Seamus
Voodoo Gnomes
Seamus Kelly
Unseated, 5th Division
AIM: nateayerss
Name: Seamus Kelly
Age: Has the physical appearance of a 23 year-old, chronologically he is closer to 40 years.
Physical: Standing about 5'8" tall with square shoulders and powerful arms, Seamus is sturdy and compact. His eyes are a deep green and more often than not they're lit with humor and excitement. His hair, a point of pride, is a medium shade of brown and is always unruly; whatever discipline Seamus tries to impose upon his hair is only temporary as strands will eventually stand back up on end, sticking out in every direction. His face has distinct and somewhat sharp lines, covered with a smattering of freckles (a trace of childhood that wishes dearly to be rid of). Not too concerned with his outward appearance, Seamus has been known to forget to shave for days on end, resulting in him growing a rather patchy and scruffy beard. Only when it becomes too itchy to bear is he reminded that he should probably remove it.
Personality: Having not really matured past the point of his physical age, Seamus is somewhat of a general bro. Slightly clueless, always gung-ho, always the first to bust out beer at the slightest bit of an excuse, he's always planning 'the next great adventure' with his friends, always "bro, do you remember that one time we..." before drifting off in thought about the amazing (and amazingly stupid) times had with a dreamy look on his face. Not one to want to be left out, Seamus has a terrible habit of jumping into the middle of conversations even if he has nothing to do with them. If he hears a word that he recognizes, or hears something that he knows something about, or even if it just sounds interesting, he'll have something to say; often completely misunderstanding the situation and making some horrible faux pas.
At the end of the day, however, Seamus is a good guy. Friendly, cheerful and loyal to his friends to a fault--family is very important to him, since he's lost his own family following his death, Seamus has built himself a new family of friends that he's made since coming to the Soul Society. Hopeless with women he tries and tries again to get their attention but fails with almost a 100% rate. He's dependable enough, when it comes to it. If something needs doing, all it takes is a look from a friend or a superior, and the thing would get done.
Biography: Like so many other souls, a younger Seamus woke up one day to find himself in a busy and crowded district of Rukongai. Alone and somewhat afraid, though he tried not to show it, the young man spent some time wandering from district to district. Always likable, friendly and good-natured, it was easy for him to make friends among the other souls new to Soul Society. He was able to see that they too were scared and confused as he was; using that he managed to build a close group of friends that slowly started to scratch out a life for themselves in the dust of the Rukongai.
They took odd jobs, fixing things, running messages for people, guarding market stalls--whatever they could do to make enough money to buy food and supplies. As time went on though, Seamus and his group of friends started to notice that they weren't quite the same as others. They were just a bit faster, a bit stronger and able to see things that others couldn't; at first they paid it no mind, but when they discovered that they could actually use this power to run and jump, creates lights in the dark and all manner of other oddities Seamus began to wonder just what was going on. As fate would have it though, it wasn't long before he got his answer.
In the summer of his third year in the Rukongai, Seamus ran into a shinigami. Clad all in black, the person made an imposing image but he stood his ground and listened to what the man had to say. It turned out that he had been dispatched from the Academy after hearing reports of a group of souls with fledgling powers running odd jobs for citizens. Two days later had Seamus and his friends attending classes at the shinigami academy. Life became easier, they no long had to work endlessly, food was readily available and the young Seamus and his friends took the opportunity to drink as much as possible, and be as wild as possible.
They tried just hard enough to get by, never failing but never really being exceptional across the board and eventually graduated into the lowest ranks of the Gotei 13 where nothing much was expected to come of them...they were, however, split up into different divisions. Seamus suspected that the teachers feared what might become of any single division that was forced to contend with all of them and set it up this way. However, that's how he found himself part of the Fifth, Battlefield Prep and Traps...wildly unprepared for what the actual life of a shinigami had in store.
