Low in the Tokyo sky, the pale amber orb of a sun beamed the last of its warmth down upon the metropolis below, stubbornly refusing to dip below the horizon. Bathed in an orange glow, one of the cities more peculiar landmarks lit up, marred and twisted bits of steel reflecting the sun's light, causing the construct to take on more sinister red hue. In the shadow of the mighty spire however, a single mote of orange light blinked faintly in and out of view; a cigarette clasped between the lips of a lone man.

How long had it been since he'd returned here, Masato wondered.

For a long while, he couldn't bring himself to face this place; the sight of his greatest failure. For all his zeal and aplomb, the thought of having to confront the spirits still bound to this scar was utterly terrifying. He could never hope to justify what happened that night to those poor, lost souls. He had sworn service to them, vowed to protect them from the unknown dangers of the world...

But in that one crucial moment, he failed. And it haunted him still.

Once he had overcome the anxiety of facing this, the very monument to his sins, the General had vowed to become stronger. Here, at the site of his greatest folly, he had sworn to never make such a mistake again.

How long had it been since that night?

A gloved hand ran nervously over a trinket tucked away in the General's coat. The nondescript device, a small cellphone several years out of date, had yet to leave the man's side since that night. Staring up at the spire, it's jagged form highlighted by the setting sun, Masato removed the phone from his pocket and flicked it open. For a few moments, he stared at the blank screen, questioning whether or not the device actually functioned, before flipping it shut and returning it to the confines of his duster. The ritual had become somewhat of a nervous habit; something he found himself doing unconsciously whenever his thoughts wandered back to this place.

Taking his cigarette between his thumb and forefinger, the agent let out a long, smoke-filled sigh, flicking a growing pillar of ash to the dirt at his feet.

He would become stronger by himself, on the sweat of his own brow. He would fight tooth and nail, scraping and gnawing and biting...He would bleed, he would kill, to protect those who knew nothing of this twisted world of theirs.

He would prove that he was not weak.

At the edges of his perception, an unusual presence made itself known. Not a human, not this close to the spire, anyway. The area had been cordoned off for blocks following the incident. No, this presence had a particularly otherworldly feel to it that could belong to only one being. A Shinigami.

Letting out another sigh, the General turned in the direction of the newcomer to get a look at his latest opponent.

"Took you long enough." he mused, taking another drag on his cigarette. "...Your lot sure loves to keep me waiting."

"Hm?" the brunette murmured in response as she walked up, pulling out a phone to check the time. She held it up and waved it at Masato pointing at the digital clock. "But I'm early!" The girl sighed and puffed one cheek out irritably, then tucked the phone away. She was wearing jeans and a black blazer with a little butterfly across the split. Her hair was tied into one long braid, reaching all the way down to her lower back. Short and petite, the girl didn't look remotely threatening, but to the General's spiritual senses, it was clear that it was no fluke that the girl made it to the quarter-finals.

Even the way she carried herself bespoke a calm confidence in every movement. "Whatever," she grumped when Masato didn't apologize. "Anyway, I'm Kyuto Tounyuu, the one and only Lucky Seventh Seat of the First Division!" She leaned in with a grin. "That's the best division!"

With both hands in her pockets next to the out-of-place white obi, Kyu stepped forward and tilted her head curiously. "So, you're like, the Soutai of the Orpheus crew, right? Their leader? The big dog?" Kyu pulled down her sleeve to reveal several tight black bands around her arm. "How come I have to wear these?"

The girl's comment elicited only a dry scoff from the grizzled gunman.

"You'd be kiddin' yourself if you thought I was the strongest human around." he remarked plainly. In terms of sheer spiritual power, there were plenty of individuals who could outclass the General, and few on Earth or in Soul Society who could hold a candle to the true juggernauts amongst their ranks. The agent's strength was something far less tangible. A mind for strategy and burning will to succeed and overcome, no matter the odds had seen to it that Masato tread the path of leadership. The girl's jibe however, would not go unreproved by the General.

"...And yet to seem to know plenty about me. I ain't even heard your name before, kid." the man grinned, taking a long drag on his cigarette. "...Certainly not the first grunt they've asked me to fight. Don't feel too bad."

Tossing the mostly-finished smoke to the ground and pressing it out with the heel of his boot, the gunslinger let out a small laugh as he drew his twin pistols from their concealed holsters. With a flash of arcane energy, the man's reiatsu engulfed the weapons -- numerous mechanical components willed into existence by the agent's post-human evolution snapping together around the revolvers as they took on their spiritually-enhanced forms.

