[Earth][4th/V/O/3rd/1st] Week --: Operation Crashing Thunder

Status
Not open for further replies.
Too little, too late.

The shot fired in, scorching another hole into the Russian’s abdomen. Even as the blood splashed up into the air, though, the immensely long tip of his blade thrust in toward Tokiwa’s abdomen. The tip slipped in under her ribs, cutting through the muscles under her left side before piercing all the way through to rip out the other side.

With a shocking amount of restraint given his headlong rush, Kazimir halted the blade with only half a foot protruding from her back. He jerked it back out with a spray of crimson, shifting his feet and grunting as he reversed direction, bringing the weapon around in a devastating arc toward the one who kept shooting him. The pulsing red of the sword left an afterimage in the air, chased by a ribbon of blood droplets.

[140/1440]

“Oh shit, we should go back down and help them!” Colin whispered into Tatiana’s ear. His green eyes wide in shock as the blade skewered the vizard below.

“We’re here for a job, and if we can fix this damn tower then that guy has nothing else to fight for, yeah?” she responded, now scaling the tower hand over foot. A few well placed lunges had them several floors above where they started, with more than half the tower remaining. Then she too saw the ordeal below, and Caleb’s counter attack.

“I must be crazy,” she sighed, slowing her assent to keep her at the maximum range of her rifle. Taking refuge in the alcove of one window, the Russian stopped and ensured her boyfriend had a good grip. Then, taking out her firearm, she zeroed into the man with the massive sword. Exhaling, she fired a single shot at his midsection with as much force as she could muster.

[160/699]

Stuff
450 rei shot, she's on the 9th floor up, ~35 meters off the ground on her ascent. Plus 100 rei from another round of internalize Now at 46% resonance.

Pressure was all the small vizard felt as the large blade pushed through her body and out her back. While the action happened in only the fraction of a second, she could feel the blade force its way into her abdomen and rip at the soft tissues inside inch by inch. The swords edge scraped and sliced a shallow groove into the underside of her lower rib, causing an odd feeling vibration along the bone from the motion.

Beneath the alabaster face of her inner hollow, panic and fear washed over Tokiwa's face, her hybrid eyes wide as they stared at the blade the had be pushed into her. In an instant she brought hands up to grip at the sword, but before they could make contact the weapon was pulled free, slicing the bone inside just a bit deeper as the blade was yanked out.

Blood sprayed out of the fresh wound as the horned girl fell back ass and pressed her hands to the injury tightly. Rolling onto her right side, she half expected to lose consciousness at any second the way any shinigami in her place would have. The thing she had become wouldn't allow it, she wasn't very strong, but she was tougher, more resilient than a death god now and her gold irises remained focused as she held back a whimper. This wasn't the place to act dramatic.

Awkwardly, she made it to her feet again without using her hands; she refused to move them from the wound, and stumbled a bit as she ran off hunched over slightly. Pain was making itself known to her, coming in pulsating waves throughout the injury that made Toki grit her teeth, as she scurried behind a pile of rubble. The taste of iron coated her mouth as she leaned her back against rough concrete with a hushed cry when the exit wound met with the hard surface.

Adjusting herself yet again to her right side with her hands still clapped over the wound. "Chiyudo number one, Mend."

[340/1146]

The moment the weapon was loosed form the Russian’s hand, out of instinct alone time halted to a stop. His mind reeled, trying to remember the landscape around him, the map in his mind being recalled multiple times. In a burst of desperate acceleration, he attempted to move away from the blindingly fast attack.

An attack surged forth from his original location, a beam of superheated energy singling out a point of the mercenary’s chest. For the time being he appeared to be safe. However, the sudden transition of stance of the stranger was one that he had not predicted. The weapon elongated rapidly, changing direction and flying far outside of the man’s range.

It appeared as if the air itself was cut, blood spurting forth from nothing at all. A second shot erupted from invisibility, near fractions after the first strike. The second surged forth with empowered strength, aiming for the exact same site on his chest.

Caleb flicked back into view on the other side of the street, a cruel crescent cutting through the upper-right side of his chest. The blood stained the fabric of his clothes, the deep gash visible clearly. His body reacted from conditioning, reiatsu netting a protective coating around the wound to halt the bleeding.

The immense sword shot ahead from the Russian’s loosened grip, while yet more blood blasted from his abdomen, this time on the other side. Almost immediately, the second, larger shot blasted in from another angle; with a crack, fragments of blackened metal crumbled to the ground. The shot from overhead seemed hardly noticeable in comparison as it cracked against the hardened blood higher on his chest. The crimson liquid ran in small rivers down his torso, soaking completely through Kazimir’s pants. It pooled on the walkway, seeped into the grass; he was standing in a puddle of his own blood, face beginning to grow pale. Any normal human that had lost so much blood would have passed out entirely.

