Lucas walked through the field as his gazes swept from side to side taking in the view. The flatland was a good place to have a battle, little terrain to get in the way, few trees to be used as weapons or be hidden behind. The sun was bright and shown that it was about midday. As far as he could tell he was the first one here, and he was alone.

It had been a long time since he felt this alone, he had grown accustomed to the feeling of his the spirit of his blade with him, even if he was a cruel and dark individual. The feeling that he was there kept him strong, the constant need to fight back against the control of the spirit to keep his mind free. That was now gone, and he was alone. He raised his left arm and looked over the charred flesh. It was all that was left of the spirits hold.

Taking a deep breath he let out a sigh as he tried to calm his nerves. That time was gone, it was a new dawn in his story and it was time he realized it took and took hold of his new life, his new future. Clutching his fist tightly he activated the spells effects of Mage Eye in preparation.

The Mystic, having taken his alternate form as a peregrine falcon, roosted on one of the trees littering the landscape. His keen eyes swept up and down the battlefield, observing both combatants. Satoru had never so much as spoken to the raven-haired man before, despite his constant presence in the division. He only knew him by name.

Lucas Morrison. That man's name has only been whispered around the Tenth Division, but not many seem to have a connection with him. I wonder what he's like?

This was one of the earliest fights in the tournament, quite some time before his own, and so he decided to see what sort of man and what sort of fighter had earned the nickname 'Bulwark'. Satoru briefly wondered if any of the other Mystics would turn up in support, but that thought was quickly cast aside when he noticed the man's damaged arm. The blackened hue of it nearly matched the pure darkness that was his own reiatsu.

Whatever his story, it seems like he's been through a lot.

Roland stood high above the battlefield, binoculars pressed against his eyes as he viewed the battlefield. His other hand, having gently laid his cane down, now gripped the side of the large basket he was currently in, keeping him at least mentally sure of the stability of the hot-air balloon he had requisitioned.

He had come for one reason and one reason only. To see if this “Kite” character was nearly half as strong as the Orpheus Leader made him out to be.

“You sure he can handle this, sir?” the old man said as he trained his vision on the shinigami, “this Lucas asshole looks like he’s been around the block a couple of times.”

"The kid's a loose canon." the Orpheus General grimaced, looking rather green around the gills. The bobbing and swaying of the balloon in the breeze wouldn't have agreed with him on the best of days, but compounded by his recent injuries, the motion was making him positively ill.

"...But he's one hell of a fighter. The first time we ran into him he was working for the Yakuza, going toe-to-toe with Aragon and I." the gunslinger breathed wistfully, lighting a cigarette and taking a drag. "He's on a different level from these grunts."

Amber eyes peered downward, focusing on the battleground below. It had been on Masato's word that Kite Altgeist had been inducted into the Initiative, and the General was keen to show his allies exactly why he'd made that choice.

"This'll be over quick. Don't blink."

The first thing to herald the youth's arrival was that of a cherry, not the fruit, but the smoldering core of a cigarette, visible in the distance. At such a distance who exactly it belonged to wasn't clear, but with steady steps intent on moving towards the shinigami, the figure drew ever closer. The smoking man, if one would call him that, was lean and moderately tall, his body devoid of scarring and signs that he might be any sort of a threat as a warrior.

Further, he was young, likely barely out of his teens at best. Adorned with a crop of platinum hair and crystal blue eyes, the smoker sported a black tank top and khaki cargo pants, belt strapped with a number of canisters and objects. In fact, the only hint that this was the man scheduled to fight was those suspicious containers, everything else about him screamed a normal punk.

And just like a punk, he took a deep inhalation of his cigarette and blew it out in the direction of the shinigami, still too far away to have any real effect. None the less, the blue eyes narrowed as he stared at Lucas, as if daring him to make a move.

Watching the reiatsu signature of his opponent he stared at him for a moment wondering what he was going to do. They could stand here and stare at each other for days and nothing would get accomplished. One of them needed to act and it was going to have to be him. Lucas decided it was time to get the fight underway. Reaching his hand out and pointing in the direction of his opponent as a bright orange and red ball of energy formed in the palm of his hand, with a slight grin he called out the words, "Big Bang" as it erupted from his hand and on a collision course with the punk.