Slowly, each of the now-massive chambers began to turn, building up speed as they whizzed around within the frame of his weapons. Fate would decide which brand of elemental doom to bestow upon the arrogant swordswoman.

"So," the General grinned, muscles tensing ever so slightly as he waited for the girl to make a move. "...You feelin' lucky?"

Derp.

Activated Sanzoku. Claiming priority with Quickdraw as of now.

With a grin, Kyu gave a thumbs up to the stuffy General. "All sevens, Fujiyama!" She whistled as she looked over the guns, reaching behind her belt to grip the hilt of her zanpakuto. "So I guess we're skipping warm-ups? Kishikaisei, Nananen Ki."

As bright light flashed around the girl's form, Nananen Ki's reiatsu pooling together with her own, Kyu settled into a comfortable fighting stance. The blinding light faded from the top down, revealing the girl's new wardrobe: her by-now trademark white bandana with ends reaching midway down her back; a bright red sleeveless keikogi, revealing the tattoos below each shoulder -- one a single curled tomoe, like a fireball, and the other two lines arcing in to touch an unseen circle -- followed by the white obi with overly-long tails, tied on her right hip; short, tan hakama, only reaching to her thighs like some skirt-short hybrid. Her feet were left bare, toes tapping restlessly, eager to begin.

Seven swords appeared in the ground behind the brunette, four of them bound together at the pommel in the shape of a giant shuriken. Kyu snatched up two blades, gripping both underhanded. Bouncing on the balls of her feet, the girl smiled cheerfully, looking right into Masato's eyes.

"It's 'kay if you didn't already know me," she said as though excusing an embarrassing faux pas. "'Cause by the time we're done, you will remember me!"

[237/454]

Shikai

Zanpakutou:

Like her, Kyu's zanpakuto is small, slightly shorter than a wakizashi. The weapon has very little guard to speak of, being little more than a slightly enlarged flare between handle and blade. The sheath is a smooth, lacquered green. The handle is wrapped in light tan cloth and there is a long, bright-green tassel hanging from the silver pommel. Her pommel has the same summer snowflake symbol as her bandana.

Kyu normally slides the zanpakuto into the back of her belt and draws it underhanded.

Shikai

Name: Nananen Ki
Release: Kishikaisei, Nananen Ki

Form:
The sealed form of the zanpakuto flattens, then broadens and lengthens. The shape is similar to a machete or a wide dao. Upon release, Kyu’s shihakushou changes color: her hakama becomes a bright tan and her keikogi turns a vivid red.

Koushou (Arsenal):
By paying 1% Reiatsu, Kyu can copy her blade. The copied weapon either appears in the air nearby or attached to the pommel of her other sword. Kyu can only have up to four swords connected together, and only up to seven swords total. By paying 5% reiatsu upfront Kyu tosses her current sword(s) in the air and they fall back to the ground as all seven swords, in the shape of a XIII: four blades connected in the shape of a shuriken, and three individual blades.

Soubi (Equipped):
Kyu can summon one weapon freely to her hand every round.

A sly grin snaked its way along the gunslingers palid features as the girl's zanpakutou materialized. The ebony bands that covered her forearm made it clear to Masato that she was no pushover, contrary to his previous opponent.

Maybe this is what he was looking for. A real challenge. Something, someone, against which he could truly test his mettle. He had thought Inuzuri to be that man, but in the end even the restrained captain-commander had proved overwhelming. It had shown the General that he had a long way to go.

Perhaps Tounyuu would prove to be a suitable whetstone with which the Orpheus commander could sharpen his skills. For now, only time would tell.

"Now how do you plan on using all of those?" the gunslinger chided, keen amber eyes examining the plethora of blades summoned around the girl. The General's words were punctuated with a pair of metallic clicks as the chambers on his weapons snapped to a halt. With a glance downward, Masato's smile widened as both weapons began to glow a brilliant argent hue. Turning his gaze back towards the bandana-sporting swordswoman, the General let out a short laugh. "...Wouldn't want you hurting yourself, now would we?"

"You're more likely to shoot yourself in the foot than I am to ever cut myself on a blade!" Kyu declared with a laugh. She frowned thoughtfully and glanced at the swords. "You want me to use them all at once? I don't usually, but I guess it is a special occasion, huh?"

Kyu tossed her second sword to her right hand, then reached back and grabbed the fuuma shuriken and the remaining sword. The swords were clutched between the fingers of her right hand, almost like dao-bladed claws, and the shuriken was cocked back and resting against her left shoulder. Kyu managed to carry it off like it was the most natural thing in the world.

