Adele entered the familiar jungle that was the rain forest biodome. The environment seemed to have recovered amazingly quickly from her fight against Annika. There was barely any sign of the fires she and the dragon had caused, though parts of the canopy did look a little thin. Insects buzzed, birds chirped, and somewhere, hidden in the foliage, monkeys made odd noises. Deeply inhaling the muggy air of the tropical forest, the nekogami reminisced a bit. While she didn't expect to see any dragons this fight, the Mystic hoped to have just as much fun even without giant fire breathing lizards or huge wasps.

The Tenth Seat was dressed in a sleeveless olive green shirt with darker green accents made from breathable material that would supposedly keep her cool and dry. Her legs were covered by fitted, dark green bike shorts made of similar material. On her left hip hung her zanpakuto, Crescendo. Adele was ready to fight. Although she was eager to spar, the feline shinigami was also eager to see how strong Ren was and if Hikaru had grown any. Would Hikaru and Ren work together to defeat her or would they stumble over each other, handing the nekogami an easy victory?

The catlike Mystic was about to find out. "Good to see you both!" She greeted them energetically, a relaxed smile on her lips. An odd glint, however, was present in her grey eyes.

In a nice, safe, air conditioned location, Tia, Zechariah, and Midnight watched the combatants on a screen. "Ooh, this is so exciting!" The ravenette of the group squirmed with anticipation. She'd get to see her Onee-chan in battle and watch Hika-teme get beat at the same time! How exciting.

"Nee-chan got strong enough to take on two opponents at once this quickly?" The afrosoul asked, green eyes watching the monitor with a hint of concern.

"Don't doubt Nee-chan, you worry wart! Ada-nee can do anything!" Tia pumped her fist in the air. The little fire cracker continued, "She's so strong, couldn't you feel it? When she made that weird aura when we were starting to bug her when we were at the tea house it was stronger than it ever was before she was a shinigami. Now we get to see her in action!"

"I don't doubt her, Tia," Zechariah stuck out his tongue. "Besides, we don't know how strong Ren-san is."

"Nonsense! Onee-chan is the strongest out of all three of them!" The pale girl protested, fire shining in her brown eyes.

"Maybe you should be in the Blitzkrieg Strike Unit," the civilian boy joked, a smug little smile making its way across his lips. "You're certainly fiery enough. You'd go 'boom' and win the battle."

"Oi! Oi!" Tia smacked her brother, "Don't make fun of me!"

"Silence!" Midnight snapped in Cat, glaring at his companion's litter-mates. "You're too noisy."

"Eh?" The ravenette tilted her head.

"He means you're a loudmouth, little, firecracker," Zechariah snickered. More bickering ensued. Midnight put his paws over his ears and groaned. Troublesome.

The vampire reaper that was Ren Tegishahara walked through the foliage in the rainforest, wearing clothing that showed her true form. Not even Koutaizumai was on her form, for once. The illusions usually casted by Ren were forgone among her friends, exchanged instead for normal clothing Nevada said was 'popular' in culture nowadays. Sadly, Ren felt stupid wearing it. A simple shirt that bore short sleeves and showed Ren's midriff, a pair of shorts that honestly seemed too short to enjoy and find comfort in and a simple string that held the sheath for Kyuketsuki.

"It's good to see you too, Adele-chan," she turned to her side to see the younger Hikaru, smiling faintly at him, "You as well, Hikaru-kun." Ren turned to Adele, running ever so casually to her to give the nekogami a hug. When she had her friend in an embrace, she simply whispered to her. "I missed you at my fight before. I'm sorry I didn't get to say hi." She smiled softly, facing Adele after whispering.

After Ren let go of Adele, she faded from her position in a flashstep, appearing a considerable distance away from their opponent. She turned to Hikaru, smiling faintly. Then she called out between the two of her friends, unsheathing the wakizashi on her shoulder. "No holding back, okay Adele-chan? Hikaru-kun? It'd be disrespectful to between friends!"

She looked to Hikaru, smiling softly. "Are you ready to go against our friend?"

Hikaru had been quietly waiting as Ren arrived, he wanted to greet his friend traditionally, though he couldn't figure out a way to do so without giving away his position, so he figured a small wave and whisper would suffice. "Hey Ren-chaa-Aw, c'mon!?' His greeting quickly turned into a groan as he looked on and noticed his friend had surpassed him, as he tried to observe the flash-step, Damn it, now she's doing it too?

You'd be right there with her if you weren't so busy traipsing around with that blonde, and Captain Blackbeard. His blade responded bitterly.

A the blonde's name is Nevada, and she's Ren's sister. B, Ole is not a pirate, he's a monk, and he's cool, the raven-haired boy grumbled, So don't be an ass, you almost got us killed in that fight with Ren because of your rudeness. After reprimanding his blade, the boy yelped in surprise and pain when his hand brushed something sharp. "Owch!" upon closer inspection he discovered it was a twig, like so many other ones in the dark, densely packed forest.

