She sat straight up, the soft mattress of the makeshift hospital beds in the tournament area comforting her. Lucia breathed out, forcing herself up and to her feet. Her left hand traced over her right lung, as lightly touched the fabric of the black jacket she was wearing. The life-threatening wound had been sealed and repaired by her own medics. It seemed almost backwards to her. She sighed, beneath the multiple layers of fabrics still waited the two deep scars caused by the Soutaichou’s weaponry.

She looked down, grabbing the blade of Fusei from the small side table that waited next to each of the cots. Her mind was still distracted, the words her spirit had whispered to her while she was in surgery echoing in her mind still. All the while, the lavender-haired woman was distracted from the mechanisms of the world around her.

It was for that very reason that she didn’t hear or sense Haresuno’s approach until he was already sitting down on a vacant cot not far away. With a smirk, the Founder-Captain laid his staff against the wall and said, “Well that’s a sight. Lucia Amaterasu-Frey without a smile.”

He waited for her to turn around, and the smirk turned into a full grin. Tall, even while sitting down, Haresuno’s cyan eyes focused on Lucia as if silently measuring her worth. While not imposing in build there was an air to the Founder-Captain reminiscent of the dark jungle, and all the unseen dangers that lurked.

The sudden appearance of the Founder Captain caught the healer off guard. She shifted back in surprise. It took her a moment to regain her composure as a surprisingly cold look appeared on her face. “Can I help you Captain Uchiharu?” she replied, before breaking eye-contact with him once again.

She still hadn’t forgiven him for the absolute farce that was her taishuu moral. “If your business isn’t immediately important I’m going to ask you to leave. It’s not healthy to disturb patients who are still recovering,” replied the lavender-haired woman replied in a matter-of-fact, almost professional, tone of voice.

Blinking, as if surprised, the Founder-Captain’s brow drew down into a knitted frown. “Oh,” was the only word that seemed to come from him after that. Reaching out to pick up his staff, Haresuno rose to his feet - his towering height now completely obvious - as the fringes of his haori fell around his ankles.

He turned around and headed for the exit, but then stopped. “I wasn’t expecting you to be in such a gloomy mood, I apologize.” He started walking away again, his bass voice trailing over his shoulders, “It’s just that I don’t get to come to the human world a lot, and figured you’d be the most capable person of showing me an...” he grasped for the word, “arcade.”

Hook.

Lucia’s perked up, if just for the briefest moment. She huffed out, before diverting her gaze away once more. Stay indifferent, repeated the girl to herself, as she tried her hardest to suppress the urge. Why did she always find it hard to stew like everyone else?

Line.

She sighed out, before getting up. Reaching over, she grabbed her medical pack and slung it over her back. Without looking at the Founder Captain, she walked directly past him towards the exit. “Come on,” said the noblewoman, “We’ll request for gigais from the tournament officials.”

Following on her heels, Haresuno laughed. “No need,” he told her. “I was counting on you agreeing, so I took the liberty of having everything arranged. Even managed to set up a tenriku spot. All we have to do is....”

He let his voice trail off as Lucia neared the exit. He was going to give her a minute to enjoy the new scenery. After all, it was going to be something a tad different from what there had been when she entered.

She looked back, a questioning glance towards the trickster captain. She brushed her suspicions aside before pulling back the entry cover of the medical tent.

Sinker.

Following Lucia outside, Haresuno joined the medic in the middle of one of various arenas set up for the World Tournament. His smile from before now appropriate for the situation.

Lucia stood in pure shock a few steps ahead of him, and before she could think to flee, Haresuno knelt and concentrated. He focused the will of his god hand and moved the tent back through the large hole in the stadium wall, back to it’s original place, before he forced the tenriku hole shut.

Ladies and Gentlemen!” he boomed, his voice actually much louder than normal. It was a trick Hayato had showed him, though the assassin used it to change his voice. Haresuno’s uses for the trick were much simpler. Rising to his feet, the Captain continued to bellow, “Presented for you, for this one time only, I give you...!

Lucia Amaterasu-Frey!” He flourished his free hand out towards the medic, dragging the attention of all the spectators - there were a lot. He had seen to that personally.

The crowd actually cheered. A small roar of clapping hands and dozens of voices all mingling together. Whether she knew it or not, in her fight with the Soutaichou, Lucia had gained a small amount of fame. Enough fame, he had found, to gather viewers. And that was what was important.

Versus...!

His flourishing hand spun dramatically upwards before cutting straight down, his left thumb hitched backwards at himself. “...Captain Haresuno Uchiharu!”