"We starting this thing," the brunette asked, settling into a comfortable stance, "or you wanna gab some more?"

[137/591]

For long minutes Masato didn't answer or react, the two fighters measuring each other, staring at each other, muscles tensed to react to the slightest provocation. The tension in the air was thick enough to cut with a sword or pierce with a bullet, and still time dragged on.

It was Kyu who finally broke the silence, cocking her head. "Or we could stare at each other all day? I mean, if you're scared, say you're scared." Heaving a sigh, the brunette shook out her arms before lifting her swords at the ready again. "If you're not, let's do this!"

Kyu flashed forward, sunlight flashing off her many blades as she slashed upward toward his hip.

[116/707]

Did you just...

Double turn me? Why not just edit? D8< now the thread is all out of order and my OCD is acting up.

The gunslinger's body sprung into action as the sword-wielding girl finally made her move. Muscles tensed and pulled, twisting the human's body in the opposite direction of the strike while rounding the two massive revolvers on his assailant. The tip of the leading blade glanced off the man's flesh as he turned, shredding the sodden fabric of his prized duster and sliding across the meat of his leg beneath. Nothing more than a shallow cut, but enough to confirm the General's suspicions about the girl's strength and skill with the sword. One misstep and he'd get skewered.

Reiatsu flared madly as the gunslinger readied his weapons. Panic, anger, even the pain of his wound was purged from thought as his training took hold, his mind pouring over vectors of attack and counter attack. The Shinigami's line of reasoning was elementary, really. One would expect someone like Masato to favour ranged clashes to a melee brawl; getting in close would be the simplest way to take him down. If only it were so easy. As a master of the Initiative's martial art, the General relished such ignorance. A style of gunplay designed to take advantage of tight quarters, to leverage every movement and exploit every opening to maximum effect. This was the essence of Taihou Kata.

Twin barrels glowed with an intense arcane light, their spiritually-endowed forms thrumming hungrily as the gunslinger snapped into action. The ringing of steel echoed as the first weapon slammed into the girl's leading sword. Muscles flexed as the General leveraged his post-human strength, shoving myriad of swords down and away from himself while moving his opposite weapon into an ideal line of fire.

Too slow.

A second clash echoed through the decrepit battleground, reverberating off the ragged and twisted spire of steel as the Shinigami's opposing hand moved to halt the firearms progress. Pressing against the blades with either of his massive revolvers, the gunslinger grunted out a short compliment.

"Impressive. You're quick," he grinned, exertion visible on his face as he began to flood his musculature with spiritual energies. "...But not quick enough!"

With a flash, he was gone. The singular moment may have only been a scant few milliseconds, but for the two combatants, it seemed to last an eternity. The battleground, for that infinitesimally small amount of time, seemed to be occupied by the Shinigami alone; an eerily ephemeral calm shattered almost instantly by the resounding crash of Masato's revolver firing.

All at once, the General's form seemed to appear on all sides of the girl; ghostly wisps of the Advent's form raining down fire from all sides as the gunslinger moved with a speed that belied his human form. The Shinigami wouldn't know what hit her.

wat

Masato dodged the initial strike on Quick Draw and, after some token gun-fu, used Senkoutaihou Kata, replacing the standard counter with Hecatonchires. Roughly 4,175 reiatsu, plus the quickdraw buff means it's at around 4,800.

Resonance: 5,800/12,654.

Just who does he think I am?

Watching her every move, reacting in the blink of an eye on the slightest provocation, standing up to her head-on fearlessly, and now an attack from every angle, raining down from everywhere at once.

Masato was playing her game. And he was damn good at it.

Kyu twisted her body, flipping a sword over her shoulder, acting more on instinct than conscious thought. Her other hand darted forward simultaneously. The recoil of bullets striking the weapons barely registered before she was moving again. Arms crossed over each other, twisted together, burst apart. The heavier shuriken dropped to the ground but the brunette never stopped moving, three swords in two hands, her bare feet turning and sliding in a tight circle.

Blur matched against blur.

Dozens of bullets rang out against Kyu's swords almost as one single, sonorous peal. The brunette was still standing, sweat suddenly sheening her bare skin as she panted heavily, one more sword clattering to the ground, leaving her with one in each hand. Shaking, chest heaving, Kyu faced off against Masato with a brave grin.

Who's not quick enough? Kyu thought smugly, but out loud she asked, "What do you call that one, Clint?"

