I Am Future is an isometric survival game taking place mainly on the rooftops of a flooded Earth. Rather than a generic person, you are Robin, a specific figure within the world. You awaken when your cryopod breaks down and must survive. There is a questline to follow, and through that, you may discover more about the world and what happened.

The Cozy part of the title is pretty decent. For a survival game, it is more relaxed. The main threat are electrosites, and they attack plants, not you. There are also giant flowers that spawn the electrosites, but they don’t move. So you are never in any direct danger, though you may starve if they eat all your crops. There are game options to further reduce the difficulty if you want.

The main gameplay loop is getting enough food, harvesting the many resources from around the roofs, building and upgrading your base and then doing it again with better tech. As you upgrade tools, you can access more of the roof. And for a fun twist, the tools are all in your robotic arm as a sort of swiss-army knife of stuff. Drills? Saws? Hammers? All there.

There are other ways to get materials as you’ll unlock expeditions to far off rooftops. You can’t visit there in person, but you can send a drone over to collect things, or buy materials from the vendors out there. You can also make helper drones. They work well enough, especially when you get a small army of them rolling around. There are things they can’t do, though, such as fishing, harvesting crops, or foraging. Also, getting the collector drones to only collect certain things requires a bit of setup. You can target the drones to certain containers that only take certain items, but when that container is full, you’ll need to empty that container or build more. You can’t set the drone to auto-fill all containers of a certain type.

You can play the game with either the keyboard and mouse, or the game controller. Neither control scheme is totally comfortable, though I prefer the controller. There are situations where the mouse is better. Also, I didn’t get much into the decorating part of the game. There are lots of furniture you can make, but I did start rushing through the later parts of the game.
Moving furniture is a big hassle. Unless I am missing something, you can only move one thing at a time, and you must physically walk between the two points. If you want to move a bunch of things from one end of the map to another, it’s going to take a while, especially. Also, there doesn’t seem to be a way to erase items, so unless you can find a way to use them, they’ll either be taking up space in your inventory or sitting out in the world.

I Am Future is a simple survival game that doesn’t try to do too much. It has familiar mechanics without much of a twist. There is a story in the game with a set end goal. You can spend a lot of time there cleaning up the roofs and doing some decorating, though I had other things to move on to.
