Act 1
The Grand City of Terminus
Narrator:
Welcome ladies and gents
Welcome velens and en-
lils to a little tale that I want to tell.
Of course it takes place in the greatest city you will ever see.
Located in a world that suffered a giant quake
Everyone gathered together after that big wake.
The city is far and wide, and it's name is Terminus
The law enforcement is known as the Conexus.
There are also guilds of all kinds
To deal with the problems from sword to mind.
Each and every night there are over 1001 tales
If you try to listen to them all, well you'll be there a while
So how about I pick and choose
One that is sure to amuse.
I want to take you on a journey about triumph of the meek
We will join in on this story
In the action as it should be.
Our main heroine is Sahin, a young spurii girl.
For specificities sake, she is a velen and laicar.
And so away we go into the city that's the greatest
One of the many tales in Terminus
Sahin:
Oh I am not a girl anymore
Why I turned sixteen just the day before
Though it doesn't mean much at all I suppose.
No one around me cares. No friends, just colleagues
Wait, that's not the term. Coworkers? Acquaintances
Either way we're on the job
What's that you ask? It's to rob
Anything and everything we can.
Why must it be?
Why must I go along with this treachery?
Is this who I want to be?
To take and cause fear
To never have anyone to hold dear
Is this all that I have before me?
If there's another way I cannot see.
(Sounds of lockpicks)
(Sounds of a door opening)
Sahin:
The way is clear.
The coast is clear.
Gang members:
Alright, boys, you know what to do!
Take it all, take everything you can!
And if anyone stands in your way
Strike them down, woman or man.
(Sounds of drawers and cabinets)
(Sounds of coins)
Sahin:
The way is clear.
The coast is clear.
Though I am to take what I can
I find that my hands
Would rather not.
The jewelry sparkles so prettily
The patterns are so intricate on the tapestries.
They don't belong to me, though, and I don't want
To take them down from their rightful home.
The way is clear.
The coast is clear.
Though my job isn't done yet.
I have many skills, none of them good
So is this what I'm forced to do?
(Sounds of things being smashed)
Gang members:
Haha we've got we can.
So why are your hands so empty?
Take it all and then let's scram!
Sahin:
To take all we can and to run away
Open the doors, and open all the windows
Sneak past the traps, oh yes those exist
Maybe disarm them if they can't be bypassed
Is that who I want to be?
Narrator:
Walking alone, Sahin separates from the group. She prefers it that way, as they make for poor company. Too rowdy, too smelly, too mean. She takes her time going through the dark streets of Terminus passing by a clockman selling clocks at the oddest time of night and the twins that stand on either side of the street staring at each other as well as the single policeman, too overworked and tired to care about anything not to mention cage of canines. Ah, I see I'm getting off topic, so back to the story at hand.
Sahin:
Looking around at all of the quiet streets
At the buildings and homes, with people sleeping in their sheets.
Who are they? What do they desire?
When do they accomplish their dreams? Where do they work?
And who am I? Just a thief of jewels and silver forks.
Who I want to be? Within this grand city?
Everything is possible for those that look
Maybe a baker creating good yeasty scents.
Maybe a builder, constructing houses and a fence.
Who I want to be? Within this grand city?
If there were no shackles on me?
Learn to use the lance as a lancer.
Conjure some spirits as a conjurer.
Take a look at some bounty boards and go for a hunt.
Good thing if you look you won't find my mug.
Tinker with some machines and create little drones.
Grab a hammer and craft weapons of chrome.
Everything is possible within this world,
But what of me? What I want to be?
Who I want to be?
What do I want to be? If I didn't need to be me?
What I want to be?
Despite my current life.
Who I want to be? Within this grand city?
A beautiful social butterfly
Invited to all the parties at night
A tamer of wild beasts
Bringing them out in my circus.
I am nothing more than a thief,
One that stalks while the fine folk sleep.
Who I have to be,
Might have been determined already,
But that doesn't mean
I have to change who I want to be.
To be kind, to be thoughtful,
To make the world a better place.
That is who I want to be.
Narrator:
Now I take you to the Badhang Gang. They are a notorious group of thugs that roam the streets. And their leader is the vilest enlil cad you ever met. He's rude, violent and doesn't hesitate to take what he wants. Even worse, his name is hard to rhyme! It is so not sublime. It's really not a fun time. It is just filled with grime.