Notes
Would greatly appreciate if you actually include the abilities you're using. Felt like doing a research paper trying to hunt down what each of those things did.

Quick thing: this fight should have started 7 days ago. Instead it waited 5 days for you to write not doing anything, then continued to wait. The deadline is in two days. You've been asking for this fight since before the tournament began, let's do this thing.

Holding onto your shots also kills the randomness of random shots that are generated when you pull the trigger, especially when it's been two full rounds after your roll and you haven't shot them, yet. I feel like you lost your golden opportunity here by sitting and waiting.

Using Senpuu to counter Hecatonchires (also note that Masato is still in range, meaning he gets attacked, too).

[ Senpuu ] - "Whirlwind"
Mastery of fighting against the odds allows a Zanjutsu specialist to fight back at full strength, even when surrounded. Still risky and difficult, Senpuu allows the user to perform an omni-directional attack against every target within range, attacking and defending with the full skill of their Zanjutsu.

This costs 5,000 reiatsu and will leave the user wearied and unable to perform similar techniques for three rounds.

Requirements: 9,000 Zanjutsu

As the girl finished her counter, the General reappeared opposite her, sliding to a halt with both weapons glowing bright orange from continuous fire. Breathing heavily, exhausted from the effort of utilizing Hecatonchires, the gunslinger's amber eyes turned upwards to meet Kyuto with a fiery gaze.

"Well damn," Masato smirked, still catching his breath. "...That's never happened before."

Across his front, numerous cuts and gouges dotted his flesh; a grim reminder of the girl's true skill. She'd not only managed to parry Masato's technique, but wound the General in the process. With a dry scoff, the gunslinger mentally redirected his reiatsu to the area, stemming the tide of sanguine lifeblood with healing energies. Eyes glanced downward at the chambers of his weapons as the silvery glow began to fade.

Spent. Just my luck.

With a flick of his wrist, the gunslinger rounded his twin revolvers on the Shinigami once more, their now-empty chambers spinning to life. With a flash of arcane energy, two more rounds were spawned within the confines of the massive weapons; one barrel glowing a pale blue, and the other a brilliant amber.

Without another thought, Masato squeezed the triggers, unleashing a crushing wave of ice and thunder upon the hapless swordswoman.

Numbers

250 + 250 for a double roll on Roulette. Rolled into a Tesla and Cryo. Applying Massive Calibur to both and firing. Also paying 300 for Salve.

Total value is 2,040 for the Cryo, and 2,060 for the Tesla.

Resonance: 9,900/12,654.

Kyu leaped backward into an aerial whirl, blades extended. The leading edge of one sword struck the beam of amber lightning, deflecting the churning electricity upward to strike the spire itself.

The wave of frost, however, engulfed the petite swordswoman.

From the icy whiteness, Kyu shouted out, "Bankai!"

The massive ice wave broke, bursting apart in a globe surrounding Kyu. Her clothes had undergone another transformation, replacing her shorts with loose leggings and her keikogi with a deep red fighting robe. The swords in her hands were now enormous, falchions fully as long as she was tall, still held as easily as if they were mere wakizashi. More swords rained downward, sinking into the concrete to stand upright, dozens of them. Seven times seven swords littered the battlefield.

"Shonanoka Nananen Ki," Kyu introduced her bankai with a chattering grin: her left side and arm were visibly pale and shivering, with a dark spot on her robes, just above her hip. "Pretty cool, huh?" Whether she meant his attack or her bankai wasn't immediately clear.

She met Masato's eyes, her left eye now a piercing amber while her right remained a bright grey-violet.

The girl burst forward in a flash-step straight toward the gunman, then blinked at the last second to his left side, launching a sword end-over-end toward his legs. The brunette dashed after the spinning sword, both arms crossed over her chest with falchions extending past each shoulder.

[239/1337]

Notes
Used Kawasu on the Tesla wave (with Shield Break, it only blocks 3k but still enough), took the hit from Cryo wave. She activated Bankai, shunpo'd at Masato, then used her BK ability to teleport to his side.

One thrown sword and a dual-wielding brunette incoming.

[ Kawasu ] - "To Turn Aside"
There are some attacks which cannot be stopped, and a master of his weapon recognizes that fact. However, that does not mean that he must submit to those attacks. By hardening his swordsman's spirit, the practitioner of this technique can parry a powerful blast, deflecting it away from himself and his allies.

This technique costs 3,000 reiatsu and only affects attacks up to twice as strong.

