Pre-Post-Script: Rob and Beaks - you guys should read each others' chapters for the week. There's a strong, strong similarity in context, style and execution of your stories. Hell, one could do a paper on their comparatives. That is all.

Robin:

Masked Obedience
50/51

Goooooood build-up! I love how it was a little troubling throughout, right up until the end, when you think it's time to settle then BAM! Yanked up by the collar. I'm seriously eager for the shitstorm throwdown. Very vivid imagery, too. Well done. I knocked a point because some preposition-ending sentences (though, that really comes from Latin, where it wasn't improper, just didn't work), a spelling error and a few comma placings/vacancies that I know you won't agree with! MUAHAHAH

blame the mountain dew in me

Beakinator:

It Was A Mistake To Do This At A Funeral
52/52

Great imagery, here. I could almost read this is a transcript and see/hear it play out as a scene in a movie. I can only grab at what context I think this is relating to, but, if I had to guess, I'd guess a few things: The struggle that Tusbaki faces with having lost her old zan/spirit and the effects its having on her with the new one - The internal struggle, sans new spirit, from aforementioned change - general angst and fight to suppress/deal with the torrent that reflects on Tsubaki's outlook on all the recent dealings with the Gotei and C46. Whether I be right on point or completely wrong, it doesn't really matter because it's a captivating read. I genuinely enjoy seeing you write again and it gives me hope you will stay active or become more active with it. I didn't get to read your stuff when you were busiest but I'm here now, damn it. Write.

Selfishly yours,

Cad.

KATIEDID

Stages Of Grief
55/55

First, I'm sorry to say I am not familiar with chapters 1-3. Second, I love that you are still writing about Raifuku. I am trying to pursue that as well and I don't think/know if enough people are still doing so. It was a big deal and should have lasting effects in their universe. +1 Gold Star for that.

Great, great chapter. I think it's very clear that you are a natural writer. A lot of us work at it and develop with practice - I know you have a history of writing and, perhaps, it's just come with the practice, but, based on what I'm reading, it seems like you do this with as much ease and natural talent as you would laughing...if that makes sense. If it doesn't, shove off. I didn't know anything about Echo or Orie before this chapter. I wasn't even 75% through before I felt I knew exactly who they were - that says a lot. Orie is to Echo what Alfred is to Batman? First comparison I thought of - heard Michael Kayne in my head, "I won't bury you. I've buried enough members of the Wayne family".

At first, I was a little put off at the cliche scene of a frustrated warrior, taking it out in training. Seemed like it's been done before. But what hasn't? After reading it fully, though, my mind was changed, completely. Echo's motivations seem genuine and very, very real. The fact that she would bend to Orie at the end, even if just a little, expresses a dynamic in her I like to see. Good work.

Al – Tooth and Fang
Good to see a little training here between Zak and his sword spirit. It’s an interesting route how you took the manga approach and had two separate forms for you shikai and bankai, even more so since the Amazonian fighter concept was perfect for Kalu’aita. The foreshadowing at the end with the red wolf was a nice addition, though it kind of spoiled it a tad bit too much for my tastes.

Other than that, the fighting and narration was superb and your flow was spot on. From what I’ve read from you this whole time, you’ve sort of been building up to this kind tribal, bestial motif for Zak. Using the concept of wolves as your thematic element fits the character, and my only suggestion would be to keep that pace going as you’re in the right direction. I kinda wat’d at myself when I read the description about Kalu being Remus and Romulus’ mom, but I suppose that’s a nice allusion to the whole mythos of it.

Grade: 149 + 50 Division Bonus

Vin – After the Mountain
More dialogue in this one compared to narration. Still, it worked out alright, being a sort of enlightening collab for Zakki. It kind of got iffy halfway through though with the constant rebuttal of questions and answers, but whatever. Hisui revealing himself to Zakki as a shinigami was a ballsy move on his part, so props to that. Other than that really, nothing really major set things off either for Zakki or Garren. Ending on a plus, there were no grammatical errors that I’ve seen.