The reaction from the youth was one of a calm smirk taking his face. His right hand lifted up, reaching out as if to catch the sphere as it rocketed towards him. "Bitch name for such a weak looking attack." Then it impacted.

The explosion ripped in a sudden gale and forceful impact, and he was sent flying by it, kicked away an extra dozen yards. But it didn't keep him down. Rising up with a vicious look in his eyes, toned legs began to pump vigorously to carry him forward towards the shinigami, a train steaming along tracks.

He did not expect the kid to tank the blast like he did, but he felt as if his strength was being called into question on whether or not he could hurt the punk. It was a challenge he was not going to pass up; especially given the fact they were opponents. The kid did exactly what he expected him to do, rush head first in order to close the distance.

Reaching his hand out again he launched another spell, this time it was Sai and he was prepared to extend the spell to its maximum effect should it land. Quickly following it up he launched another Big bang aimed at the man's feet which whether or not he tried to dodge he had hoped to catch him in the explosion.

Intent on his enemy and rushing forward headlong into him, Kite had no chance to understand the arcane incantations that came from the shinigami's mouth. Given his charge, it was likely he didn't much care either. While his strides were athletic, long, and purposeful for a human being, for a spiritual one, they were just simply slow.

Unable to perceive the spiritual tethers that reached out to slip about his arms, nor parse the incantation required to manifest it, the first bakudou demon art found its mark with ease. But it was with the same ease that its mark simply discarded it. Just as soon as his arms started to constrict did he rip at the unseen binding shredding it in an instant.

Still not fast enough. The second portion struck, wrapping his legs and halting his stride long enough to have him tumbling forward as the compressed energy of the hadou impacted his form.

And exploded. Once more, almost like a rag doll, Kite was blown up and back away from the spellslinger. Once more, the white haired youth drew himself back up to to his feet. Blood ran down his right arm, and the back of his tanktop was in tatters along with scorches on the flesh beneath.

Kite however, just looked pissed. Here, he demonstrated the ferocity that Advents can bring to bear, springing with strength that might be coveted by a god in a line towards his adversary. The force of his launch had done more than kick up dust, in his wake, a indentation and compression of the earth formed a bowed crater a half-foot deep.

He raised an eyebrow at the determination this kid showed. He took two direct blasts from his spells and was still barreling towards him. The anger he could feel from this kid, made him smile. He was right in assuming he had immense strength and he did not want to get into close combat with him unless he had to.

Clasping his hands together he channeled energy once again, the spiritual energy formed around his hands as he pulled them apart and molded them like dough. In each hand he held a ball of blue energy that moved as if they were alive. Kneeling down he slammed the balls of energy into the ground as a perfect replica of him was formed from each orb. They were given a simple order, rush headlong into the enemy and give him the fight he was looking for. He stood up as each replica was finishing being molded by his hands.

"Go get him, my Control Dolls." He uttered and with a little push the two dolls bolted off to meet their opponent.

Control Dolls have Gorogoro in each of them.

“Kid’s a dumbass.” Roland said as he surveyed the fight from above, “Just blindly charging in there. He’s going to die if he keeps it up. Doesn’t matter how tough he is.” His eyes glanced for a moment to his commanding officer. “I hate to second guess you, sir, but I can’t see what you see in him.”

His hand grabbed the handle in the center of the balloon, getting ready to let the ballast out in case they needed to get the young agent out of the fight in a hurry. He would rather not let another Orpheus member die on him if he could help it.

"That's the trick," Masato laughed dryly, staying Roland's hand.

"...He can't die."

What the gunslinger had seen, what he had experienced that night on the highway when he first extended his offer to Kite... The punishment the Grim was dishing out was paltry by comparison. Masato had seen the kid torn apart by a horde of hollows, sliced, shot and blown up, only to come back for more. What he lacked in speed, combat prowess, or indeed sanity, he seemed to make up for in sheer durability.

As grizzly as the scene unfolding below was, the General knew Kite had some idea of what he was doing. They need only sit and watch.

