This is open to all 9th PCs and NPCs who feel like checking out some awesome anomalies on a big-ass monitor. Shade, Feng will be in charge of leading this checking out the operation as Kaede is off to the Tenth and then off to Taishuus. If you make him hurry you might catch her and then magicz.

You can do a chapter or collab
The anomalies would be large spikes of energy followed by nothing
Enjoy!

“Mari-tan,” the voice of the Ninth’s captain echoed through the main computer room. “Get in contact with Feng and tell him to get out here and help these scientist determine what the source of these anomalies are… I’ve got... other things to do.

“Do you think you can do that?”

“Hai!” was the affectionate reply from Kaede’s trustworthy marionette who, without wasting any longer than needed rushed off to Yin’s office.

***

“Feng-chan!” Mari called, knocking on the boy’s door a few times. “Mama-tan asked you to come to Communications as soon as possible, there are heavy anomalies on the monitors and Mama-tama needs to go and report for duty or something!”

[112]

The bandaged assassin had been enjoying DNA sequencing on a number of projects when the sudden flourish of activity caught him off guard. Of course something comes up for Kaede to not have time. The boy thought bitterly before exiting his lab.

“So Kaede requests my presence using the most perky person she can huh?” There was a bored sigh as Feng stepped beyond the threshold, “Well then let’s lead the way I’ll have to have a talk with our captain about how convenient these calls are.”

[87]

Two minutes ago...

Monitor duty. It was boring at the best of times, but even more so with the captain present. Takashi couldn’t kick back and morph his prosthetic arm into the stringed instrument of the day like he normally would, practicing chords or playing a favorite song while he watched for anomalies on the screen. The thin, shaggy-haired scientist repressed a sigh, taking a gulp of coffee from the oversized red thermos of coffee at his side. Unspillable, kept his drink not only warm but fresh-tasting, and automatically added cream and sugar to the proportions he had programmed in. This, in Takashi’s opinion, had been one of his mentor’s finest inventions.

Too bad the guy had gone down in the line of duty twenty years ago. This being the Ninth Division, the line of duty consisted of a lab accident.

Man, this is like being unseated again. Why the hell do officers have to do this kind of grunt work? Isn’t the damn paperwork enough torture? Takashi reached for his coffee again and paused. There was something weird on the monitor. Long, nimble fingers flew across his keyboard, ordering the system to focus on the frequency in question.

"Holy flying shit!” The line on the monitor spiked, then fell back to background levels. Suddenly aware of the captain’s presence in the room, the Eighth Seat turned slightly to look at her. "Uh, ‘scuse my language, ma’am, but...” He stopped as he saw Kusajishi-taichou giving orders to her animated doll. She’d seen it, then.

Feng? That creepy mummy dude is going to be in charge? Fan-fucking-tastic. Well, presumably the captain knew what she was doing. Takashi turned back to his monitor, pushing his glasses up his nose as he got to work refining and focusing on the signal.

On her way out of the computer main room she nearly bumped into Feng and quickly leaved the man with one final message, “Think you can handle this, vice-captain?”

With one last glance she disappeared in a flash of shunpo, nowhere to be seen, leaving only Mari-tan, Feng and those other, rather odd scientists in her wake.

[57/169]

Heels clicked against the solid cold floor as the emerald scientist entered the scene. "You've got to be kidding me," she said, shaking her head with her eyes closed.

"She left Mr. Bandaids in charge?

"Shouldn't he... it be in the Twelfth somewhere stabbing something?" she posed to no one in particular. Serizawa sighed as she made her way to the over-sized monitor. "Oh hello Mari," she smiled and greeted the automaton.

[72/72]

Morning work shift. It wasn’t a most favorite time when the young scientist needed to work. Before it he walked from the barracks to division main building still half sleepy. Saying hi to Takashi he walked to some monitor and sitting emotionlessly looked at it.

“What the heck,” Hanabusa mumbled when few hours later on the huge monitor started to show up some weird data. Looking around he found captain giving some orders and then going somewhere.

Feng will take care of that. Oh well why I bothering at all, he thought and back to trying get some more info about that strange energy fluctuations.