I shudder to even say his name. But I will say it because that is what I do. The leader of the Badhang Gang is named Mister Sandberg.
(Sounds of coins and cheering)
(Sounds of laughter and cups clinking)
Badhang Gang:
That was a good haul.
Yeah, and so easy.
Too bad. I wanted some action.
That's right. No one will stop us.
Because we're the Badhand Gang!
We're the Badhand Gang
We're the Badhand Gang
We'll go in robbing even without a plan.
Don't think we're simply just thieves
If it calls for it, we'll also burgle you better believe.
Shaking it up, shaking it down
You better be wary, we're coming around.
Shake it to the left, shake it to the right
If you want a go, be prepared to fight.
We're ruffian and brigands, and nothing more
The only thing we're after is riches galore.
Good morals? Good manners?
Hah, don't make us laugh.
We're not looking for a fair fight
That's really daft.
Shaking it up, shaking it down
You better be wary, we're coming around.
Shake it to the left, shake it to the right
If you want a go, be prepared to fight.
Old ladies are prime for the picking.
All gullible fools could do with a tricking.
Anything we want we'll take away
If you try to stop us, to the hospital you'll stay.
Mister Sandberg:
Hahaha! That's right my vicious crew.
No one out there can outmatch you.
Come on boys, let's spread it out
I'll clear the table so show me the loot.
Look at all this gold, look at all these jewels
Now that's what I'm talking about
So it's time to celebrate and take a load off.
Come on now, bring out the stout.
Badhand Gang:
Shaking it up, shaking it down
You better be wary, we're coming around.
Shake it to the left, shake it to the right
If you want a go, be prepared to fight.
We're the Badhand Gang
We're the Badhand Gang
There's no better crew around
If you want a shortcut to funds.
Because we take what we want and never give it back.
Don't mess with us, we'll go on the attack!
Mister Sandberg:
Ah, Sahin, you're finally back.
What took you so long? Did you get lost out in the cracks?
Sahin:
Sorry, boss, I was just taking a walk.
I wanted to be alone with my thoughts.
Mister Sandberg:
You're just in time because I have a great new plan.
But first show me what is in your hands?
What kind of loot did you bring?
Sahin:
Here is what I have.
Here is what I stole.
Mister Sandberg:
Come on, now, what's this? It isn't very much.
What's this? It could all fit in a clutch.
Where is all of the good stuff?
You're share of the take will be reduced
Unless some more things you can produce.
Sahin:
Hey! I was busy there.
I was keeping a lookout
Making sure the coast was clear.
I did a lot of work, so why should I take in less?
I need that exa to take care of my mom.
Mister Sandberg:
You should have thought about that
And grabbed everything you can.
No one cares about you keeping watch.
All I care about is what you have in your hand.
So this is all you get and you'll be happy with that.
Now everyone listen up! Listen well.
Open your ears, what I'm about to say is real swell.
I have a plan to get a lot of power.
We'll all rise up to that golden tower!
No more slumming it around for us.
No more scraping by day by day.
We'll be able to take all we want
We'll go out, have fun and always play.
So boys and girl, let's do this thing.
If you listen to me, we'll be sure to win.
First off, I need you all to go out and find
A lot of high value items that I can
Then fence off for a lot of money
Now all this exa I need for a reason
So don't expect to see it appear,
But worry not because the result
Will be fantastic for all of us.
I'll tell you all the rest of my plan
After you get me my prizes.
Trust me, you'll really like it
It'll be better than your best surprise.
I have a list of items I need.
Oh, take anything else you want
Give into your greed.
(sounds of papers)
As for you, Sahin, I have the perfect thing.
You can be slippery as an eel
And that will really help you steal
The treasure that I desire.
Hey now, don't look at me like that.
I didn't mean eel because you're part fish.
Don't be so sensitive, keep your eyes fixed.
Now go! As fast as you can
Take to the night, my Badhand Gang.
And take it all.
Narrator:
Over the next few days, a series of robberies happen. They are all over the city, and no one really realizes all of it was done by the Badhang Gang. There are a lot of nighttime smash and grab jobs.
Sahin's assigned mission is a medal located inside an old mansion. It is a worn out place not in good upkeep. She bides her time, watching what's happening around the comings and goings around. If she has to steal, she certainly didn't want to run into anyone.