“Even if he can’t die, we certainly can. If I recall correctly, when you initially met him, didn’t he use... pedestrians... as his major form of attack?” Caleb replied in an almost sardonic tone of voice. He appeared seemingly out of thin air in directly next to Masato, leaning over the edge.

While several of the others seemed to reel back in shock due to his sudden appearance, the spy took it all in stride. “Might just be me, but I don’t want to be turned into his primary ammo of choice.”

His eyes never left Lucas. The launched warrior had seemingly no interest in the two encroaching figures until, at the very last moment, his right arm snaked out to clasp one by the throat and crush its neck in a brutal display. It was a cold indifference to life one would expect from someone who had lost their mind, or one who had the knowledge that what they destroyed was not alive.

That indifference quickly turned to widening eyes and a look of surprised as the crushed form split and blew out into a cloud of thrumming, brilliant shapes of electricity. And, drawn by the instinctual back hop that Kite performed, the whole of the cloud began to pounce for him and the clone near him. As the first members of the cloud began to explode into pulses of shocking energy, three things happened.

The second clone erupted into a second cloud to join the first. Kite's body began to scorch and burn under the arcs of condensed lightning. And finally, his right arm hurled something from his belt forward as suddenly, all the world around seemed to bow, visually flexing in towards his body. Just as fast as the rift in physics seemed to congeal it was gone, and all the energy of the advent's strength and rage was flying outwards, towards the casting shinigami.

And with it came the majority of the clouds, pushed by the violent, law defying current with an insurmountable force towards the shinigami, destroying the terrain as it went. A heart beat later, at the feat of Lucas, a violent flash of blinding light and thunderous sound erupted, moments before the wave would impact.

?
He used his ia ability to blow back the purring kitties on Lucas, along with a hurled flash bang ahead of them. He took about half of the first one before he could launch the 1 1/2 remaining back.

This had been what he was waiting for, his opponent was finally starting to get serious and it brought joy to him. This entire time it felt as if he was a bully harassing a weak kid at school, but it now seemed the big kid as coming out to play. He was, however, quite sad if this was the greatest he was capable of doing then this fight was not going to last much longer at all.

It took him a moment to even realize the kid had thrown something at his feet. He stared down at it as the object exploded, expecting to receive a huge wave of pressure slamming against his body to punish him for being negligent and missing the use of such a thing. However, as the object exploded... nothing happened. Just as the cats were blown back at him, he knew the perfect way to counter them. He knelt down quickly and slammed his palm into the ground and shouted out 'Break of Dusk', as a massive dome of darkness erected around himself, nullifying the cats ability to attack things that moved by removing their sight. This not only stopped them, but the punk as well.

Lucas stood within the dome quietly waiting to see what the kid's next move was; luckily for him the darkness did not bother him thanks to the spell Mage Eye which he had cast at the start of the fight. Feeling the reiatsu flow through his body he began to mold it once again in his hand ready to fire the youth's favorite spell at him once again, Big Bang, should an opening present itself.

At the middle of a fight, a young woman appeared in the distance, a form all-too-familiar to Lucas. The way she brought herself was unusual today. She donned just the regular shihakusho, with a thick lavender obi wrapped around her waist. Instead of the usual adornments, she had only her butterfly necklace, and the matching pair of lavender butterfly clips attached on either side of her hair. Her attire held the simplicity that she had so long abandoned, but perhaps held something more meaningful than the way she held herself as a mystic. It was a form only Lucas and Adelaide recognized.

Kamenashi Yuurei spectated in everyone's fights in the Tournament, though she herself did not even have the drive to participate in such event. She was sorely lacking in the field of fighting, yes. But that wasn't why she kept herself watching in the shadows. It was because she thought it was a fine time to detach her name from any affairs that involves her public participation... as a matter of fact, any activity that would record her doing something in someone else's stalker list. But in all honestly, she couldn't get herself to just appear on Lucas's fight as a bird. Business is business, but she was brought here by something else, a more personal reason than having an evaluation for someone.

Sincerely, the lady wanted to see how Lucas would hold himself up and hopefully, disprove the mystics' notion that Lucas is beyond redemption. Moreover, she wanted to prove that she wasn't just holding on to a thing of the past-- that this man, Lucas Morrison, fights and wins, with dignity and pride.