[105]

“Ohh….” The bandaged man said as his captain disappeared. Just bloody fuckin great. He looked around the room already noticing the looks he was being given. Well time to get to work. He strolled towards a computer screen quickly pulling up the anomaly. He had no familiarity with the occurrence however simply looking at the record of activity before and after the spike.

“Well then, I guess I’m in charge since our lovely captain has managed to find a way to weasel her way out of leading.” Feng said passing his gunmetal eye across the room. “Now then, business time. “ A bandaged arm shot out in the direction of the middle of the room. “There will be two teams going on. People to the right of my arm,” he motioned to avoid confusion, “will be looking as far back as we have records for any abnormalities check them against this spike and report to me immediately if we have a similarity.

“The other half of you will keep watch on the current readings from Hueco Mundo and the human would. Should activity spike in any way I want to know immediately even above average hollow emergences I want to know. Do I make myself clear? And are there any questions?” The new vice captain said keeping his voice as steady as he could. Why did she put me in charge so early especially when they all despise me…

[239/326]

Hey!
Sorry I took so long, I began writing this turn in the morning, then took it to college, kept on writing it for about five minutes, waited for history class to end and THEN I finished it xD

A lone red haired goddess walked down a hallway, happily humming a song with her eyes closed. The reason for her good mood was that she had just put the last details in his report about the recent formation of large groups of hollow. She was supposed to have finished her work last night, but certain complications had slowed her progress; these complications being her falling asleep on her desk and drooling all over her notes. Fortunately, another reaper who was passing by woke her up next morning, so she was able to finish her work in time. It certainly could have gone better, but at least she wasn't tired. Atsuko was heading for the kitchen, hoping to get some breakfast, when something caught her attention.

"Holy flying shit!"

Atsuko's head turned to find the source of the shout. As hungry as she was, someone had found something interesting enough to yell like that, and she had to know what it was. The goddess ran back to where she came from, until she could hear the same voice again. Just as she took a left turn, she saw someone go into a room. The voice clearly came from within that room, so Atsuko leaned against the door to listen. Unfortunately, since she was used to sliding doors, she didn't notice the fact that that one was a swing door. The door oppened under her weight and she fell to the floor, landing on her face.

"Ow..." Atsuko said as she tried to get back on her feet.

[257/257]

That's just wonderful. First the bandage-looking man is in charge, now bullshit going on elsewhere. The leggy scientist groaned in disappointment as she placed her hands inside her clean coat pocket. The long awaited projects that she was looking forward to do would have to be on hold -- for now.

"I have none," Sayuri said to the vice-captain. "I'm going the controls and find those abnormal readings. For those that will be coming helping me, keep your eyes sharp." After the warning, the Sixth Seat walked past Feng and made her way to the controls and began to her careful work in monitoring.

[104]

“Why is there so much yelling going on?” Hakan grumbled to himself as he rubbed his eyes. He had fallen asleep in his desk chair twenty minutes ago and had barely noticed the new signs on the monitor. Deciding that it couldn’t be worse than another giant fucking hollow bait released on earth, he closed his eyes again and nestled his head into his arms. To no one in particular, Hakan called, “Wake me up when we actually have to do something.”

---

Apphia would’ve preferred to look at the current readings, but when she saw that Sayuri was attempting (without invitation) to rein leadership of that group -- conceited woman, as usual -- Apphia was glad that she was on the archiving side.

Turning to Feng, she suggested, “Fukutaichou, how should we organize our archive search? Looking randomly through millennia of records is bound to prove fruitless. I suggest subdividing us into period groups, and then limiting our query to specific events.”

[163]

Thank goodness, Takashi was in the monitoring group. Other scientists may consider this kind of work tedious, but he was an expert in energy flows and fluctuations. Sound, light, reiatsu, all of it was energy and all of it could be monitored and manipulated in similar ways. He turned halfway and nodded to the bandaged vice-captain. "Clear as crystal, sir.”

As he turned back to his work, Takashi heard someone grumble ‘Wake me up...’. The black-haired man swiveled around in his chair to see someone put his head down on his desk. Sleeping in the monitoring room? This may be boring, but that’s no excuse for falling down on the job! He rolled his chair over to the sleeper.

