Yes, this can be seen as one-a-dem 'introducing the division' collabs for all to enjoy. So... enjoy!
A nice, cold breeze swept past the newly instituted captain of the Ninth Division, Kaede Kusajishi. Even though she was getting used to her new role, it still felt really, really weird each and every time she put on her haori. It had no sleeves so, fortunately, she did not have to worry about losing her arms and hands in them – all of them.
She hadn’t particularly made it clear to the ‘public eye’ that she was holding an, “Yay, we’re reopened!” party, mainly because... well, she really wasn’t that kind of person. In the event that some did show up, however, she had everything prepared and ready for set off.
Being the captain of a technological network, obviously had its perks... in terms of finding materials for new inventions that is.
Shooting a quick glance at Mari-tan she smiled softly. This was going to be one hell of long day, no doubt.
And it certainly would be for more than one shinigami.
After having just received the news of Kaede's success in her taishuu practical and thanks to a certain informant, Ryoujin couldn't put off a visit any longer. Luckily, since he had been here before to get clearance on using Charon's Road, he knew where exactly the Ninth Division was located. Soon enough, he found himself approaching the taihonbu. Directly ahead of him, he noticed the Kaede that he knew well. Only time would tell if the responsibilities that came with the rank would change her, but something told him that that wasn't going to be a problem.
As he gazed at her, no longer did she wear the adjutant's badge of the Fourth, but rather, she wore the esteemed haori of the Ninth. Upon closer inspection, he also saw that she seemed to be staring at a helping hand?
Must be one of her inventions, he thought, closing the distance between them with a shunpo.
"Oh hai Kaede. Everytime we meet, it's like you go up a rank. Weird, huh?" Ryoujin began, feeling the sudden urge to hug his friend. Knowing that she would probably experiment on him if he were to do something like that, he instead settled for something else. With a smirk, he added, "Congrats."
"Just few more minutes,” boy with a short cut hair mumble turning to the other side.
"Awww. That was mean,” he protested when the man just throw him from the bed. Massaging his head after fall Hajima looked at the man above him, which accidentally was his own father.
"I said I don’t want to wake up.”
"And I said you must. Today our new captain starts commanding a whole division. So whatever you want it or not it’s in good tone to show up there even for a moment,” tall man said and left the room.
"New captain, new captain,” Hanabusa said with mocking manner. "Before she came here was so quite. Now it’ll be too much noise for me.”
He sat and looked around searching for something.
You’re looking for me? gentle female voice said.
Yes. I forget where I put you, he scrapped his head trying to remember where his zanpakutou could lay.
Try and find me, Tess teased him.
Nagh...I’ll find you after getting ready to go, young scientist replied and stand up.
It took him a few minutes to dress in casual clothes. Sitting on the chair he was looking upward still wondering where could be the sword, when he noticed it laying on the net hanging from the roof.
"There you are,” he said and standing up reached to it. Now he was ready to see captain. Looking over the room to make sure everything was on it place or more liked not quite Hajime left the barracks heading toward the main building.
The slender scientist removed her colorful frames and gently bit down on the earpiece. So this is our new captain, eh? the temptress mindfully inquired as a smile etched on to her face. Being as though she bares the haori I... take it..., her thought began to slip the more she became distracted by something else.
Serizawa's expression changed as her sights fell toward the marionette that followed in Kaede's footsteps. "Now that's an interesting contraption," she said to the new captain, her voice echoed over the crowd. The seductress placed her frames upon the bridge of her nose, a painted hand on her hip, pointed at the life-form and asked, "So what do you call her?"
His form bobbed up and down with an almost imperceptible excitement. It was time, it was time, it was time!
A few manic giggles bubbled out from him, earning a few wary looks from bystanders as he attempted to shove, stumble and if necessary blast his way towards the woman he'd have to call captain now. Why? Probably to give her a nice big hug for reopening the bestest division ever!
Needless to say, the young Houshin was rather ecstatic with the reinstatement of the Ninth Division. As he finally broke upon the front row of the small crowd of spectators that had gathered to witness the rebirth of one of Seireitei's oldest divisions, the strapping young man made an elaborate show of smoothing down his oil-soaked hair and dusting any stray bits of charcoal off his uniform.
Wouldn't do much good to look so horrible in front of the captain, He mused, entirely ignoring the various cuts and rips that adorned his shihakusho from day to day.