One evening, once what few staff the mansion had was gone, Sahin snuck in easily through a second-floor window.
Sahin:
Sneaking along the shadows.
Hiding all my woes.
What am I searching for in this old home?
The walls creak with sadness.
Everything tells a story.
What am I searching for in this old home?
A medal of valor, of bravery, of heart
Granted to the owner, but for what?
The pictures on the walls tells a story of a refined man
Standing straight and tall and proud.
What would I be like if I could be like that?
Sneaking along the shadows.
Hiding all my fears.
Creeping through the halls looking and searching.
Searching for the treasure that isn't mine.
Searching for the treasure undeserved.
Sneaking along the shadows.
Hiding my regrets.
Here I hop. There I roll. Add in a slide or two.
Making my way through this old home
For reasons that I don't know.
Yet I do it anyway because I have nothing.
Oh, there it is.
Narrator:
Sahin is usually the symbol of grace
There is rarely an occasion where she falls on her face.
Yet on that night, her mind is reeling
With thoughts of doubts of actions of stealing.
While she heads for the underserved
Target, her feet trip over the carpet that curved.
Sahin:
Ahh!
Stupid carpet. It certainly wasn't there before.
Old Woman:
Who's there?
(Sound of light switch)
You, what are you doing with that?
Put it down right this instant.
Sahin:
What should I say? How should I respond?
Leave me alone you old bat.
This medal is mine, I take what I want.
Old Woman:
No, you won't. You'll put that back.
You cannot have it. You cannot touch it.
Who do you think you are?
Upon my house you do encroach.
Sahin:
That stare, that glare, it is so full of reproach.
Here we are, in the night, when she is so old.
And yet, so bold, she chooses to approach.
Well, I'm a member of the Badhand Gang
So you'd better watch out.
We're shaking it up, shaking it down
You better be wary, we're coming around.
Shake it to the left, shake it to the right
If you want a go, be prepared to fight.
Old Woman:
If that's what it takes, then I'm prepared.
If you touch that medal, you won't be spared.
That belongs to my late husband
It is the only thing that remains of him.
It is the only thing that keeps his memories alive.
Anything else, I wouldn't care, but that is his joy and pride
I won't back down at all
If you dare to touch that medal.
I can see the hesitation in your eyes
You are too young to be in a gang of bad guys
Is this who you want to be?
There must be another way for you.
Sahin:
Who I want to be?
Does it really matter at all?
Who I want to be?
Everything will lead to my fall.
Looking at her fierceness and determination
Taking her treasures won't give me a sense of elation.
Relating to her husband, it is her final memories
How can I just take it as I please?
No. I won't. This medal you can keep
Keep it close to your heart.
Old Woman:
Wait. Don't go. If you need help, I can provide it.
Mister Sandberg:
What are you saying Sahin
Maybe I heard wrong in this din.
You don't have the medal I tasked you to find?
No, this won't do at all. Go back out and grab it again.
Bring it back to be mine!
Sahin:
That isn't possible anymore.
The owner knows it's a target now.
She'll be sure to hide from this day fore
We'll no longer be able to keep it in sight.
Mister Sandberg:
You're the sneakiest of my gang
Yet you disappoint. How did you fail? I don't even want to ask.
You know the price of failure is pain
To learn that the most important thing is the task.
(Sounds of hitting)
Narrator:
While something unpleasant is happening behind us
How about I take you to a story from the past?
I guess it's not that long ago
Just when Sahin had a younger glow.
There was a stranger that she met one day.
That gave her nudge in a new way.
When she was hungry and filled with dread,
Someone with even less than her gave her some bread.
Stranger:
Hahaha! What a wonderful morning.
Hahaha! Would you like to share in breakfast with me?
Hahaha! How about some fine wine I've been fermenting?
Sahin:
What are you so cheerful for?
You live in absolute squalor.
You barely have enough food
For yourself, yet you want to
Share with other people around?
That's a choice that doesn't seem sound.
Stranger:
Dining alone with more for me
Is worse than a little company
I can be cheerful because I realize
There are certain things I can control within my life.
Has anyone ever told you
That the city will mold you.
Taking you from everything you think
Pushing you further into the brink.
It's easy to be happy, show joy, be kind
Under Caesar's warm shiny ray.
