It was obvious that the captain could not give everyone her full attention as there was just too much happening at one time, but the scientist got the answer she sought and knew that there would be another day she and Captain Kusajishi would meet. After all, Serizawa was one of the existing seated officers in the Ninth. As the captain slipped away from her grasp she placed her specs back on the bridge of her nose.
The emerald-haired vixen heard a chatter from a familiar voice. She glanced behind her and looked over the top of her glasses at the young fellow. "Oh goodness," she exaggerated. "Kid you need to tone down on the wash and shine shampoo, your hair has become an eye sore to look at any further. Good day to you," Serizawa concluded, closing her eyes and strolled right pass the peacekeeper.
With the proceedings done, it was time to leave the group and finally head home known as the laboratory. The redhead can't stand and watch them for another second. Her purple eyes looks looked at the vixen who gave the peacekeeper some sage advice. The last thing the newly reopened division needed was for people from the outside telling them what to do. Things were all right until that brat showed up.
The sixth-seated scientist walked past the blonde boy and didn't take one glace at him as she placed a hand on her hip. "Whatever business you have here, I suggest that you finish it quickly," Sayuri warned him sternly. "Also, more conditioner and less of that shampoo you use." The leggy shinigami whipped her hair around and walked towards the building where she was glad to be back in after several months.
Turning his eyes up to his approaching friend, he offered a pleasant grin. Her captains attire suited well, he noted.
Lookin sharp, Kaede-chan.
“Didn’t expect me?” A faux frown and furrowed brow played up his playful jibe. “I am wounded, friend. To think, she would expect him to not show hair nor hide on an occasion of this magnitude? Why, this is yet another glorious notch in her growing belt of accomplishments. Of course he would arrive to bear witness to the occasion.”
An attempt to rise was made, but the poor ability to correctly distribute his weight was evident as he ended up doing some sort of undignified ground-to-butt bump maneuver. Slightly embarrassed, he smiled up at the newly appointed captain.
“Ah. Forgive me. Seems the ground wishes me in place for some time yet...”
“Shampoo,” young reaper mumbled under his nose. “That could be a good idea but not for this guy, that aren’t looking like one of our division but the one that cast Spectrum.”
“I could add to his shampoo something so his hair change their color or,” a young man was excited at possibility to make some prank to annoying ninth shinigami. “it could cause his hair stiff so much it will looks like he have spikes on his head.”
“And then I put small bells on the spikes ends so no one will be surprised when he come close,” Hanabuse finished whispering about his devilish ideas to repay for the temporal blindness.
Watching with amusement as the spectacle played itself out, Ryoujin couldn't help but stare at the flashy shinigami that had cast the Spectrum spell. From the looks of it, the others weren't taking too kindly to it which he could completely understand, but at the same time, he couldn't help but laugh from some of the comments made about the blonde boy. Whatever his intentions were didn't matter at the time. He was probably sucking up to get some points from Kaede, but it looked it had certainly backfired as half of the assembled ninth division shinigami were already scolding him.
Turning to Mitsu and Kaede for a second, he smirked.
"Looks like something might erupt if that guy keeps at it," he muttered, so only the two of them could hear him.
The peacekeeper looked around in bewilderment at the retreating forms of the scientists, disappearing into the crowd around him. "What? Wait!" he called out to no avail. He turned right and shouted after one. "What do you mean?" To his left for another. "What did I do?" The poor blond spun in a complete circle, finding himself alone and helpless to the verbal assault he had just endured. "I was just trying to help... it's why I'm here..." he mumbled in his defense, looking down at the ground. "Why is everyone mad at me now?"
Suddenly, his right hand shot up from his side and ran through his mop of golden hair. He locked his fingers into it for a moment, then pulled his bangs down in front of his eyes. "And what's wrong with my hair?" Suddenly finding himself with a lack of self-esteem, Bastien flash stepped past the crowd to where Raury had fallen, oblivious to all else, only one thing on his mind. "Raury! Thank god you're here! Is there something wrong with my hair?"
Before the drunkard could answer the emerald-haired woman spun around, peeked over her frames and responded, "Yes, there is." She added not another word to the statement, just a humble and playful, "Hmph," accompanied with a dismissive expression.
The youthful seductress turned around and bumped into a taller figure. "Watch," she had begun with a rough tone and then immediately paused when she saw yet, another white robe. Shit another captain...
Her tone became a more friendlier one. A soft chuckle left her lips as she looked into Senesati's eyes and completed her statement. "Watch that crowd out there. There are a lot of clumsy people today."
She hid her face behind a raised palm out of embarrassment. "If you will excuse me, I have some... unfinished work and must head back to my laboratory."
Senesati did not add a word, he instead surveyed the woman as she walked away. The spell-sword captain then continued his search for the newly appointed Captain of the Ninth.