He then proceeded to attract attention the only way he knew how. Muttering to himself, he debated over what the best course of action might be for being noticed by the new R&D captain. "Big Bang should be loud enough, but I don't want to destroy all the nice things around here…maybe Beniikazuchi? Star Shriek Blast..? Decisions, decisions…"
So engulfed with his inner debacle was he, that the proceedings of the little get-together went all but unnoticed by him.
Feeling somewhat… put off – though “put off” was perhaps stretching it – Kaede listened to the event growing bigger and bigger by the minute.
“And it seems,” she began, shifting her attention to the Templar, “that you stay the same, no matter how often we meet up, no? But thanks anyway.”
Feeling somewhat torn between actually replying to the woman who began small talking her after Ryoujin and... not replying, Kaede sighed softly as she returned the woman’s pose.
Mitsuhito did not know the new captain at all, but he knew that it was only right and proper to congratulate her for successfully obtaining her taishou. As he made his way to the new division grounds of the Ninth Division, he thought about the work that division would do.
He only heard that the division would become the research and development bureau and that there were some crazy people already inside it. So while he walked there he made himself ready for whatever would happen.
As he reached the ground he notice at least one familiar face in the crowd, talking with the new captain of the Ninth Division. Getting closer he could get a good view at her. While she was slightly taller then five feet, she stood out with her brown hair and of course her haori.
After he made his final steps, he stood in front of her and said, “Hello Kaede Kusajishi, we may not know each other but I congratulate you of becoming the captain of the Ninth Division regardless of that.”
When he was finished with his sentence, he nodded to Ryoujin before stepping a few steps back.
Out of place among the throngs of scientists in their pristine lab coats anxiously waiting to throw themselves before their new captain, was the bandaged assassin Feng Yin. The crowd was dense and Feng’s small five foot four inch frame left him in the middle rather than being able to scope as some of the taller men could. The thought crossed his mind of just how many of these same lap dogs threw themselves before Saika when he was given the haori and just how many seconds after his betrayal they disowned him.
It didn’t matter now, there was Kaede, and knowing the judges the new lead scientist would have been briefed on what man wandered her division. The gunmetal eye scan the murmuring as the new shinigami waded through the sea of scientists. Encountering no resistance, in fact seeming to float through the assembled mass, it was scarcely over a minute before Feng found himself next to the new captain.
“Kaede Kusajishi, it is a pleasure.” The boy’s voice said impatiently. “Feng Yin, by the nature of my departure, I think the Judges would have already told you about my transfer.” He said with a short bow. “I hope my meager knowledge can find some use in this division.” Centuries serving the judges had left him prone to his flowery prose to those in positions of power. Though he never enjoyed the political game, that didn’t mean that the boy was so dumb as to not know how to treat his captain.
“Gosh I didn’t knew that all these people come to see our new captain,” Hanabusa said sitting on the wall surrounding ground where all shinigami was slowly gathering.
“So where we have that captain,” he started to scan looking for characteristic piece of cloth that only captain could wear. “I hope none others captain show up.”
If they show up you should recognize them, spirit noted with a playful tone.
A lone shinigami stood off some distance away from the crowd. He was leaning against the wall that surrounded the Ninth Division complex, seemingly uninterested in the proceedings before him. The figure was none other than Sébastien Vermillion. The Peacekeepers had been contacted to stand watch over the reopening ceremony for the Ninth. And knowing what the scientists of the Ninth were like, especially if they would be fawning over and vying for the recognition of their new captain, the blond death god wasn't surprised.
So the Thirteenth sent him with a small contingent for peacekeepers to monitor the gathering. Bastien had his men wait just outside the complex, waiting for a single word through the Jikokuchou to rush in and calm things down.
Luckily, nothing big had happened yet. "I hope it stays that way," Bastien mumbled to himself, as he scanned the crowd lazily. A few people stuck out to him, a girl admiring the captain's work, almost flirting with her it felt, a few men addressing her from the front of the crowd, and...