Surprisingly to Haresuno, a meager amount of shouts and applause followed his own introduction. His own battle with Kyuketsu - apparently - had not gone as unnoticed as he had thought.

In a battle of that aims to push the challenger... Aims to break them down and cripple them! To test their mettle in the heat of battle to prove their own worth for...!” One more flourish of his hand, this one the most important. He directed their gaze - not only the crowd, but Lucia as well - up towards the top of the stadium. High above the heads of everyone there, drifting cozily in the lazy winds like a brilliant banner of white.

A haori.

...the very title sought after by so many! Ladies and Gentlemen, you are about to witness a once in a lifetime opportunity. Today you witness a taishuu!

Though the various humans throughout the arena’s seats might not have known what they were about to watch, the shinigami - men and women who so often did not watch a taishuu - went wild. The humans caught their excitement and the roaring crowd grew louder until it was powerful enough for Haresuno to feel it in his bones.

Severing the strands of reiatsu he had been using to augment his voice, the Founder-Captain reaffixed his gaze on Lucia. He was still smiling. “You’re welcome.”

Lucia staggered back, the roar of the crowd echoing through her ears. Her jaw visibly dropped as her mind struggled to take in all that was occurring right now. Her eyes trailed across the edges of the massive arena that she had found herself in, the crowd melding together into an immense blur of people.

Her survey stopped as she looked to an elevated platform directly below the haori. The arbiters of the taishuu, the Captains that were to judge her worth among them stood looking down upon the two from far above.

The rush of adrenaline broke her out of the haze that had been clouding her mind for weeks. A full smile appeared on her face, as she began to laugh loudly. Of course Haresuno would play her like this! She raised both of her hands, waving at the crowd, the fatigue sapping away from her body while being replaced by excitement. The noblewoman cocked her head back towards Haresuno, the mastermind of this insane spectacle. “That’s the Haresuno I remember,” she replied with a wink.

Yes, being an Exhibition match, you CAN spectate :>

Kiro's arms gripped the sides of his seats with rapt attention - his eyes glued to the spectacle before him.

He'd frozen up in the aftermath of Lucia's first match - the horrid wounds inflicted by the Soutaichou gruesome enough to stall his hand. Questions began to clutter his mind. What would happen if she lost? Would she settle for where she was? Wallow in her title as Dean of Medicine? Would anything be the same after this?

What if she won?

What if the Frey Matriarch took her haori? What did that make him? A distinct frown creased across the Spy's face. Would he... be left behind? Kiro wasn't sure he wanted answers to any of those questions. Instead, he settled for worrying. Worrying and watching.

When she heard that a taishuu was going on at the same time as the tourney, Alexia knew she had to check it out. All she'd heard of it were the tales the 'victors' had told her. Usually while they were lying on a hospital bed. The chance to see one unfold was an opportunity she couldn't pass up.

While she had seen bits and pieces of Haresuno's powers, it would still be interesting to see how he fought now. She hadn't met this Lucia, whomever she was, so it seemed odd that a captain-class potential suddenly sprung from seemingly nowhere. Regardless, she would watch the match for enjoyment and for study. After all, she might end up fighting one of these two one day.

If it weren’t a requirement, Adelaide probably wouldn’t have attended. And the fact that she would’ve been expected to wear that damned haori just upset her even more. It was uncomfortable, impractical, itchy... she hated it with a passion. So, she wasn’t actually wearing it. She just looked like she was. Being a Mystic was so cool. It still made her feel uncomfortable, though. Like she was doing something somehow wrong, somehow inappropriate.

More than that, as much as she wanted to be there for Lucia’s sake, she had only just gone through this same ordeal two months prior, and it was still too fresh for her. The pain was too real. Looking at Haresuno made her lung feel sore and full of blood.

Full of blood? That couldn’t be real. Damn it, her psyche was unkind.

So, she took out a gift she had gotten to commemorate her promotion and put on the Dragonfly sunglasses made especially for her by Andromeda de Laincourt. With an evil little smile she remembered the note: something to help you bird-watching. It was an easy enough message to decipher – the glasses did something when she checked women out. This was going to be like putting her in a candy store. Full of attractive women.

More altruistic, but no less uncomfortable, a blond woman stood far from the Captain of the Tenth Division. She wore the finest-pressed shihakushou she could, which was saying something because she had some of the crispest robes in the Gotei, with the brightest whites and darkest blacks. She idly played with one of the strands of hair that rested in front of her shoulders, watching nervously. This wasn’t about getting to watch a taishuu for her. After all, she was a LaSalle; titles and power weren’t a new and exciting game for her. This moment she was about to watch was about the future of the Fourth Division. Her own ambitions pinned to Lucia’s success rather completely.