"Hmm..." I like twigs, lets see how much Adele likes it...

Satoru almost thought he was done with the tournament. After his final defeat at the hands of Kyuto Tounyuu and the treatment of his wounds, he had opened the Senkaimon to return to his home dimension... but then the Fourth Seat caught wind of a three-way fight between some names he knew incredibly well. It didn't matter what sort of injuries he sustained, what sort of mental trauma had been dealt to him, or what emotional turmoil raged in his head; there was no way on Earth or in Soul Society that he would miss this contest between all three of his apprentices. While it did irk him that he wasn't invited to the party, that wouldn't really stop him from crashing it.

And so he roosted in the trees using his alternate falcon form, knowing that his spiritual pressure was undetectable by any of the souls present and that the thick brush would obscure him from sight. If things got too out of hand, he would step in. Until then, though, the Mystic was content to watch and wait. Who knew? Perhaps one of them might surprise him if he waited long enough.

Adele was pleasantly surprised when Ren hugged her, briefly wrapping her arms around the older woman before she was gone. "It's quite alright." She forgave Ren's lack of response to her well wishes in the match the older Mystic had fought prior. Staying focused on the fight at hand was a key skill. Looking around she noted that Hikaru had arrived as well. If he wanted to go unnoticed he should have hidden his spiritual pressure; the nekogami shrugged. The boy would learn.

"Keeji." A cage formed around the sword mage before he could do anything. A flash step later, Adele was right in front of Ren, aiming to slice her friend with an upward diagonal stroke. Divide and conquer. That would be her first strategy. Though the feline Mystic was not much of a swordsman, her form was much better than it had been before. Through training and observation, the young woman had gotten faster and more skilled with her weapon.

Within the blade, a tiger slept. Crescendo knew she was not needed and was content to let her shinigami duke it out and get her heart's content of good, fun fighting. The Siberian feline understood Adele's frustration at not getting a very exciting fight in over half her previous matches.

"See!" Tia pointed at the screen as her sister seemed to magically appear in front of the dark haired lady, Ren was it? "Toldja Nee-chan is awesome!"

"Ren-san might defend herself. You know, so she doesn't get carved up into little pieces." Zechariah shrugged, not convinced by his little sister's hasty judgement.

"Who's side are you on?" The ravenette demanded.

"I just want to see what Onee-chan does when she's at work. This is the closest we'll get short of picking up a zanpakuto ourselves. Do I have to take a side, hanabi-chan?"

"Shut up!" The pale girl snapped.

Midnight gave up trying to enjoy the match from the camera room and left. Leaping through the trees he came to rest at a nice vantage point. Sniffing, he looked up and saw a bird. It smelled sort of like that tall puffy-haired fellow the tomcat sometimes saw. Midnight snorted, but climbed up to sit next to Satoru, waving his tail behind him. The cat knew the falcon would recognize him. Slow-toru wasn't that dense, was he?

When the nekogami took the initiative, Ren was actually glad. If Ren took hold of this fight, she'd have easily sent a kidou ball of fire after Adele and ended up burning the forest down. But thankfully, that kidou was all it took to make Ren realize the fight was underway. When Adele came in to slice her chest open like an autopsy, Ren prepared her body quickly. Twisting it ever so slightly and slamming her fist into the flat of Adele's blade, feeling the sword barely make contact before it was parried with a gloved hand, though not all that well. Her hand stung from the contact, and she nearly lost feeling in it. Sekkinsen was something she was very thankful for when she fought Hikaru, and now it was a great thing for Adele's sword skill.

While Adele's zanpakutou was content in not being released, Kyuketsuki was anticipating the moment Ren would release her. This moment, to be exact.

With two words, as close range as Ren was, the force of Ren's reiatsu bore down familiarly on Hikaru and Adele. It wasn't close to Adele's own strength, but the raw reiatsu her release gifted her wasn't the point. It was the lethality of her release. "Drink, Kyuketsuki."

Her zanpakutou shattered within its sheath, her eyes immediately taking on a fierce golden colour, her leonine irises staring Adele in the eyes. Her normal battlegloves formed around her, their elegant appearance belying their deadly strength. Her hollowesque reiatsu once more bathed the forest, possibly even upsetting Adele's poor sensitive ears. One voice spoke, then a second joined along. With them, arcane energies spun around a glove that Ren held just against Adele's chest, the nekogami's decision to move close to the Spellfist proving bad for her. "Soukatsui."

A vibrant blue light gave birth to flames, every blue flame licking at Ren's hand and Adele's chest until it suddenly exploded outward in a violent display of blue fire.