A bony elbow jabbed the sleepy shinigami in the ribs. "Hey man, if I gotta work so do you! Get your ass in gear and start helping us figure out what kind of shit this is and where said shit is coming from.” With one last glare at Hakan, Takashi rolled his swivel chair back to his station and took another drink of coffee. Thus fortified, he turned to his keyboard and got back to work, touch-typing as he watched the screen.

During the usual routine check of spiritual abnormalities in the monitor-ridden room of the Ninth Division it was usually common for the members of the group in charge of watching these eye-killing to take turns fetching beverages for each other (that is, unless there was a new recruit that could be bossed around). Unfortunately for Nakamura, it was his turn to do the fetching. Carrying a thin metal tray laden with non-descript ceramic mugs filled to the brim with steaming liquid the perpetually bored scientist meandered down the bare hallways of the Research Bureau, resisting the rather inviting urge to just leave for the day. Nothing had happened all day, aside from the usual Hollow shenanigans that hardly qualified as interesting. Nothing ever happened in that dull, dull monitoring room.

The black-haired scientist happened back into the room moments after things began their shift from "boring as hell" to "oh shit something's happening". People were moving about the room, asking questions and following the orders given by the new Vice-Captain. Even Nakamura had trouble wrapping his mind around this guy at first. It was common for the majority of the Ninth Division to have some weird physical trait that set them apart from everyone else, so why was a mummy any different? Saika had horns; adding a mummy is no big deal.

Why not just add a few vampires and call it a party?

Groups were decided just as the current drink-fetcher returned to the room, and since the door was on the side designated to the "watchers", Nakamura was gifted with the job he spent every fucking day doing: watching the screens. At least it didn't require much work, even if it did do a number on the eyes. Hell, it was better than going through years of old files. A cup of coffee in his right hand, Nakamura pulled up a rolling chair and situated himself in the less-than-satisfactory leather seat. After some semblance of comfort was achieved the sleep-deprived scientist swiveled up to the nearest monitor and began watching.

[342/342]

Sorry I'm late, but I just sort'a jumped in. FOR THE RECORD, I wrote this turn before I read Lin's. And yes, I do see the similarities >__>;

His ribs were sore. Ouch. Hakan raised one black iris at the loud numbnuts and grunted, “Listen, schmuck… There are about a dozen of us per team -- give or take one or two. That makes about twenty-four eyes. Yeah, yeah… One-Eyed Susan’s down one. But Steve has an extra one on his tongue.”

With one hand lazily pointing at the screen, the blonde exasperated, “Each monitor can cover a maximum area of one-fifth a given realm. We’re looking at two realms. That means we need ten people. And since we’re the nerd division, I’m assuming that each of us is capable of keeping his or her eyes open and reading a few signals. Ergo, backups aren’t necessary.”

He then tucked his hand back under his other arm to prepare for naptime. “Now buddy… I’m gonna be that unnecessary backup. So you can get to work while I chill. Good night.”

Dropping his head into his arms and closing his eyes, Hakan mumbled under his breath, “Little shit…”

[168/331]

Since nobody seemed to notice her embarrassing entrance, Atsuko could easily observe everything that was happening from the safety of the small spot between the wall and a reaper. Unfortunately, that reaper's slumber was interrupted by another one. Needles to say, he wasn't amused. Still, that short exchange gave Atsuko something to think about. Not about their work; so far it was just watching the screens and take notes; that was pretty much covered by the others. It was about what she was doing, which was, well, nothing really. She thought of asking somebody, but she wasn't sure who should she ask. The guy who was closest to him probably wouldn't want to be awakened again. The guy with the bandages seemed to know what he was doing, but he was way too creepy for Atsuko. Then, her eyes stopped on the guy with the large red thermos. Smiling, she walked out of her corner and approached him.

"Excuse me," Atsuko spoke to the death god who was previously referred to as Little Shit. "Hi, my name is Atsuko. You said there was work to be done, right? Well, as that guy said, if we all watch the monitors it wouldn't be very helpful; besides, you know, boring. So… I guess what I'm trying to say is, do you need me to do anything?"