Instead, Kazimir grunted, snapping his grip tight on the enormous chain that trailed after the thrown weapon. His muscles bulged, burning red as he yanked back on the chain, launching the sword in a blistering arc around. The pulsing red blade skipped once off the road, sending up a small spray of sparks right in front of Caleb. Kazimir whirled, gaining speed and loosing more of the heavy chain. With another bellow of effort, the Russian twisted his aim upward and took one ponderous step forward.

The pulsing red blade slammed into the building, ripping away stone and mortar. Without missing a beat, Kazimir leaped upward, grabbing the hilt of the planted sword and vaulting up at the two fleeing agents with giant fists cocked, flecks of blood trailing behind him.

[250/1690]

Range
Kaz can air-hike, but he still won't quite reach the two of you -- instead those fists are going to slam into the wall roughly 10m below you, crumbling most of the wall beneath you.

Without time to say anything, Tatiana did the first thing that came to mind. Grabbing onto the already failing ledge, her body coiled and she kicked the Irishman behind her through the panes of glass into the building. With the remainder of her momentum Tatiana threw the bag of tools after him. He was far hardier than she was, the blow should barely wind him.

Concrete rained down, so the blonde forced her way above it all on cushions of air. Vertically at first, then to the side of the scar that was forming in the cladding of the tower. There she tried to cloak once more and took up aim at the monster of a man that was seemingly unstoppable.

Inside Colin sat looking at a spike jutting through the structure of the floor, one that nearly impaled his head in the tumble he took. The imposing spike didn’t pulse like before. Maybe that was a good sign.

“I already know what you’re thinking,” he whispered as if he was still next to Tatiana. Getting up and gathering what he needed, the Irishman made his way around the labyrinth interior of the building and spikes towards the stairs.

Taking a moment he pulled out the Chealon pill syringe and injected his left arm. At the very least should the hostile Russian man not be alone, Colin knew he could be very forceful with his smart ass remarks.

[238/937]

Stuff
Colin is making his way to the top through what ever stairs he can find, and popped a chealon shot.

Tatiana meanwhile just used one last round of internalize, two air hikes to get clear of the collapsing wall, and re-activated her cloak mid jump. She's at 70% resonance.

Kazimir fell with the crumbling wall, dropping heavily toward his embedded sword. The Russian’s eyes flicked up toward Tatiana, flat and uninterested. As he fell, Kazimir reached out and caught the immense haft of the weapon, grunting as he twisted his many wounds. Immediately on contact, the blade flared to life again, the matte black pulsing with life. He kicked, heightening his momentum; the blade twisted as he swung, planting his feet against the wall of the tower. There he paused for just the slightest moment, his eyes fixing on something below him.

He twisted and shoved off of the wall, throwing himself downward and ripping the sword from the wall in the same motion. The Russian came down in a mad whirl, a deadly scythe of glowing red aiming right for the last member of their merry band: Rune.

[140/1830]

The blue-haired mechanist observed the Russian's movements impassively, seemingly still trying to come to a consensus as to the giant's relative strength when the unmitigated fury of the freelancer was brought down upon Rune, literally.

Or at least that's what Kazmir had hoped.

Unfortunately, the mechanist would prove far slipperier than anticipated; what the savant-like youth lacked in battle capability, he more than made up for with his ingenuity. Space bent around the blue-haired boy as Kazmir's blade split the air above Rune's head, light and radiation emanating from the mechanist's orbiting automation before, with a 'pop' Kaisen Karakuri appeared between the Russian and its master, emerging from whatever fringe space it had traversed mere moments before the massive red blade bisected Rune.

The ringing of steel on steel sounded as the floating automation's body intercepted the attack, its minuscule boosters burning brightly as it fought against the sheer energy behind Kazmir's strike, it's bank of optical sensors rolling in their sockets to focus on the Russian. Plating caved as the crimson sword pressed down on the tiny machine, sending sparks flying as delicate internal circuits were crushed beneath the guillotine-like blade, but still the little automaton held firm.

"Oh."

Grey eyes turned upward calmly as Rune laid eyes on the giant freelancer, before turning to Kaisen Karakuri.

"Structural damage is within acceptable limits." the boy muttered impassively, reaching for the Gravekeeper clasped to his hip. "...Route power from non-essential systems and initiate counter attack."

