[9th/Shinigami OPEN] Week 193: Insanely Institutionalized

He did his best to not grimace at the statement (possibly failing).

“Yeah. Not that it is by choice or anything. Doctor’s orders.” he glanced off for a moment. “Er, by doctor I mean a certain beast of a woman calling herself a vice-captain...”

Returning his eyes back to Bastien, he attempted a feeble smile. “Not that it’s totally against my will. I agreed, after all. God knows why, but there you have it. Sound’s like you have been having some fun of your own. Missions sounds so cloak and dagger.”

From the corner of his eye, he tracked the progress of the newly-appointed Captain. For a short moment, he wished there were fewer people. He wanted to speak with her more directly. There was always time, he supposed. Thought she might be pretty short on free time these days.

Ah, a life of servitude.

"I guess now's a better time than any.

"Psst Kaede," Ryoujin began, "What do you plan on doing with the division? I know it’s a bit too early to ask, and you might wanna keep it a secret, but you can tell me, right? Any changes you’ve already thought about?"

The last bearer of the Ninth’s haori after all had certainly carried with him a tenure that would be difficult to match. Saika, from what he had heard, was also skillful with the opposite sex and ladies would come flocking towards him. From the looks of it though, that didn’t seem to be much of a problem for Kaede as she had several ninth division soul reapers already admiring her.

Just how far would she go? He didn’t know, but he was willing to watch his friend grow for as long as he could.

It’s almost as if she was destined to wear that robe, he thought before dismissing the notion, Eh, what in the world am I even going about anyways? What I mean to say is she’s going to be a good Captain; there’s no doubt about that.

Sébastien couldn't help but laugh at the idea. Him, clock and dagger, full of mystery, super secret agent. That would be the day. "No no," he finally said, when the fit had finally left him, "nothing like that. Just patrolling duty, and some minor projects, like repairing buildings and whatnot. Oh! And I'm building a park!" He paused momentarily to picture what would become his grand masterpiece. "The life of the Pathos Corp, y'know?"

Suddenly, remembering where he was and the abuse only moments before, the blond's smile dimmed a little. "Anyway, I seem to have pissed a good portion of the Ninth off a few minutes ago, so I think I should give my congratulations to the captain and then continue my patrol elsewhere." Bastien turned to find Kaede. Just before leaving, he looked back at the redhead one last time. "If your newfound sobriety ever ends, come find me. I could go for a drink."

A burst of shunpo took the peacekeeper to within a respectable distance of the new captain. "Kusajishi-san, you don't know me, and I'm not in your division... I may have actually turned many of them against me somehow... but anyway, I'd like to congratulate you on passing your taishuu on behalf of the Thirteenth Division." He bowed to her briefly. "Now if you'll excuse me."

Another flash step and he was at the gates of the division. "Well that didn't really turn out like I had hoped... But I shouldn't have to deal with them anymore, right?" With that, Bastien turned and left, searching for his squad to send someone else in to babysit so he could go have a strong drink.

Hearing no response and not seeing any visible injuries Hanabusa decided to leave the bald boy returning to the place where he was sitting at beginning. Looking back at the crowd hear some shinigami voice congratulating his captain attaining this position and with a polite words leaving Ninth grounds.

“Maybe this meeting would be soon over. I should think about at least saying hi to captain,” he said silently and started to look for something in his pockets.

You want to use that device of yours? Tess asked.

Well with it I could use fraction of your power without breaking the rules about releasing, he replied.

~

“Oh well looks like party just ended. But that promise to meet one-on-one sound scary,” Hajime said stopping to searching his pockets when he heard captain words.

[1,209]

I reedit this turn to not post such short final turn and part after ~ is happening after Rob turn that’s under ^^

It was… weird how this little party had, for starters, turned into something gigantic and not to mention chaotic. What was even worse – although Kaede wasn’t exactly sure if it was in fact worse – was that for some reason or the other it felt as if she had been put on the background.

Like she thought, however, this wasn’t exactly a bad thing per se as it gave her a fair few moments of spare time. Moments she could use talking to people that actually mattered to her, like Raury, Lilith – perhaps...? – that bandaged guy called Feng - ...maybe? – and that was about it, really.

There weren’t real that many people she wished to speak to, or even see.

Still... maybe that Ryoujin guy wasn’t too bad after all.

Smiling softly she said, “I’m not sure, really. I mean, what Saika did was quite outrageous and while I believe you would all be tripping over me following that exact female-harem route, I’m not sure that’s a good idea. I’ve got a status to withhold, no? Besides, I’m quite keen on keeping my head on my romp... and I’m quite sure going that very route will earn me a trip by a certain reaper from the Third... if you catch my drift.”

Shaking her head, letting the wind wave through it, she looked upside.

[-Everything all right, m’lady?-]

Couldn’t be better, actually,
Kaede replied internally to her zanpakutou’s spirit. It’s been a while since I’ve felt this elated, this eager to start working.

[-That’s good to hear, Kaede-sama.-]

Shutting Mu Teikei away in the back of her mind again, she shifted her attention to any- and everyone who was within her reach. “Okay, listen up, everyone! Though it’s super awesome to have a big-ass party like this, I really need to get cracking on setting up this division. So, those who are not of this division, I don’t mind you staying, but it’s getting late and I’m pretty sure you all have things to do as well.

“On that note: for all division members, expect a one-on-one soon. I’ll be skimming through each and everyone one of your files, so prepare yourselves.”

