As the huntress went to leave the area, she couldn’t help but consider the girl. Their first encounter had come when Aeria was released from jail. An awkward meeting, but there was some kind of familiarity the two had that was making Furi feel almost guilty for leaving her behind.
So against her better judgement, she went into the fog that Aeria had produced, her guns hidden beneath the large coat she wore. As far as the guards knew she was just another civilian stuck in a bad situation. Searching through the street, she laid eyes on the girl, looking around cautiously, her back to the huntress. Placing a hand on her back, Furi pushed her along, guiding them out of the mist.
“Keep moving, stay quiet, and don’t look back,” she whispered to her.
The two moved out of the district, Furi noticing that the checkpoint they passed through began to go into lockdown. The theft had most likely been successful. Soon they’d find out how important that piece of paper really was.
Returning to Furi’s bar, she handed Aeria off to her enlil employee, telling him to take the girl upstairs and give her a room.
“You need to lay low. Give it a night, then you can do what you want,” the huntress told her.
Now that the girl was off her mind, she walked over to Bill, currently tending the bar.
“Terminus is gonna get a lot of news coming in. I want a report in the morning,” she said.
“Got it. Have a good night,” the old man said.
With that, Furi went upstairs to her own room. Dropping her extra clothing, she laid down in her bed, revolver in hand.
She woke up the next morning with a knock, sitting up immediately and aiming at the door. It was the enlil, informing her that Aeria had departed already, passing along her thanks.
Naturally the bar was empty, but Bill was at one of the tables, a cheese omelet left out for her along with the appropriate utensils.
“Alright. What happened,” she said, sitting down and starting to eat.
He spoke for a good while, informing her about the theft of the Pactum Unum Quingenti. Furi doubted that Sarkis would even bother sending them the rest of the agreed payment. Ass. There had also been other events occurring in the city simultaneously, a prison breakout which led to a few major criminals getting out, as well as a leading officer that had gone missing.
“Assuming Sarkis had the document, what happened to the other two?,” she asked.
“Harper was arrested, but somehow broke out shortly after being taken in, there’s a bounty on him. There’s also a velen girl whose name is a mouthful, Nysvernera. Bounty on her as well. No reports on you or the Aeria girl, so there’s some good news...you’re not happy,” he said, reading her face.
“No. That operation was nowhere near as planned out as it should be. What kind of idiot plans to steal something within twenty-four hours of them gathering a team for it? One who didn’t care what happened to the rest of his team. It was just an improvised mess.”
“Well what did you plan on doing about it then?” he asked.
“Find Sarkis. Whether it's through Nysvernera or Harper, they have to know something. And once I have Sarkis at my mercy, he’ll either give up the document or whoever it is he gave it to.”
“Don’t you think you’re overdoing it though? The mission was done was it not?”
“No it wasn’t. The only one that came out of this smelling like roses was Sarkis. Just think how much the city would pay not only for him, but for the document’s return.”
“Ah...so that was your endgame was it? Yoink the document for your own benefit?”
“I’d have done it at the end of the mission, had things not gotten so stupid. That asshole wants to call me a rookie. ell this rookie is gonna hunt him down, and make. Him. Hurt.”