With a few blips and whirs, the hovering automation once again began to thrum with energy, the small laser between its 'eyes' rotating upward to face Kazmir before issuing another burst of burning light. Drawing his sidearm in a swift and trained motion, the mechanist rounded the Gravekeeper on the white-haired giant and squeezed the trigger.

[Juuji Tentou] - じゅうじてんとう
“Cross Counter” - 25% Resonance

Upon reaching 25% Resonance, Rune’s control over Kaisen Karakuri’s initial form reaches its peak. By exercising this extreme degree of technopathic mastery, Rune can direct his puppet to block inbound attacks. Once every other turn, if Rune would be struck by an attack, he can instead pay 5% of his reiatsu to have Kaisen Karakuri intercept and deflect the attack. The total value of the deflected attack cannot exceed the amount paid into Juuji Tentou. Mechanically, each attack deflected by this ability is counted as a ‘dodge’ towards Senkoutaihou Kata.

...and used the proc of STK to shoot back with his GK, plus one more laser blast for good measure. Laser is ~250 and bullet is 275 (lol). So not much to deal with, but...

Both blasts smashed against Kazimir’s chest with a metallic snap, a web of cracks appearing in the hardened sheet of blood covering his abdomen. Without missing a single beat, the giant Russian pulled back on his leading hand and punched forward with the other, the massive iron haft of his weapon swinging right for the technoshaman’s head.

Not finished there, Kazimir rolled with that wicked momentum, spinning a full circuit with a low growl of effort. He planted his feet, cracking the concrete walkway below as the pulsing red blade whipped around, the flattened edge speeding right for Rune’s ribcage.

[100/1930]

Reiatsu flooded the mechanist's synapses as Kazmir counter attacked, the sudden rush of spiritual energy causing his perception of time to slow to a crawl. Impassively, grey eyes watched as the wrought iron cudgel sped towards him. Vectors and calculations poured through Rune's mind; a few precious nanoseconds spent determining the best course of action before, with another surge of arcane energy, the mechanist moved. Ducking low, the boy watched as the hilt of the Russian's weapon sailed over his head, its movements painfully exaggerated by the Advent's bolstered senses.

With a skilful display of agility, especially for a man of his stature, the giant swordsman planted his feet and pivoted, using the momentum of his first swing to bring the massive sanguine blade around for another clash. Muscles flexed as the crouched mechanist pumped his legs, springing upwards in an attempt to clear the second swing.

But his own ability was lacking. The Russian was too fast. Even with reiatsu-enhanced senses, the boy couldn't dodge cleanly. He could see the blade coming, but his flesh couldn't keep up with his mind. All he could do is brace himself for the inevitable impact when it came. And come it did; the full force of Kazmir's strike connecting against the meat of Rune's legs. All at once, time seemed to leap back into focus -- the flat of the crimson blade slamming into the mechanist's thighs and sending him tumbling head over heels -- careening across the pavement painfully like a stone skipped across water, before landing in a bloody heap against a nearby building.

Letting out a muffled cry, the young boy struggled to try and get to his feet, but quickly fell flat. The strike had surely broken his legs. Focusing his reiatsu, Rune directed healing energies to the area, squelching the pain screaming at his mind. Turning his cold gaze back towards the Russian, who had thankfully ignored Rune's damaged companion, the boy's voice rang across the battleground, a shaky but stern command uttered to the floating automation.

"Engage riemann matrix. Initiate superluminal transfer. Kaisen Karakuri, mark two, permutation gamma."

With an affirmative blip, and what one might consider a nod, Rune's companion lit up. Reiatsu burst from the machine in wild gouts of arcane power as space and time were once more bent to the little robot's will. Underneath it, a grid-like structure of consolidated reishi formed, and within its confines something truly wondrous began to appear. Like a living blueprint, the pocket of spacetime generated by the device began to fill with parts and pieces of a far grander machination, snapping together one by one around Kaisen Karakuri. As the light faded and the flares of reiatsu subsided, a wholly different beast emerged from the space the diminutive automation had once occupied; a massive and heavily armored humanoid robot of unparalleled complexity and technological power stomping forward to face the Russian.

Inside it's armored 'head', a set of familiar blue optic sensors turned to face Kazmir. With a deep mechanical groan, the automation hefted its left arm; a massive blade snapping over its three-pronged hand and locking into place. Twin gouts of flame burst from exhaust ports near its elbow as the machinae locked onto its target before, with the ear-splitting, guttural roar of jet turbines, the device sprung into action. Sparks showered over the battle ground as Kaisen Karakuri's metal feet skidded along the pavement at mach speeds, its massive bayonet roaring hungrily as it's deadly point sped towards the Russian giant.