What will you do when you have nothing
Hidden away from the light of day.
I am who I want to be
Even if the world tries to change me.
I am who I want to be
No matter what hardships I see
Because there are certain things I can control
That is my view of the world.
Has anyone ever told you
That the city will mold you.
Taking you from everything you think
Pushing you further into the brink.
It's easy to be happy, show joy, be kind
Under Caesar's warm shiny ray.
What will you do when you have nothing
Hidden away from the light of day.
It's easy to be happy, show joy, be kind
Under Caesar's warm shiny ray.
What will you do when you have nothing
Hidden away from the light of day.
I choose to strive for the best
No matter what the rest
Of the city tells me.
Of the city tells me.
Of the city tells me.
Though you may be down
With trash all around
You have to decide
Who is it you want to be
Will you be hardened?
Be cruel and harsh to thrive?
Keep the heart, keep the kindness
That is what we truly need to survive.
Has anyone ever told you
That the city will mold you.
Taking you from everything you think
Pushing you further into the brink.
It's easy to be happy, show joy, be kind
Under Caesar's warm shiny ray.
What will you do when you have nothing
Hidden away from the light of day.
So you must decide
With everything going on outside
Who you want to be?
Narrator:
Good day once again, dear readers looking
To the Grand City of Terminus.
The Grand City of Terminus, what is there to say?
Every single word can be used in some way.
The things that go on here can be outrageous.
To some it certainly is umbrageous.
There are people that sings songs of truth
While others fill their vowels full of bunkum.
There is the Sapientia Coetus
Which is the preeminent university
It is full of books, learning and bel-espirit.
Then again, it's also garbled by prolixity
Oh well, it's what you do to go learn.
And now back to our current story
Where Mister Sandberg is being dastardly
Having gained enough money to further his goal
Let's step into see what he's up to now.
Mister Sandberg:
What do I deserve? Why, everything I want.
It's only fair after all.
I'm just taking what I never had.
It's only fair after all.
To have power and riches as a goal that isn't bad.
To have everything I never did back when I was a lad.
Father was a nasty lout, always rowdy and always shouting
He didn't like to work and did the least he could.
I was the one who was forced to take care of the family
Yet it wasn't enough, and he drove mother away.
It was just us, with him seeing my value as a worker.
While I labored, he partied himself into a stupor.
What do I deserve? Why, everything I want.
It's only fair after all.
I'm just taking what I never had.
It's only fair after all.
To have power and riches as a goal that isn't bad.
To have everything I never did back when I was a lad.
What did I get out of all those years of work?
Nothing!
What was my reward helping my father out of a jam?
Nothing!
What he wanted was more and more.
Nothing! I did was good enough.
What I had to do kept on growing.
It was all a waste. My youth gone without a trace.
I toiled so for a man that didn't care
About one thing I did as long as I did something more.
What do I deserve? Why, everything I want.
It's only fair after all.
I'm just taking what I never had.
It's only fair after all.
To have power and riches as a goal that isn't bad.
To have everything I never did back when I was a lad.
Misses Balfrost:
What is this place? It's so wretched and cruel.
People huddle in shadows, leering out with a hungering gaze.
In the night, in the day, all they do is while their time away.
It's such a place filled with gloomy sadness.
I must hurry on, there's no time to wait.
Hello, you there, I'm looking for someone. Can you answer some questions?
Good day, I'm looking for someone. Perhaps you've seen her?
It will take just a moment of your time. Just a moment and nothing more.
Searching for a reason once again to be alive.
Long after I sat all day in an unending dive.
Something sparked within me, gave me a new reason
To stand up and journey from my home into the season
Of the world, in the wind, under the stars.
But where is she? The one that I seek.
Is she here, in the streets of the meek?
The ways here are so twisted in shadow.
I am unable to make my way without anyone to follow.
(Sound of coin dropping into a cup)
Excuse me, I'm searching for someone from the Badhand Gang. Perhaps you can help me?
Wait. Don't leave. Was it something I said?
Though it is a challenge, I won't give up.
I never did before, so I won't stop
Looking for the one from that night.
Narrator:
While walking along the street to this meeting, Mister Sandberg catches wind of someone asking about the Badhand Gang. It was just a coincidence, but he happened to overhear a conversation. Seeing a well-to-do woman, he approaches her.
