[10th/10th] Week ---: Adele Pierce versus Annika Reynolds

tournament officials
We're aware the victory's been awarded and points allocated, but this is too great a dance to go home early.

With a mighty roar, the dragon’s face felt burned by the little spitting of its own fire. How rude, to play with the wyvern’s own abilities! How bothered he was by her behavior, and the fact that she was even able to be so hurt by it! The prey was flying on a vine, as if she was swinging eternally through the trees. Thankfully, vines burn. With a mighty roar, the dragon pursued its prey, a bright and burning flame of black and nightmarish breath attempted to burn the shinigami.

All Annika wanted to do was evade while her dragon light the canopy on fire. She was feeling the same thrill as her foe, the same fun and excitement! She didn’t even care about winning, or really the fighting. She created the dragon to fight, it was born in battle and it believed in its combat, but it had choice, will all its own. It fought because it wanted to, because fighting was in its nature. Annika loved that so. The art was true to itself, and the fire it spilled into the world, inspired by the last shinigami Annika had met, but using that flame was artistic, it was an expression of what the dragon was, as a true creature of free will. How could the petty conflict of the World Tournament match the excitement of this art?

The joy, the sheer bliss of her art becoming so real and true to itself gripped the kitsune far more than the reality of her situation. “Isn’t it magnificent?!” Annika shouted in ill-advised agreement, giving away her position among the treetops as her dragon flew through them.

The vine Adele hung from flew upwards, yanking its passenger out of harm's way. The heat radiating from the wyvern's flames made the nekogami start to sweat a bit. Wow, that's hot! Right about then, the vine snapped from the force of her weight, dropping the Mystic through the remaining heat wave.

Adele ignored the feeling of being roasted as best she could and righted herself just before tumbling through the canopy. The humidity, worsened by the dragon's and her own fires, made her hair puffy and gave the air a sort of clingy feel. Sort of like the hot, sticky dampness was giving her a sweaty, icky hug. Her skin crawled, itching from the humidity and the leaves and spider webs she'd just crashed through.

"Lightning Rod!" The shinigami bounded upwards, slicing a path through the canopy of the rain forest with electrified swords. Upon reaching the top, she jumped, snapping a thick tree branch with Soshi and bringing it under her feet. Soaring at the dragon once more, the Mystic leaped, brandishing her lightning-ified weapons. "Quite lovely, Ani-san! I've never fought a dragon before!" Jabbing at one of the beast's eyes, she called out in question to her opponent, "It's really hot, though, once all of this is done do you want to go to get something cool to drink?"

Something to drink sounded lovely. And come to think of it, she didn’t really care much for the fight anyway, but the dragon did. So the kitsune just sat on a tree branch and waited for the fight to end, since she couldn’t care less about the outcome anymore. She already decided Adele was going to win, she just needed to see her creature burn himself out.

He attempted to breathe black fire on the coming shinigami, which he decided was more reasonable than smacking her with his wing but either way it didn’t seem totally effective. At least he had burned some trees down, and what more could a legendary creature ask for, right? His attempt to burn the nekogami was certainly a pyric victory, in a literal sense of the word, as it left him easily hit by a crackling sword that cut into him before shocking him. This expired the flames, and called the mighty dragon to fall from his flight, stunned by the spasms the powerful jolt sent coursing through his body.

As soon as she sat down, Annika pushed off the tree, hopping through the air to get down to the side of her severely wounded dragon. “Okay, okay, okay, you both can stop. Cold drinks are nice, please let him be now. And you, you got tazed, bro. Good game.” She patted the poor dragon, who just looked away from his creator and let out a low, quiet whine.

At hearing Annika's surrender, the nekogami relaxed. Flipping in the air, she righted herself before summoning a tree branch to land on with her mystical powers. Gently levitating herself via the tree branch to Ani's location, Adele grinned, sheathing her sword and dismissing her Shikai once more. "A good game indeed! We should do this again sometime, you make great opponents, Ani-san~"

Glancing at the dragon, who was no longer trying to maim her, she noted with no small amount of awe, "Hey, your dragon's still alive and kicking! How long will he live?" Hopping off her branch, she stood next to Annika. "If we can heal him up a bit do you think we could fly him somewhere?"
Adele really hoped that they could ride the dragon. That would be really fun! It didn’t hurt that the nekogami was a bit tired and didn’t really want to walk anywhere. Her clothes were a bit scorched and she was hot and sweaty, her had come undone and was forming a giant frizzy puffball that put Satoru’s fro to shame, and her muscles were a bit achy -from all her running and jumping and falling through a canopy. “It might be a good idea to stop at an onsen before we get drinks....” The Mystic added looking down at herself.