Domo arigatou, Mr. Roboto

Rune used Neotic Inertia to not get insta-gib'd, but still took a massive hit to his legs, breaking them. He then activated his True Awakening and summoned his actual mech, in its Gamma form shown below;

[Kaisen Karakuri Agility Model γ]
Combat: 10% (1,850)
Fortitude: 20% (3,630)
Agility: 70% (12,705)

[Hyoumenkatou] - ひょうめんかとう
“Buster Sword” - 50% Resonance

Taking the form of a massive blade that adorns the machine’s left arm, Hyomenkatou is a force to be reckoned with. Far more than a simple knife, the weapon contains a clip and firing mechanism capable of shooting a high-caliber round deep into the blades core. When ‘fired’, the force of the round striking causes the blade to reverberate violently -- exponentially increasing its cutting power. In addition, the extreme pressure from this contained firing is vented in such a way as to thrust the machine forward with each swing -- pushing Kaisen Karakuri into a high-speed dash with each use, with each dash moves the machine a maximum of one meter for every 1k in the machine’s Agility stat to a maximum of ten meters. Each use costs Rune 5% of his reiatsu. This ability may only be activated once per round.

...Which then dashed at Kazmir with Buster Sword and tried to stab the hell out of him. Rune is also salving his wounds and regenerating reiatsu thanks to Kinkou, for a net gain of 400 reiatsu per round.

“Why did the lift have to be out?” Colin asked no one in particular. Still, why did it have to be stairs? He hated stairs. The Irish tech huffed his way up the flights, pausing now and then to catch his breath and map out where the spikes jutted out above him. If this building made any sense, he was getting close to the hub that needed looking at. He could only hope that here weren’t some spike prone to pulsing sticking through them.

Far below, Tatiana dropped several floors while gripping the wall, then paused. Taking in a deep breath she focused on the mammoth man and his equally imposing sword. He was moving fast and harassing all of them, he needed to be slowed down. Better yet, he needed to be hurt in a way that would stop him in the long run.

Narrowing down a shot on his upper thigh, Tatiana aimed to fracture a pelvic bone. The bullet became shrouded in the energy she used to cloak herself from the perception of others. With a crack the round fired towards the other Russian present at the battle.

[191/1128]

Things used
Tatiana is still cloaked, so 100 rei, 100 rei from internalize to halt her momentum down the building hulk style, then the bullet is 450 rei infused with Slender. Aimed with 2000 combat. She also just hit 100% resonance as of this turn.

Resonance: Slender
Tatiana's abilities at evading detection become far deadlier with her resonance ability. While hidden from the senses of her target, she can pay 5% of her reiatsu into a single attack. The attack itself deals normal damage, but it becomes cloaked in much the same way Tatiana was. Unless the damage is major or causes a limb to be severed, the target she hits fails to even notice it. As such, this is more liable to cause her enemies to bleed out.

Caleb raised his arms instinctively, the superheated sparks of metal singing the sleeves of his jacket. He continued to breathe out heavily, the increased exhaustion of this desperate acceleration affecting him. That being said, he could feel his powers reaching the next stage of their strength, as he unlocked his abilities further.

Gray reiatsu hardened and shattered around Caleb, falling to pieces like dozens of shards of glass. Four reticles appeared around him. The map in his mind became clearer, the information of the layout of the battlefield being detailed. He observed a single dot in the center of the tower, recognizing it as Colin beginning to make his way through. For now, he didn’t have much other choice than to attempt to distract the inhuman freelancer as much as possible.

The sniper disappeared from view, another burst of reiatsu cloaking him for a brief moment. At the same time he jumped further back, repositioning towards the front a nearby building. Through the stealth he fired another salvo, the blinding attack surging forward at Kazimir’s head.

1050 in the Noblesse Shot. Caleb's progressively trying to back up and re-position himself away from Kazimir so he can, you know, be a sniper.

That being said he also activated stealth before firing shot so it should trigger his TA ability.

GoldenEye - 50% Resonance

While most of Caleb’s reiatsu is continuously cycled through him in True Awakening, he can impart a portion of his reiatsu into a weapon he is carrying to dramatically increase it’s efficiency. Specifically, he can greatly augment the base firing range of a weapon, fitting for his long distance playstyle. Passively this augments the range of his weapons, allowing them to gain 5 meters of effective firing range for every 1,000 Combat with a cap of 60 meters additional range at 12,000 Combat. He must pay 1% of his reiatsu to augment the range of his shots.

