Sai walked out onto the balcony overlooking the mountain range. The day was crisp and cold, had he not been fully clothed he would have shivered in the wind that was blowing from the northeast. The peaks and canyons of the grassy mountain side was strewn out before him; he was on the wrong side of the house, but on a cloudless day like this, the edges of the city surrounding Seireitei could be seen far off in the distance.

He looked down at his unfamiliar hands and sighed. He could only surmise that his body had been destroyed back after his battle. It seemed that he had been placed into a gigai...one that was rather unseemly for his taste. He was used to being compact and having relatively short black hair. Having awoken to a body that was much larger in frame and having blonde hair was odd enough, much less looking into a mirror and seeing glowing green eyes staring back at you. Sai had resigned worrying about it to futility though. It was enough to be back in Soul Society again, the form didn't matter. What bothered him were the bandages that were wrapping his entire body from toes to neck. The people that wrapped him must have thought he wouldn't mind feeling stiff as a rock when he moved.

Sai wasn't sure how long it had been since he had been returned to a body. Shortly after being revived, he had slipped into unconsciousness. After waking up the second time, he discovered that he was in a quaint little cottage that rested on the slope of a mountain far to the north of the city. The house was deserted save for him, yet it was kept spotlessly clean and it had a large supply of food for him. Whoever had left him there didn't show signs of coming back anytime soon...and far be it for him to refuse the hospitality of someone who wanted to keep him well.

The only evidence that the people that revived him would contact him was the note that he had discovered lying atop the bedside table.

I'm sure you have a lot of questions my friend, rest assured that I will come back soon. Please leave the bandages on your body, they will clean themselves, so you needn't worry about keeping them fresh. Relax and enjoy the view.

It had been left unsigned, but he wasn't in a position to worry about anything. He had lost his life on the battlefield of Seireitei when he had been fighting Emptybones...he could almost feel the cold steel still plunged through his chest. No, if the people that had brought him back had wanted to do anything to him, they had already had ample time. Besides, why bring someone back from the dead only to kill them right away? If anything was going to happen to him, it was going to happen while he was awake and ready for it. That was the most troubling problem though.

Immediately after awakening and gaining his movement back, Sai tried to begin training again, only to discover that none of his power remained. He had been a captain of the Gotei 13, why would he suddenly be weaker then an academy student!? It didn't make any sense to him when he tried to rationalize it. Once again, all he had were educated guesses. Upon dying, most of his power was probably being converted into energy in order to keep his consciousness from dissipating into the ether. It was a little more then annoying to Sai to have gained Bankai and awake to find out that he could no longer call his zanpakutou. What was he do to for a weapon?

His musings were cut short quickly upon seeing a man approach the little cottage from the west side, on the balcony that he was standing. It was the man he saw when he had awoken. A man that had a small frame, appeared as if he were in his 50's, and wearing a smile on his face that looked like it had been drawn on. He kept smiling and walking closer to the balcony until he was standing directly under it.

"Hello there, Saiyoisen," he said in a tone that Sai couldn't tell was friendly or creepy, "I imagine you have a few questions for me to answer don't you?"

Sai looked down upon the man with a blank expression on his face, "I imagine I do."

"Well then, lets have a little chat," he said with the smile that never left his mouth.