"Hello..." the man said, taking note of one particularly interesting person. "Don't like the looks of you at all." It was a man wrapped in bandages. That was really all he could say about him. Certainly that wasn't strange to find in the Gotei, particularly for the Ninth, but something beyond that troubled him about the man. "Guess I should take note of you." The half blind death god closed his eyes for a moment, and when he reopened them, his right eye had become dull, lifeless, while a strange pentagram seal had formed on the left. "Yeah, even your reiatsu creeps me out," he told the man from hundreds of feet away. While he was at it, he took note of the other men in the crowd, the girl flirting with the captain, the captain herself, and a random person sitting on the wall some distance away. With all of their signatures memorized, he closed his eyes, letting them return to their normal state.
The seductress parted the crowd with a wave of her painted hand. "Excuse me," she politely added, motioning her hand side to side. She then became impatient. "I said excuse me."
The woman huffed and then moved aside some rambling officers as she made her way toward the captain. "Move," she said, shoving a man out of her way, who mentioned something about getting Ninth-y. "Out of the way," she said, pushing the bandaged corpse.
Serizawa did a double take toward the previous man she pushed and then waltzed toward the captain as she shoved the final man aside, some random assassin.
"So Captain," she enunciated, looking back at the rude and disrespectful people who refer to her without her title, "Kusajishi. What is this lovely little doll capable of?" she inquired with a seducing tone and running her fingers through Mari's silky locks.
It was a great day, everyday was for the girl of course, but this one was exceptionally great above the rest. Her division, or rather, the division she had always wished to become a part of had reopened again and she had managed a spot amongst the greats.
Svea Larrson beamed, she felt a greater joy then she had almost ever in her life, in this one and she was sure in the one before too. Things were going to be good from now on, she was free to do what she loved, what could be better? That seemed like a tough thought for the short blond, she was damn happy.
Sitting criss-crossed, she peered around at the turn out.It was fair, full of people she would learn to work with as time went by in the bright future their captain had built for them. They owed it all to Kaede after all, surely they all knew that. None of them would fail.
Well, maybe that guy. She thought as her eyes fixed onto a short, hyper boy muttering to himself like a crazy about the best way to cause an incident. Svea was hyper, but she knew better than to blow kidou around like they were fireworks.
"Let try this stuff,” he whispered when pulling up from his robes an odd looking object. It was looking like a cross of the goggles with headset. But to make it even stranger it was only left half of it with few straps on the right side to help position it in right place on his head whole think.
"Better,” Hanabuse remarked with a smirk seeing everything much better even if it was only with only one eye.
Slowly he looked over a whole gathered crowd finding few odd looking shinigami. One guy in bandages that makes him looks like...how human call it? A mummy.
Feng Yin. That is a quite unfitting name for him, Hajima chuckled hearing the bandaged reaper name. Maybe it should be Mummy Yin. Yup that sounds much better.
Looking around young scientist noticed some blond-haired guy standing away from the rest. For a moment it even looked like he was looking at Hanabusa. Turning back his attention to crown hears interesting words.
"So Captain Kusajishi. What is this lovely little doll capable of?” some female voice said and he immediately looked carefully who will respond to this. Waiting for this he was searching for the owner of this voice.
So even you Serizawa show up here, thought a young reaper trying to find woman with emerald green hair. With high possibility she should be standing near mentioned their new captain.
Still struggling with his ‘sober legs’, an unhappily aware redhead made it on the scene, scoping out the new Ninth digs. Not too quickly, as looking around too quickly made him quite nauseated, and often resulted in him falling on his ass. Yup, sober as a stone, and still falling on his ass. It was more painful when not drinking, he had noted.
God rot this goddamned ‘trial’. What a pisser.
Steadily making his way over to the crowd, he noted very few familiar faces. Kaede’s, actually. That was the only familiar one. The urge to bustle over and throw out his congratulations was quickly tempered, seeing as she was currently already being swarmed. He knew that was probably irking her, and so decided it safer to simply wait his turn.
Still, it was against his nature to fade into the background completely, so he shuffled over to the crowd and found a nice spot of fluffy grass. Sitting did not go as planned, turning into more of a stylized falling over. More internal turmoil over his current situation ensued, leaving a mildly sour look on his face.
Fuck it, not yer day mate.
The sour look turned, though ‘passive’ was still pretty much all he could muster. He’d save the effort to smile for when he was actually speaking with her.
A resounding "Aha!" echoed above the din, before another word was shouted for all to hear. "Spectrum!"
