So the title isn't 100% accurate, but is, in fact one of the more extreme takes on the elections canada robo call issue. Read the article above, let's get some discussion going.
Personally, I'm not sure quite what to make of all this, the calls were genuine (in that they happened) but as to wether or not they were a deliberate attempt by the conservative election campaign to mislead voters, I don't know. It seems like a new level of dishonesty for Canadian politics.
I find the article to be very inconsistent and wonder if that's intentional, an attempt to appeal to whichever brand of political bent the particular reader has.
It never quite identifies the most likely culprit, nor does it really specify which political parties were most affected. There's some not-so-subtle implications that it may have been political competition that arranged for the complaints, fraudulently, to cut into the vote-for-me calls, but it doesn't clarify which.
There's also the suggestion that users online decided to do this to throw a wrench into their desired party, or maybe all parties.
I don't think it dwells very long on the possibility that these complaints are legitimate and the excessive number is based on more streamlined communication channels, greater availability of information online, and overall a more aware political climate due to recent bills like SOPA and PIPA, as well as the continued Occupy Wallstreet protests in the US. For the large part, today's youth has been ambivalent toward politics, but after the recession and attempts to stomp on the rights of internet users, they're recognizing that they need to be involved in what goes on in their government.
That youth is the demographic that has the capability to get the message out, to dig up the dirt, to make their voice heard. Are the complaints falsified or is it just an untapped demographic finally speaking up?
The article really does not give enough information to make that judgment. It feels as though it's specifically written to light up the fire of whatever gets you to keep reading. "Those dirty liberals!" or "those shady conservatives!" or "those damn hackers!" Like most political discussion, there's a lot more research that needs to be done before you can make an educated observation or decision.
Edit: One other thing is that not all of the complaints were calls. It specifically mentions some of them used a form that could be found online, implying that the 35,000 was comprised of calls, letters, and emails. Without reading closely, you could see it as whichever one you wanted.
