Six months down the line, and finally I catch up to this. Because of the long gap, I wanted to refresh my memory on some of the details by reading the previous chapters. It's good to get back into Micali's story. A very emotionally damaging story, of course.
This chapter was all about the inner turmoil, and you did a masterful job of emphasizing that side of the story while playing out the external portions at a steady pace, building the tension without getting lost in purple prose. The feelings and emotions on display were also a believable degree of discordant, pitting her long-standing grudge against her newfound appreciation for life.
I appreciate that Micali, while struggling with the thought that nothing she does can undo what happened already, still ultimately exacts her revenge. It's a dark moment for her, but I feel like it's earned.