She also was nervous. The fight was about the people in the ring, true, but here she was. Unprotected and in a large crowd. Augustus and Maria died in a crowd. With the crowd. And that’s when she realized that the idea that bothered her worse than being certain that someone had a bullet with her name on it was the realization that others might die in the assassin’s attempt on her life. That was unnerving.

No! She knew those fears were unrealistic, and she was here for Lucia! She had to be brave for her friend. “You can do it, Lucia!” shouted the medic. She just needed to focus on the ring and not be so paranoid about the people outside of it. She could do that. She had to for the new Dean of Medicine.

If he was quite honest, Satoru had no idea who Lucia Amaterasu-Frey was. All he knew is that anyone recognized as a Captain potential had to be insanely strong. What he did know is that, like millions of shinigami that had come and go before him, he had no idea what a Taishuu was truly like. To have one that was available to the general public like this was a spectacle that had not been seen before in at least thousands of years. This was a historic moment, and one that an Inquisitive worth his salt could not afford to miss.

He also knew the man who stood in opposition to this Frey woman. Haresuno Uchiharu was a man of great knowledge, skill, and power as well as the man who had served as his mentor. The vines of Heishuu Ryuuou seemed to thrive from being in proximity to its original master. Black tendrils wrapped around his hand for a short moment, creating a blank void of reiatsu that drew in reishi from the world around him. Satoru willed them to disappear, not wanting to break apart any of the matter around him.

The Inquisitive found himself watching the platform of Captains not too far from his position. Rarely did they all gather and all had been spoken of fervently around both Sereitei and the Academy: Sayis Inuzuri, master of the demon arts; Amaterasu Nana, the goddess of flash; Katsuji Ishin, the keeper of Soul Society's worst; Takimoto Kago, blender of spell and sword, and Reijuu Kyuketsu, the authority on single combat and Alexia's master.

Then, of course, there was his own Captain. Adelaide Pierce, his first teacher in the Mystic Arts and the second Captain of the Mystics, sat among the titans of the Gotei with a playful smile on her face. His black and purple gloved hands waved at the new master of the Tenth, drawing attention to the single brown-skinned face topped with a mass of poofy hair among a sea of alabaster and olive.

Long time, no see Pierce! he broadcasted to her via Taidan. It's great to see you among the Captains! Is that what you have been up to all this time? And what's with the shades? They don't seem like your style!

Unlike the other spectators, this one was not to be seen. She sat on a convenient spot, there in which the crowd wasn't too thick and wouldn't disrupt the light of Glass Veil concealing her body from view. It was Kamenashi Yuurei, who spent the last few weeks keeping herself away from public view, for the most part. She wanted to. She had to. But there was no way in hell she was gonna let this opportunity go. How many times, in actuality, does a normal shinigami get to witness a taishuu? It didn't matter whether she knew Lucia or not-- it was totally all about the experience and anticipation of a spectacle truly worth spectating. Quietly, she remained on her seat, true to her name, quiet and still as a ghost.

A petite Russian was among the crowd, and one among the people seated nearest to the combatants. Miyahara Ansherina was not the type of woman to dawdle and spectate a fight simply to see people bash each other. No, this fight was actually very significant!

Her wavy strawberry-blonde tresses were held up in a tight ponytail today, her long-sleeved shitagi revealed from the lack of a kosode in her uniform. A thick obi was wrapped around her waist, further secured by a black string tied in a tight ribbon. Her cheeks also held its usual blush, though it seemed as if she glowed in happiness more so than usual.

Ansherina was on a break, in light of her previous fight with Ryoujin. But that wasn't simply the reason why. She was there, surrounded by other healers (though some were, regrettably, not able to spectate this due to their duties to tend the other combatants), with an exceptionally high level of collective morale in order to support Lucia Amaterasu-Frey. She was already amazed by how the woman held herself against the Soutaichou, and she had no doubts that she could handle this fight pretty well-- Ansherina already had her support fully placed on the quirky healer when the Fifth division's captain made the invitations, but seeing the reality of it reflected on her silvery eyes sent a thrill on her body.

Confused, Haresuno simply resigned himself to the idea that Lucia’s mind was her own. Whatever opinions that she held to him were hers, and he would do well not to try to sort them out.

“The Haresuno you know?” he repeated with a hint of mirth. The confusion melted from his face and moved closer to his typical stoic appearance, though the small smile ruined any sort of emotionlessness from it.

