Hey everyone,
I'm posting this mainly for my own benefit, in an attempt to hold myself accountable. It's difficult to describe, but I feel like the past year, year-and-a-half, I've almost been in the writing equivalent of physical therapy. It's been small steps, but I had to start with exercising the ability to read again, then exercising my ability to write again. Combinations of grief, depression, anxiety, and even ADHD kind of left me in a position where I could neither read nor write. With the help of a new doctor, new medication and such, throughout 2025 I ended up reading 16 published novels, an unpublished/first draft copy of another, after not finishing a single novel in the better part of two years prior. Feels good.
Anyway, the next step is getting writing again. I have already started writing again but without any real consistency, so it got me thinking for 2026, I'll adopt the classic: consecutive bonus. So here's my resolution: for every week of 2026, I will write and post at least 1000 words' worth of completed writing.
I don't have any illusions that this will bring the RP back to life, but as said above, I do hope to get to write with others again. If anyone else would like to join me in the challenge, I welcome it.
May as well make a discussion on it, though: do any of you have any resolutions for 2026 you want to share? Fitness goals, writing goals, gaming goals, whatever? Aside from the writing, I also have a goal to walk or run at least 1 mile every day.
Here's to a 2026 that will be better than 2025.

- There's no 'points' nor penalties associated with it, this is simply to keep myself accountable.
- Each week ends Saturday at midnight PST (or Sunday at 3 AM EST). I'm moving the timezone because of my work hours.
- I might shoot for Midnight EST regardless, I'm just giving myself a small handicap.
- Not all writing must be PT-related, but it will be posted here on the forum in one way or another.
- No rollovers. If I write 5000 words one week, I still need to write 1000 the next week.
- I only expect to write for myself, but I would love to be able to write some collabs with some of you all. If I do, the posted piece must still be at least 1000 words per writer, or I must individually contribute at least 1000 words, depending on whether we count total wordcount or separate.
- If I don't post it, it doesn't count.
- If I post an incomplete work in progress, it doesn't count.