[327/568]

okayokayokay

If there's something wrong with my blocking/parrying the sword, let me know. :3 Otherwise, what happened to Adele is...

[ Sekkinsen ] - "Close-Quarters Fighting"
One of the primary disciplines of Hakuda is defending against armed attacks. With skill in the practice comes the disciplined and instinctive ability to evade or knock a weapon aside by striking the flat or the hilt. Rather than directly blocking, the user will move their body out of the way or parry the opponent's weapon away, using any part of their body.

This allows the user to stand toe-to-toe with bare hands against weapons, pitting skill against skill. A hakuda user has a chance to twist their body out of the way or parry an enemy blade without automatically getting cut as long as the attacker isn't 50% more skilled than they are, but even someone on equal footing will prove a challenge.

That to block your sword, but got a bit cut and her hand hurts like a motherfucker for it, so she won't use that for a turn or two probably. Then, she used Kyuketsuki's ability, Bite of the Vampire...

[Kyūketsuki no Ichi-kuchi] Bite of the Vampire 吸血鬼の一口
Ability
Though not an actual bite, Ren's kidou can be augmented by Kyu to pack a bite. By paying 1.5x the cost of a Hadou, the Hadou casted has it's strength, duration or range increased by 50%. Hadou that require physical contact, such as Hadou #5, Demon Fist, the increase is 75% instead of 50%. If a Hadou augmented by Kyu strikes an opponent, it replenishes 1% of Kyu's blood pool.

And used it on a Soukatsui, point blank since Adele was close enough to swing at her...

Soukatsui (Blue Fire, Crash Down) - Hadou #33, 375 Kidou

Description: The user unleashes a broad, flat plane of blue fire, 2m across. The spell has an effective range of 30m, and will explode on contact with the enemy.

Incantation: Ye Lord! Mask of flesh and bone, all creation, flutter of wings, ye who bears the name of Man! Truth and temperance, Upon this sinless wall of dreams unleash but slightly the wrath of your claws! Hadou #33, Soukatsui!

So Soukatsui has double it's strength. Point blank. And Ren's released. :3 She didn't help Hikaru at all though, probably made it harder since she's released. xD

When Ren parried, Adele was quick to readjust and move away from the older woman. She could not afford to underestimate her friend, especially if the older could block her sword strikes with her bare hands. Wasting no time, the nekogami prepared to put distance between herself and her opponent. The younger Mystic's idea came none too soon either. Ren released her Shikai just as Adele began to flash step to the right... sort of.

The cat eared woman blurred out of the path of the blue flames just before they hit, appearing several meters diagonally and to the right of the flames' path. "Nice!" Adele called out to her friend. "You've done well, Ren-chan! What else can you do?" Running towards her opponent, the feline Mystic smiled, "Lightning Rod!" She called out, aiming to slice Ren horizontally with her now electrified blade. Ignoring the ache in her legs, the nekogami urged herself to run faster to approach her opponent. It'd be a little while before she could Shunpo again.

"Wow! Look at that!" Tia eagerly pointed at the screen. "Nee-chan disappeared and then popped up again, just like that!"

Zechariah nodded, looking a little impressed. "I didn't know Onee-chan could move that fast..."

[196/1098]

how didn't that hit her?
Adele started to Shunpo right before Ren finished casting. She used Shunpo Senmon to move out of the way. Aww yeah. (She still has more houhou than the attack was worth by quite a bit so she should be quick enough to get out of the way)

[ Shunpo Senmon ] - "Flash Step Expertise"
The practitioner has grown familiar with the rush of motion and has learned how to maneuver during it. The user cannot reverse their direction, but they have some control over turning and positioning themselves strategically, though their turns cannot be greater than 60 degrees.

Requirements: 2,500 Hohou

When the counter came, the only thing that was left in the wake of Adele's previous location was fire. Arcane embers that set trees and bushes on fire were scattered in the canopy and the forest bed. If left unattended, the nekogami, vampigami and idiotgami would have all been fighting in a cage of flames. But Ren wasn't focused on preserving the forest. She was focusing on moving, every fiber of her being, every errant twitch of her muscles and every little movement in her body down to her hair. It all had to be perfectly timed in order to dodge Adele's attacks, to stand on solid ground against her friend and superior.

Incantations ran through her mind as her body tensed, the electrical blade threatening to cleave her in half. "Talon!" she incanted as fast as she could, a burst of lilac reiatsu pulsing from her body and returning to her fingertips to create the white talons that hummed with life. They could stand against Adele if she could avoid losing her fingers. With the white talons being engulfed in Ren's lilac reiatsu, she held up the claws with a defensive posture. One hit. Sparks of kidou energy flew, electricity flying to and fro. Two hits. Ren fell back several steps, but held strong.