Mister Sandberg:
My, my, my, what have we here?
I hadn't noticed her before, but my attention was alerted.
Hello. Good day. Did I hear right?
You're searching for the Badhand Gang?
Misses Balfrost:
Yes, I am. Do you happen to know them?
Mister Sandberg:
What could a fine lady such yourself
Want to do with a gang like that?
They're not for the faint of heart
They are the baddest of the bad around.
Beware, beware, for they are lurking
In the darkness, in the night, they are stalking
So once again I ask
What could a fine lady such as yourself
Want to do with a gang like that?
Misses Balfrost:
My business is my own, but to tell you a bit.
What I want them for is to have a little chat
With one specific member. If you know
Where they are, could you please direct me to them?
Mister Sandberg:
Why of course, please follow me
I'll be sure to lead you right to them.
So, those are some very nice clothes you have.
Those earrings are quite fetching too.
Fetching a good price, I think.
Misses Balfrost:
What was that you said?
Stop mumbling and speak up.
Mister Sandberg:
Oh, it's nothing, it's nothing
Come on, not further now.
Just down this alley to the Badhand Gang's hidden abode.
Come on, just this way more.
Ahah! Here we are, you found the Badhand Gang.
It's me, I am the gang and all they have belong to me.
Give me all your exa, give me all your jewels.
This is almost too easy like picking fruit from the tree.
Misses Balfrost:
You! How dare you try to rob me.
How dare you use children for your dirty work.
You swine, you filth, you despicable bilge.
Mister Sandberg:
Words don't cut me at all.
I reserve that for blades, like this one here.
Give me all you have because be warned
I have no problem using this weapon.
Misses Balfrost:
Help! Help!
Oh someone help!
There's a treacherous man up to no good
And he needs to be stopped.
(Sounds of a whistle)
Mister Sandberg:
Curses, the Conexus
Who would have thought?
It seems they're not entirely useless
In this district here.
You got lucky old lady, so I'll let you go.
I have more important business to see to
So I have no time to stay.
Police:
Is everything alright here, Ma'am?
Misses Balfrost:
Oh yes, your presence is greatly appreciated.
I shudder to think what would have happened
If you hadn't appeared to save me.
Police:
Of course, Ma'am.
If there's nothing else, you should leave, Ma'am.
This place isn't a good place at all.
Misses Balfrost:
Oh no, I can't. I still have a person to find.
Could you tell me about a spurii girl
One that is half-velen and half-laicar?
She is too young to be in the Badhand Gang
And she needs help that I want to give her.
Police:
No, Ma'am. I know nothing of that, Ma'am.
You should leave, Ma'am. It's too much trouble for me.
The Badhand Gang isn't someone you want to mess with, Ma'am.
Misses Balfrost:
I know! They're a deleterious lot.
That's why I can't have a young girl running around with them.
Don't you have some way to help me?
Police:
No, Ma'am. I keep my head down, Ma'am.
Patrolling these parts isn't easy, Ma'am.
You're safe, Ma'am. So please, Ma'am.
Go home and far away.
Thank you, Ma'am. Good day, Ma'am.
I have things I must do.
Misses Balfrost:
Oh he was no help at all.
But I won't surrender. That isn't me, not anymore.
I will continue on, searching far and wide.
I hope the young girl knows that someone is trying to reach her.
Mister Sandberg:
Here I am, here I am.
And one step closer to my goal.
I can see it and feel it now.
With it everyone I will show
Them not to trifle with me!
No one will ever stifle with me.
It will all be mine. Everything I want, everything I deserve
I can be wasteful. I can be plentiful. No more need to conserve.
Hurry now. Hurry now.
Hurry now. Hurry now.
Ah, yes, there you are.
For you, I've gone really far.
Tell me, tell me what I want to know.
Yes, yes, you'll get your payment.
I understand our arrangement.
(Sounds of coins)
Aha. I see.
Ho hum. Of course.
Quite so. Quite right.
Now I have what I want, it will all belong to me.
The hidden way has been revealed, I can reach the source.
The city will lay their eyes upon a brand new sight.
And now to hurry back
Time to plan out our great attack.
(Sounds of running)
Badhand Gang:
We're the Badhand Gang
We're the Badhand Gang
We'll go in robbing even without a plan.
Don't think we're simply just thieves
If it calls for it, we'll also burgle you better believe.