However, GoldenEye’s true strength comes from its ability to strike undetected and without allowing the target a moment of preparedness. If the target is unaware of Caleb’s visual location when they are struck by an attack, the severity of the wound dealt by the attack is immediately increased by one level; however, major wounds cannot be elevated to fatal.

The Russian burst into motion at the sight of the automaton. There was no hesitation and no mercy. The haft of his weapon snapped up, faster than the robot’s burst of acceleration. In harsh staccato, two clangs and a vicious squeal filled the air; the base of the haft crushed the machine’s lower torso, halting its momentum; one massive booted foot hammered into the thing’s chest, blowing it backward; the pulsing red blade scythed down from above, cleaving the creation from shoulder to hip. Oil and sparks spewed from the bifurcated robot, spraying Kazimir in equal measure.

Caleb’s laser seared in right above the Russian’s ear, scorching through the hair and flesh there, briefly revealing stark white bone before blood caught up, quickly concealing the grievous wound.

With a snarl, Kazimir spun, the blade of his weapon held behind him as he burst into a run. The angle of the laser was enough to guess the direction of the attacker. Blood spread down his leg from a new wound, but if it slowed him down, it didn’t show at all.

[180/2110]

The mechanist's eyes narrowed as he watched the sword-wielding giant tear into his prized machination, rending the massive automation nearly in two and throwing it aside without a second thought. Skidding along the pavement, leaking oil and hydraulic fluid like so much blood, Kaisen Karakuri's optic sensors sputtered and flickered as its strength failed; its giant mechanical head shakily turning to survey the damage.

Suddenly, the machine's power levels spiked, a sharp blue glow emanating from deep within its shattered body as various subsystems sprung to life. Sparks showered over the downed automation as its self-repair subroutines began to slowly stitch the device back together. Slowly, Kaisen Karakuri rose to its feet, its robotic brain verifying the structural integrity of its slap-dash repairs before refocusing its attention on the freelancer.

At Rune's mental whim, the automation began to reconfigure; it's massive bayonet flipping back into its body while on the opposite arm, an even more imposing weapon snapped into place over the machine's three-pronged hand. While it appeared, for all intents and purposes to be a large rifle of some variety, the true nature of Kaisen Karakuri's primary armament was far more arcane in nature. The remnants of the Order's WHITE HORSE, and its advanced beam-weaponry in particular, had been re-purposed and refined in Rune's automation. And now the sum of its might and power was directed squarely at Kazmir.

The battleground lit up as the weapon charged, bathed in a sickly, crimson glow as Shikei pulled on the mechanist's reiatsu for power before, with a crash like thunder, the very air before Kaisen Karakuri was set aflame; a massive piercing beam of sanguine energy streaking towards the Russian with deadly intent.

“Fumetsu no Jōyaku”

Equipped with advanced on-board diagnostic tools, Kaisen Karakuri is capable of a degree of self-repair during battle. At Rune’s whim, by expending 5% of his reiatsu, Kaisen Karakuri’s automatic reconstruction suite activates, slowly repairing any damage to the chassis of the automation over the course of several turns.

-Minor damage to exterior plating or non-vital apparatus can be repaired in 2 rounds.
-Moderate damage to exterior plating or mechanical substructure can be repaired in 3 rounds.
-Major damage to chassis, such as missing limbs, or severe damage to internal components can be repaired completely in 5 rounds, provided the missing components are placed on or within Kaisen Karakuri.

[Shikei] - しけい
“Death Penalty” - 50% Resonance

Never one to be out done -- especially by a prototype -- Rune has refined the rather slapdash beam weaponry of Pale Horse into its current form -- aptly named Shikei. Consisting of two long barrels with several reiatsu-channeling foils positioned along its body, Shikei is capable of firing thin shells energy equal to 2% of Rune's reiatsu. In addition, the attacks output is increased with continuous fire -- gaining an additional 2% per use to a maximum of 10%. No more than one turn may pass between uses of Shikei for this effect to apply. Should Rune go more than one turn without firing, the stacks generated by this ability are lost. On the fifth firing, the weapon enters an overcharged state -- capable of firing one beam attack equal to 10% of Rune’s reiatsu. This beam is capable of homing in on an individual target of Rune’s choosing. After firing an overcharged shot, Shikei must cool and as such cannot be fired again for two turns following an overcharged activation

Shit shit shit shit...this guy just keeps going. We aren't going to be able to do this. Even if we do survive, everyone is going to be too broken to move. Tokiwa watched the battle taking place from her hiding spot behind a pile of concrete and twisted re-bar, her brows furrowed under Waruagaki's menacing face. How long ago had she yelled at Shukumei for even suggesting that she run away and hide during a battle? She hated the idea of retreating, but when she felt threatened she had done just that. It was reminiscent of her behavior as a Shinigami, always afraid of injury, running out on a team when they needed the support of even her. It had been done already however, and she knew standing her ground in this case would only end with her being cut down and leaving this life behind. She wasn't ready for that.

