I was wondering if anyone else is looking forward to Mass Effect 3. I know that I'm excited to finish the story and play the same character that I beat ME1 and ME2 with.

So, if you're waiting for Mass Effect 3, post here what you're doing to pass the time until then.

I'm restarting Mass Effect 1 on hardcore and then taking that save through Mass Effect 2 on Insanity. That should take up the two month between now and ME3.

I'm waiting as patiently as possible for March. While I did enjoy ME2 it removed a lot of things from the original that were rather upsetting. Excursions planetside in 1 were chances to find new/awesome weapons to upgrade/exploit, where 2 just had that damn probe system. I worked hard to get my Sniper Rifle in 1 that could one-shot a Geth Colossus, and needless to say when 2 had nothing to compensate for the sudden loss of customizable weapons & armor I was more than pissed.

tl:dr - Excited, but holding some reservation.

The Mass Effect series has been one of my favorite universes created, ever. So I'm frothing at the mouth waiting for ME3. I do hope that they return much of what was lost about the first one. The story telling aspect was perfect, the rpg elements really added to the epicness of the story and game itself. When ME2 released I knew I liked it, the characters in the second one were fresh and fun and interesting, DLC was a good way of mitigating the loss of fluid story with the episodic approach. But overall, the second one's feel couldn't come close unless you breeze through the character loyalty missions and skipped straight to the ending. It was only as a hardcore fan that I enjoyed any additional content provided. Otherwise the final DLC that supposedly bridges ME2 and ME3 was a let down in many ways, the episodic story development was choppy, the removal of the rpg elements for barely-there enhanced shooter aspects of the game was a spit in the face of die-hards for the first game, and then finally the planet scanning made me want to pull my teeth out. IMHO, while the game is still enjoyable, especially in light of the amount of grace I extend because of my love of the universe they've created, I think in comparison it was like a relic from the Vietnam conflict was putting bamboo chutes under my fingernails. I'm gonna copy Beaks a little w/ a tl;dr below lol.

tl;dr - Being the last in Shepard's series, I really hope that the third installment is more similar to the first than it is the second.

I am extremely excited about ME3, But I'm surprised to see so many people glorifying ME1 as a superior work. I found that ME2 was a complete upgrade over the first. Combat flowed better, AI was more effective, the characters were more interesting and the overall plot far more engaging. Also, fuck the Mako. That vehicle bullshit was a mess. I'm hoping the vehicle bits in 3 mirror Project Firewalker from ME2.

And don't get me started on powers in the first game. Useless. >: l

But yes, totally goddamn excited. There needs to be more Tali. There needs to be more Drell. Fuckin. Thane. Like a motherfuckrrr.

I'd take ten MILLION Mako missions before I had to sit there and scan another goddamn planet for goddamn fucking platinum.

Yeah, I'm down with upgrades just costing credits. I think it was just an attempt to keep the -explore the galaxy- bit in the game. I didn't have to do much resource mining in the first place, though. Maybe a total of twenty minutes worth to cover all of my upgrades.

Bump.

Sooooo I've been OBSESSED with the multiplayer for this game, anyone else played or currently play the Mass Effect Multiplayer?

On PS3 or 360? But I love playing it too!