Mister Sandberg:
Alright boys and girl, I have what we need to stand at the top.
Once we get it, we'll go all the way without any stops.
There are ruins and secrets all beneath the city
What we seek is just in there, it's a hidden facility.
All the way in the depth is a most powerful weapon.
So everyone hurry up, make it mine, let's get to stepping!
Have you heard of the city of Terminus
And how grew to be so grand?
Have you heard of the great cataclysm
That turned the ground into a schism
When the world was ending everyone was banding
Together and they all chose one spot
By working together, more often than not
The largest city ever built was hardened against the tide
Of chaos ranging through the countryside
Time has passed causing the land to heal
Memories of tragedies faded as well
Not to mention the strange awakening from somewhere
Down below of people known as the demvir.
Are they machines or something more?
It's all too much to tell, but the tales it brings about are certainly swell.
Now airships roam the skies
To make their deliveries far and wide.
Ships cruise the open oceans
Using magic for their locomotion.
Bring ever more to the grand city of Terminus.
But that's enough on history.
Right now we still have this story.
As Mister Sandberg's plan gets shifted into gear
We're rushing along without a hint of fear.
Well, maybe just a pinch.
Sahin:
Oh, mother, I'm home, however I won't be for long.
I have an important job that needs to be done.
Mother:
Oh my, Sahin, why must you leave?
So lonely am I on this couch.
It is mostly me by myself in this house.
My only friends are these burning passionate drinks.
They take away my pain and my desire to think.
(Sounds of bottles clinking)
Sahin:
Oh, mother, perhaps you've had enough.
You know that if you continue, it will be rough.
Mother:
Oh, Sahin, my darling, you care for me so.
Sometimes I feel like the luckiest mom.
But there are times when I have no will
I just feel like lying there until
The light fades away and leaves me in night
When I no longer have to look upon any sights.
Oh, Sahin, must you leave again so soon?
You've been working so hard, surely you deserve a boon.
Sahin:
Oh, mother, that's not how it works.
You know my boss, he can be a real jerk.
Don't worry, though, it's just a normal job
I'll be back before you know I'm not.
Mother:
Oh I just get so furious when I have time
With nothing around, my thoughts go to your father.
It was like a dream when we met.
Sahin:
So it would seem when you met.
Mother:
Like a dream full of romance.
Sahin:
Under the starry night with a dance.
Mother:
Like a dream when we kissed.
Sahin:
It was a time full of bliss.
Mother:
All of the places that we've seen.
Sahin:
The days were a bright sheen.
Mother:
How wonderful it was when he was with me.
Sahin:
Like a dream, it was good, but too good to be.
Mother:
It was like a dream when we met.
From a faraway place under the sea
He came shining so brightly.
So brave and true from the Pelagium Empire
The words that he spoke, how they did inspire
Sparks of joy, sparks of life
Sparks of happiness within me.
I thought we were meant to be
To be a great family.
Mother:
I thought we would be together from then on
When I told him I was with child.
That's when the news he did spring.
According to him we were nothing more than a fling.
Back in home, back in Pelagium he had someone else.
I was nothing more than a girl that was false.
I was nothing more than a girl that was false.
I was nothing more than a girl that was false.
Sahin:
Oh mother, rest now, I'll return after this.
Don't worry about the mess. I'll tidy it all.
Mister Sandberg:
Come on now, it's time to march.
The sun is down, the streets are dark.
We're heading out for the treasure.
We're heading out for the glory.
Riding down the street heading to for the secret
Facility where they keep the things that no one knows
Where they hide the places that no one goes.
Break it down, tear it down
We are never going to be pushed around.
There! That's the door.
Sahin, make sure that it is no more!
Sahin:
I know, I know. Pick the lock, be sure to take stock
Checking for scouts, checking for traps.
What is this place that stands before me I ask.
No response, it doesn't matter.
All we have to go is go deeper.
Going down in the dark
To the mysterious tunnels in the dark
Hiding in the city in the dark.
Mister Sandberg:
Come on now, it's time to march.
Though the feeling down here may be stark
We're heading out for treasure.
We're heading out for glory.
Going through the tunnels heading for the secret.
In the facility where dangerous things lie
Searching through everything that will soon be mine.
Break it down, tear it down.
We are never going to be pushed around.