Slowly, carefully, the horned girl lifted her bloodied hand from the wound on her abdomen to examine the damage that had been done by the hulking Russian's blade. The Vizard was actually quite surprised at how good it looked already. The bleeding had stopped all together -that was a plus- and a nice scab had formed on the entrance wound. With both hands, she lightly attempted to pull the stab open again, it held together. Her lips parted with a sigh of relief, that was going to have to do for now.

What? Did you think I was useless when it came to injuries? Patching up this soft vessel of ours benefits me as well, little Toki. Give me the credit I deserve! Waruagaki's voice filled her skull, thundering over her own thoughts, but still far from the surface.

I give you plenty of cred-

"...That's fantastic." Gold and black orbs watched in wide-eyed amazement as an automaton, in nearly totaled condition, began to knit itself back together, he red haired girl had never seen anything like it.

[334/1480]

Her countryman was not stopping. No matter how much he bled, no matter how much they attacked, he just kept going. The man was like an infernal battery bunny from those commercials Colin had shown her. This was a war of attrition, and he was winning.

Exhaustion was abated only by the rush of combat. She steadied herself and not wanting to cause further undue exertion dropped the cloaking the wrapped her like a familiar blanket. Popping back the action on her rifle she reloaded, and then fired once more at the hulking Russian below, just in time to see the automaton unleash a brilliant beam.

Far above, Colin made his way around the last of the spikes on the final landing he could reach. Holding his breath until he made it past, he sighed with relief. Now, what direction to go? His ascent left him disoriented. Oh how it would suck if he had to go all the way downstairs just to get the damn lights on. Popping a flap slightly open he toggled the LED light on his phone to try and make his way through the last of the darkened building.

“Left it is,” the Irishman whispered to himself, trudging along while keeping a sharp eye out for trouble.

[212/1340]

Stuff
Nothing fancy this turn, just a 450 shot. She's till at 100%, having spent... so far 3100 this combat on various things. Battle of attrition, yay!

Colin is also at the top, and likely going to realize there's no way to get the power on from the floor he's on.

Kazimir slid to a sudden stop, whirling to his right, with his bare hand leading. With an animalistic shout, the Russian backhanded the beam of energy while Tatiana’s bullet tore into his shoulder. No ordinary punch, the reiryoku coiling through his hand engulfed the beam of energy, overwhelmed it, sent it careening straight back at the machine it came from.

He wasn’t finished there, however.

Long legs straining, the Russian leaped and ran back along the beam’s path, nearly a blur as he jumped high over the robot before the desperate shot exploded. Eyes wild, Kazimir brought the blade in front of him, point downward. The red tip sliced in just below Rune’s collarbone, rending the mechanist’s flesh and shearing through bone. The blade shoved downward, cracking a shoulder-blade before sinking into the ground underneath.

Kazimir was breathing heavily, his skin pale as blood soaked most of his form. Some of it pulsed but most just dribbled lazily down to the ground. Sweat rolled down his face, his long white hair drenched in it, along with blood, oil, and hydraulic fluid.

With a grunt, Kazimir slammed a foot into his blade right above the boy’s chest while yanking back on the pommel. With a loud metallic snap, the tip of the blade was broken off, left embedded in Rune and the ground beneath him. Kazimir turned around, stumbling before catching his balance.

“It is time no more,” the Russian muttered, his normally-clear Japanese becoming choppy. His head was hanging weakly, dirtied bangs shrouding his face, except for that grin. He staggered a step forward, grinning wildly as his broken sword scraped along the concrete behind him.

Blood liberally covered the battlefield: Rune’s, Tokiwa’s, and mostly, Kazimir’s. More blood than could ever fill a single human body had been spilled, but even the Russian’s supply did not appear limitless. With his reiatsu continuing to pulse erratically -- at times as strong as a Vasto Lorde, at others weak as a kitten, and every grade of strength in between – it was impossible to tell just how drained he actually was. The pulses of red light and reiatsu were gradually slowing, however, becoming heavy, dull. Each pulse came slower, with longer gaps in between.

“Chance of victory no more,” he muttered, following with a shuddering laugh.

For long moment there was no pulse at all. The sword in his hand dulled to black and stayed that way.