Taking his staff and holding horizontal to the ground, the wooden casing of Xiezhi slowly fluttered upwards and Haresuno’s reiatsu spiked dramatically.

“Don’t worry about the spectators,” he told Lucia. “I made sure that any damage that could get through to them, wouldn’t. Now prepare yourself, Lucia.

“Bankai... Sekiryouku Houshiki Xiezhi.”

The Founder-Captain’s reiatsu climbed higher, soaring skyward until it peaked, finally, and the pressure of his release added to the air the hefty feeling of a mountain now sitting square on the shoulders of everyone there.

He stood fifteen feet from Lucia, a smile on his face, his haori and hair curling about under the pressure of his own presence. “This will not be a normal taishuu, but do not believe that I will not for one moment go easy on you.”

Releasing the staff of his bankai from his grasp, the eloquent staff of bronze scales hovered before the Adept before snapping into five equally lengthed rods. When they snapped, each connected end flared with reiatsu and simultaneously the Founder-Captain snapped his body into the Hanmeitai, his shihakushou very clearly delivering the sharp, crisp, sound of his body’s movement.

“If you did I’d be left disappointed, again,” she said with a wink. The overwhelming pressure of the Founder Captain drowned out the crowd in an instant. The fervor of the excited crowd melding with the excitement of facing a titanic force without restraint caused her heart to race.

“Bankai!”

In a swift motion Lucia drew the blade of her zanpaktou, plunging it into the ground. The ground rippled, hundreds of white crosses jutting out in even rows. Souls began to rise from each one, pluses ethereally walking towards the healer as they began to meld into a single form. Within a moment a new form was born. A towering figure garbed in the clothes of Victorian noble stood. In her right hand was an immense broadsword, in her left with a monolithic kite shield. Thick spikes protruded from her collar, a mask of porcelain covering her face.

“Kamikakushi Fusei!”

Lucia’s senses sharpened, as she began to pick apart the bout. As much as she wanted to simply run in and start hitting, the last time she tried that... well... her respiratory system paid the price. Her body was still recovering, her strength sapped from her altercation with the Soutaichou. “Superior Mend!” she chanted, as a white light covered both of her hands. She placed her right hand on her chest and her body was engulfed with a golden light which radiated throughout the battlefield. Reiatsu was created where there was none before, her strength returning to her with every passing moment.

In the same instant she began to chant another, “Energy Clone!” A second Lucia appeared in front of the original, as it began to charge forward. At the same time Fusei began to approach, the two construct weaving their motions in tandem.

“New eyes, observe my enemy, record his iniquities, judge his fate. Surveillance Clone!” spoke one-hundred voices melded together. The summon appeared to split, four appearing around the creator. Two dashed back towards Lucia while the others continued the assault. They approached as a horde, launching a cascade of blows towards the Captain.

[885]

Because of Tourney, Lucia is starting at 50% reiatsu.
Superior Mend is regen: 3071 rei per turn.
Then Chiyudou Multicast to activate 75% Bypass Energy Clone.
A horde is trying to steamroll Haresuno, but the only thing that can really do damage is the actual summon. The rest are mainly distraction tools + Energy Clone for shenanigans.

A soul in its own right, Kamikakushi Fusei is capable of tapping into and recreating the demon arts known to shinigami. Kamikakushi Fusei is given the ability to cast a spell per turn. Kamikakushi Fusei can cast any spell from Lucia’s kidou list, including chiyudou. When casting chiyudou, all channeling rules apply using the summon as the focal point.

Superior Mend - Chiyudou #91, 5000 kidou
Description: The epitome of regenerative power attainable through the progression of Mend healing techniques, Superior Mend allows the user to restore lost and damaged tissue at an exponential rate. The user's hands produce a mild white glow while the spell is active.

Small wounds are healed in one turn, medium wounds in two turns, and large wounds in three turns.

Energy Clone - Bakudou #72, 1250 Kidou
Description: Creates an identical clone of the caster. If the caster of this kidou is struck by an opponent's attack while this spell is active, the caster automatically swaps places with the clone at the moment of impact. Only one Energy Clone may be active at a time, and that clone cannot stray more than 20m from its caster. While this kidou is active, the caster cannot use any Hadou.

Surveillance Clone - Bakudou #40, 600 Kidou
Description: Creates four identical copies of the user. These clones possess no discretionary Reiatsu. These copies all have the same senses as the caster, including buffs and debuffs active at the time of casting. Attacks will destroy one of these clones in a single hit, and the clones naturally expire after ten minutes. All sensory data experienced by a clone are transmitted to the caster when a given clone expires, as if the caster had experienced it themselves.