Not exactly destructive , but still flashy enough to be worth learning, a single wave of red light blasted outwards, leaving those subject to it glaring through the crimson haze at the potential member of the Ninth. As all eyes turned onto him, his silly grin never left his face. "Hi there!"
"What the hell, man?” An extremely short, and extremely annoyed scientist glared up at Houshin. Eighth Seat Sakamoto Takashi stood barely five foot six in his sandals with the padded soles, and he was thin to the point where people were constantly offering him food and whispering about eating disorders when they thought he couldn’t hear them. First he got knocked aside by that rude, too-pretty woman, and now some asshole thought it would be funny to cast Spectrum on everyone.
It just wasn’t his day.
One expected chaos at the inauguration of a Ninth Division captain, of course. It just wouldn’t be right if everything went smoothly. But Takashi had expected something more creative than pushing and shoving and Spectrum. More... well... Ninth-y.
There was still plenty of time, though. And if nothing interesting happened, an officer was supposed to be proactive, right? Right.
“Wow. Looks like somebody drink a little too much today and fired fireworks too early,” Hajime commented when a suddenly explosion cause temporal blindness of his left eye.
“I should build in it some filter to prevent such situation,” he mumbled pulling off small notebook with a pencil from one of his pocket.
‘Upgrade my goggle so I won’t be blind by sudden use of,’ Hanabusa stopped noting for a moment trying to remember if he manages to hear that spell name. ‘Spectrum or other similar working kidou.’
“Okay so let back to looking for the captain,” he remarked with a satisfaction hiding his notebook back into pocket.
The always-serious Sasaki Sayuri dusted off her shihakushou after being rudely pushed by the woman she rarely knew, though she was equally captivating. Making matters worse, that agitated kid thought it was cool to use a bakudou at a time like this. Where was the respect towards their superiors these days? Sadly, the time-honored tradition of time's past were absent on this fine day. They just gave the leggy Sixth Seat more reasons to be weary of them in the future, especially if they're going to work with her in important projects.
All these people are coming back because we have a competent captain and not some lecherous bastard to look up to, the redhead thought as she referred to the previous captain, Saika Rakushun. With the craziness around her and the talk about making Ninth Division more Ninth-y, the perfectionist couldn't help but sigh in defeat as she let the people do whatever they wanted during the induction.
After remaining still and silent for a moment, Sayuri slowly began his unceremonious walk towards the congregated future scientists, savoring the looks of surprise and hushed whispers all the while. She gave a slight nod to the new captain of the Research and Development department, even if it was only out of respect.
"It's good to a have person such as yourself in charge of the Ninth Division, Kusajishi-taichou," she said in a rather cheerful tone. "I speak for everyone gathered here and wish you nothing but success in your captaincy."
Multiple things seemed to be happening at once as the emerald-eyed captain found herself surrounded by a butt load of suck-ups, amongst others. She didn’t completely mind, though, but it was rather difficult to give everyone their well deserved – or in some cases less deserved – attention.
Sighing softly she waved her hand, motioning for the masses to get out of her way, making sure that Mari-tan wasn’t sexually assaulted by pervert-onee-chan.
“She’s as much human, and capable of human things, as the next person. Only difference is... is that she’s not. I can’t shut her down, but she can run out of fuel, which is basically my reiatsu. So if I fall exhausted, she does too.
“Now, while I’d like give you all my fullest of full attentions,” she continued, this time speaking loud enough for the entire gathering to hear her, “I cannot do so if all of you plan on ambushing me at the same, goddamn time. As such, here’s something universal for you: thank you, and I will be making appointments with each and every one of you once everything has settled in, and down.”
Once again she motioned her hand for the crow to move aside and made her way to a peculiar visage of an old friend.
“Hey,” she said, tapping Raury softly on his shoulder, “didn’t think I’d see you here.”
The moment his vision had cleared and his right eye had stopped watering, Bastien began pushing his way through the mass of stunned scientists to the culprit. What kind of madman would cast Spectrum around so many people? Not to mention the poor peacekeeper was already blind in one eye, he didn't need to lose the other! He was going to put the fear of... well, the fear of something fearful into the man.
"Oi, you!" he called out to the lunatic, tapping him on the shoulder. "That was a bit uncalled for, don't you think?" He crossed his arms and hoped he looked imposing enough to get his point across so he wouldn't have to do something more drastic. "Let's not assault our fellow shinigami anymore, okay?"