[224/481]

Yasutaka entered his division on a whim, barely awake. The scientist had not gotten enough sleep in a few days, as the re-opening of the division had him sorting all sorts of information from day to night. He walked inside, looking for his captain all over the room. He could not get sight of her and immediately walked up to the first person he saw. A bandaged man, who seemed to keep everything in check stood in front of the man. He fixed his glasses as they were falling off.

"Who’s in charge here?” he asked, looking for help and authority. The room seemed quite hectic, and he felt that if there was something he could do, he should simply do it, no questions asked. He looked up at the bandage-covered man for a second and looked back at the division members.

"And what can a simple soul like me do?”

[151/151]

Sayuri paid no mind the noisy surroundings as she touch-typed with such swift fervor, keeping her eye on potential activity. Monitors began to zoom inward as the redhead wanted to stay on top of her game and show the new scientists thing or two. People around her continued their unnecessary chatter, which aggravated her a lot. On her monitors, nothing abnormal popped from her monitors, but the time to slack off was nil.

"Anything from your monitors, people?" she said, moving her delicate fingers fast as if she was a speedy typewriter. "I don't see anything on mine yet."

[99/203]

“I suppose you have a point about the time span…” Feng admitted, thinking it over it did seem counter productive to have the scour the entire records if they would all start at one and move though them linearly. “Alright so then research group pair up, each pair goes through ten years of records starting at the back right and move down and up the rows of computers. Make this snappy.” All around him the bandaged assassin saw the researchers diligently working.

Well most of them anyway. It happened in a flash, the bandaged man shunpoed from his current position next to one of the people in the corner chatting away. “I was kind enough to ignore your rather loud entrance. Unless you get to work, my sword will aquaint itself with your face after the floor has already had the pleasure do I make myself clear?” He whispered into one of the researcher’s ears. Before she could turn Feng was already back at his original position. “We have plenty of monitor watchers, I guess you should busy yourself elsewhere?” The former assassin said with a shrug.

He really had no clue how to help these people part of him wanted to mount a group into Hueco Mundo, though he knew that would never happen. Not yet.If he had learned anything about Soul Society in the past few centuries it was that they never moved until it was too late to prevent anything. “Pick messengers I want all the divisions and the judges informed of the spike in activity we picked up. And that we’re trying to get to the bottom of it.” When shit inevitably hit the fan Feng did not want to be one of the people splattered.

[290/616]

Blex he's threatening you, 2nd half of the turn is directed at Drag

"For someone whose mouth has been bound, he sure does bark a lot of orders," Serizawa mumbled as she gazed at the glowing computer monitor. Keys clacked as the emerald scientist typed away on the nearby keyboard.

Serizawa glanced at Hakan, whose head was down on a desk. Perhaps the wrapped man did not see him, or Hakan simply did not care. Either way the Tenth Seat could not help but smile at the hunk.

[75/147]

Nakamura took another long, noisy sip from the pungent coffee housed in the mug in his right hand. Other than the occasional typing of formulas and coordinates to rotate the area he was watching (which he did with his left hand), and subsequently establish a more thorough watch of his designated area, the scientist was doing almost nothing. He wanted to join the other guy who had managed to fall asleep despite all the click-clacking of keyboards, but getting jabbed in the ribs didn't look comfortable, and the more people that passed out the less there would be watching the monitors. King Tut probably didn't want two people sleeping on the job.

"I hope that means you're willing to rotate who gets to sleep," commented the scientist lazily before taking another sip of coffee, moments after Feng returned to the center of the chaos. "A bunch of sleep-deprived nerds staring at screens is a recipe for disaster,” he continued dryly, “Especially since the Vice-Captain has decided to begin issuing death-threats.

"And no, I haven't seen anything even remotely out of the ordinary," Nakamura said in response to the woman who was typing furiously, without removing his bag-ridden eyes from the screen. "Every influx of spiritual activity is minor and to be expected; like a Hollow appearing somewhere in the Human World." He paused to sip more coffee.

"In fact, I'm pretty disappointed that something interesting hasn't happened yet."

[238/580]

"Vice-captain!?" she recited in shock, her voice echoed off the solid mechanical walls. "I heard he was in charge, but I did not hear anything about a new vice-captain. What happened to Aoede?

"Where was I for this announcement? And furthermore, where did he," she darted a finger toward the bandaged life-form, "come from?"
