[4th/Open] Week --: Mind and Matter

When Satoru attempted to lock gazes with her, Adele only looked him in the eye a moment before her own orbs flashed violet and she turned her head. Crescendo growled, glaring at the afrogami from the confines of her wielder's mind. The nekogami, however, was just confused. What was he trying to say? Just days ago he'd been angry and disappointed with her, ashamed of her even. Now he was calling her his student and referring to her with... pride? The feline Mystic's hands tightened into fists at her sides.

That boy better watch himself...

Adele remained silent, refusing to look away from the ground until Lucia announced their next exercise. Her expression brightened a little at being on a team with Ole and Ren, though it didn't last long because only moments later, the Medic Captain was attacking Ole.

With a flash step, the catlike shinigami appeared behind the blond Russian and caught him. "Dragon's Breath!" She spat flames at Lucia in hopes of warding the stronger woman off. Using one arm to support Ole, she drew her sword with her other hand. "A tiger's silence is louder..." Her reiatsu flared quickly. Wasting no time, Adele shifted the Russian just enough to play her swords and speed up the reiatsu of Lucia, Satoru, and Ansherina. For their opponents, the world seemed to slow to a snail's pace, completely skewing any perception of time and speed they had. How would their reflexes live up to the power of her kai? For aesthetic's sake; she let Koutaizumai cloak her swords with the appearance of a violin.

Lithium High

Adele plays a song from the rock genre, her preferred song for this technique being “Lithium” by Evanescence, in order to speed up her or an ally’s reflexes by changing their perception of time. Using her reiatsu to excite the frequency at which the affected person's spiritual energy moves, she causes them to perceive everything in slow motion. Their physical speed will not be affected. Lithium high lasts as long as Adele plays once per turn and cannot be stacked with Pachelbel's Shield.

Have fun with controlling your spiritual pressure ^_^

New Guy over there? the blonde mathematician reflected, wondering if he should feel outraged by such definition. He was glad, on the other hand, that there had been no problem with his late arrival. The workshop seemed like fun already, but the good part seemed to start just then. It was funny how, even if she had clearly stated it had not been intentional, Lucia-taichou’s team was far stronger than the other. After all, the Russian pondered sadly, I’m the weakest here anyway...

For a moment Ole saw everything slowing down almost to a halt. Far from being the effect of a power or ability, that was the sign that his brain was erratically reacting to the danger he was facing. Despite the fact that Lucia-taichou was probably restraining her true power, the Russian was sure that one of her punch, even open-handed, would be enough to let him know what living without a lung would look like. Nonetheless, she had already reached him, before he could put up a serious defence.

It was his luck that Adele saved his day before him. The experience that time had slowed, on the contrary, did not stop. What was that effect? The blonde mathematician gritted his teeth and rolled over away from the Captain, releasing his power at the same time. “Show your infinite light, Amidha!” he shouted, while his sword lengthened to the size of a nodachi.

Jumping on top of it to have a better point of vintage, the Russian intoned smoothly, “Break the dragon's jaw, little firestar. Hadou Number Thirty, Big Bang!”

I was told that this was a hakuda training, the thought crossed her mind as the throng of spells were flung to the opposing party. Not only were they boasting their kidou proficiency, they also seemed to fancy showing off their zanpakutou, to which she sighed inwardly for having none. However, her attention was torn from her apparent weakness when her eyes caught sight of the ball of Soukatsui, and though she stepped away from the danger of its cerulean embrace, there was something off about all this.

When they assaulted the healer captain, each and every one of them was too fast for her to follow (or likely, she had not been paying proper attention to her surroundings). But now, it seemed like the world... slowed down? No, no... it was either everything was purposely made to slow down, or that the gods took pity of her situation before. They were all death gods here, and though it was met with a vehement mental denial, she could not get herself to completely ignore the possibility that someone had this nifty ability to slow them all down. Oh, every single thing in this field just seemed to loosen her screws with each passing second!

Oh, the strawberry-blonde healer liked being able to view the world at this speed-- being able to follow Lucia's attack, being able to escape a raging Soukatsui, and heck, she might be able to stand a better chance at escaping from being used as a human club! But a nasty feeling gnawed at the pits of her stomach, as though this affair would conceal a much greater plan for manipulation. And she would have none of that.

"Way of healing number thirty eight, Placebo!" Ansherina theorized that there might be several explanations to this affair, and calming her nerves would be the first thing she could do. It could be an ability to slow her reaction by constricting her reiatsu pathways, or slow her perception by controlling the speed at which her mind could receive the information, or to slow the world by virtue of an immense power that she had never heard of. If it was ever a contamination, she would have to use Restoration. But then, first things first, she went with the simpler option.

And as the world continued to shift back to its normal pace, the woman wondered whether she did the right thing, or whether she made things worse for herself.

I was hoping Bish could post before I do but D:<

Also, Dys,

I'm using Placebo because there's this assumption that by manipulating perception and not sensing, your shikai ability basically just tampered with a mental function. You might argue that it's not affected by Placebo because you increased the frequency of the way our reiatsu moves. Well, that's fine. My point, is that perception is not a reiatsu-induced ability that can be countered by reiatsu. Perception, in itself, is a cognitive function. I'd assume that increasing the frequency of our reiatsu is like adrenaline, but that mechanic isn't for me to argue. PM me if you have any problems so I can cite you a solid scenario. :)

Satoru watched the chaos of battle wash over him yet again. He noted that Adele had released her Shikai, though the barrier that he had seen her use to protect themselves from the combined reiatsu of Tsubaki and Theron was nowhere to be found. Ren and Ole made their moves, but something wasn't right. He wondered for a brief moment if Ren had gotten even sloppier in her casting as he saw the flames coalesce at a snail's pace. He willed his body to move out of the way, but still everything felt clunky and unnatural and... slow.

