World Penetration Gate opened silently in middle of the street. After a moment from it flied out hell butterfly, followed by the person clothed in a black robes and sword almost as long as her. Young medic waited till the passage behind her doesn’t disappear. Leaving a low sigh of relief adjusted her clothes and started walking ahead.
“Where could be that plus?” she said to herself. At the last Anya moment moved aside to not walk into some human.
“Watch how you walking?” she yelled after him but he didn’t react.
“Crap. He can’t see me after all,” said to herself Kumiho sitting on the near bench next to some school.
Nathaniel had been enjoying a relaxing coffee -- man did he need one after a full day of job hunting -- and minding his own business as he walked to yet another interview when he heard the shout. On reflex he looked up and checked his footing, looking around for who had called the warning and was instantly disturbed by the lack of reaction from the other pedestrians on the crowded Tokyo street.
That could mean only one thing.
Well it could mean two, but Nathaniel instantly discarded the idea that a hollow would call out a warning to something. So that meant it was a shinigami. Not. A. Good. Thing. Still unsure what the shinigami thought of Quincy following the recent events in the city, Nathaniel didn't know what to do. He cast his senses outward trying to get a feel for the shinigami and what he felt was reassuring. They weren't that strong, maybe he could scare them off.
So, without further thought, he released his power and a silent thundering filled the area as his alien energy charged the air with intangible electricity.
Thinking about what to do now Anya felt some pulse of the reiatsu near. Concentrating on locating someone with an above than average spiritual power sensed many of such peoples in school behind her and one somewhere else but not too much.
Looks like some human just used his powers, thought to herself relaxing.
I hope it isn’t one of those powered humans that first attack and then ask questions. . .
She wasn't scared off: that was bad. She didn't seem to want to kill him either though: that was good. Confused, Nathaniel wondered what to do. His choices were increased by the fact that she did not seem to reconize that he was a quincy...but that only meant so much. Part of him, the part that was just an average human, not used to the workings of the spiritual community wanted to talk to her to find out what was going on. The other part, the Quincy part, wanted to draw his bow and shoot her into oblivion.
Asking questions would be more civil and useful he decided.
"So," he said, "what brings you here?"
Sorry for the crap post. On my phone and short of ideas.
When Anya was thinking how she would find that plus, some human stopped right before her and then asked. For a moment she thought it was directed to someone else but his sight was fixed on the young medic. Kumiho looked at him examining for top to toe. Brown eyes, a little scruffy beard, rather tall as for a human. Dressed in casual clothes with only odd part been toque on his head. It didn’t fit quite well with the rest of his wardrobe.
He’s a little bit unusual human. And like it would be something normal he just asks me, when most of the people around even didn’t see me, what I’m doing here. Almost like he want to ask about the weather.
“O my. You almost scared me. Not everyone can see me so easily,” Anya replied to his question.
“I just sit here for a while. And what brings you here? Or it’s just pure coincidence that you was around?”
RIGHT Sorry about the ages and ages it's taken me to write this turn. I've been distracted and without a computer mostly.
Nathaniel cocked a disbelieving eyebrow at the young woman before him and snorted quietly. Did she really think he'd be fooled by the ignorance act? Please...after the events that had just transpired and the ridiculous actions of his sister and that Vincent person the young Quincy scientist expected every Shinigami to be briefed on how to identify a Quincy.
But maybe that wasn't the case. She didn't seem particularly skilled or experienced to Nathaniel's eye. Perhaps she was new. Perhaps she was stupid. Perhaps she was so brilliant as to have identified him from Soul Society, actually be part of an extremist dissident faction of the shinigami and planned this whole encounter to capture and then immolate him as an example.
Nate... he thought to himself, Don't be retarded. Just play her game for now.
Realizing that was the best course of action he shoved his hands into his pockets and scowled at the girl.
"Pure coincidence actually. I was -- I am on my way to a job interview. I heard your shout and looked up and found you. Now please, are you really so surprised that I can see you, that I know what you are? I think I made it abundantly clear what I was when I released my reiatsu."
Chewing his lip thoughtfully, Nathaniel decided to push the conversation one step further and see what happened...going on the assumption that she knew what he really was and was not.
"The question is," he continued smoothly inspecting his nails, the silver glint of his cross visible in the bright sunlight on his wrist, "what are you going to do about it?"
What a niccce jewel he have, hissed quietly the spirit at the back of her head.
What do you mean? Anya asked interested by her partner comment.
O my. SSSometimesss you’re a really cccluelessss perssson. Look at hisss wrissst, a snake lady pointed out hanging on his arm a silver cross.
Looks like I he now treat me as someone truly stupid…
“Ehhh. Those children’s today. Everyone wants to be superhero now and what is funnier,” Kumiho looked behind at the school, “more and more of them,” now she was looking again at the man before her, “actually get some powers.”
She tilted slightly her head.
“So it that was you who make that power spike earlier. It’s an awkward way of the power display. And what if it will attract some unneeded attention? Will you try to throw at them that cross?” she tilted head on the other side waiting for his reaction.
