[8th/10th/12th][Bounty] Week 307: The creatures that go bump in the night

As soon as the Bink had raised from the earth from whence it had concealed itself it had finally made its grand reappearance. To Reshin's irritation his zanpakutou's suspicions were correct as the tail, which had been previously blown off, was now back into play. And then a move that he didn't necessarily think this Bink would use. A cero aimed directly at the two, but of course there was no real cause for fear since it was well documented that this particular hollow had a very underdeveloped cero.

This was made clearly evident as Ren had managed to stop the red beam with her kidou. Although she avoided taking damage, despite how she played it off, must not have felt that good. Of course on the other hand the beam was definitely not lethal as the report suggested. And as Ren kicked into action Reshin waited for his moment to strike.

"So your going to actually use that technique I assume?" Shuryou Onikage asked already knowing the answer to that question.

"Indeed. Now all I need is for Ren to get it to isolate itself in a single spot just to make sure the Bink can't escape this time," Reshin responded confident in his partners abilities to do just that.

"Kage Sousa," Reshin whispered to himself as his own shadow began to expand to a five meter radius. His reiatsu was beginning to build again. But this time he wasn't planning on wasting his energy on another barrage attack. No this time he planned to take away this particular hollow's most valuable aspect. Its speed. If its speed was negated than there would be no chance for the Bink to fight back since it won't be able to use sneak attacks, try to dig its way out of its predicament, and since its so small with such a weak cero it couldn't face them head on.

Yes it was the perfect move and it was now left to Ren to give him that perfect window of opportunity to get them one step closer to destroying this troublesome monster once and for all.

The hollow was still standing, not even slightly moved from the fact that its attack had been blocked. It knew that the Cero was not its strongest skill, no not even close. It knew that it needed to get close, and that fast.

A shadow had started expanding from one of the reapers and the skeleton-clad creature had almost not noticed it, as concentrated as it was on its enemies. Fighting two at once was hard but fighting against two reapers was almost impossible. But that did not matter for the hollow. It had not enough mind and was too bloodthirsty for it to think longer.

Attack!

It moved instantly. Without a word of noticed, it landed behind one of his enemies. This time, it was the one who had attacked him.

Revenge!

The scorpion lifted its tail into the air and sunk it downwards quickly.

Kill!

Reshin had not even expected a move like that from the hollow. This whole time it spent its time either sneak attacking the two shinigami or trying to escape from them. Now out of no where it was trying to take the offensive! The speed of the hollow was something that Reshin could not seem to get over which was why the technique he was setting up was so vital.

But now with the Bink seeking to take him down there was no time to think, no time to hesitate. Reshin feeling the presence of the hollow as it prepared to strike him tried his best to avoid a fatal strike. Turning around to face the hollow he attempted to block the attack with his sword, but was only successful in raising his arm directly in the path of the scorpion like tail. Than before anything could be done all that could be seen was a stream of blood pouring out down Reshin's left arm like a raging river.

"Aaaahhh!!!!" Reshin cried out in agony.

The tail had practically impaled his arm. He could feel the excruciating pain from the injury resonating throughout his body. He barely managed to save his own life as the stinger that had pierced his arm was no more than half an inch from his face. Instinctively Reshin's fight or flight response had come into play as the shadows that he now had under his control formed into a makeshift guillotine around the hollow's head, claws, and tail. Then at will the guillotine dropped chopping off the tail that had just ran his arm through and threatened to take the Bink's life with it as well.

In the meantime Reshin used shunpo to put some distance between himself and the blood thirsty beast before him. His arm was now useless, but it wouldn't stop him from trying to kill it. He could worry about the consequences of his injury later. By now enough blood had drained from his arm to the point where it had grown numb and limp.