Sahin:
So strange what a place.
What could they be keeping within this space?
Dread tingles in my fins.
This is not a place where anyone can win.
Heading deeper to the dark—
(Sound of alarms)
Rumble in the Facility, It's going Down / Knight Falls
Badhand Gang:
We're the Badhand Gang
We're the Badhand Gang
We'll go in bashing because that's the plan.
Don't think we're simply just thieves
Until we get what we want we won't leave.
Shaking it up, shaking it down
You better be wary, we're coming around.
Shake it to the left, shake it to the right
If you want a go, be prepared to fight.
Time to rumble, no more messing around.
Right now, here we are, it is going down.
Step it up, bring the pain,
Step it up, bring the power
Anyone that tries to fight will be turned into a bloody shower.
Who is that coming in? It's a raid!
Alright lads, time to go, don't be afraid.
You know you want it, it's time to crack some skulls.
It's what you signed up for, time to slice.
Arm it up, let them know the price.
Anyone that comes here has to pay.
We won't let them get away.
Badhand Gang:
This is it, no surrender
Trying to go against us will be a big blunder.
Raise your hands, bring the pain by the ton.
With the new power we will have won.
Guards:
Running through our secret halls. Who do they think they are?
Pushing forwards without a care, reaching back in here so far?
Keep the footing. Hold the line, hold them back
Raise your weapons, we are going on the attack.
Sahin:
Wait, are we going on ahead? What about the others?
Mister Sandberg:
Leave them. They'll keep the guards occupied. You stick with me. Who knows if there are any other traps I need you to spring. I mean, disarm. Or doors to unlock. Get moving.
Narrator:
Deeper and deeper they go into a facility mostly holding old, strange machinery. The language written on them is from another time. There are some translation notes around, but no active research is happening. There are lots of things that look like they could be weapons, but Mister Sandberg ignored all of that. He headed straight to the last room, making Sahin unlock it. And inside...
Mister Sandberg:
Ah, there it is. My weapon.
Sahin:
It's a, it's a
It's a panthera leo?
Trapped within a room of glass?
How could that be a weapon?
Taperon:
Thou art new to this hidden land.
Welcome to my lonely stand.
Seeing new faces fills me merrily.
Come approach my gaze more clearly.
Sahin:
He spoke?
Mister Sandberg:
He spoke!
Leave behind that useless shell
Come join me and then we'll tell
The world about our strength!
Make them bow to our mighty sense!
Sahin:
What is that?
Taperon:
Ah, my girl, don't thy knoweth
From the ancient times I did groweth.
Thou should already have my appellation
Now I shall say my description.
Ages past thou knows what hast occurred
Of a disaster that left the lands heavily scarred.
From the energies so violently full of hate
Did they come together to coagulate
Forming the life you now call pravum.
Tempus edax rerum.
To survive within this city of Terminus
Vis nolens exitus.
Sahin:
No. This is strange, this is wrong.
What sort of creature has been bound?
Mister Sandberg:
What stands before us is a vistra.
The power I've been seeking for so long has been found.
Come to me, I will free you.
In return you will be mine.
Do as I say, make people kneel
Power shall be mine to do as I will.
Taperon:
If thou requests this it shall be granted
I shall reside within thou as a phantom.
The power thou wants shall be given
As long as thou releases me from this prison.
Sahin:
What should I do? This isn't right.
If this is unleashed upon the city night
All shall stand under the shadow of fright.
Whether from the monster or the man's might
They shall take all within their sight.
What's that? One final trap I see.
Ah, the way is clear, clear as can be.
(Sound of an explosion)
Narrator:
As one final attempt to stop the vistra from getting loose
A small explosive trap was used.
It was enough to target the cage
As well as anyone standing right at the face.
Lying there, weakened and bleeding
Mister Sandberg crawled onwards, fueled by his seething.
Taperon, however, was no longer interested.
His current form torn and distressed
He needed a healthy body that would allow him to win
There was one nearby, and her name was Sahin.
Sahin:
No, stop, get away from me!
Taperon:
Don't be afraid. Together we can be
Anything thou desires, anything thou wants to be
I shall giveth thee my strength,
And in return thou will giveth me thy body
Sahin andTaperon: Stepping into a new world
One that is unforeseen.
What will lie beyond
If it is you. If it is you and I?