Requirements: 7,000 Zanjutsu

Shonanoka Nananen Ki
▼ Seventh-Day Memorial, Seventh-Year Anniversary

When Kyu tosses up the form of her shikai and calls out, "Bankai!" the blades lengthen and broaden again, widening near the tip and curving to a sharp point, similar to a falchion blade. Though each blade is large enough to be wielded with two hands, they are no heavier than their shikai counterparts. Similar to her shikai, the weapons land in the formation of a Xiii: four swords connected at the pommel and three separate. However, where before there was one such set of seven swords, in Bankai Kyu summons seven sets of seven, for a total of forty-nine blades. These blades rain down upon the release of Bankai, solidifying in the ground all around her and her enemies. One hand clutches a four-bladed shuriken while the other hand holds three blades between her fingers.

Kyuto's left eye turns amber while the right remains grey-violet. Her clothing changes again, becoming a fiery red sleeveless robe, split at her right hip to reveal her leg with loose tan leggings.

Kabuto Hei - Armored Warrior
Kyu has mastery over all of her weapons, able to teleport them back to herself. Up to seven swords can be summoned to her hands per round: the first is free, but after that Kyu must pay 200 reiatsu per individual sword or 1000 reiatsu to call seven at once.

Kyouken - Strong Throwing Arm
Burning 2% reiatsu per round, Kyu is able to throw her blades with great force, launching forward in a straight line with the full strength of her zanjutsu up to 40m.

Dengeki Sakusan - Blitzkrieg Tactics
By paying 400 reiatsu, Kyu can instantly teleport to any of her blades within 15m, which must be immediately used for an attack or risk having the energy of the movement blow the weapon away. She can do this only once per round, separate from shunpo.

Dai Arashi - Raging Storm
Shonanoka Nananen Ki's final attack involves utilizing up to seven blades within 15m of a single target. Kyuto pays 20% of her total reiatsu and enters into a hyper state. In an instant, Kyu attacks the target seven times, from multiple directions.

Due to the strain, Kyu cannot use this attack more than once a battle.

A resounding crash echoed through the battleground, punctuated by the ringing of steel against steel as a single gleaming rifle fell from the ether and rooted itself nose down between Masato and his opponent; the polished steel barrel deflecting the thrown blade out and away from the gunslinger.

Senses enhanced by arcane energies tracked the girl as she moved in the wake of her initial attack, keen amber eyes parsing every second of the encounter. The General's revolvers turned to dust in his grasp, their corporeal forms blowing away like so much ash. Reaching outward as the swordswoman neared, a second longrifle fell from the heavens, landing in the gunslinger's outstretched hand. Turning on his heel, Masato spun the weapon around, placing its slender form between himself and Kyuto.

A second clash rang out as the girl's blades slammed against the side of the rifle, forcing the General to brace himself against the strike. Sharp amber orbs stared into the girl's heterochromatic eyes for the briefest of moments before the gunslinger spoke.

"Rikugun no Ichi." he grinned, announcing the name of his post-human power in an almost mocking tone. As the words left his lips, the heavens opened up, raining down hundreds of identical rifles all across the battleground. With a flash of arcane energy, the General disappeared, quickly reappearing atop an outcrop of steel jutting from the spire, a gleaming repeater in his grasp. Staring out over the battlefield, he couldn't help but chuckle to himself.

A dichotomy of swords and rifles dotted the landscape below; a combination of both combatants ultimate expressions of power.

"Get ready," the grizzled man smirked, turning his gaze towards Kyuto. "...The real battle starts now, kid."

things

Masato activated his TA and parsed Kyuto's attacks with Bullet Time. The block with the falling rifle was just a stylized parry. He then blinked up to somewhere on the spire. Reapplying Salve to his wounds.

"Then why are you running away, copy-cat?" Kyu taunted, a wide grin plastered on her face, both blades at the ready. Somehow, despite his grumpy exterior, this awakening was making her start to like the guy. After all, guns or swords aside, it felt like he shared the same outlook on battle that she had: put away all the cheap tricks, put a weapon in her hand, and let her fight!

Kyu held one falchion up vertically, crossing it with the other, mentally marking the distance. "Bring it on, army-dude!"

With a grunt, Kyu spun and sent both swords spinning through the air, but they were flying wide. The brunette kicked one of Masato's rifles up into the air, snatched it and rapidly took aim -- it was upside down, she knew, but still had the business end pointed at its owner -- then pulled the trigger with her pinky.

[150/1487]

Notes
Using Kyouken (throw swords up to 40m at full zanjutsu) and Bank Shot. The swords will hit the spire on either side of Masato and ricochet toward him.