Grade: 62 + 15 Division Bonus

Mewn – Mountain Dew // Shake N Bake
Relatively same comments for you if you’d look up at Vinny’s post. Again, Zakki’s two-faced nature shows with his interaction with two separate characters. I actually lol’d a bit at how he can be pretty passive aggressive and dick-ishly creepy to some (Tod) and so understandingly helpful to others (Garren). What I will say, though, is try and find a dominant trait that’ll bleed over to the other. Whether if it’s dick-Zakki or bro-Zakki, try and find something of a middle ground that’ll show regardless of who you’re collabing with, close ally or otherwise. Other than that, everything seems chipper.

Grade: 61 (Mountain) + 41 (V/C) = 102 + 15 Division Bonus

I have a hundred excuses and none of them good. If my lateness has offended, I'll write a character into my RPG Maker project named after yours.

Bish
You get 100 Dviision. Not a lot of time to explain why.

Constructive Interference
Maybe Adelaide should've been gentler to Satoru in her training sessions? He's kinda ridic sometimes. Did you mean Yuurei when you referenced the Third Seat or was that a premature promotion? The only important part is your use of Koutaizumai, which I might've misread. You cannot project an illusion, you can only be an illusion. The illusion is where Satoru is, the illusion is not where Satoru is not. Life lessons. Also, Adelaide is more than willing to mentor Satoru in actual kidou training like she does others. Good work on that 'repair your image' thing, though. Progress made.
105/107

Dys
Take division bonus. 50 of it. Low on time, comments got shorter.

Constructive Interference
So, I'm reminded of the comments Van made on your Shikai, you might want to explain Adele's collection of 'modern' music in a chapter at some point. So, for that matter, should Satoru. But your spar here made me want to do an actual, proper training with you. No items, no techniques, just Adelaide teaching swordplay and kidou. She's pretty passionate about both and is gaining some cred as a teacher, you might want to seek her out. For instance, she'll teach you that jabs are faster than swings. I like how you and Satoru both grew closer here... maybe a lot closer? I still ship Adele and Tabby.
106/107

Road Trip VII

I'm not sure you can not sleep, maybe run that by a higher-up? But other than that, quality work as usual. Wish I had more time to say more about it. Also, I'm pretty sure you mentioned her falling asleep early in this road trip series, around District Three? So deducting for inconsistancy. But yeah. Quality is solid.

Road Trip VIII
When starting a new paragraph but continuing dialogue, do not close the quote in the first paragraph, but put an open quote mark in the second. I know I've done this in our collabs so you should be able to find examples. More comments available upon request.
110/113

Road Trip IX: Ending All Too Soon
I had budgeted my time grading thinking you and Wayne had two chapters each. So I'm not crazy-rushed. Apologies. Not a lot to say other than an onsen adventure is more fun with Adelaide involved.
77/77

Wayne
Enjoy your grades, they almost lost me my damn kan.

That Which Drives a Man
I like how this was executed. A random NPC chapter pivots into a PC plot point. Maybe even a larger event, who knows? Sorry for the truncated comments. Full points.
73/73

That Which Frightens a Man
"I swear to god!" "You're swearing to one." Cute. Real cute. Very Batman. Full points. Short comments. No time.
56/56

That Which Confounds a Man
I like where this is going. I won't be grading you, but I will be following you. Good going.

Final Grace [329/333]

So first, the plus sides. In terms of how you set this all up it was great. I love the sense of tension, the narrow escapes and the way Rudo's emotions flickered from one state to another so quickly. The other thing that I was really happy with was the introduction of Q power right at the very end.

Now the issues I had were two-fold. One was just missed proofreading that you could have caught up with but rushed through and the second was a bit of the sense that you'd put two sections that might do better as separate parts together. Those were my only issues though.

Tod

WWE&B [39/41]

Well good job, good buddy. I only dropped a couple of points for a few proofing issues but otherwise things were great. We've talked about Tod a lot as a character so you know my feelings about him :D