Then there was a heavy thump, not just a sound but a physical force felt in the chest of all those around. Red light pulsed – not just from the sword or the blood painted on Kazimir’s body. Every speck of blood in sight flashed with bright red light. The pulses began slow but began speeding up. As they did, the Russian also regained his stride.

Blood flowed across the ground, sucked in toward the pool at Kazimir’s feet: whose blood didn’t matter, every speck of flashing pulsing crimson rushed along the ground, drawn inexorably toward the growing mass of plasma. Blood curled in streams, reaching through the air to coil back in through his wounds, filling his body with life and energy. His pallor warmed, his muscles flexed. Wounds did not heal but not a drop of blood spilled from them. No, instead, blood erupted from them, hardening in jagged spikes and serrated ridges, every burn and cut and bullet hole a new weapon adorning his body.

Still more blood churned at his feet. Like a river, it flooded up his body, down the length of his sword, repairing the broken tip, with still more clinging and dripping from the edges.

Kazimir’s muscles tightened and then he scythed the sword through the air in a broad arc. Blood flew from the blade, splatters and crescents and droplets that hardened into blades and flew straight toward Caleb and Tatiana.

[640/2750]

A gurgling cough sounded from behind Kazmir; a meek gasp of air cut short by a bloody hack as the blue-haired mechanist struggled for breath. The Russian's attack had split his collar bone apart, and the sheer power of the strike had pushed the sanguine blade's deadly edge further towards the boy's chest cavity. He was certain that he was bleeding internally.

Perhaps it was over for him. The prospects were certainly looking grim, and it was taking every spare ounce of the mechanist's will, not to mention his spiritual energy, just to stay conscious.

So much left undone.

He might have sighed to himself, if he could. If this was to be his end, he would make it an end to be remembered.

"L-Limiter release, access code RSO25H129. Initiate Omega protocol."

A sharp crack of static echoed across the battleground as the command reached Kaisen Karakuri's smoldering form, its reiatsu surging forth; a dark, sinister and oppressive aura totally unlike its master's. No, this energy was decidedly Hollow in nature.

The optic sensors of the machine, still focused on Kazmir, began to shift from their usual, brilliant blue, to a dark crimson as the various internal locks and limiters were lifted at Rune's behest. Deep inside the machine, some otherworldly automation thrummed to life, spouting plumes of exhaust from the cracks in Kaisen Karakuri's armor and causing the whole machine to take on a super-heated glow.

The Russian no longer faced Rune's prized automation and friend. This was not Kaisen Karakuri.

This was the WHITE HORSE.

Beneath its armored head, hydraulics began to hiss and whine as they were pushed aside by something decidedly organic bound beneath the plating. With a crack, the machine's helm split into a wicked, fleshy maw; hollowborne flesh melded with arcane machinery.

Letting out an earsplitting, inhuman battle cry, the gestalt-creature began its attack.

In the blink of an eye, it was on top of the Russian man, three-pronged hands fastened tightly around his throat. Squeezing hard against the meager pile of flesh in its hands, the machinae pulled Kazmir close, letting out another ghastly roar that splattered the freelancer with blood and oil, oblivious to the crimson spires that pierced its body.

Watching the frantic scene, Rune's cold gaze caught Kazmir's, and for the first time the mechanist spoke directly to the man.

"I-It will not stop," he sputtered meekly. "...Not for me. Not for anyone."

“Ultima Weapon” - 100% Resonance

Upon reaching 100% Resonance, Rune gains access to Kaisen Karakuri’s Omega form. By sacrificing 90% of his remaining Reiatsu, in addition to 10% bonus gained from his Overdrive, the mechanist can force his robotic puppet into a super-charged state -- representing the pinnacle of its combat potential. For two turns following activation each of Kaisen Karakuri’s stats are increased to 100% of its total energy, granting it massively increased speed, damage and defense. While in this state, the machine cannot utilize any of its equipped weapons and is limited to melee attacks. Once it’s time limit is reached, Kaisen Karakuri must revert to its initial form, as remaining in its overdriven state can cause substantial damage to its systems.

He breathed in a coarse breath, the sheer force, and at times the lack there of, overwhelming him. How was the man, no the monster still moving? Even in the realm of awakened humans, Caleb had always assumed there were limits that couldn’t be broken. The sheer amount of blood spilt was staggering, one that sickened even a veteran like him.

However, there wasn’t time for such thoughts. Time slowed once more, to a standstill all things considering. In this moment, he felt his powers spike up once again. What was once simply his awakening had transformed to their final, and most potent state. It was a death wish, but the pragmatist in him knew that trying to run would be all but futile. He mapped the trajectory in his mind, the possible motions he could have made. It was all too slow. Besides that, fear had all but nailed him to the ground.