Bank Shot
▼ Unique Feat: Final Release

Kyuto always shunned kidou, professing that the demon spells were just a slower, flashier way of doing things that a sword could do better. Even though she's softened her views on kidou, she still has the mind-set that her weapons can do anything she needs them to. Because of that, she developed this technique.

After pouring 300 reiatsu into a weapon, Kyu is able to ricochet the thrown weapon off of nearly any object or surface, up to ninety degrees.

Eyes narrowed in frustration and bemusement as the girl hurled another set of blades towards the gunman, while attempting to wield his own weapon against him. As the girl squeezed the trigger, the sheer recoil of the misplaced rifle caused her aim to careen upwards, sending the comparatively plain bullet high and wide. Masato had never encountered an enemy foolhardy enough to try and shoot him with his own guns, but it seemed that the General's suspicions about their efficacy when used by someone other than their progenitor were correct.

Watching as the twin blades sailed past him to either side, the gunslinger was surprised and decidedly unprepared as the pair ricochetted off of the mess of steel at his back and veered towards him. Barking out a few jumbled curses, the General ducked low and jumped, flattening out horizontally and allowing each of the blades passage above and below his body. It was an impressive feat of agility that belied a man of his stature, but the evasion was not pulled off as cleanly as he would have liked. As the leading sword passed above him, Masato cringed as he felt its edge dig into his back and slice through his flesh. Gritting his teeth, the gunslinger reached out as the second blade passed beneath him, narrowly grabbing its hilt and halting its forward motion just before landing.

Heaving from the effort of trying to avoid the attack, the grizzled agent stared down at the weapon in his grasp with a look of confusion. Everything was backwards. The Shinigami was shooting at him with his guns, and now he had one of her swords.

"Now what the hell am I supposed to do with this?" the man chortled at the girl, surprised her frail-looking arms managed to weather the blowback from Rikugun no Ichi. "...Here, you can have it back!"

Sprinting forward to the edge of the steel outcropping, the man spun on his heel, hefting the surprisingly heavy scimitar and flinging it clumsily back towards its owner. Not a moment later, the gunslinger's form disappeared from view before quickly reappearing behind Kyuto, his hand on the rifle in her grasp. Gripping the barrel of the weapon, the General twisted, pulling her arm behind her back and attempting to keep her in line with the oncoming blade.

stuff
Masato took a hit from one blade, nabbed the other and threw it back (stylized Gyaku). He then teleported to the gun in Kyuto's hand and put her in a half arm-bar, trying to keep her in the way of the sword he chucked moments before.

The girl let out a surprised urk as her arm was yanked painfully upward. How did he..? She would have slapped her forehead if her slapping hand wasn't being held in a ridiculously strong vice grip.

Of course he could jump to his weapons, too!

Kyu ducked her knees and kicked upward with a twist. Her skull slammed into Masato's chin, launching the unsuspecting human skyward. She twirled with the movement, wrenching her arm painfully free of his slackened grip and shoving away. The flying sword teleported to her hand and Kyu hit the ground and rolled back to her feet, yanking another sword from the ground as she faced Masato.

"You never did tell me what you call that attack!" she called out.

Headbutt shoryuken!

[ Goraikou ] - "Rising Sun"
This attack is executed using the entire body: from a mid- to close-range, the user coils back and then springs forward, delivering a punishing, rising attack to their opponent's head, launching that opponent 10m into the air.

This technique costs 500 reiatsu and lifts the user 5m into the air as well.

Requirements: 2,000 Hakuda

"Unlike your bunch, I ain't really into giving each and every technique a name," the gunslinger mused, wiping a bead of crimson from his nose with the back of his hand. It seemed his opponent had a hard head in more ways than one. "...Too much to remember. It's not like having a name makes it any stronger."

Spinning the long rifle end over end, the General grasped at the butt of the weapon, pressing the barrel deep into the concrete at his feet. Reaching into his coat, he grabbed hold of two metal canisters. Biting at the steel pins with his teeth, the agent pulled, loosing the safeties and hurling the two grenades towards Kyuto.

"Catch!" he barked as the pair rolled to a halt near to the girl. In a heartbeat, both detonated with a resounding boom and blinding flash, covering the battleground in a thick, reishi-laden fog; the explosion sending swords and guns flying in every direction.

With a flash of arcane energy, the gunslinger appeared above Kyuto, grabbing hold of one of his uprooted weapons mid air and turning its barrel downward. Aiming towards the center of the cloud, he squeezed the trigger, unleashing another massive bolt of electrical energy towards the unwitting swordswoman.