Three.

The talons shattered, a cry of pain coming out when the electricity failed to meet kidouryouku and instead met her hand. The blade cut deep, even furthering the pain she felt when the electricity surged through the Mystic's body. The blade managed to cut down between her middle finger and ring finger and cut clearly through to the knuckle, continuing to the middle of her palm with the help of electricity empowering her strike. Blood stained her gloves, even Adele's blade. The first cut was made between friends and blood was shed. It wasn't comparable to Eiji's strike that nearly tore an irreparable gash in her arm, but it felt like it was a cut that would end her life.

Ren lashed out, using her only good hand to grab Adele's wrist forcefully, her leonine eyes staring down at Adele with an emotion resembling hate. Actual hate. Was it Ren? It wasn't her that stared down at Adele, it was the woman's zanpakutou. The nekogami hurt her wielder and it was worse than nearly any pain Ren had dealt with in her life. Kyuketsuki could feel the emotional turmoil Ren felt, and lashed out viciously, threatening to steal the woman's very life from her.

Parts of it did, at least. When Ren lashed out and grabbed Adele, the sickening feeling of having her reiatsu ripped from her very soul filled the younger woman's body. Small bits of Ren's own body tore the reiatsu from Adele, though the primary dealer of pain, as Kyuketsuki said often enough, was the pissed vampire. And she wasn't happy with that small snack of reiatsu. She wanted to drain the life from the nekogami, one way or another. Ren tore her hand away from the electric razor that was Adele's zanpakutou, cradling her hand with her other, staining her outfit and gloves with her crimson blood. Golden irises stared up at her opponent, her friend, her comrade and Mystic. Was Ren going to really fight Adele by herself, without Hikaru? Or was he content with sitting in his cage?

Quiet, pained breaths left Ren as she tore her left sleeve off, wrapping it tightly around her wounded hand. It was useless, but bleeding out wasn't in her interests. She wasn't going to succumb to blood loss today, she wasn't going to seem weak and be taken out in so few moments by her friend. She wasn't weak!

Holding up her only useful hand, she gestured in a manner that challenged Adele to come again. Ren wasn't done, she could've fought still.

[642/1,210]

wow

So she didn't dodge or anything. Just used

Talon - Hadou #7, 50 Kidou

Description: Conjures Kidou energy around the user's fingers, which extends into 20cm long, thin talons. They are glowing white and razor sharp, able to tear through flesh easily and vicious for stabbing. The talons last as long as the user wishes them to, or until they are broken. The talons themselves are strong enough to parry an unreleased zanpakutou several times before breaking.

Incantation: Birds of prey, a predator's strike. Rip through flesh and tear off the bone. With a hawk's precision and the greed of a vulture, Hadou #8,Talon!

And when those shattered, she almost lost her right hand! So that's useless until she gets to the Fourth later. Used...

[Kyūketsuki no Kisu] Kiss of the Vampire 吸血鬼のキス
Ability
The most common trait in vampiric lore is that all vampires drain their victim's life essence in one way or another, primarily through sucking blood. While Ren doesn't suck the necks of her victims, much to Kyu's dismay, Ren can be bestowed Kyu's gift of vampirism when she releases her zanpakutou. By making contact either with her gloves, or per Kyu's pleads of following tradition, kissing or biting, Ren can absorb up to 1% equal to her own reiatsu from her victim. She can stack this up to 5%, storing it in Kyu's 'blood pool' for use.

To absorb your rei. Now she's challenging you to come at her bro, and she's upset and Kyuketsuki's pissed. Gg. c:

Adele was proud of her friend when her first strikes were blocked with talons. Ren's skills left the nekogami wondering at her opponent's limits. With too much gusto (and without holding back) she struck. The look of pride on the younger Mystic's face morphed into an expression of horror as the talons of Ren's kidou were shattered and Adele's electrified blade sliced through the other's hand.

The feline shinigami did her best to stop herself; alas she was too late. Before she could pull her sword out, Ren's hand fastened around her wrist and Adele was subjected to the horrid, sickening feel of having her life essence, her power pulled forcefully from her being. It even made a nauseating sound that was something of a combination of sipping, squelching, and smacking of lips. The nekogami yanked her arm away from the older woman and flash stepped backwards to put distance between them.

Breathing heavily, Adele flattened her cat ears -still tender from her previous matches- at the sound of her friend's hollow-esque reiatsu. It had been grating on her nerves ever since the raven haired shinigami had unleashed her zanpakuto and was beginning to make the Tenth Seat's head hurt as well as her ears. This isn't good....

Release me... You can't go on like this. Between her spiritual pressure and the guilt you feel, you're not going to be able to continue this fight.

But I hurt Ren-chan... I should stop now, before I do something worse.