Technique used
Ability: Kage Sousa 影操作 ( Shadow Manipulation )

The user can create, control, manipulate, materialize and summon darkness produced by Shuryou Onikage. By itself, darkness is mostly used to cloud everything from sight, but by accessing a dimension of dark energy it can be channeled to a variety of effects, both as an absence of light and a solid substance. The user can also create a variety of constructs and weapons via using this ability. The user of this ability must pay 1% of his reiatsu per turn to manipulate existing shadows, and may pay an additional 1% to create up to 5m of shadows where there are none.

What was it doing?

The hollow stood still, watching the two. Was it planning some sort of attack? Was it in shock of Ren overpowering his Cero?

"Blood!"

The excited call from the vampiric queen within Ren's gloves alerted her to the sudden attack. The call wasn't to scare Ren or anything, but to more or less state the obvious. Reshin was bleeding and bleeding fast. The hollow stabbed at him with mad intent for some vengeance for the previous barrage of wolves, and Ren could understand that. But why him and not her?

"Hadou number thirty-three, Soukatsui!" She could feel her energies leaving her the more she used the kidou, but with Reshin's counterattack and how fast the hollow was, she couldn't get close to him. The crater in the ground from her failed attempt beforehand was evidence of that.

Magic flames coalesced at her hand before quickly erupting right as the guillotine formed and dropped its dreaded blade.

Blood!

It had finally gotten a taste of their sweet, sweet blood. The attack was almost point on, even though the target managed to move a bit. The hollow knew that the sting from the poison would still be able to slow it down, perhaps even kill it. That was all it needed.

The other reaper was still alive and on the attack. The first one moved quickly, making distance between them. The fact that its tail had been removed completely did not seem to bother the skeleton-clad creature. It has means to fight and it had managed to taste blood. That was all that mattered.

What it did not expect was the attack that struck him suddenly. A mass of reiatsu had managed to hit him, creating a huge explosion and sending the hollow flying. As it landed, it noticed that a huge hole in its belly; almost half his body was blown off.

Kill!

It stood, facing its attacker. Energy started gathering around its mouth and a sudden burst of uncontrolled reiatsu, formed into a Cero, flew at the target.

What?

How?

"How in the fuck is that thing still alive and kickin'?"

The inquiry from her zanpakutou was also echoed by Ren's own thoughts when she saw the upper torso - and just that - of Bink. Could he still regenerate from that? Was this what every hollow could do?

The hollow's golden eyes stared right through the battlefield and the distance between the three. Its hungry eyes stared not as Reshin, but Ren. The same murderous intent she saw in the eyes of her nightmare self filled the endless black of the hollows eyes. The only light seen in the pits of dark were the golden irises that flooded with hate, hunger, murder and desire. Everything a predator would have in its eyes when stalking prey. But Ren was no prey.

Kyuketsuki was the predator. Ren was the predator. And they would not be subjected to become this hollows meal.

When the red beam formed once more, Ren did not counter it like previously. The untamed beam surged through the distance, closing it just as quickly as Ren could flash step away. The previous spot was nothing but a straight line of ashes and burning ground, and it could've had a splash of crimson liquid too. Yes, it did. Ren appeared next to Reshin, her left arm reddened just like her leg. Both bled slightly, trickles of red life staining her gloves and her clothing.

The vampire queen stared down her quarry, its blown body frail and broken. Well, it wasn't broken yet. That part would come soon. The Mystic would make sure of that. "Reshin-san. Do you think if we can get close enough to it, you can make some sort of..." she paused, taking in a deep breath that pained her to take. "construct or something to keep him in place? We need to take him out soon. Preferably now."

Flash stepped away from the Cero, since I'm assuming it was aimed at Ren, but took some of it on her leg and arm. She's right beside Reshin nows.

Reshin's left arm fell limp by his side as he stood up. He could feel the poison slowly start to take effect on his body as they squared off with the now half-alive Bink. The cero fired once more, but once again the damage dealt was minimal with Ren being able to dodge the full blast. This however did not mean that things were gonna be any easier. With their powers beginning to fade somewhat, and the Bink continuing its counterattack despite its current handicap, it was starting to look as if the hollow now had a chance to get away.