Tossed a flashbang and riot canister at Kyuto, then blinked to one of the flying rifles and fired a Roulette Barrage shot. Rolled 4, another tesla round.

The brunette was opening her mouth to retort, pausing when Masato threw the canisters, swords gripped and ready to slice the weapons apart. Then familiarity blossomed.

Kyu threw both swords in front of her eyes just before the blinding flash, but there was no blocking the deafening bang or the rush of smoke.

A flashbang... just like the ones she used to use in the Blitz. She almost laughed: back then she used one against a Masato and now a Masato used one against her! Then she had...

Tendons popping, Kyu desperately cut her blades upward, but the torrent of lightning shot through the sword, down Kyu's arm, sending numbing shocks through her body. Her second sword dropped to the ground. The girl shrieked, a brief, piercing sound before she clamped her lips shut.

Kyu flashed out of the tesla beam, shakily gripping one of the giant fuuma shuriken. The deadly windmill launched through the smoke, banging off of a sword or a rifle in the distance.

Notes
I went back and forth on this one a bit. Kyu used to use flashbangs back when they were standard kit for the Blitzkrieg. Probably best example I can think of is actually against the other Masato, which is referenced in this turn. It's not a standard tactic and they're a different design, but ultimately I found it hard to justify not shielding her eyes because of one thing: Masato calling out "Catch!" before they detonated.

Shielding eyes doesn't protect against the 'bang' of a flashbang, though, and with Shield Break she can't use Kawasu against Roulette Barrage, so it's a pretty solid hit.

Blinking to one side and ricocheting a sword off of some weapons on the other side, since I presume Masato can't see through his own fog.

From high above the battleground, keen amber eyes watched the fog for any sign of movement. Reiatsu flared as the agent poured his power into his ocular cavities. All at once, the colors around him seemed to wash away, replaced by bright tones highlighting his co-combatant's position below him. Still falling, the gunslinger gritted his teeth as he watched the girl's outline move, hurling another of her massive shurikens towards him.

"Shit!" he cursed, pulling a long steel tube from the confines of his duster. Twisting it around, the General thumbed its ignition, causing an oblong wall of translucent blue energy to spring to life between him and the ravenous blade with a loud 'pop'.

Sparks showered down over the battlefield as the whirling blade churned against the shield before, with a sound like shattering glass, the thin veil of energy was demolished. Eyes widened as the force that remained behind the blade sent it spinning towards Masato with vengeance. Contorting his form mid air, tendrils of coalesced energy wreathed the General's body, snapping tight and propelling him out of the trajectory of the blade...mostly.

The Gunslinger let out a muted cry as the leading edges tore through the meat of his shoulder, leaving a deep gash and breaking his collar bone with a sickening snap. Landing heavily, the agent gritted his teeth through the pain, mentally directing more of his healing energies to the fresh wound. Eyes still focused on the bright outline of Kyuto amidst the fog, the gunslinger reached for his nearest firearm with his good hand. Hefting the gleaming rifle and taking extra care to line up its sights, Masato poured his reiatsu into the weapon and squeezed the trigger, letting lose not a single round, but a veritable rain of hot lead down upon the girl.

Activated Hunter-Killer...

[ Ryoshi Kyoukan ] - 猟師凶漢
(Hunter-Killer)

When hunting spiritual game, an agent’s most valuable asset, apart from their weapons, is their eyes. Being able to detect and react to the most cunning of prey can mean the difference between life and death for an agent of the Initiative. As such, maintaining focus on an enemy in the most challenging conditions has always been a cornerstone of Orpheus’ modus operandi. Drawing on Initiative techniques such as Takagan, Ryoushi Kyoukan pushes the envelope even further, allowing agents to greatly improve their visual abilities for a brief period of time.

By spending 5% of their reiatsu, practitioners of Ryoushi Kyoukan gain vastly enhanced vision for three turns following activation. While this technique is active, enemies within a thirty meter radius around the agent are highlighted, with recently attacked foes appearing brighter and in clearer focus. This effect only applies to targets that have already been seen or detected.

Targets highlighted by Ryoushi Kyoukan can be seen through most physical obstructions (stealth techniques are not dispelled by this ability), although those in cover will appear duller and less bright. Additionally, this ability confers an increase in accuracy (reflected as an increase to Combat proportional to the cost, for aiming purposes only) to any target highlighted by the ability.