And insult your friend's strength?

"A tiger's silence is louder." A burst of violet spiritual energy burst from Adele, forcing back Ren's dark aura. The zanpakuto in the nekogami's hands became a set of twin kodachi with electric violet handles and silver-grey blades. The young woman's eyes stopped shifting colors, settling for the same purple of her reiatsu. She sheathed her blades and with renewed vigor ran to meet her opponent, her comrade.

"Is that the loudest you can get?" The younger Mystic challenged the older, attacking with a series of quick, well executed attacks with her hands, careful not to let the elder touch her with those spirit draining palms.

[360/1158]

The boy was not shocked, not surprised, just irritated, but even more so embarrassed. How could he remember to visually hide himself, but completely forget about his reiatsu? These nightmares of his lately had really put him out of it. You have to focus, the cage is weaker now, and you've sat here like an idiot for long enough, go fight! But this time be smart.

The blade was right, and he wasn't getting anywhere by waiting around in a boring practically see-through cage, "Fine." No matter how much he didn't want to admit it. Besides judging from the way Ren's reiatsu was looking, she needed help and quite a bit.

"C'mon Queenie, we've got work to do." The mage stood and let his energies flow outwards, finding it easier after sitting so long, and shattered the cage into pieces. Then concealing his reiatsu, and himself, he leapt through the dense trees to where their power was most concentrated. The boy arrived sadly just in time to watch his sensei slice his friend's hand almost completely in half. Then almost fell out the tree in shock.

The weight of Adele's released reiatsu coming down on her wasn't horrible, but pleasant. The symphony of music was easy to relax to, yet it also carried a deadly atmosphere with it. Ren knew that the Shikai could have easily been deadly, like Eiji's or Adelaide's. She never witnessed the release of Crescendo, and now she was on the other end of it instead of fighting alongside of the neko spirit and reaper.

But Kyuketsuki didn't care about the release. The vampire's hollow reiatsu seeped out, Ren's own kidou energies swirling around them just before Adele stepped into range of fisticuffs. Blue fire sparked as Ren held an open hand out to Adele's direction. The only warning she received was the blue embers surrounding her hand before a plane of cobalt flames erupted from her hand fiercely. The flames ran outward to Adele quickly, hopefully fast enough to prevent her from dodging again. "Soukatsui!"

The sound of metal shredding and breaking signified Hikaru's release from his cage, and his hopeful arrival to help Ren. God knew she'd need even a little help. Adele was almost crushing her at every turn, dodging her previous Soukatsui and even managing to disarm her right hand from use. Hell, with how it felt, she guessed using it correctly again would be difficult even after it was healed.

A pained breath left her from the use of Bite of the Vampire again, her kidou threshold and reiatsu falling lower and lower every moment. Her wounds were getting worse and worse the longer this battle went on. Blood stained the ground from her sliced hand, her hand stung from the dual use of Soukatsui and the previous use of defending her body from Adele's sword. If Adele continued to hit her with those blades, even her fists, Ren could have very well succumbed to her wounds within moments and the fight would've been left in Hikaru's capable...

God, who was she kidding. Hikaru wouldn't last long against Adele if Ren herself couldn't.

'Hikaru, please help.' The mental communication of Taidan rang in Hikaru's mind. Their bond allowed him to hear Ren speak to him telepathically just like most Mystics could to their fellow Mystics. And the voice begged for help.

[375/1,585]

stuff

Used a Soukatsui empowered by Bite of the Vampire just before you got within range to hit her. Then she used Taidan to beg Hikaru to start helping her before she succumbs to her wounds and he has to 1v1 Adele. Hikaru and Ren should have UF if this fight is after the Ren vs Hikaru fight, if not, I can change that bit. Ren's getting weak enough to where she'll probably succumb to her injuries within a few turns (bleeding out from her hand being the main one)

The flames of Ren's technique bore down on the nekogami, setting her ablaze. Partially because she didn't have enough time to dodge. Partly because she felt she deserved the punishment. The fires however, were not enough to stop the young woman. "Bakudo twenty nine, Threshold." And with the simple incantation, the pain of her injuries vanished. Adele felt fine. Oh, she wasn't really okay. The neko soul reaper was still on fire and burnt.

Even Soukatsui wouldn't last long. The feline soul reaper drew her blades and placed the left one on her shoulder, the way one plays a violin and began to play a tune with the right sword. A song only she could hear. The familiar melody was one she'd heard from the trees and later discovered was from something written by a guy called Buxtehude. A bubble of spiritual energy formed around her, pushing away the flames of Ren's kidou.