Who I was before, will she be no more
What was once two is now one
Spreading out without bound
To hold the power within our hands
To gain hope from the sky to the land.
Stepping into a new world
One that is unforeseen.
What will lie beyond If it is thou. If it is thou and I?
Mister Sandberg:
Sahin! You traitor! That is mine, he belongs to me.
All of the power, all of the strength!
He shall be mine, give him to me to ease my pain.
Sahin and Taperon: Thou art an insect to be slain
Thou worthless fool, begone!
I have what I desire from now on.
Stepping into a new world
One that is unforeseen.
What will lie beyond
If it is thou. If it is thou and I?
What is this warmth on my hand?
It's blood! It's blood!
No stop, get if off!
Hush now cease thy complaints
We shall have a world without restraints
Who I was before, I will be once more
It will be us that ruins the shore.
It is more than me, but it shall still be I.
To gain power from the land to the sky.
Stepping into a new world
One that is unforeseen.
What will lie beyond
If it is thou. If it is thou and I?
Guards:
The vistra has escaped!
Prepare your blades.
The vistra has escaped!
We must slay.
Stand firm, don't squirm
Bury it down, in the ground
We shall block the way
Make sure it never sees the light of day.
Taperon:
Foolish insects, you art nothing to us
It will be our pleasure to turn you into dust.
None shall bar our way.
We shall reach the light of day.
Stepping into a new world
One that is unforeseen.
What will lie beyond
If it is thou. If it is thou and I?
Narrator:
Free from the clutches of the Badhand Gang
With no one standing in her way
Sahin was free to leave
To learn to control her new power so that she may
Use it in a manner she believes.
That is—
Sahin:
No!
I'm not going anywhere.
Not with this thing in me.
All this death and blood I see.
I can't leave.
Narrator:
What do you mean?
What are you saying.
Do you really think that staying
Is the way to go?
I told the readers this would be a tale
Where the meek shall rise up on the hill.
Sahin:
Looking around at the quiet facility
A secret room underneath the city
Away from the good and decent folk above.
Everything within me is turning cold and rough.
Surrounded by a chasm leading to a great fall.
Who am I? I'm no longer just a thief at all.
Who I want to be? Within this grand city?
It no longer matters at all.
I can feel him gnawing away at me
Taking me further away
From the person I want to be.
Who I want to be? Within this grand city?
There will be no happy end
As I can no longer see who I want to be.
I know what must be done to stop the raging beast.
Sorry mother, I hope you find happiness.
Do your best to get your life out of that mess.
Though I haven't done much good
At least I can prevent this escape.
The pravum is a parasite
So it requires a life to live.
As the only one around
There's nowhere for it to run.
Though no one will ever see
This is who I want to be.
Narrator:
Hey, hold on now, why don't you think this over
It's not a good end to the tale.
Don't you know that it's possible to control
The pravum and remain as yourself.
There's no need to do something drastic
Just stick to it you'll see.
As a vistra, you can be the best you can be.
Sahin:
Maybe only for the scope of your story.
After the tale, where no one can see
When your sentences end and your words are done
You will have something new to move on
I'll be alone with an uncertain fate.
I cannot fight it, I can feel the growing hate.
Taperon:
Thou dareth to fight me?
Who thou wants to be?
It doesn't matter. I have control!
Sahin:
No! I must stop you!
Please you must help.
Within this scope you are king.
From your words truth shall ring.
Narrator:
I guess the introduction was my mistake
If that is what you ask, it is your choice to make.
With strength Sahin always knew she had
Her hand reaches out for a shard of glass.
Thus ends the threat of the facility
Hidden underneath the streets of the city.
Narrator:
When I first told of this tale
I said it would be about triumph and glory.
But it turned out not to be that kind of story.
It's sad that it has turned out this way.
But it's only one of many tales throughout the day
Just part of the omnibus
Within the city of Terminus
Though it was a bitter end
There's no need to cry or shout
I'm sure there are happier tales about
Though that's discounting the massive prison breakout.
It was a real unfortunate incident
Orchestrated by the Astra non Obligant.
Their purpose was that they wanted to supplant
The current ruling power of the government.
But that's a tale that has been told before.
To tell it again would be a real chore.
So let's look forward to something more.
As we move on to new happenings
Filled to the brim with new beginnings
In the Grand City of Terminus!