"Starting the match before half the officials are even here." A tired sigh punctuated the comment paid to no one in particular as Mabara Tsubaki made her way to the railing overlooking the unfolding fight. "Nice to see they're taking things seriously in my absence."

She skirted a quick glance around, finding only Haresuno acting as proctor and Lillith's replacement in attendance to represent the Haori-clad elite of the Gotei. Following that, two disappointed eyes found momentary distraction in watching the battle below while the thoughts in her head continued to stew.

Chiyudou...guess that means Matsumara isn't coming back after all. Shame. He could be cute when he wasn't being obnoxious. If nothing else this'll let me kill time until the next round.

The leonine irises clouded over with ebony as Tsubaki continued to watch the bout, employing the Lunar Petal to make sure she wasn't being misled.

[148]
No, really
Dafuq are all the Captains.

Though she had been called to be patched up for a bit, she stayed with the medics for longer than she would’ve liked. It wasn’t necessarily that she was hurt badly, or had lost a lot of her reiatsu... it was more the opposite that made them keep her around for so long.

Still, even if she hadn’t been preoccupied, she wondered if she would’ve gotten to this exhibition on time. She loathed it, hated the way it was done. A taishuu was a sacred rite, something only captains were allowed to see and judge upon.

To have Lucia fight Haresuno of all people in front of people who knew nothing of their customs? It was insulting. It insulted everything she knew, everything she stood for and she refused to take active part in it.

That, and she just couldn’t see herself approving her sister into such a dangerous position. She would give the girl everything, the entire world if need be, but she didn’t want her to get hurt.

“Right,” Nana said behind Tsubaki. “Because it’s not like they took things seriously before your absence. Not to mention, this entire tournament taishuu is a joke, and goes against everything we stand for.

“I don’t think they much care for ‘taking things serious”, Mabara-san.”

[215]

The Mystic Captain wasn’t sure what irritated her more – was it the fact that Haresuno had started with only one goddamn voting member there in addition to himself or was it the fact that she was the only one of the Gotei’s elite that could be bothered to attend the event on time? Nah, it was that the dragonfly sunglasses didn’t freaking work. She couldn’t even see that cute blonde’s... anyway the important thing was there was literally no other Captain of the Gotei Thirteen that wasn’t annoying her at the moment, and the disdain the Onmitsu’s leaders had held her own trial in lead her to wonder which, if any, of them would wander in late.

She smiled at Satoru’s message, it was a welcome distraction. They were a gift, and a particularly underwhelming one, she answered quite honestly, but didn’t explain any further.

Also, Tsubaki was being annoying as shit already too. That was another highlight of this taishuu.

Where Echo was content being impressed with the sheer number of Lucias running around, Adelaide hadn’t even given what was taking place in the ring much thought yet, though as the only person other than the proctor to be there at the match’s start she had a significant responsibility when it came to caring that she didn’t want. Much like the fake haori she was ‘wearing’.

Better late than never, she sent Nana a quick telepathic message as she took off her disappointing glasses and placed them into her robes. Where was her instructor, who bore the most significant role in this proceeding? Where was the person she was granted her haori alongside? Where was... well, everyone? The stands were full of people who were taking great pleasure in this rare privilege, but for those required to attend, many were clearly negligent.

Perched some ways away, gaining a nearly bird’s eye view of the battlefield, Kyuketsu made himself known. He said not a word, but those conscious enough could feel his spiritual pressure materialize within the vicinity. Detached from the rest of the spectators, the Duelist captain was able to make out a few familiar faces gathered watching the event unfold. Of them, Kiro and Tsubaki were the first to stand out. A few of the other captains were present as well, though there seemed to sign of the captain-commander.

Crossing his legs and sitting on his behind, Kyuketsu pulled free his sword, still sheathed, resting its length over his lap.

“And the rapscallions are at it already. How fun,” he whispered to himself unemotionally.

"'A joke' is exactly what this is." The crowds were making way for the squad of five men that stalked toward Adelaide and Nana, headed by the shadowy figure of Yoshinari Matsurine. His attire was reminiscent of the shihakushou: thick black robes trimmed in dark grey fur. The sleeves were tightened down with interlacing bright red cord. A long grey scarf looped around his throat numerous times and hung down to the center of his chest. Matsurine was frowning -- a state that was by now familiar to the members of the Gotei -- his lips pursed tightly behind his thin beard.

