NPC chapter: Choko
Our story starts with a rather grungy looking young girl at a fair, holding her stomach as she goes down the board walk. Her clothes are tattered, and smell of smoke, like she's just come through a fire. Her bright green hair tells the says that the homeless girl has a degree of hope in her left, but in reality she is just barely holding on to the will to live.

Chased endlessly by masked creatures, she chose to come to the moon festival in hopes that she would find food, and safety in numbers. Little does she know that her life will change forever, on this fateful day by that of a chance encounter...

The homeless child had been walking for many hours through Japan, and her feet were sore and tired. She herself was hungry, frightened, and at twelve looked much older than her years because of the scars that riddled her body, and the terrible state of her clothing.

Ugh, my tummy hurts so badly, the girl grumbled to herself, feeling the sharp hunger pangs in her stomach, I've got to find something to eat, or I think I'll die. She looked around at the various food vendors around her, jealously eyeing the families that passed by her. Why couldn't I be like them? the sad little girl thought to herself. She continued walking tripping a few of the small children that passed by her hoping they would drop their treats which she could snatch up to eat. But this method yielded very little of her desired profit, and only got her beaten by older brothers and shooed away by protective parents.

Eventually she had wandered into an alley, far away from the fair near a large abandoned building. Alone and hungry she grumbled to herself, Well it's not like it can get any worse. she thought, then sat down on a slab of concrete that had fallen loose from the building's lack of maintenance. She sighed again then suddenly a large crash sounded from behind her. "What the hell?" she asked fearfully, as she jumped up from the concrete.

A giant purple and red winged beast flew out of the side of the building, "Oh no, not another one!" The giant beast sped quickly through the air, and then made a sharp fun flying directly at her. "Help!" The girl screamed, as she ran from the monstrous beast However in her haste to get away, she tripped over a rock and fell onto the hard gravely ground, badly scraping up her knees badly as she touched down.
I] Dammit, [/I] she thought, she winced in pain and tried to get up, but could feel the animal's breath down her shirt, and found she couldn't move. Paralyzed by her own fear.

Please, let it be quick the homeless girl prayed, then just as the poor girl had given herself up for lost, she felt a shadow cross over her and heard someone say, "Hold still, and don't move a muscle, you might just miss an opportunity" While she had been lying on the on the ground, a tall stocky young looking man, with spiky dark hair, dark orange highlights, carrying a giant guillotine blade, and wearing a black flowing outfit; had stepped in between her and the white masked monster, and was holding back it's long claws with a single hand on his sword. What the? the frightened girl wondered, "Who are you-"

"Don't worry about that, just get somewhere safe kid." the mysterious man ordered, "I'll be fine, just get out of here, Okay?" then seeing her skeptical expression, he said "Trust me." and grinned again, flashing his teeth.

She nodded slowly, then ran off to hide behind some trash cans where she could view the outcome of the fight from a safe distance.

Once the man thought the girl was safely away, the spiky headed man continued fighting the masked demon. "Slice open the gaps to heavens gateway," he chanted loudly, "hadou number nine, Kamitachiii!" Then suddenly, a powerful force invisible to the girl, battered the monster inflicting dozens of sword wounds across it's ugly face.

"What the heck?" she gasped, How is he doing that? the girl wondered, I maybe he's a superhero? The curious girl mused, and watched the man leap and slash deftly at the creature with his long blade, dodging and parrying deadly blows from the terrible creature's, white sharp looking claws.

Then the spiky headed man cut through the monster's claws like they were butter, it bellowed and howled loudly in pain. Then with an earsplitting screech of wild fury, the beast threw itself at the tall man, and smashed him into the abandoned building it had only recently flown out of. "Oof!" He cried, as his body made contact with the hard material.

Oh, no! the worried girl thought. "Don't die Mr. Porcupine!" came the girl's shrill cry.

At that instant the monster turned around, and flew back at the man again, but instead of hitting him with its full force, the man swung his blade up just in time, causing the ugly thing to impale itself on the cold metal. Unfortunately as the beast slid down the bloodstained metal, its claws also found they're mark in his chest, even as it disintegrated the sharp murder weapons tore at his flesh. Then not a sound did the stoic warrior utter, as he fell from his self made crater. Until he the ground that is. His impact sent up a large cloud of dust as he landed and uttered a single word resounding off the buildings, "Ouch."

The girl ran to where the man had fallen, with tears jumping out of her eyes as she looked upon his sorry state. He was a bloody mess and beyond help, "Thank you for saving me but, what is your name?" the teary-eyed girl asked quickly.

"My name, well aren't you the chivalrous one?" he replied smiling, "My name is, Kiske Miyazaki. Who is the stranger I've just given my life for?"

"I'm Choko." the nine year old sniffled.

"Hmm that's a good name. It means light." Kiske smiled, "Well Choko, you seem like a pretty good girl. Do you want a present?" Kiske asked cheerfully despite his pain.

The girl nodded slowly, "Yes sir. I would be very grateful" she bowed low, out of respect for her new, dying friend.

"Ooh, respectful too." he attested happily, "I'll give you a legacy, for my son." he coughed, violently spitting up blood as he did. "Go get that big sword over there." he ordered. The girl obediently went to go and fetch the blade, and disappeared from view. Soon Choko returned struggling to drag the long blade back to him. Heart breaker's gonna love this one, heh heh.

"Here it is what should do?" she asked quickly fearing her new friend would die before he could finish his task.

"Nothing, I just want you to search for my son... Hmm" he paused, "it's been so long I've forgotten his name, I guess that makes me a bad father, huh?" The man coughed again, "His last name is Miyazaki like me, that is how you'll know he's mine, and Heart breaker will be your guide.

"But Sir I-" Choko protested.

"Don't worry about it." He waved his hand and the sword changed itself into a slightly smaller version of itself, pink and diamond shaped with wings and a heart at the hilt, covered in flames. "You’re human, so I can't give you my power, but Heart breaker might lend you her own power, should you be in dire need of it." Kiske smiled again and looked endearingly at his long sword, "Be good to her, my old friend. She's special." then he winked and and moved no more.

Choko stepped forward to check his pulse praying he was just faking, but his skin was already cold so she took the sword and left quickly. As she ran away from the scene with the blade, she swore she could hear the soft sad sound of a wind-chime, blowing gently in the air. Almost the way you would expect a crying of a fairy to sound.

The girl eventually made it back to the fair, but to her dismay she found no one there could see the sword she was carrying. This didn't seem to faze her she simply smiled, apparently the thought of a secret all her own, and a mission to boot gave her purpose, and a new will to live. I’ll find your kid, Mr. Kiske, I promise you that. the girl thought determinedly, And I don’t break promises.