Something's not right here...

Then he noticed that Adele's sword had changed from its normal appearance into that of a violin.

If her sword has changed forms, that means that she's probably up to something with her Shikai!

Reiatsu began to flow into the Mystic's headphones, forcing the nekogami's ability out of his form with the power of his soul and modern audio technology. The world returned to its natural pace as Satoru narrowly stepped out of the way of Ren's spell. During the motion, his eyes surveyed the battlefield and he noticed Ole floating atop his sword avoiding the battle entirely.

"One Hundred Wooden Arrows!" he shouted as he thrust his pointer finger towards the spellsword. "Perhaps this will get the point across!"

As the words were spoken, scores of arboreal projectiles were rapidly shot towards the Russian.

Mental effects getting you down? Is every minute feeling like hours?
Then buy your very own [ Nami Hara ] headset! Available in Royal Purple and... well that's about it, actually, but it comes with the following effects:

Ability: Nami Hara contains all the ordinary functions of your standard MP3 player and headset, as well as a modified AM/FM tuner that allows Satoru to tap into unsecured broadcasts for 100 reiatsu per round. Due to the more deeply attuned nature of the headphones, they hardly detract from his ability to sense his surroundings. Additionally, Satoru can feed his own reishi into the headphones, creating a high-pitched frequency transmitted solely to the wearer that allows them to resist or ignore any detrimental effects to his mind. This ability costs 500 reiatsu per turn active, and only affects abilities up to the amount paid in.

Nana had wanted to slap the whole lot of them across the face and plant their faces in the mud. Did they not come to her sister for some training in hakuda? Then why were they all so haphazardly doing exactly the opposite of just that?

Springing back and forth between the various combatants with her shunpo, keeping track of all the silly shenanigans they tried to pull off, the blue-eyed matriarch came to a longer halt near the captain of the Fourth for a split second.

“Are you sure this is going to help them with, you know... hakuda?”

In the midst of Nana’s shunpo, Lucia replied. The warping powers of Go no Sen providing a window, a fragment of a second where she instinctively knew where her sister was. “I’m working on it!” she shouted as the noblewoman appeared farther away.

Lucia smirked as the combination of cleansing effects washed over everyone. As the barrages seemed to fly in each direction, the chaotic mess of attacks did amuse her slightly. After all, it was disordered training sessions that she loved and preached the most!

She continued to fly forward like a bullet, slamming her fist into Ole’s stomach. The man was launched backwards by the tremendous force until he slammed into the ground far away, knocked out in a single punch.

The exercise came to a halt as everyone turned to face her. “Whoops,” she said, realizing the power of her punch, “Note to self. Hold back strength a bit more.” The healer turned around with a sheepish smile on her face. “He’ll be fine... I mean he’s already at a hospital.”

With renewed vigor she slammed her right fist into her left hand. “We’ll just go without him! New teams! Ren, Anshy, Cat-woman! Afro-dude you’re with me! React and change in an instant! Your enemy is now your ally and vice versa! Read your opponent and approach again!”

She jumped forward, disappearing in a burst of shunpo this time appearing in front of Ansherina. With a smile and a wink she went for an uppercut.

-SORRY ABOUT DELAY. LIFE. THINGS. FORGOT. MY BAD. Knocked out Ole because of Senej's plagiarism.

"Whoa!" The Russian healer yelp as Lucia's foreboding figure flashed before her very eyes, the captain's swing growing ever closer as each second passed. "Breaking Palm!" she bellowed as the film of pure energy surrounded her hands, albeit not at its full force. However, it was with that same hand that she slammed her hardest at Lucia's direction, one hand at her fist and one hand at her face, in a manner that could have been similar to her defensive reaction towards an assaulting lion.

While Ansherina dealt with Lucia, Ren turned to Adele and nodded without another word, flash stepping towards Satoru to close the distance between her opponent. "Hadou number five, Demon Fist!" A fist soaked in red, violent energy was sent soaring towards the afro-capped head of Satoru's.

Adele inclined her head minutely at Ren's nod and quietly approached Satoru at an angle using shunpo. As an after thought, she resealed her blade and re-sheathed it. The nekogami needed to use her hands for this. And maybe some kidou.

Question
Are we using are current stats?

Satoru saw both Ren and Adele enter into shunpo to try and surprise him. The art of swift movement was far from his primary realm of expertise, but the same could be said for the two women who were now out for his head.

The fist covered in scarlet light caught his attention first, then his eyes flitted to Adele. For some odd reason, the nekogami had elected to sheathe her blade instead of devoting herself to the attack. He allowed his experience in the realm of hand-to-hand combat to take over, twisting his body out of the way of Ren's attack. Rather than stepping backwards, Satoru reached out to grab the Vampire by the arm and forcibly redirect her attack towards the hesitant Adele.

Gloam and Dys
Current stats or not, Satoru has double both of your individual hakuda stats and more than enough hohou to track your shunpo(s). Therefore...

Sup.

The vampire's fist would have impacted against the younger woman's body in a more devastating fashion had Ren not managed to move her body lower by just a few inches. Forcing herself to bring her body down towards the ground, her fist instead made contact with Adele's stomach, bringing with it the deadly blunt impact Demon Fist was carrying. Immediate surprise showed in Ren's azure eyes, though she only hoped her friend would be able to handle the pain of the low level kidou.