The other four Gundanchou followed behind him, each with their own expression. Matsurine was tall, standing well above the majority of the crowd, much to the spectators' consternation. Inori Shahei, the Eiheitai Gundanchou, managed to rise above even him, though. The blue-haired man grinned as he looked out across the reshaped crater of Mount Fuji, eyeing the combatants. "Haresuno is a beast," he remarked, though it was hard to tell whether that was a compliment or insult.

The others in attendance -- Ashanti Kwasi, Takeda Inori, and Nakamikado Kyuushi -- deigned not to comment.

"I've read the files on your 'sister,' Lady Amaterasu. You know as well as I do that she isn't suited for such a mantle. Kwasi would have quickly exposed such weakness." He paused for a moment before a suspicious look fell upon his brow. "Inuzuri set up this travesty of a taishuu in the hopes of excluding the substitute captains, didn't he?" Matsurine asked of Nana.

"I had not placed my peer among the Onmitsu Kidou as a man prone to paranoia," Sayis responded coolly from Adelaide's left. The concealing folds of reiatsu peeled away to reveal the grey-haired Soutaichou in his trademark one-sleeved haori. He leaned calmly against the railing, watching the fight without sparing even a glance in Matsurine's direction. "I'm afraid that Haresuno is simply a bit too eager for his own good. I can't always predict what he's capable of."

A smug grin curled at one corner of his face. "I'm not a mind-reader."

[354/354]

No, alas, our mind reader is busy elsewhere, Adelaide sent the Commander a rather whimsical retort telepathically to his equally entertaining remark. And then her face fell to the leader of the Onmitsu Kidou, Matsurine, and it’s expression hardened. Since passing her own taishuu, Adelaide had done a lot as a Captain. She met new division members, she entered this blasted tournament, she ascended to nobility, and she also did a lot that sparked controversy and rumor, notably her penchant for neglecting to wear her haori. But this marked the first time she ever considered herself to have spoken like a Captain, calling authority into her voice along with its normal caprice.

“I admit I haven’t been on this side of the equation before, sir, but I thought judgments of approval or disapproval were given after the fight’s conclusion, not before you arrived. Which I am certainly glad you elected to eventually do, it was so lonely here without you and your colleagues.”

With that said, and a far-too-innocent smile on her face, she gave Shahei a friendly nod and turned her gaze back to the fight at hand. Now if only Kago and Ishin bothered to show up, it would be a full bench.

“You’ve grown!” Haresuno remarked joyfully as he witnessed Lucia’s bankai. The clones began to stack on top of one another, and he marked the differences in her powers.

As the small team of clones charged down on Haresuno, the Adept stepped forward. The world blurred as he did, and the gap between the horde and him lessened like a flash of lightning until he was in front of them with his foot hitting the ground, rapidly speeding up his body for a split second, and then stepped away again.

Where the Founder-Captain had momentarily appeared came a deafening clap of thunder. The ground rippled outwards, into the clones as a concussive blast rocked through them.

The clones that couldn’t withstand the blast, vanished in billows of smoke.

“Sprinkled on the bones of the beast!” Haresuno’s voice chanted. Power began to build and thrum throughout his left arm, fully extended outwards towards Lucia who had yet to move. Him on the other hand, he had put a good space of barren land between Lucia and him. “Sharp tower, red crystal, steel ring. Move and become the wind, stop and become the calm. The sound of warring spears fills the empty castle! Hadou number Sixty-Three...,”

Electricity danced wild around the Adept’s arm as his lips spilled the incantation. Like a river the words poured out of his mouth as fast as he could. He pumped as much power as he could into the spell, making it a threat and not wanting to give Lucia too much time to think. He wanted her to react.

“...Raikouhou!”

[ Onsoku no Shunpo ] - "Sonic Flash Step"
Through an intricate manipulation of acceleration and deceleration, the user is capable of creating a sonic boom at the mid-point of a standard Shunpo. This creates an intense concussive blast that hits everything within a 7.5m radius. The user ends Onsoku no Shunpo just outside the range of the attack.

If used in an area without enough space, the user will be hit by the blast as well.

This ability takes the place of two normal Shunpo uses and costs 2,000 reiatsu.

Requirements: 7,500 Hohou

Raikouhou - Hadou #63, 1500 Kidou

Description: The user fires a powerful beam of yellow lightning from their arm. This spell is effective up to 30m.

Incantation: Sprinkled on the bones of the beast! Sharp tower, red crystal, steel ring. Move and become the wind, stop and become the calm. The sound of warring spears fills the empty castle! Hadou #63, Raikouhou.