A few moments later, Adele sheathed her blades and stood, watching her opponent evenly, the singed purple cat ears atop her head swiveling. They detected some movement in the trees: leaves rustling. She turned her head to see Hikaru. "I suppose you're going to join us." The catlike shinigami was numb physically and a mess emotionally. Every fiber of her being was calling to her to go and assist Ren, even as she neglected her own burns. Regardless of who won, the Mystic needed to end this fight soon. At the same time, she could not disrespect the older woman in deciding when the other was finished fighting- no, she would force Ren into submission as quickly as possible and then take her to be healed.

Standing still, the nekogami watched her opponents. "Come at me, then."

Is it really wise to provoke them? A tiger asked from the depths of the girl's mind.

I need to end this quickly.

It would be kinder to knock Ren out first. Then you can heal her and ease her pains a little until you can take care of the other one. Though I don't know how much the vampire will like that... she'd do well to be cautious. You won't be burned again.

I understand, Do-chan. Adele sighed internally. She should have known Crescendo would be unhappy with seeing her get burnt.

Tia stood in shocked silence. She couldn't believe her gentle big sister would be so brutal as to slice someone's hand open. Nor could she understand Ren setting her sister on fire. Was this how shinigami fought? This was way scarier than a lot of things the ravenette had seen before. What kind of power was this?

"...I didn't... she just... Onee-chan is strong..." Zechariah stuttered, equally stunned. His green eyes were wide, glued to the monitor disbelievingly. "But how? I thought they were friends!"

Techs
So... Yeah... Adele used this:

Threshold - Bakudou #29, 290 Kidou

Description: Deadens the body and makes the user incapable of feeling pain for a limited amount of time. The user ignores cuts, bruises, and broken bones that they have. The side effect is that it is very possible to bleed to death, since while the kidou is in effect you feel like you're in perfect health. It becomes near impossible to tell the extent of your injuries. Unfortunately, when the kidou wears off prepare yourself since with severe injuries you'll probably be overwhelmed with pain if not rendered unconscious. Lasts for a maximum of four rounds.

Incantation: Kill the senses, deaden this body! Restrain any pain that could be inflicted! Bakudou #29, Threshold!

And for the random bubble that got rid of the fire:

Pachelbel’s Protection
Adele plays a classical piece on her kodachi to channel 10% of her reiatsu into this tune, she creates a spherical shield that has a radius between 1 and 3 meters. This is most effective when she uses Pachelbel’s Canon in D. The shield repels foreign/enemy reiatsu. Enemy reiatsu is recognized based on the sound of the reiatsu of anything that approaches the shield, allowing allies to remain in the shield, unharmed. Pachelbel’s Shield degrades over time if her kodachi do not come into contact with one another in order for her to play at least once per turn.

The shield has 877 rei to it and degrades at the standard shield rate unless she plays her kodachi to restore it.

Ren stood in disbelief as Adele tanked the hit. Withstanding Ren's strongest kidou and its augmented flames was something she didn't take into account and even the shield was something unexpected. Her fist clenched tightly, blood dripping from her own as she tried closing her fingers. The nerves in every finger except her thumb were either shot or useless, her entire arm beginning to numb as trace amounts of electricity still coursed through her body. Her head began to feel light from the bloodloss and focusing was becoming difficult. She just prayed Hikaru heard her plead and would help before she blacked out.

"We have two blood charges, darling." Kyuketsuki spoke up after a quiet moment. Her tone was calm and she was using words to keep Ren up. Her quiet voice, soothing yet demanding, spoke again. "Judging by our wounds, you've got a minute or two before you faint. We need to try to end this or create an opening for that fool to score a lucky hit. If we can outlast the burning cat, we'll be fine, I promise."

Ren nodded, a quiet cough coming from her. She looked around to see the majourity of the forest around them ablaze with a myriad of blue, orange, white and red. Fire, surrounding them and caging them. It closed in, slowly crawling up the trees and setting the canopy above on fire and starting to light the foliage close to them on fire with stray embers. She brought her shirt over her mouth, coughing with small bits of blood showing up on her shirt. The flames, smoke, wounds. Everything was against her.

With a flashstep that brought her in front of the bubble, she called out a single kidou once again, raising her hand high and bringing it down as hollowesque kidou energy tightened around her palm. Every muscle in her left arm tightened, her body tensing as her hand made contact with the barrier. It wouldn't destroy it, but she had to try something. "Demon Fist!"

stuff

So she's got two turns left or so before she goes out like a light. Used Demon Fist augmented by Bite of the Vampire, which won't be enough to break the barrier, but she's hoping it'll go down with Hikaru's help. But she's within range of anything, so have fun.

To Ren's surprise, she traveled right through Adele's barrier and her hit landed. The nekogami didn't flinch, still numbed by Threshold and wrapped her arms around her friend, infusing the older woman with her own spiritual energy in a much more comfortable, willing transfer of reiatsu. Gently, she did her best to heal Ren's hand with reiki, gently holding the damaged appendage. The bleeding stopped once and for all, but there was little the younger Mystic could do to otherwise repair the injury.