Senesati did not need to look any further as the newly appointed captain of the Ninth was already well within his view. She had been sitting somewhat idly next to Raury, conversing with him and just generally jesting about the several people around the place.
Plus, she was kind of interested in Raury’s attempt at being sober… it seemed that there was a major downside to this: he got even drunker.
Locking her eyes onto the Eight Division captain’s she smiled softly and got up from her spot on the grass.
I don't think using Spectrum was a bright idea. Mitsuhito thought while rubbing his eyes because of the radiant light that erupted for some seconds. After he could see again all of his surrounding was aflame in a red light.
"Your hair looks kinda funny, it is red after all.” he said jokingly to stick with the rest.
After that he bowed his head down a little, to greet yet another captain.
The white-haired scientist adjusted his glasses as he entered the room where his whole division and a few outsiders had gathered. He had been late for the introduction, and had only managed to peep a bit on Mari-tan, the doll of their captain. That quite an interesting experiment you have there, Miss Captain. I wonder if something like that would work without even relying on your reiatsu.
The young man walked up to the female that had newly been appointed to lead the division as the captain. The lot of people had not interfered with the scientist; he had simply ignored every single one except for one. As he walked up to the female shinigami, slowly fixating his white robe, he bowed his head slightly in front of her.
"Midorikawa Yasutaka, in your service,” he took a deep breath before continuing, "Kaede-taichou.”
It was odd hearing his first name with out the title captain in front of it from the same person who was beneath his notice, not even days ago. Senesati spun around and caught a glimpse of the newly appointed captain before speaking the words, "I thought I'd visit personally and congratulate you on the promotion, Captain Kusajishi.
"If there's anything the Eighth can assist you with, other than crude experiments on other shinigami or innocent souls, you know where to find me. In the event you don't," he paused a moment before adding, "I am sure Seitaro will help you find the way."
The nobleman was in a rather uneasy mood from all the surrounding people, but he still wanted to personally offer the aid of his division and make the attempt at keeping division rivalry down as low as possible, while at the same time boosting morale and team spirit to the rest of the military force from his visit.
“Finally I found you,” Hanabusa mumbled with a slight happy voice
Adjusting his goggle he looked carefully at Kaede when she talks with some shinigami outside of Ninth and then turns to another captain.
“More captains? I wish we don’t have now attack of clon…err captains here,” young scientist noted with a playful tone.
Then he heard someone making comment about red hair. “Hmmm maybe that shampoo should change hair color to bloody red too.”
“And another one,” Hajime with voice that started to show sigh of boredom looked and listen as one by one shinigami was introducing themselves to the captain.
“I suppose I could introduce myself better than this jerk with Spectrum but why bother to that. She’s now swarmed with everyone else,” he said sitting with one hand supporting his chin.
Blearily, Raury looked up at Bastien, only halfway registering what had been said to him. Abrupt appearances somewhat confounded him right now.
"Hair? You look to be in high fashion.”
Then a thought. Where had Sebastien even been lately? He hadn’t been within Raury’s notice for some time now. In fact, he hadn’t seen the man since shortly after his transfer to the Thirteenth.
"Oi...where the hell have you been, anyway?”
He cocked an eyebrow. Sort of. The sun had a way of intercepting such gestures. Then melting them. Man, fuck the sun.
“You seem nervous,” Lilith whispered into the ear of her azure-haired friend.
“…It’s… nothing…” Apphia mumbled as she turned her gaze away from Sayuri and back to the Tenth vice-captain. “I’m... excited about the new captain. Annexed to Central, many of our research projects were discontinued. With Kusajishi-taichou instated, we’ll be flourishing again.”
“Mm, I see. Then let’s greet her together then.” Lilith nudged the scientist a few paces forward. “I loosely introduced you two earlier, so it shouldn’t be a problem.”
“...Maybe a bit later..?” Apphia replied reluctantly. “There are so many high-ranking officers gathered there. I’d feel like I’m intruding.”
The vice-captain nodded, knowing that Kusajishi-taichou, Senesati-taichou, and even the inebriated Raury Feyrbrand could be an intimidating bunch. “I understand, and I'm sure you'll have plenty of time to introduce yourself later. But in any case, Sayuri looks as if she’s leaving. There’s no use in worrying if she’ll start a riot or not.”
Before Apphia could refute -- was her debacle so obvious? -- Lilith had already slipped away.
The dark-haired arcanist appeared between Raury and Kaede while greeting, “Hello everyone. It’s a pleasure to see you, Senesati-taichou. Raury.” She turned to Kaede and offered a proud smile. “And especially you, Kusajishi-taichou. I knew it would only be a matter of time before you wore the Ninth haori.”
------- In her attempt to leave the meeting, the emerald-haired Serizawa bumped into another shinigami’s shoulder. The small collision rattled the metal chains around the man’s neck and clothing. When she stopped hiding behind her hand, she saw the familiar cyan streaks that sparked like lightning through his white-blonde hair.