One shot, one response. If the Russian was responding with force, what other choice did he have than react with proportionate response?

The Noblesse in his hand shown with a brilliant light, the four reticles of his Awakening lining up in a straight shot. A similar one appeared above the mercenary’s head, though the blades of blood had rendered it invisible to him. However, sight was trivial in this state.

The reiatsu collected in the barrel, the reticles suddenly expanding rapidly in front of him. “Target locked,” he said in an emotionless voice, one that was far removed from the personality he usually possessed. With little fanfare, and acceptance of the reparations he squeezed the trigger.

A piercing cry echoed outwards, the reticles spinning wildly the ground fracturing at the shot. A searing beam of white erupted outwards, the attack ripping through and fracturing the ground as it passed. With a clean exit, it erupted through the blades directly in front of it, vaporizing them in an instant but still passing forward. The searing laser cascaded through, threatening to engulf him cleanly and completely, piercing through Kaisen Karakuri’s head and seeking the Russian’s next.

In almost acceptance Caleb relaxed his grip, the remaining blades cascading over him, slicing and piercing through his body haphazardly. Shredded simply and purely, crimson ribbons of blood erupted from his wounds. Where there was man original, remained little more than what appeared to be a ruined man in a pool of blood.

Fitting really.

Neotic Inertia to get into OD... and then OD. Caleb's... not going to be doing much... other than bleeding... pretty much forever. Remember that one Byakuya moment that immediately got retconned by Kubo. Caleb looks like that. Kubo pls.

OD damage: 15,387

Casino Royale - 100% Resonance

At maximum resonance, Caleb’s reiatsu reaches its pinnacle strength. Due to the continuous cycling of his reiatsu through his body, in Overdrive, he capable of releasing it immediately. His analytical strength wildly scales, allowing to plot of of hundreds of possible vectors of attack. The targeting reticles of his awakening appear in front of him, before multiplying to match the number of targets. A virtual representation of his Reiatsu Nouken range expands around him, enemy targets appearing as red dots.

The reticles appear over their targets, as he locks onto them all simultaneously. By paying 30% of his reiatsu, he can launch a devastating attack, simultaneously firing at all targets at once. The damage of the attack is split between the number of targets he selects. The bullets fired rip through mundane objects with ease and carry the effects of the base tech Pierce. He can choose to augment each shot with a single bullet type of his choice. The range of this ability is his Reiatsu Nouken range.

Tokiwa couldn't be one hundred percent certain about the way this battle was leaning, but it was looking like the man that had engaged the small tech group was beginning to slow down. There was a good chance that maybe, just maybe, the monstrous Russian was weakening despite the fact that he had coated himself in an armor of blood spikes. Yet, she couldn't help but feel a bit wary of get the hulking man's attention once more.

The situation wasn't made any better by the thing that had been sicked on Kazimir. The injured boy had said something about not being able to stop it...that wasn't exactly reassuring.

A low growl echoed loudly in the hybrid's mind, Waruagaki was getting restless, not enough damage had been dealt by Toki in this scuffle. How troublesome these Advents where at times, the stronger ones where particularly difficult to draw blood from. As far as the Hollow was concerned, his host had wasted enough time hiding, it was time to move. I thought you wanted to show everyone that the Army of Masks wasn't something to laugh at. You aren't helping that image sitting here like some child! I didn't help you survive just so you could 'sit this on out' and let the humans do all the work!

A pale hand gripped a section of re-bar firmly, the rest of the metal pole buried deep within a slab of broken concrete. There was no point in arguing with her personal demon, he was right this time. She could feel Waru's eagerness to jump in, to spill blood and take the Russian down. Images shuffled through the redhead's mind of different ways she could finish him by just rushing in now. In a few of them she pulling the man apart, in others she had managed to work her blade into him, carving him up into a gory mess.

Sanity still had it's hold on the young looking Vizard however, and she knew that none of those things would ever happen if she gave into the desire. She'd be slaughtered if she even got close to the man. If not by him, then by the creature that had been unleashed.

Heaving a sigh, Tokiwa climbed on top of the pile of rubble that had served her well as she waited for her injury to stop bleeding. With not getting near the mess first on her mind, Toki pulled her arm back as one would if they were going to release a punch, except with fingers point straight out and pressed tight together. A swirling red energy gathered around the digits, turning and folding until it had formed a glowing red orb the size of a baseball.

Rapidly, the horned girl extended her arm forward, releasing the orb and sending it speeding towards Kazimir's head.