"Well done, Ren-chan," Adele said softly, attempting to relax her friend with rather soothing reiatsu tunes. Perhaps the woman would drift off to sleep. Or not, the nekogami couldn't risk her opponent having some fight left in her. Releasing Ren, the feline Mystic deftly struck at a pressure point on the raven haired shinigami's neck. If the elder soul reaper would only hold still, or at least be too sluggish to respond, she would be delivered almost painlessly into the realm of unconsciousness.

The Mystic remained ready to catch her friend should her plan work, but was also prepared to push her away with what remained of her shield if Ren stayed awake. Looking at Hikaru, Adele decided to prevent him from interfering. "Keeji." Yet another cage formed around the boy.

Say what?
Yep. Decided to be gentle. Threshold will last two more turns, so now it's sort of a battle of attrition, unless Ren is knocked out, the kindest way Adele can deal with her since conceding just to make Ren stop fighting would be like calling her weak. Pretty sure Adele can take care of Hikaru before Threshold wears off.

When her fist traveled through the barrier, shock came quickly, but it came in the form of her collapsing almost against the younger woman. She was tired. Her kidou threshold was exhausted, her reiatsu was still pumping, though not as vigorously as the start of the battle. She would've had some fight in her, but her wounds were far too much for her to deal with. She didn't require the extra pressure point hit to collapse, instead succumbing to her wounds and enjoying unconsciousness without a word against the action. Her gloves fragmented, shattering and fading to reform the wakizashi in her sheath, her closing and fading leonine irises returning to the gentle, warm gaze of azure she was known for.

The vampire lost to the kitten.

Final: [127/2,049]

welp

This was actually a fun fight. :3 But Ren totally is content with just passing out right about now.

Hikaru watched the events unfold in awe of his friends progress, some day I'll be there soon, but for now she needs help. And help is exactly what he hoped to supply. The raven-haired mage concentrated his energy into a small ball, no larger than a nickel that he had become familiar with, "Break the dragon's jaw, little firestar. Hadou number thirty," almost inaudibly he uttered the words, held up his blade to aim, and fired the ball with a flick of his thumb"Big Bang." Sending the bright orange ball of energy careening in a straight line towards Adele's chest.

The ball left him and seemed to lift a burden off his shoulders with it... His embarrassment, that is what kept him in that cage for so long, that is what had him fighting for his own blade's approval.

But this time he would take none with him and fight as if he had nothing to lose, besides its not like he'd kill her anyway.

Hikaru then his next order of business, getting out of the cage. The bars were fresh this time and was in no way unsubstantial. He focused his energy one more time, and blew the top off the cage leaving the rest of it still standing. Then climbing out he felt an intense heat coming from behind him, when he turned to look he almost passed out in shock. "Fire." was consuming everything, and coming straight towards him.

Violet eyes watched evenly as Hikaru's attack crashed harmlessly against the shield surrounding Adele and Ren. The nekogami held the unconscious woman against her chest, unmoving and seemingly unconcerned. She was distant from this battle; what did the struggles of her student to stand against her. His attempts were too late. Now, they were only an obstacle between the Mystic and taking her friend to the Fourth to receive proper medical attention. Even his attack... didn't Hikaru realize that the kidou he'd used would have harmed Ren as well if not for the shield, barely intact surrounding them? Even if Adele had dodged, the abrupt motion could have disturbed the unconscious Mystic's injuries.

After giving her friend just a little more reiki, Adele set the sleeping ravenette at the base of a tree and left her there, protected from the burning environment from what was left of Pachelbel's Shield. The pains of her own injuries were beginning to return and the nekogami knew that if Threshold wore off before she could end this, they might all very well be in trouble. Wincing, Adele crouched near Ren, just outside the spiritual shield, "Kill the senses, deaden this body. Restrain any pain that could be inflicted, Bakudo twenty nine, Threshold." Once more, the feline shinigami was plunged into physical numbness.

Staring at Hikaru with a grave expression, she paused just a moment before rushing him. A flash step delivered the young woman just in front of her remaining opponent faster than his eyes could follow. The catlike soul reaper struck, a quick and brutal strike aimed straight at Hikaru's temple. The blow would knock him out almost instantaneously. Even if by some miracle, this boy wasn't downed by this assault, Adele still had plenty of energy left. More than enough to end this. "You do realize that your kidou would have hurt Ren-chan more than me if it had struck, right?"

Adele. You don't have time for games. You need to end this quickly so you can attend to Ren. Concede if you have to, you can scold baka-chan later. At the very least restore the shield protecting Ren-chan. That Kyuuketsuki character can't protect her right now. The girl's zanpakuto urged her wielder. While the nekogami's anger at Hikaru's foolish actions had distracted the shinigami, the blade still kept focus on the truly important goal: Ren's safety.