Her remaining clones reacted, spreading away from her as Haresuno began to chant with startling efficiency. The fanned out to the outside of the arena, acting as observers that picked apart all sides of the battlefield. Kamikaushi Fusei began to move, even while the Founder Captain still chanted, sailing across the battlefield at a surprising speed for a creation that carried such an immense weapon.

“Numbing Touch,” she replied in an instant. Her hands were aglow with a soothing green light. In a swift motion she tapped her chest. Within seconds her body deadened to pain, the nerves being soothed in an instant. She gritted her teeth, raising her arms to protect her head, the devastating beam of electricity barreling down upon her.

The electrical wave engulfed her, though her body felt nothing. Digging into the ground, she forced herself to brace the impact. She could feel the reiatsu forcing through her body, her muscles contracting, though instantly being relaxed by the numbing power of the kidou. As the wave flickered away she remained standing, heavily panting from absorbing such a monumental strike. Her muscles still contracted from the electrical charge, though for the moment at least, she seemed to have survived.

“Well, I can say for certain that you’re no longer the bumbling gardener that couldn’t think outside of the box. I mean hey, you actually succeeded in pulling a fast one over me for once,” she replied between heavy breaths.

“Break apart and return, turn and overcome. Never lose your light, fall into the arms of the world. Bathe underneath the purity of the full moon and reach your true potential. High Mend,” chanted the noblewoman in almost an instant. Reiatsu engulfed her body once more, the two titanic forces of regeneration repairing her body in tandem.

The noblewoman’s body still dead to the world, she began to move unsteadily towards Haresuno. At the same moment, the monumental form of Fusei approached from behind. Its body shone brilliantly, as it outstretched its right hand. A golden chain erupted outwards wrapping around Haresuno and linking to his chest.

However, the artificial soul drew back, instead dropping the immense shield and grabbing the blade with two hands. In a quick motion it rotated the blade back towards itself, thrusting the razor edge back towards itself. The blade sailed past its own side, leaving a light gash along its torso. A thick chain burst from its chest, the immense weight bringing the construct to its knees while the immense kite shield covered its body from the front.

The chain connecting the two was colored a violent red, energy coursing through it at an immense pace. The man’s body began to bend down, an immense weight being forced upon him, until he mimicked Fusei.

Throughout all this Lucia continued to approach her proctor. Her hands were still held over her chest, channeling the dual chiyudou. She raised her leg before launching it downwards at a remarkable speed, the heel of her foot threatening to slam clean into his exposed neck.

“DODGE!”

I'm bad at short turns :(

Lucia pretty much man-mode tanked Raikouhou, using Numbing Touch so she wouldn't want to die in pain immediately after. Afterwords, she casted a high mend increase her regeneration and help superior mend.

Summon started moving while Haresuno was casting and arrived right after firing. It tethered to hare and then attacked itself with a minor scratch to trigger it's second ability to bind Hare and transfer the reiatsu messing up effects. Lucia used the binding setting in to approach (since she's slow with her meh hohou and unsteady movements bc tanking). Then AXE KICKKU.

Lucia Regen: 4193
Lucia net change: +3343
Summon net change: -2694
Rei in connecting chain: 1686
Binding Rei: 1012

+ Eikyukousai - "Perpetual Bond" +
An enhanced version of the shikai ability, Kamikakushi Fusei is capable of linking even the most distant souls together. By paying 5% of her reiatsu, Kamikakushi Fusei can tether herself to up to a soul. The target of the tether must be within a ten meter radius, and the tether is broken if the target leaves the Bankai domain.

When tethered to an ally, all positive effects that affect the summon also affect the ally up to the tether cost. On the other hand, when tethered to an enemy, all negative effects affecting the spirit are shared with the target up to the tether cost. For example, if the summon is bound, the target is bound as well, though they could break out of the binding effects with the appropriate ability. While tethered, the channeling range of chiyudou is increased to match tether range. Each link lasts three turns before it must be renewed once more.

+ Jitsuzo - "Real Image" +
Perhaps the most dangerous ability of Kamikakushi Fusei, strikes made by the materialized amalgamation are capable of striking the soul itself. Upon landing a successful strike, and paying 3% of her reiatsu, the spirit can bring the victim’s soul to bear. A luminescent chain forms from the Saketsu, extending outwards five meters. While appearing to be made out of light, the chain is extremely heavy, dramatically weighing down upon the target. These chains are physical and can interact with the material world.

