Ignis also looked towards Aeria with a concerned expression when the spurii spoke out about the prince's attitude. The exchange happened too quickly for the half-mortal to formulate a reply and interject with her opinion. Biting words were exchanged and her friend departed all before the enlil could fully understand each side's perspective. She watched Aeria and the kinner exit the area with a frown, staring in the empty space after them for a few moments.

When she turned around, Ignis caught Deni's eye for a moment. It was a brief point of silent communication where both parties realized there wasn't anything they could do to help Aeria for now.

Once the worst of the bruising and cuts on Red had faded away, Amicus lowered his hands and returned to Ignis' side. The enlil bent to scoop up her companion, holding him against her shoulder. The mons infans used the position to climb onto her and support himself without any help.

The avian woman approached the rest of the crowd and Grace, to check over the rest of the group for any major injuries. She was at a loss for how to respond to the confusion that had unfolded. The miscommunication about why they had come to the palace, the prince's bitterness, the betrayal, and the mysterious origins of an inter-racial conflict were too confusing for Ignis to attempt to interpret on her own. Never had her own life been connected to such struggles before becoming half mortal. Even that experience was likely of limited use here. Natum's order of things did not seem to be what governed the relationships at stake here.

"I think that's a good idea," Ignis added, giving verbal support to Deni's suggestion. "Getting to the bottom of this is going to take some time and some information that none of us seem to have at the moment. Perhaps some time to recover and cool our heads is in order. "

Despite having such brief participation in the fight that had broken out earlier, Ignis felt very tired as though an invisible weight pressed upon her. The weight of entering another large-scale conflict combined with her own more personal relationship problems.

Aelflead met the look the rogue shot her with a look of indigence and black smoke curled around her face again as another pair of jets shot out of her nose.

"I agree with you!" She bit at the couple. "I'm saying we've all had smoke blown up our asses- " She said, then looked between them Keydis, Red, and Grace before finally letting her gaze fall on the exit Aeria and Dante had taken out of the room just moments ago and paused for a moment, her long ears dipping down to brush against her bare shoulders.

"But excuse me for being pis-incensed, that a quartet of children were just fu-traumatized while their elder siblings and every other adult sits here with no answers for why, because everyone brought here has been lied to!" Aelflead finished, her hands now curled into fists and heat radiating off of her body in waves.

Grace considered Aelflead for a moment before nodding solemnly, deciding that it was a matter to be left alone for the moment. "We shall reconvene in the morning and determine what is the best course of action for the future. We would greatly appreciate your patience," she added, placing a hand to her breast, "and we shall endeavor to make sure that your kindness is repaid."

She lowered her head with a quiet sigh. "You have witnessed the empire at its worst, we fear. Be assured that this is not representative of the empire or its leaders."

The soldiers who remained with them began escorting the group back to the carriages, to return to the palace above the water. Grace and Cordatus remained behind, with the princess quickly leading her younger sibling to where their father was being tended to by the medics.

Deep below, the eldest prince found himself in front of a reinforced cell door, flanked by half a dozen of his finest men on either side. He passed his sword over to the man at his right before he signaled for the door to be opened. Unarmed, he entered, preparing to speak with the conduit one on one, to parlay, if possible.

The door was sealed behind him.
