It was a hot day in the world of the living. Everyone was wearing a little less clothing than they normally would. Several more daring individuals were wearing even less. But all the same, it was a good day. This was to be where the hollow was. In this majestic park with many trees and lovely flowers sprawled about...a battle was to take place. A new hunt was to begin.
Dellius surveyed the area calmly. There was very few people that seemed to be around. He couldn't help but wonder why? On a day like this, it wouldn't be strange for people to bring their family and friends out to bask in nature. It was quite odd to him. Thoughts drifted back on the hollow and he suddenly became focused once more. Concentrating on the soul ribbons about he picked out the nearest black one and began to follow it slowly. He felt his heart pump slowly as his nerves were calm and easy.
"A pity I didn't come here to visit," Dellius said as he followed on to his new opponent.
The smell of flowers was somewhat relaxing to the elderly giant. It reminded him of the time where he tended to the masters garden. It was a long time ago, but the memories were ripe in his head. Those were happier times. It was then that he heard his mentor growl in anger.
Remain focused on your task. There is new prey to hunt! Shuryo-sama said with irritation stained in his voice.
Dellius rolled his ancient eyes as he continued on the trail.
Possessing a large humanoid body with equestrian features, this hollow likes hanging around on trees, usually sitting on the branches while smoking tobacco. A strong fighter and will stop at nothing to eliminate the distraction once disturbed from his lounging.
"Y'ain't here to start shit, are ya boy?" A voice from a nearby tree gave the Shinigami a momentary jolt, causing him to almost involuntarily look up to identify the source. From atop the branches a silhouette of a man was faintly visible, and the smell of burnt tobacco hung heavy around the foliage.
"I'd hate to have teh' come down an' smash yer ugly lil' face in."
The shock had come and go as Dellius now saw his opponent. The man's heart began to pump faster, but the calm features on Dellius's face remained unchanged.
"I see you have eliminated the need to search for you. I am truly grateful," Dellius said bowing slightly.
"Introductions are in order, I believe. My name is Dellius....Dellius Carthans."
A crawling anticipation was now rumbling slowly in the elderly giants heart. It wasn't quite at the surface yet...it was merely simmering.
"From my reports, your name is Hougo. I dislike interrupting a man's place of rest as much as the next guy but duty is duty."
That was it then. No more words. The time for talk was over. All that there was the predator and the prey. The old butler straightened his gloves before drawing his sword.
"Repel and Negate, Shuryō juu gata ."
Dellius's arms and legs were covered in the release as his gauntlets and boots appeared. The man began staring at the hollow with a primal longing. The chains of reason and civility was slowly ebbing away with each second that passed.
"Tch, be a shiny lil' cunt then." With one last heavy drag of the cigar it carried Hougo pushed off the trunk of the massive and ancient tree, hitting the ground with a bone-jarring thud.
In a split-second the beast dug two massive hands into the sod and dirt, throwing them at the Shinigami while lunging forward with a kick aimed at the soldier's midsection.
Duty could wait. Orders could be discarded. All that mattered now was who would live.
Dellius moved his arms in front of him to block some of the dirt from getting in his face. His pristine white gloves had become freckled as he was showered by the dirt. The elderly giant saw something moving forward pushing the shower of dirt away as it came. Dellius tensed his leg muscles as he aimed a kick towards the growing shade. He felt his body shake hard as he made a hard connection with something. The sound of the impact was similar to a wrecking ball hitting a stone wall. The very force of the blow blasted away the dirt around him in a flash. When it was clear, Dellius had seen that both of their legs had slammed together each one's leg still looking to overpower the other.
The butler felt his body tense up as he was ready to move at any moment.
"S'all you can do, innit? Make a big talk 'bout duty an' honor then jus' wait 'fer the opponent to act." The creature looked down at the older man with a look of disgust born both from his initial disturbance and the now apparently deliberate wasting of his time.
Hougo let the tension in his knee relent enough for it to bend in a waning arc, bringing the Shinigami closer as his knee remained tense and taut. Within a split-second of the action the Hollow's two massive fists were swinging down at the semi-prone Shinigami.
The elderly giant had barely heard the words that were being said to him. After all, words were for prey. If there was any talking to be done by him it would be after the hunt was over and his opponent was a dead husk. The minute Dellius felt the leg relax slightly, he felt something was up. Unfortunately it wasn't enough to prevent the arms from slamming him. His leg dropped to the ground and his force of the shock cracked the ground around him. However he remained steady. Quickly grabbing the arm and pulling it as he approached he crouched down and let his fist fly with great force.
The pair of fighters rose in the air and hit the ground several meters apart, filling the air with an unsteady silence. However, for all the flair and feigned panache the Shinigami had shown it had failed to make an impact...literally.
"S'one thing to start shit when y'eh can back it up, but you? Lettin' me make all the moves while y'eh just mince 'bout like a 'lil bitch?" The creature's eyes darted to one side, spying a few curious individuals who had come to investigate the sudden damage that was appearing in the park.
"Gon' sit by fer this?" A burst of air and sound brought Hougo within striking range of the first human, a businessman that looked so devoid of life or good humor that checking up on some ruckus in the park would most likely be the highlight of his day.
Without an ounce of hesitation Hougo brought two massive hands down, ready to crush the bystander to a thick red paste.
The hunt was starting to look uneventful. He had barely even begun to fight and yet the prey was already using such a desperate tactic. He could care less about the words being said to him. Words were for prey. Now he decided to divert his attention away by endangering some human. The sparks of sanity and civility only flickered enough to make him care a little. The fact that the hollow had the nerve to forget about him and go after a weaker target only made him sad. The ground beneath Dellius had erupted in a flurry of dust and stone as a roar of a lion sounded. Dellius was bolted towards the hollow and kicked off the hollow right on his humongous hands. The hollow was pushed back slightly as fist came down. The shockwave of the blow had knocked the business man off his feet. Looking confused and scared, he began running in the opposite direction.
Dellius looked at the hollow with a look intermingled with disgust and pity. His fight with the undead lion, Vutuo was more satisfying, but that opponent was much stronger than who he faced now. It was clear that this match was beginning to head down a boring direction. Dellius actually began to walk towards the beast, his nerves pumped and his adrenaline flowing. So far, he had experienced the hollows strength and his speed. The hollows speed was to be commended but his strength left something to be desired. Raising his hand, a yellow repelling blast erupted from his palm towards the hollow. While he was at reasonable distance, this attack had no plan. It was merely to begin things. The old man's body tensed up as he prepared for a counter-attack.