Turning to face Ren he picked up his zanpakutou with his right hand. He took a quick glance at the monster before looking back at Ren to answer her question.

"I don't think at this point another construct is gonna give us enough time, but I do have one more trick up my sleeve," Reshin responded as he prepared himself to unveil his final technique. Time was beginning to run out and it was now or never.

"Hey Ren do you think you can manage to isolate the hollow in a single location for a few seconds? Its all the time I'll need to secure the beast so you can finish it off," he spoke heavily as the poison proceeded to slowly pass through his body.

"So your gonna try to set up that move again?" Shuryou Onikage said with concern.

"We really don't have a choice in the matter. Either I use it now or we could end up losing more than just this fight," Reshin responded with equal concern.

The vampire nodded, her muscles tightening as she prepared to move. "I'll try."

With a burst of flash step, she disappeared to the left, letting the full weight of her released zanpakutou bear on Bink. When she reappeared, the ground around her weighed down with parasitic reiatsu, overshadowing Reshin's own release. And that was exactly the point; be a better target and a tastier meal.

With a flourish of her hand, she casted a single kidou. Her body felt weak when she did, as if it refused the command to cast at first, but bent to Ren's will. "Soukatsui!"

Violet flames augmented by the vampire's blade erupted from her hand at Bink, hoping to seal the deal on dragging him to a spot where Reshin could work whatever tricks he had up his sleeve.

lolwut
Soukatsui + BoV.

The hollow did not know which way to look. Its attack had hit the intended target, if only slightly. It was on the right track to victory. Or that was at least what it thought. The one who had avoided the attack had started to move again, faster than most eyes would be able to follow. The scorpion turned towards the reaper as a mass of reiatsu was starting to gather around his hand.

Blood.

It side-stepped, taking part of the attack. Its left claw had been almost completely blown off and it started to lose its balance, tipping over to the side. A swift move with the back leg had it back into position.

Eat.

The skeleton-clad hollow moved as fast as it could, only with three legs. There were no more sonidos left for it to use, no special attacks, nothing. It had used a lot of its spiritual power to release the last cero and now it only wanted to get close.

To kill.

Reshin during the assault put up by Ren had been gathering a majority of his reiatsu left over to use. If the attack was successful than this deadly conflict would soon be over. The poison seemed to be clouding his vision and his body seemed as if it refused to go through with it. Never the less he spurred on as his own shadow extended to eight meters in a straight line.

"Eiryuu!" Reshin shouted as the extended shadow began racing at full speed towards the weakened Bink. As it came closer it began to materialize with first the head, then the body, and the tail which after full materialization revealed a serpentine like draconian beast who with one fell swoop fully enveloped the hollow as it coiled rapidly after attaching to the dark hole in what was left of the Bink's chest.

Afterwards Reshin felt as if he would pass out. Refusing to succumb to the poison he tried to force himself to stand by thrusting his sword into the ground and resting his weight on it.

[189/2740]

technique used
Attack: Eiryuu 影竜 ( Shadow Dragon )

From his own shadow, Reshin pays 5% of his reiatsu to take control with Shuryou Onikage and materialize it into an 8m long serpent-like dragon that attaches itself to any available shadows or darkness around the opponent. After coiling itself around the opponent, it remains there for up to three rounds. As long as it is coiled around the opponent they are unable to use shunpo, or any other high speed hohou techniques. The dragon is guided by Reshin's hohou stat, and in addition can only affect those whose hohou stat is up to 35% higher than his. If the opponents hohou stat exceeds that than they are unaffected.

Mentally, Ren congratulated her comrade on locking the creature in place. She didn't know how he did it, but summoning the wyvern of shadows managed to lock the hollow in place. At least, what little of the hollow was left.

