I admit that I am Aredil.

I do not understand the rationale behind saying, "You can't blame me for trying."

I am the only one to blame for trying. No one forced me to try.

Nonetheless, I understand the sentiment. I believe it can be better expressed by saying something different, however, and I believe the distinction is truly important. Yes, you can and should blame me for trying.

However, I am glad I tried. It was worth my time and energy to try.

That said, however, it was not worth the time and energy of others. I apologize to moonlit009, Redfin, and Tetsujin in particular, since theirs was the time I wasted. I also apologize to the roleplaying group of Halcyon Days as a whole, who, regardless of whether they care or not, I did attempt to deceive. In the case of those whom I succeeded in deceiving, to you I apologize with greater feelings of guilt than the others. It is not a pleasant thing to be lied to, and I understand that my doing so will probably cause you negative feelings.

I wish to clarify that my attempts to circumvent my banishment from Halcyon Days (and, to a lesser extent which applies in spirit if not in technical validity, my banishment from Bleach Forums) were not perpetrated with the intention of trolling or causing grief. While I understand that they have likely accomplished that exact end result, that in doing so I have only further alienated myself, and that the end result is far more important than the sentiment behind my actions, I did not wish to reach that end result.

I realize that I might have attained a more satisfactory result by appealing to the leaders of the site, asking forgiveness, and hoping that a show of good faith would result in an additional chance. I will not say it would have been a second chance, because I believe I have already had several chances to prove myself and failed to do so. Additionally, I will not attempt to hide behind technicalities by saying that I was only banned from Bleach Forums and, therefore, should be allowed to attempt a fresh start here.

Manga Den is the spiritual successor to what this community lost when Bleach Forums became unstable and, eventually, unavailable. Being banned from the previous incarnation is effectively the same as being banned here.

The reasons for my banishment from Halcyon Days is public knowledge. Aside from the surface-level truth that I requested to be banned, I believe that it is well known and documented that I was an incessant cause of conflict and that I was a troll. If I had not been banned by my own request, I surely would have been banned for completely valid reasons at some later date. I was no better than others who had been banned. The reason for my being banned from Bleach Forums might be less known: I attempted to rejoin in much the same way I have just attempted here, by creating a sockpuppet account on Bleach Forums and submitting a wholly new character for review. As this was against the forums' rules, I was banned entirely from the forums.

That is my story.

I do not expect forgiveness, though I ask it, and I am fully willing to beg and shoulder any probationary burden deemed necessary if it means rejoining this community. However, I do not hold out hope. I understand that any relationships I might have had at one point have been broken, or at the very least strained past the point of any level of trust.

Again, this is entirely of my own doing and I am to blame.

I do apologize, sincerely, for the trouble I have caused.

With regret,
Aredil

Things would have been much easier if you had admitted that last night.

When it comes down to it, though, most of the troll-like behavior you refer to was done intentionally to get yourself banned when I wouldn't do it just because you asked. That was a headache, and something we won't be going through again.

I'm willing to let you back, Dil, under certain conditions. The first: I don't mind if you complain in chat -- everyone has a right to voice their opinion. If you ever start actively attacking other members, though, or if I ever get the impression that you're intentionally trying to incite drama, then you're gone. If you want to leave, then leave -- then it's not so hard to come back. If you want to start a fuss to get yourself booted out, then there won't be any more chances.

Second: If you're going to come back, I'd like you to start from ground zero, at 100 Reiatsu. That in itself is probably the harshest thing I've ever done to someone, but I don't think it bothers you that much: more than once you've remarked that you'd want to start over for fun.

Third: This is a text-based roleplaying game. We're all here for fun. Leave the melodrama in RL. This is what we do to get away from that.

Finally, before this is official, I just want to know: what is it about Halcyon Days that makes you want to come back?

I feel like, because of my behavior, I never got the chance to become a really involved member of the roleplay. I wanted to become a member of the community, instead of just being right on the edge of tolerable. I've also never been able to write like I was able to here, and I think that's because the environment of Halcyon Days encourages and rewards people for writing, while simultaneously (at least in theory) giving people the necessary tools to improve, rather than just doing the same thing over and over and stagnating. I've never found any roleplaying group that comes even close to bringing people up from barely literate to the level of genuinely good writers, which I've seen happen here on Halcyon Days. I want to come back because there isn't a roleplay like Halcyon Days anywhere, in any setting. It's unique.

I called it literally right away ;D

With that out of the way, welcome back. All of this seems rather dramatic and unnecessary. If you wanted to come back, why invent an alternate personae? It's not like you were banned for any reason other than asking for it, so...

Anyways, are you going to continue using "Hiccabeat" or should we merge it with your old account?

I think public accountability is the only way to clearly identify if someone understands their faults and responsibilities. This is a well-written expression that seems sincere and should inspire some confidence in the other users of this forum to give you a chance again.

With that said, welcome back dil.

Whether or not I was banned for more than that reason from HD, I do not know, but I was banned from BF because I opened a sockpuppet account. As for the alternate persona question, to put it simply, I was honestly looking at the situation through the scope of what would happen if I were in charge. I'd have played it way more like Moot, and just ripped myself to shreds rather than give myself another shot.

As for merging, the Aredil account was deleted with the move. I'm betting that happened to all the old banned accounts from BF.