Using reiatsu while the chain is materialized is excruciatingly painful. Any attempt to use reiatsu elicits a violent backlash of pain similar to dozens of violent stabs to the chest, acting as direct spiritual damage equal to the initial amount paid in. As a side effect, continuous exposure damages the target’s ability to use their reiatsu, as they progressively find it harder and harder to tap into it. When activated, the cost of the ability is automatically paid by Kamikakushi Fusei. The chain persists for two rounds, though attempting to use reiatsu extends its duration by a single turn, once, or until Lucia manually banishes it.This is treated as a binding.

High Mend - Chiyudou #52, 700 Kidou
Description: A much more powerful version of mend. The area healed is almost half the size of a normal person and the rate of healing is much faster. The user's hands have a mild, white glow while this is active.

Small wounds can be healed in 2 turns, medium wounds in 3, and large wounds in 4.

Incantation: Break apart and return, turn and overcome. Never lose your light, fall into the arms of the world. Bathe underneath the purity of the full moon and reach your true potential. Chiyudou #52, High Mend

Numbing Touch - Chiyudou #27, 150 Kidou
Description: For those instances when anesthetic isn't available, this spell would allow the healer to anesthetize a patient for a procedure or for transport. A secondary application would be for the numbing of an entire section of their patient's body with their touch. The numbing would only affect enervation of the surface tissues, i.e. skin and muscles, where most sensory nerves are located.

Incantation: Sleep, Warrior. You’ve done enough. Chiyudou #27, Numbing Touch.

"Just because you don't see something doesn't mean its not there. I would expect you of all people, to know this, Adelaide. That and it seems the opposite could be true as well, no?"

Ishin strode up and sank into a seat next to the red head, his enormous frame taking up two seats and his legs hanging into the row below them. Oddly enough, though, no one seemed to want to say anything to him about it.

"Though in this case, you would be right. Sorry I'm late. Did i miss anything?"

A smile found it's way to is face as he recalled the reason for his tardiness.

“Exactly what you should expect from a taishuu, Ishin,” the newly appointed captain of the eighth division chimed in as he blurred into vision. Having been watching the fight thus far from the stands, he couldn’t help but feel guilty from his perceived lateness – even though he preferred the seats amongst the crowd. Afterall, he was a commoner at heart.

“I am glad to see Lucia putting up such a fight for having been thrust into this without warning.”

Kago’s eyes drifted back to the scene below and his mind flashed back to the struggles of his taishuu with Adelaide. Hopefully, the healer would fare better against Haresuno than his former protégé.

When the weight of his soul slammed into him, Haresuno’s first thought was how distressing the situation had suddenly become. Quickly on the heels of that thought, was the strange comfort the Founder-Captain felt being lost in the whirlwind of chaos that fighting of this magnitude brought.

Hands free of the five rods, Haresuno grabbed his chain and strained every muscle in his body to put the heavy metal between him and Lucia’s attack. The weight of the chains was ridiculous, but he still managed - if barely.

Her leg came down with the full weight of a mountain, far more strength to the attack than Haresuno was anticipating, or would believe. His thoughts drifted backwards to a spar with Lilith and the inhuman strength she had used, but only for a split second - a memory in a flash that came and went - as the chain snapped taut and he fell to the ground, his chest riddled in agony and his face smacking into the dirt.

On the other end of the chain, however, Haresuno’s attempt to block Lucia had an unexpected return.

The summon Fusei was suddenly ripped from its spot, the end of its chain snapping and hurling its full weight at the two fighters.

The Founder-Captain laid on the ground for a moment, recollecting his thoughts and his awareness when the dark shadow of the summon rolled over him... and went for Lucia.

“If I didn’t know better,” Nana said to the man identifying himself as Matsurine, despite Sayis himself already having replied, “I'd say that this was indeed the case. I know it’s not, but you’re certainly right that I cannot feel much for seeing my ‘sister’ pass.

“But...” Her voice grew a bit gloomier, her tone of voice ever so softer and calmer as she locked eyes with the Gundanchou, “I believe our reasoning and motives differ from there on out, Matsurine-san.”

That said, she just couldn’t look at this as objectively as she normally could. She had always distinguished between what she thought was worthy of a haori, and what was worthy of getting kicked down a bottomless pit.

She did not want for Lucia to experience either of the two...

Why couldn’t she just remain her sister, and the best damn healer out there? Why couldn’t things just remain the way they were, without the Frey heir having to take on this increased responsibility?

Her reiatsu fluctuated at the thought, bouncing back and forth between barely there and almost overpowering even the strongest of spectators. The idea of Lucia standing among her brought her a feeling of pride, and joy, but...

Also that of anger, and resentment.
