Lo and behold for these cursed eyes of mine have seen many things. These eyes of mine have seen and bare witness to some of the most heinous crimes capable of mankind. Oh how these cursed eyes of mine have also bore into the very souls of the unfortunate as they became the object of my evil deeds. Like the very color of my cursed eyes I have seen oceans of red emerge from the lifeless bodies of those I had laid sight on. Like the slit pupils of my eternally damned eyes I have also driven a wide gash between myself and humanity, and by doing so have forever condemned myself to solitude for fear that my cursed eyes will cause me to look upon my next victim.
The darkness provided a sort of comfort to the wandering soul as he made his way outside to gaze at the moonlight above. Like a spear, the light of the full moon had pierced through the darkness illuminating the sky that was already decorated with the presence of the surrounding stars. These things gave a sort of eerie, but calming feeling to those who resided in Seireitei as well as Rukongai. As evident it seemed like the perfect night, but for the same wandering soul it only brought with it the burden of wandering thoughts as memories from long past, that he now wish that he had forgotten entirely, began to gush into his mind like a crumbling dam.
"Hey man don't hurt me!" a voice cried out from a dark alley. "You don't have to do this man. Here's my wallet so just take everything in it you want," he wailed as continue to quake in fear from the dark figure approaching him. Before the male could continue to beg this figure for mercy a hand reached out grabbing the smaller male by the collar.
"I don't want your money, but I'll tell you what I do want," the figure stated. "How about I take your head," the dark figure said as he pulled out a hunting knife and held it to the terrified man's neck. It was then that a face emerged from the darkness and the face of a teen no older than seventeen was revealed as the attacker. Deep red eyes with snake like slit pupils found themselves staring directly into the brown eyes of the one being assaulted. The man gasped in terror at the thought of being decapitated and preceded to struggle, but the power of the younger man was just far beyond what the victim could ascertain.
A laugh like that of a jackal made its way through the mouth of the attacker as if the fear of the one he held was the absolute most hilarious thing that he had ever seen. It was then that he threw the older man against the brick wall before throwing him to the ground again. Feeling as if he would truly be killed the victim of the assault finally gave up and waited for the inevitable only to find that the assaulter and all of his money had already been taken.
"God I hate having to rob people to be able to eat, but what else can I do?" Reshin asked himself as he headed down the next street. Growing up he never had a family, and recently the home that he was staying in ended up being foreclosed due to future plans of the city to destroy the old neighborhood and build over it. Because of this Reshin found himself on the streets having to get by by any means necessary, and this included sticking people up if need be. It was hard, but to him it was everyday life seeing as he spent his entire life alone having to take on everything by himself.
Taking the cash, credit cards, social security, and identification out of the wallet he then stored it all in his side pocket before disposing of the wallet itself. Lucky him he had seemed to hit the jackpot today as he had managed to tote away up to four hundred bucks from his latest theft. Spotting a pizza place near by he started to head towards it until he heard the wail of police sirens in the background.
"Shit!" he groaned to himself as he burst into a sprint. Had the person he just robbed called the cops on him? It was possible seeing as in the midst of the struggle he had entirely forgotten to take the phone after the fact. Were the cops after him now? Not wanting to find out he made a U-turn around the block before dashing through an old back street. When the sound of police sirens had finally dissipated he let out a sigh of relief as the chance of being arrested had possibly passed him by.
This was another one of those things that Reshin hated about living this way. Police were always on your ass looking for you all the damn time, and every one of your actions were being monitored for the slightest fuck up which was usually followed up by an ass kicking and metal cuffs if you were caught. Fortunately for him he never attracted much attention with his individual hits even though he was referred to by the city dwellers as 'the demon of the shadows', because he often made many of his thefts in darkened areas where he would ambush his perceived targets.
He easily could've been one of the most notorious muggers on the block, but because no one actually saw him in the midst of these attacks there was no description that could be given of him. The only description that anyone could make was of his crimson red eyes, and his apparent knack for torturing his victims before vanishing into the darkness from whence he came. Honestly this made him out to be more of an urban legend than some street thug because of these vague descriptions that more or less describe a demon rather than an actual person.
Once he made sure that there was no one around he made a quick dash into the pizza place. Without a word he sat in an empty bench as he waited for the line of customers to die down. Looking around he didn't spot anyone he recognized so he made no attempt to speak to anyone. Once the line was gone and it was his turn to order he walked up to the cash register to order a large pepperoni pizza with extra sauce, than taking out the stolen cash paid the woman up front.
"Thank you and come again," the lady said smiling as Reshin made his way out of the door.
Fast forward into the current time and Reshin is still gazing up at the sky with a blank expression. His unfortunate turn of events had led him to such a wonderful yet mysterious place, but lately he had begun to question his original resolve. Snapping back into his senses he than quietly returned to his hospital bed so that the Fourth Division members wouldn't suspect that he had left. Sneaking his face in under the covers he thought to himself for a moment.
"I became a shinigami so that I would be able to start anew, so that I would be able to make a future for myself by forging bonds with others," he spoke to no one in particular. "But ever since that day with Adele on Soukyokou hill I've done nothing but further myself from her. Then that damned Miyazaki came in the picture," he growled as his feeling of betrayal by his friends to his worst enemy had started to surface again.
"Well then here is my new resolve. From now on all of them are my adversaries who will one day come to know my pain. They will all learn of my suffering and will shudder in fear of the darkness that now fills my black heart," he promised himself. And from that day on his oath of vengeance on those who had betrayed him was now in full effect.
