood up, checked his hair, then sauntered over to her. When he was behind her, he cleared his throat.
"I will take a triple chocolate cone please, and I'll be getting hers. Thanks man."
He got his ice cream then turned to her.
"Sorry if that seems a little forward, but I wanted to talk to you. The name is Yosuke. And you are?"
He paused here, looking into her eyes. They were a dark color, though he couldn't quite identify the exact pigment. There was something wrong with them though. It seemed as if she was staring past him, like she was looking through him while listening to him. Realizing he was staring, he hastily apologized.
"Sorry about that, I didn't mean to stare. How rude of me."
He hoped she would still respond to him. Nothing would sting his pride more than if one of his boys showed up in time to see him get shot down.
Hitome raised her eyebrows. Her prey wanted to talk to her? Just what unnecessary kind of thing was that? She wanted to determine his powers, not have a chat. Face darkening, the herald grabbed her ice cream and licked the top. Her features suddenly softened as she took in the delicious taste. That's why she always came here. Yamato was a genius.
The empty eyed woman tilted her head towards the target and answered, "What the hell are you talking abou-"
She suddenly halted, lips curving into a sugary sweet smile. Malevolent wheels started churning behind her pretty countenance.
"Oh, I'm sorry. I'm still kind of nervous because I think I saw something really scary. But it was weird, I must have dreamed..."
Inwardly, Hitome's senses already spread out to find another dark and twisted presence. Just capturing the guy was too boring after all. He would play her game...
Something still bugged him. It wasn't the way she was smiling at him now, at least not on it's own. Her entire demeanor just seemed to scream danger to him. It was something that he felt in his bones. He handed the money to Yamato.
"Here. That should cover them, yes? Go ahead and keep whatever is left."
He turned and started to walk off. This girl was trouble, he could feel it. He always got this sorta feeling, but usually, that always was right before one of those things showed up. Why was he getting it from her? Then, he felt some sort of wave wash over him, like a malevolent feeling. He couldn't tell where it was coming from, but he didn't want to wait around to find out. It was really strong. Stronger than any of those demons he had faced before.
As he was walking away, it suddenly felt like the malevolence was coming closer. Then, without warning, the ground started to shake. As he steadied himself, Yosuke saw trees start to fall to the ground. Something was heading this way. Something big. Knowing only that he wanted to get everyone out of there so he could fight, Yosuke threw his head back and shouted at the top of his lungs.
"EVERYBODY RUN LIKE HELL! GET OUT OF HERE RIGHT NOW, DAMMIT!"
The people around, noticing the destruction in the park, started to run. None of them saw it. None of them saw the hideous face that now stared at him like a piece of food. None of them saw the enormous claws that were slicing through the air, just inches above his face after he ducked out of the way. Well, no one that he could realize. At least one other person saw it.
Yosuke, for his part, was a little busy to notice the girl watching him. He thought he was the only person around that could help these people. Turns out the only thing he was was the only person that would help them. He walked over, the entire time talking to the thing to keep its attention focused on him.
"Hey, you want soemthing to eat? Well come and get it, you big ugly fuck."
He reached out, and with seemingly superhuman strength he ripped out a lightpost near him. He strode calmly to stand in fornt of the creature.
"See, for the past year or so, I been seeing you ugly idiots. Then, about nine months ago I found out I could make my body super strong. To top it off, I figured out I could extend that to whatever I happen to be touching at the time. You know what that means, you ugly bastard? It means this here pole is stronger than anything in the world!"
As he said this, he started his assault.
Hitome tilted her head, still licking her ice cream. Neither the hollow, nor this human was worth her wasting the delicious sweet. So the guy was strong and could give strength to things? Awesome. Awesomely boring, even. Hadn't she once met somebody who had similar powers? Mizuki? Well, he had been able to create a bubble instead of lending his power to other stuff, but all in all...
"Mhhhh..." Hitome mumbled. "I had really hoped for some wicked power."
The Vizard shook her head, disappointed. She finished her ice cream slowly, enjoying every second of cherry and vanilla. When the herald was finally done, Hitome strolled over to the battle going on between hollow and human. Who should she attack? Choose one, or either?
Shrugging, Hitome decided for both. The guy and the demon were so close to each other that it should work.
"In furor my enemy cries... May the earth god accelerate his ruin and bring me victory, Hadou #37, Daishou." she chanted cheerily.
Yosuke saw the girl standing near them, saw the fact that she wasn't afraid of the destruction. He took his eyes off the monster for a moment.
"Get out of here! Don't just stand there, dammit run away!"
It was then that he noticed her lips moving. An odd sort of chant reached his ears, ending with a loudly spoken word. As if he had been picked up and thrown, he was suddenly flying through the air due to the pressure from the spell. Suddenly, while in midair, a realization hit him.
That girl was the source of the malevolent energy he was feeling. She had been the presence he had felt at the sight of the first fight, and it was her that he really had to worry about, not the monster in front of him.
Flipping in midair, Yosuke aimed the pole down at the ground. Without any spoken word, the end extended and shot into the ground. Then, when it got deep enough, it branched, not unlike the roots of a tree. This held him in place long enough for the effect of the spell to wear off. As the force stopped pushing, the pole retracted. When it finished, it was in the shape of a European great sword, the kind that was all wavy. He forgot the name, but knew it looked cool.
"So, you're a wolf in sheep's clothing, huh? Fine by me. Let's get this party started."
Hitome tilted her head to the side, regarding the boy's sword thoughtfully. Her lips curled into a malicious smirk. Whirling her wakizashi in the air, she cackled darkly.
"It seems like your powers aren't as boring as I initially assumed. But oh, poor you, I can sense your lovely weapon quite well."
The Vizard suddenly broke into a run. Yet just before she reached the human, the young woman's body suddenly crumbled and hit the floor. Out of it her soul ascended. While Hitome's wakizashi lovingly brushed his sword aside, Yosuke was suddenly confronted with two black holes just inches from his eyes. Empty eye sockets stared at him. They reflected the abyss of despair... Yosuke's future.
"Booooo..." Hitome chanted sickly sweet.
The approaching hollow's livid growl provided the perfect background music.
The color drained from his face as Yosuke saw the two holes in the girl's face. What had once been beautiful had suddenly become something out of one of his nightmares. Forgetting everything, Yosuke dropped his weapon and ran. Nothing mattered at that moment; not the creature, the pole, the park or anything else for that matter. What was important was that he get away. Far, far away.
Before he could get anywhere though, she was on top of him. He started to panic. The last thing he saw before he passed out was that pair of deep black holes, showing him the darkness of a soul that had no remorse or mercy.
For a moment, all Hitome could do was stare. What the hell? That guy suddenly dropped down, unmoving? Had he peed in his pants? Become unconscious because he was such a mountain sized coward?
Growling angrily, the herald grabbed Yosuke by the collar and threw him right at the hollow. The beast dissolved immediately, killed by the force of her single blow.
Hitome sheathed Sourei angrily and shook her head. This whole day... had been such a disappointment. This gifted human thing was so... stupid. Useless. Why the hell was he alive, anyway?
Well, that problem would be solved soon. This joke of a being... certainly had a fun time ahead. In Zhukov's hands.
