Name: Mira Hirano

Contact Info: sherlockkkian

Age at Death: 8
Age when Joined the Academy: 40
Age at Graduation: 46
Division: 12th Division

Physical Stature:

Mira stands at 3'7 and weighs roughly 26 kilograms. Before she died at the age of 8, she was amongst the shortest people in her class. She retains her childish looks, complete with a round angelic face and large blue eyes, years after her actual death. This often gives other people the impression that she is too young for complicated thoughts, and certainly too young to be carrying a sword around. Her hair is a deep, rich mahogany colour, and is too long to be worn down. Instead, she wears her hair in two thick plaits, both tied at the bottom with long, pink ribbons.

She wears the standard shinigami uniform, albeit in a much smaller size and with a lavender-coloured obi. Underneath her uniform the top half of her body is wrapped neatly in bandages (also purple in colour), which are worn worn only because the little girl thought the original shinigami uniform was too boring and nowhere near colourful enough. Her fingernails are a little too long for her 'age'', but she refuses to cut them and instead paints them to match the purple of her obi and bandages.

Persona:

Like her appearance, Mira's personality is distinctly child-like, even though she is actually 46. Her young appearance led to her being adopted straight away by a caring and loving family, who coddled her and treated her like a princess. Because of this, she hasn't fully embraced her actual age, nor taken on any responsibility that comes with it. She welcomes the world as only a child can; with open arms and a brilliantly naïve curiosity which can only be sated by exploration and mischief.

Mira is a sweet, caring person who charms almost everyone she meets with her antics and cute behaviour. Though, because of her childishness, she can be very stubborn when things don't go exactly how she wants them to go. As such, temper tantrums and slammed doors were a very common sight in the Hirano household.

Child-like as she is, her time in the Thirtieth District developed her mental skills, and coupled with the fact that her family was more than willing to hire a personal tutor, she is just as intelligent as any ordinary person of her actual age. Despite this, however, she absolutely loves fairy tales, stories of heroes, princesses and dragons, and is what some people would call a 'candy-fiend'. She is fond of games that involve sneaking up on other children, and adores making people jump in fright when they least expect it.

Because of her time spent playing with the other children, Mira has become very stealthy (as far as a spoilt child can be), and also loves to employ her sneakiness when stealing cookies from her mother's kitchen. Her friendliness often results in her meeting lots of new people and her cute, naïve nature makes her automatically likeable, at least until she throws a tantrum.

Biography:

Although she doesn't remember being ill, Mira died of a sudden illness, surrounded by her family. It only took an hour or two for a shinigami to find her and send her to Soul Society, where luckily, she found herself wandering through a strange and exciting new world; the streets of the Thirtieth District. As she glanced up at a large candy stall with wonder, an elderly woman noticed her and offered to buy her a bag of chocolates. Needless to say, the young girl's heart was instantly won over, and the child spent the rest of the day telling the old woman fantastic made-up stories of how she fought monsters and evil men on her way to the candy stall.

They became inseparable, and Mira the Lost Child became Mira Hirano as she was adopted into the old woman's family. The energetic little girl spent the next thirty years running up and down corridors and playing games with the other not-so-children of the district, being pampered, educated and loved by her new family. She was happy.

The Hirano family were well known in the Thirtieth District for their generosity and kindness, and often let weary travellers stay in one of their many spare rooms for the night. On one such night, for the first time since she could remember, her father gave her permission to stay at a friend's house with some other children, and she couldn't remember a time where she had been more excited. She packed her over-night things and sped off down the road with three other children, ready to have fun and cause chaos.

Night fell, and then morning came after, just as it had every other day. Except, when Mira arrived home, ready to tell her family that she had spent the night playing tag and eating cookies, the door to her house was blocked by a large worried woman whom she didn't recognise.

The little girl was never told what had happened, for she was too 'young' to know, but as several stretchers covered in white cloth emerged from within, in her heart she knew exactly what had happened. Her family had been killed in the comfort of their own home, surrounded with familiarity. Their kindness had been their downfall, and their lodger had ended their lives and taken every valuable possible. Her father had been a wealthy man, and one man could not have taken everything with his own hands. This had been organised, even that much was plain to a child such as Mira. Bad men had hurt her family, and that meant she was all alone.

The child's reaction was one of great sorrow, to both her and the shinigami stood around to witness it. She tried to fight her way in. She bit and scratched and screamed at the woman shinigami who stood blocking her way in. Naturally, she was no match and soon tired herself out, large, fat tears rolling down her angelic cheeks, her little painted nails broken and her bright blue eyes puffy and red.

When the red-eyed little girl asked the woman if the people who killed her family would be brought to justice, the shinigami said that they would be found and dealt with appropriately. For Mira, the child who had been left all alone to defend herself, this wasn't enough. The thought that she would never know who it was who had committed such horrific crimes both terrified her and angered her. The woman noticed the anger in those blue, blue eyes, and suggested that she join the shinigami Academy once she was old enough. The tiny child nodded, knowing that she was already old enough, and so she turned and fled the scene. Or so the female shinigami thought...

Zanpakutou:

Mira carries a wakizashi asauchi. The blade itself is 18 inches and the overall length of her zanpakutou is 26 inches. It is perfectly proportionate to her small height. Its guard is rectangular and, much to Mira's dislike, completely featureless. The wrappings were black, but the moment she received her asauchi she switched them for purple. The sheath is black and featureless.