She casted a look over at her partner-in-crime, knowing full well this battle was over because of him. He was exhausted, drained completely of energy to the point of almost falling to the sweet embrace of unconsciousness. But it wouldn't happen yet. Not until this hollow was gone. Purified. Destroyed. Whatever it took.

She turned on her heel to face the trapped hollow, flash stepping just once to bring herself closer to it. Kyuketsuki spoke in the back of her mind, stating how many blood charges they had. Four. One more would've ended this battle now. The vampire pleaded for Ren to prolong it just to taste her opponents life essence again, but the words and pleas fell on deaf ears.

The wyvern hissed and growled at the hollow in its grip, a deep rumbling hiss coming from it as Ren approached. The woman stared up at the large dragon holding the hollow with nothing but praise. It was a creature made from Reshin's spiritual energy. A fucking dragon, no less. That was cool.

The vampire Mystic stopped just a few yards away from the draconian creature holding Bink, looking at the hollow, as destroyed as it was, it still had fight. Little, but still. "Reshin-san, are you sure this will hold him even if I get close?" she asked her friend, not wanting to take the chance of the hollow scoring some hit on her when she was going to destroy it.

[283/2,746]

Reshin struggled to answer with the lethal toxin now overtaking his body, but somehow he managed to bring the words out from his trembling mouth.

"Normally this move is used to negate an adversaries speed, but with the little energy this hollow has left it should stop him from moving entirely," Reshin confirmed weakly. The time was near for the battle's end which made Reshin feel pretty pleased. When this was all said and done he would be able to get treatment. The quicker the better and time was of the essence.

With Ren there in prime position to now do whatever she wished to do with the captured beast he wouldn't have to worry about this fight dragging on any longer. Finally it would all be over and they would be able to go home. Although from this conflict Reshin would personally take a few things to heart with him. His first battle with this creature showed him how much he needed to learn. With confidence in his partner Reshin finally collapsed, but with a smile on his face.

"Great work out there child. You've come a long way," Shuryou Onikage said as Reshin's zanpakutou reverted back to its sealed form.

[207/2947] Final

All it could see was the end. It was all that was left. The shadow that had emerged in front of the hollow had magically managed to surround him and lock it in place. There was no chance of any sort of movement, even breaking the seal that held the skeleton-clad creature would be impossible.

Shackled.

It knew that was coming. Its lack of ability to comprehend danger had changed. Moving was impossible. Attacking was not probable. Healing could not be done unless he managed to get under the ground. Doom was coming its way.

Death.

[96/1485]

Death came fast, but not painlessly.

Ren hopped onto the wyvern, scaling its writhing body as it tightened its grip on Bink. She stared directly into the hollow's eyes, holding a single hand up against its mask. "Hadou number thirty-three, Soukatsui."

Violet embers sparked into existence against the mask, kissing the bone material ever so gently before erupting into an untamed gout of flames, destroying the hollow entirely. When the wyvern soon disappeared after that, so did the hollow, fading in a mist of spirit particles. The vampire queen herself fell to the ground, groaning in pain. Magical pain, from using kidou too much, and physical from the attacks and battle overall. Kyuketsuki began to fade, returning and forming to fit into her sheath under the guise of a wakizashi once more.

The chimes of bells echoed in her ears as she started to stand up, a pair of shinigami walking out of the gates. Following them was another, giving the orders to the two. The shinigami couple ran to Reshin and one tended to Ren. They carried Reshin through the Senkaimon, and assisted Ren to the third shinigami.

"The target is gone? Were you successful in eliminating it, Tegishahara-san?"

She nodded silently, giving a deep sigh of relief. "It's dead."

"We thank you. Your comrade, Izukawa-san, will be treated at the Fourth Division for his poison intake and other wounds. You will be as well for your wounds."

"Thank you."

The medic shinigami carried her through the Senkaimon as well, the third shinigami following suit as the Japanese-style doors closed behind them and they returned home.

[267/3,013]

Final: Bink has been eliminated. Peace, happiness, booze and bitches for everyone.