Letting the wind orchestrate her haori’s movements she turned around, nodded one to Raury, Lilith, Ryoujin and Senesati – and anyone else who she felt like nodding too – and motioned for Mari to start cleaning up.

It had been one hell of an eventful day.

[405/1063] Final

This ends tonight.

Serizawa gently jabbed Hakan in the ribcage with a playful smile in response to the Aoede comment. “She was not a gremlin, you tool. Ha, ha.

“Well she was sort of full of herself the majority of the time, which could make one seem ugly in the eye most.” She flipped her hair.

“Then again, who am I to talk? I guess that depends on how you look at it though. Confidence does not equal conceit. So I guess there is some room to talk about Aoede's conceited personality.”

“Before her hunky companion could even respond she smile and added, “Shut it Hakan.” The emerald scientist then paid attention to the new captain, her eyes could not budge from the sight of kanji representing the Ninth Division.

The woman folded her arms. This is a new age and I know no one will replace the former captain, but I pray and hope that this woman could be capable of more than what meets the eye. Her purple eyes then darted to the marionette. Watch her back Mari, there are more snakes in this division than there is assassins in the Twelfth.

Ryoujin nodded and watched as Kaede left, her sleeveless haori fluterring somewhat from the gentle breezes. It seemed like all of his friends were being promoted to Captaincy or Vice-Captaincy as of late. After all, he could remember how excited he was back when he heard that both Hikaru and Kyuketsu had been risen to the status of fukutaichou. In fact, Kyuketsu himself had been Acting Captain for a while. Compared to a third seat like him who managed to carry out all of the responsibilties and paperwork, vice-captain and captain for that matter must have been overwhelming!

Shuddering at the thought of the amount of responsibilties and work that had surely come with the rank, he turned to leave as more and more of the crowd parted to go their own ways.

In the midst of his exit though, his glance locked on to a strangely familiar figure. Right across from him, seeming to attract the gaze of many men around, was a gray-eyed shinigami, a vice captain at that too. He could not for the life of him though put a name to that face, but for some reason, he felt like he had seen her somewhere. Maybe in a dream that involved an insane battle, drugs, long lab coats, and even cough drops? Nah, that couldn't be it, he thought, as if it was a normal possibility.

Watching as one of her own came up to her, he paid careful attention to catch her name.

"Lilith fukutaichou, I think we need to head back to HQ. Kaede taichou is right; it is indeed getting pretty late. Well, I'll see you around!" the crimson-haired youth said, bowing to his superior before running off.

"Lilith, huh? I guess I'll be paying you a visit sometime soon," he muttered, or at least attempted to because he had not realized that he had instead said it aloud.

With that, he headed back to the Eleventh.

Wonder if those drunkards are still awake. I wouldn't mind beating some sense into them, hah!

;) think of this as setting up for that collab we were supposed to do a while ago. Also, whenever you're free for that collab, feel free to PM or IM me. I'm set for whenever.

As the crowd shrunk more and more, Mitsuhito also went back to his division. Before turning around he bowed to the new appointed captain as a farewell, before leaving the plaza. God, that was one heck of an experience, I never thought a new division would attract this much weirdos at once, on the other hand, it's the ninth we are talking about.

When he moved through the big gate, he saw a familiar guy with a black face because of some dust. As I said, weirdos. Looks like Satori got here too. After that thought, he turned around a corner and vanished from the view.

***

After his invention got destroyed, Satori thought about leaving the gathering. After all, it looked like it was done anyway. Moving down the wall using his modified ice picks, he fell the last meter because those two tools managed to explode in his hands one after another. God, why does all I invent ends in a big explosion in front of me!

Rubbing his butt because of the fall, he went on his way back to the Fourth Division with the intend to ask the Captain of the Ninth Division if he could join her.

FINAL:[202/629]

Well, crap. Takashi never had had a chance to go say hi to the captain personally. People had been flocking to her like hummingbirds to a freshly-filled feeder. The thin scientist hummed a few bars of a perky Earth tune as he watched her go, haori of the Ninth billowing in the wind. He likely wouldn’t have to wait long for a one-on-one chat, though. If Takashi had just been put in charge of a division, he would meet with the officers first.

And I never did get up the courage to do anything Ninth-y. Probably for the best- he wanted to keep his status as Eighth Seat. Still, it was kind of disappointing that everything had gone relatively smooth.

Later on he would come to regret that thought. Sometimes the universe gives you what you ask for.

Lilith turned as she heard her name called by an unfamiliar, yet oddly familiar, voice. The paradox made her raise an eyebrow. But as she watched the tousled pink hair bounce toward the exit, she wondered, “Why do I feel as if I’ve met him before? And why am I suddenly in the mood to share a pizza with him?”

Looking to one of her subordinates, she ordered, “That young man leaving -- he’s a templar with pink hair. Find his name, will you? And also… ask him if he likes pizza and…” She paused, suddenly thinking of… a candy of some sort. “…and strawberry-cream cough drops. I know it sounds bizarre. But if he seems to know what you’re alluding to, have him see me. If not, pretend you approached the wrong person.”

The shinigami looked at the vice-captain as if she suddenly sprouted three new heads, But regardless, he accepted her commands. “Okay, fukutaichou. Whatever you say.”

----

Hakan rubbed his ribcage but chuckled all the while. Feisty… Slowly leaning down, he brushed the hair away from Serizawa’s ear and chuckled quietly, “I can assure you… You have never ever looked like a gremlin.”

Then retracting slightly, a devilish grin still planted on his face, the rebel scientist joked, “Though sometimes, you can sound like one.”