Ryoushi Kyoukan can activated one time per chapter or collab, as well as one additional use for every 5k in Combat, to a maximum of five. Multiple instances Ryoushi Kyoukan cannot be activated within two rounds of one another.

...And then popped my Resonance Shield to try and block the shuriken. Since your attack was 2k, and the shield is 1k, I took a big hit to Masato's left shoulder. He then dropped back to the ground and fired one shot of Roulette Barrage. Rolled a 1 (finally), but in TA that means "Buckshot Basic Round" instead of "Misfire" :P

Color also washed away from the young shinigami's world as the visor settled over her eyes. All around her, the battlefield glowed red with the swords and rifles littering the area, but there was one in particular she had her eyes on. There was no time to think, no time to consider the searing pain of the rushing electricity or the frigid burn of the earlier shot. When Masato pulled the trigger, Kyu acted, and when the round of buckshot hit home an instant later, she was already gone.

From behind Masato, Kyu called out, "I named it Dai Arashii." Then, with a grunt of effort, she threw the blood-stained shuriken back the way it came just before her feet touched back down on the ground. The world seemed to stand still, loose pellets practically frozen where they ricocheted off of the blades and firearms. In that instant, Kyu burned the location of every weapon into her memory; there wouldn't be time to look for one.

The girl pushed herself to the limit, beyond it, violet reishi rolling off her body like steam.

The shuriken flew at Masato's back and at the same time, Kyu was in front of him, thrusting for his hip, and also in the air above him, slicing downward at his good shoulder. The girl sliced upward from his left, diagonally from his right, spun in a dramatic low whirl toward the backs of his legs. Her eyes locked on Masato's, her diminutive form rushing straight ahead, past his side, sword slicing across his mid-section.

Every attack happened all at once, bending reality to her mastery of that singular art of the sword. In their wake, Kyu stumbled to a stop behind the gunman, sword falling from her hands with a clatter, her back toward his. The girl's heart hammered in her chest, reishi billowing from her skin. She summoned another sword to her hands, holding tightly. "Did... it feel stronger..?" she asked in between breaths.

Notes
Used all of her bankai abilities in this round. Teleported to the shuriken that deflected off his shoulder, used power throw at his back to initiate Dai Arashi -- 7 simultaneous attacks. Summoned one more sword to her hand at the end.

Crimson lifeblood splattered in all directions as the girl mounted her attack, carving a testament to her skill with the blade into Masato's flesh. Even with his post human senses, the General was too slow to counter the flurry of attacks. All he could do was endure.

And endure he did.

By virtue of his spiritual evolution, Masato's body was far more hearty than the average human, or even a Shinigami. He had been shot, stabbed, burned, electrocuted, experimented upon...He had been ravaged by arcane powers the likes of which this girl had never seen. And still he persevered. The pain was intense, but not unfamiliar. In his mind, as the blood-loss began to set in, the sensation seemed almost calming; a familiar sting to keep his focus.

Gritting his teeth as the last blade slid through his flesh, the Gunslinger dropped to a knee, sanguine fluid dripping from his form and staining the dirt at his feet. Across from him he could see Kyuto, her outline still glowing vividly against the sodden backdrop.

"Heh...I guess...It really does make a difference." the General managed to cough out, his piercing amber gaze focusing on the girl. "...You know, I've only really got one technique with a name..."

What happened next was beyond comprehension. Battered, bloodied and broken, Masato's spiritual pressure began to rise. A crack like thunder sounded as a truly massive weapon fell from the ether, thumping to the dirt next to Masato and shaking the ground beneath their feet. Grabbing the massive handle, the Gunslinger's reiatsu surged forth. Various mechanical clicks sounded as a scope dropped down over the agent's eye, projecting a targeting reticle over the Kyuto. With a thump that rattled the spire at their backs, the rifle's gargantuan breech snapped back, a bright light and ear-splitting whine signalling the gathering of energy for Masato's final attack. Not a moment later, the breech lurched forward, slamming closed and ejecting a massive cartridge easily as tall as the weapon's wielder. The gargantuan metal casing tumbled to the ground with a hollow thump, ringing with a sense of finality; in this moment, everything would be decided.

"Samui-Chi," the Gunslinger barked, still peering at the Shinigami through his scope. "...Let's see if your theory holds up!"

And with a press of a trigger, Masato set the world ablaze.

Took the hits, reduced the damage slightly with True Grit but Masato's still on his last legs. Continuing to Salve his wounds and activating my overdrive attack, Samui-chi. Applying Force and Pierce.
