Brand New Map!

Think back to the year 2014, when Colin, Alan, Arun, and I began working on the concept that would become Post Terminus. Since we were going to set it in a fantasy world, after all the years of RPing on Earth in Halcyon Days, one of the things I set out to do was create a world map, one that was suitably large for people to help shape out the details, and one that geographically fit the underlying story of the world we were making. However, I'm not artistically inclined and after trying multiple different programs and techniques, I settled on using the Fractal World Generator from donjon.bin.sh. With some tweaking and rolling the randomize enough times, I found the map you're all familiar with. It served a purpose but was never really clear and didn't do much to spark ideas.

I haven't been around as much as I should recently due to world and life events, but I love this RP and the players in it, both past and present. It was my hope that I could bring you a new map that not only is aesthetically beautiful but helps to inspire ideas and plot threads, and one which can be added to with places from your stories, actually allowing you to place a mark on the world you write in. The very talented cartographer and artist Mursit Ozoglu has taken the bland topography above and drawn a proper map, both taking my descriptions of the geography and some of the events from your writing and recommending additions or change for interest or in keeping with the tectonic plates formed by looking at the existing mountain ranges. I'd also like to give Emre Selcuk a shoutout for his rendition of the compass rose representing the five Vis. With the interactive map, you can click on the map to pull the spyglass icon to you, or click the icon and drag it. It will give you the Latitude and Longitude of the spot you're targeting. I will be creating a thread for submitting locations that will use these coordinates to place additional icons. If there's a thread or post associate with the location, it can also be linked from its map marker.

Over time I plan to make updates to the interactive side of this, so feel free to add requests or suggestions.