"What's that idiot doing?" Tia raged, Hikaru's recklessness having snapped her out of her shocked stupor. "He could have hurt them both and Ren's knocked out!"

"Can't you see? He's brashly endangering people who can no longer protect themselves from his idiocy." Zechariah shrugged, a bit annoyed at the stupidity he'd just witnessed.

"I know that! Jeez! But Adele-nee was... I don't know, but I think she didn't want to hurt Ren anymore but then this dummy has to go and-"

"Doesn't matter now. Now she's gonna beat that guy down, too. I think that Ren-san wasn't so smart in trying to block Nee-chan's sword with her hands though..."

"Onee-chan could've stopped when she noticed Ren didn't have her weapon! But still, Hika-teme deserves a good butt kicking!" Tia declared, pumping a fist in the air, fired up to see Hikaru get his just desserts. If only Adelaide-onee-sama could have been there to see it.

About that big bang...
Adele still had Pachelbel's shield active and it had about 400 rei left to it. Big Bang is worth 300 rei, so the attack would be neutralized by the shield, which is still there. Because Ren and Adele were so close, if that had hit, you'd have hurt them both. So now Adele's angry at Hikaru for endangering the poor, defenseless Ren-chan. Good luck.

Hikaru felt the blow hit him swiftly, and almost allowed himself to be consumed by the sweet embrace of unconsciousness. But rose out of his stupor with a start at the nekogami's words, "You do realize that your kidou would have hurt Ren-chan more than me if it had struck, right?"

The now fully awake mage stepped back and clutched his head, "What are you talking about? I only saw you," he looked around, "Where's Ren? Is she okay? Did she pass out when you split her hand?" Hikaru's mind was being bombarded with worries as he spoke, I hadn't meant to hurt Ren, especially not if she was already hurt.

Why does stuff like this keep happening?

Better yet Why am I always in the middle of it?

So out of guilt, the mage ran back into the raging inferno of leaves and trees, against his body and mind's will, searching for the blue-eyed adept. This time he'd do something, no one else was going to pay for his own stupid actions again.

This time it would be different...

The questions Hikaru bombarded her with only served to prod at her emotional wounds, especially the one about Ren's hand. Fortunately, Adele, angry as she was, was not going to let him get himself killed running through the flames in search of Ren. Especially not when he was going in the opposite direction.

She paused to cast yet another shield around the unconscious Mystic. The music of her ability did little to comfort her; Ren was still hurt and needed attention. Hikaru was still in his brash idiocy the only thing between Adele and rushing her best friend to the Fourth. Once again, she was right behind the dumb boy with the aid of Shunpo. Snatching him by the back of his robes, she dragged him back towards the clearing the rampant flames had created. "Don't you learn?" Her voice was tight, almost pained.

"Running around like a chicken with no head doesn't just cost you, it has the potential to hurt everyone around you!" The nekogami dropped the spiky haired sword mage on his rump. "Ren-chan is injured and right now, you're the only thing preventing me from leaving this place and taking her to get medical care. Can't you for once use that thick head of yours and think about what's going on around you? You're not a kid anymore!" Tears threatened to spill from her silver eyes, partly due to the smoke filling the area and half because she was in no mood to babysit Hikaru, making sure he didn't run off and hurt himself.

"This fight is over," the burnt shinigami stated, "I'm taking Ren-chan to the Fourth. If you get in my way...." The butt of one of Adele's swords swiftly made its way towards the back of Hikaru's head. The crispy-fied feline coughed. None of them could afford to stay in the area much longer. Otherwise they'd all be consumed by the kidou fueled fires.

See, now theres several ways to feel like shit. There's feel like shit as in sickness, feel like shit as in pain, and then there's feeling like shit emotionally. Specifically, guilt.

And that's exactly how the orange eyed mage felt; just like shit. The teen felt strange, like a giant weight had been dropped into his stomach, or like he would need a mop soon. Guilt. It was something he had only felt a few times in his life, and he didn't like it much. Especially when he knew he was wrong, and lately he seemed to be wrong... a lot. On top of that it always seemed to be directed towards Ren, like when he broke her mask, pissed her off and scared her, a few weeks ago when he almost blew off her arm, and now when he had almost killed her with a reckless kidou, because he couldn't see her in Adele's arms.

Even worse it was his fault she wasn't already in the fourth being taken care of, all because of him, better yet he might have been able to prevent this from happening if he had gotten out of that cage as soon as he was able, instead of sitting there pouting like a child... I'm a walking hazard. and in truth he was... Flowers aren't gonna cut it this time,The boy thought sadly, as he passed out.