Hakan looked down at her and chuckled, “I don’t think I’ve ever seen you so timid, Serizawa. Is the new captain that scary? The freaky hand thing and her half-naked robot are pretty outlandish, but she seems pretty ordinary.” A smirk lined his face, the edge of his lips just tickling up against the metal plate on his cheekbone.
“Man, I hope I’m not too late. Just got up from a nap. I’m definitely not used to having order in this place again.”
In some distance, Satori sat on the wall looking through some self made binoculars which were able to fortify the words who were said in the direction one looked. And yet another nice invention of the great Nobu Satori.
He was quite fond of his inventions, but he had never the guts to show them to anyone else. If he were not this shy in front of a huge crowd, he would ask the new captain of the Ninth Division if he could join right away. But the way he was now, he could only sit on his wall and dream of him standing beside all these great and sometimes crazy scientists.
As he adjusted the volume of the heard words a little, the binoculars suddenly exploded in a loud bang, causing his face to be all black because of the dust. And yet another nice invention of the great Nobu Satori, that exploded after the first use.
"Oho you silly boy," she tease behind a raised hand as she flirted with the muscular officer.
"She's not scary at all.
"Reiatsu wise, possibly, appearance... well not so much." She flipped her hair. "Then again, you should know all too well that appearances can be very deceiving," she said with a health chuckle.
Serizawa took a glance in the captain's direction and asked, "So Hakan, what's your view of her?
“Thank you Lilith,” Kaede replied with a smile, feeling some odd sense of warmth befalling her as all these people came to congratulate her. Though, it was still a bit odd... what was supposed to be a quite, nice coming together of a handful of people... had actually turned out in a grand scale disaster of sorts.
It wasn’t really a disaster or anything, but still...
“Oh?” she began once more, noticing the rather familiar silhouette of Apphia, “didn’t know she was here along with you. Mannnn, last time we met she was also quite distant, wasn’t she?”
Through the crowd goes pair of shinigami. Keeping eye on the Hanabusa waited how this will develop. His observation interrupted some loud sound somewhere on his side. Looking on left and right he found a bald shinigami sitting some distance from him on the wall. On his head was something looking like goggle that was currently looked for damaged.
“Heh, looks like not only me likes to have gadgets to avoid the crowd,” Hajime said and turn his head back to gathered people.
Lilith…why this name sound so familiar? young scientist though after hearing name one of the women’s standing next to the captain. Turning his head back to bald man he thought for a moment and walked closer to him.
“Are you okay? Or should I call someone from Fourth to check if you haven’t any injuries after accident with your stuff?” he asked stopping before Satori.
“Meh, I don’t have an opinion of her. She’s cute, but so was Aoede… in a gremlin sort of way.” Hakan’s black eyes followed Serizawa’s as he watched the captain from across the room. “In fact, she’s almost too cute. I think she looks more like a valley girl than a scientist.”
The man scratched the growing stubble on his cheek as his fingers skimmed over the metal implantation – a memento from former Captain Saika Rakushun. The last taichou broke Hakan’s cheekbone all because he was flirting with one of the girls Saika was hot for, which, in theory, could’ve been anything that walked on two legs. With a slight chuckle, the Sixteenth Seat added, “And as long as she doesn’t smash my face in like Rakushun did, I think she’ll be all right. But that might require lesbian tendencies.”
----
“Well, she was… quite literally because she wasn’t in the same room,” Lilith replied with a light chuckle. Shifting her attention back on the blue-haired physicist, the vice-captain described, “Apphia was the one controlling the Armadado Clones during our Fruit of Labor session.”
In truth, Kaede most probably recognized Apphia from the SWA meetings. Apphia was generally a quiet woman, so her distant nature would’ve been visible then. But Lilith couldn’t possible express all that in front of so many men.
Bastien physically cringed at the woman's words. It was becoming scary how quickly dislike for him and his hair was spreading through the scientists. Either the Ninth division housed the worst gossips in all of Seireitei, or they had performed some experiment to create one giant hive-mind shared between the lot of them. Both seemed equally terrifying.
“Hair? You look to be in high fashion.” "Thanks," the blond replied, letting out a sigh of relief. He'd rather take Raury's word over a bunch of know-it-all lab rats. Though he wasn't sure just how well he could trust the redhead's opinion, either.
"Oh, you know... I've been here and there," Sébastien answered, vaguely. He frowned momentarily, not sure why he had been so vague, or why he would even need to be. "After Captain Thaleia was sent back to the Maggot's Nest, the higher ups sent me out on a series of missions and projects out in Rukongai. I've barely even been in Seireitei these last few months."
Looking at his fellow peacekeeper, Bastien couldn't help but think something wasn't right. Which was odd, considering the drunkard was nothing at all close to norm...
